Bra fitting help » no idea what size
Elomi » Morgan Banded Bra (4110) » 42E 42:6
I have 42G as the suggested measurement. I'm not even close to filling out the cup so a bra that fits on Reddit suggested this size. It feels comfortable at first but within an hour was uncomfortable. I can't fill out the top of the cup however, the top of the Gore stabs me in the sternum even though the bottom of the wire seems to fit properly under the breast tissue. The wires on the outside come way out and stab me in the arm pits. This is all after a nice scoop and swoop.
EDIT:
Also tried - 42DDD - Mierside » Lace Seduction Molded Underwire DemiBand is great, no stabbing of underwires but the gore doesn't tack and I still don't fill out the top of the cups while fully filling the bottom. I'm thinking a shape issue??
EDIT2:
Tried the elomi morgan 42F. It seems to fit but, I'm not sure if I like it. The top of the gore seems to be pushing into my sternum pretty hard while the wire is trying to push down the fat below my breast tissue. The wire on the sides is OK and I mostly fill out the cup. It gives me crazy triangle boobs though. It like really draws attention to the nipple region and isn't something I would wear in public with only a tshirt.

helpfulOk, so the band is tight on this bra for you if it’s uncomfortable. If you can’t get a finger under it and/or it hurts, it’s too tight. I think the measurements are off, so I’m going to ignore those.
The cups are too large by a few sizes I think. With a smaller size you will get narrower, lower wires, more comfort.
If we want to size you up into a more comfortable band size like 44 and a more fitting cup size two cups or so down that would put you in a 44C or D. I’d like to recommend Goddess Michelle (5000) to you. It’s made for plus petite and is really beautiful too. Plus it’s on sale at Amazon right now.
You may also find this size at Torrid or Cacique if you are in the states. Cacique in particular has some really nice bras now. You could try in store before you buy.
If you would like other option just let me know. Good luck!

Oh, sorry, yes! I missed that she was talking about a 40. That makes more sense.

The 42 band seems to be great, I just tried a 42F and the band was great but, I'm still not filling out the top of the cup yet the gore won't tack either. I'm starting to think there's a shaping issue here.

helpfulHmmm...to begin, according to your measurements, the band of this bra is too large for you. You want to look for something where the stretched measurement is more similar to that of your tight ribcage.
Instead of focusing on size, focus on measurements.
Cup is clearly too large and too wide in this bra in this size. I would try going down to 40E (which is a band and a cup size smaller) or even a 40DD (2 cup sizes down).
cupandahalf is more of an Elomi (and your size range) expert. I think she will really be able to help. <3

I'm wondering if my measurements are slightly off even though I've done them myself and had someone what do them but I can't fit a 40. I can't be comfortable, I can't really get a full finger under the band let alone two. It's just all around a terrible experience.
-
Hmmm...we all have different sensitivity levels. As long as the band doesn't ride up and its comfy than stick with this size.
Going down in the cup will result in a narrower wire. If you go down in cup size, as much as you can while still accommodating the lower part of your breast, but there's still emptiness at top, then you know it's a shape mismatch.

So I just tried a 42F and the top was still very empty but the gore wouldn't tack by a good half an inch so I'm thinking it's a shape issue. The 42 band felt great though!
Edit to add bra

You need swoop and scoop your breasts into the cups of your bra for a good fit. Bring your tissue under the armpit forward to fill the side of the cups of your bra. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe she was saying a 40 band that she had tried before was too tight to get a finger underneath, rather than this 42 band. If so, then perhaps 42D or DD would be appropriate?
