Bra fitting help » Bra doesnt really fit well but still my best. Suggestions on size, other models?
La Senza » The Show Off Balconnet Push Up Bra (11046175) » 32D 32:4
I have gaping on one side, but still slight quad boob effect. Band is a little too large. This bra is discontinued, I need help finding other bras that would fit my shallow, very wide roots, inner full breasts. I usually put 2 inserts in this one to have more projection and a nice balconnet effect. Bratabase says my size is 28f or 30e, do you agree? I just started and ordered the Cleo Lexi 30e. I have a tight budget so I'm trying to be wise in my bra quest journey! Thanks in advance!

helpfulI would try 30D in a true balconette/half cup...preferably NOT moulded. Padded yes,ok, but not moulded.
True balconettes are often good for short roots (which is what you appear to have) and have higher gores (to avoid your center spill) and wider wires than balcony and plunge styles.
I know La Senza calls this a balconette, but it isn't really. Look at bras with vertical seams only...these are what I am referring to. Freya makes them, Fantasie, etc and they should be available on Amazon.Updated on August 8, 2019 Flag this

A moulded bra has a cup that is made from 1 piece of foam that has been heated and pressed into a rounded shape. It keeps its shape and does not conform to the breast. It may or may not also be "padded" with pushups heated into the mould or cookies/removable pads that go into a pocket sewn to the interior of the cup.
A padded bra is a "cut and sew" - it is made from multiple pieces of foam and fabric that are sewn together to create the cup. The seams (the number of them as well as their direction) controls the breast and guides it to take a shape. However, this type of bra cup will take more of the shape of your breast. It wraps and cradles the breast rather than squashing it into submission. These cut and sew padded bras also may or may not have pockets sewn to the interior of the cup that can hold cookies/pads.
Just for reference look at the different styles that the Polish bra maven Ewa Michalak makes. She has several unpadded styles and several padded styles (all cut and sew).
The S is a padded balcony. It has a mid-height gore, horizontal and vertical seams and pushes the breasts up and in.
The PL is a padded plunge. It has a lower gore and has horizontal and vertical seams designed to focus on pushing the breasts in.
The CHP is a padded balconette/half cup. It has a higher gore with only vertical seams that are designed to focus on pushing the breasts up.Hope this helps!

It helps a lot! I'll look at those bras more closely! Thank you so much! :)

Demi is another name many brands now use for the half cup styles if it helps.

helpfulYikes to this bra! Definitely needing a smaller band with a narrower gore and larger cup. I like the idea of staying away from the moulded cups for now as they do not allow you to get a good sense of your breast shape and how it fits into a bra. You state that you believe yourself to be shallow and wide. I find that women with small bands are often told this about their breast shape by well-meaning sales people when it is not true. Once you work on your understanding of cup width and your breast projection at you inter-mammary fold (IMF) and apex in a better fitting bra, you will be in a better position to identify your breast characteristics and needs when it comes to bra shopping. Your torso appears to be more narrow than wide within your 28 inch measurement which makes we think about a narrower breast width - also narrower placement of straps will help you out. Something to keep in mind as you find the combination of band, cup width, gore, cup depth....
You may want to have a look at the bras for sale on this site for more inexpensive options. Go slow as the learning curve will give you surprises. Also work on a clearer side shot of photos for assistance with projection, cup width, and positioning of the wire into your IMF. Good luck as you enter the world of better fitting bras.

Oh thank you! I will try to get a better shot, its important if I want good advice. There is so much to take in, I have a lot to learn yet. Its incredible how much there is a ton of people here who have so much knowledge, much more than in all the bra stores I have ever been to! I will look for narrower gore. Its true my torso is quite narrow. Thank you for your advice!

helpfulIf look at aerie. They have a few 30Ds, and potentially 30DD. But they are molded. Nevertheless, it’s possible that it will be a stepping stone to a better fit. Agree with most of what’s been said above.

Thank you! You're right! A higher gore muzt be better for me! I thought padded and moulded were the same! Hummm 🤔
