Bra fitting help » Looking for bras either unlined or lightly padded that suit my shape, thank you!
Panache » Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) » 28FF 28:8
Issue resolved
Grateful for all the advice. I will keep searching
Original problem
This is the best fitting bra I've found so far - Andorra pros: beautiful soft stretch lace gives me enough support; found it at a decent price; band is nice and snug; doesn't give me a migraine like my old 34DD molded bras did; love the shape it gives me. Cons: the wires really dig in to my ribs, so can't wear it for more than a couple hours (yet?); the gore itches (a problem with all the bras I've tried); there's cutting in as you can see in the first picture (I learned that's because I have tall roots) but doesn't feel uncomfortable; wires too wide; too shallow at the wire; would like it in nude but can't seem to find it in stock. I don't seem to mind wide straps, tall gore, or high armpits.

helpfulOk. A 28 band. And you need narrow wires with more projection.
Some people have luck with some Cleos, but I would start thinking Poland for consistent success.
I've tried them all, so I know that Dalia, Gorsenia, Ewa Bien, Samanta, Konrad and Kinga all have nothing that I would recommend for a 28/60 band and very tall roots.
That leaves Ewa and Comexim.
Ewa Michalak makes 28 bands (called 60 in EU sizing) but they're usually custom, non-returnable. Her bands tend to run super snug so you may try a 65 (30) first. Her softcup bras (BM and SF) have stretch lace upper cups so they should accommodate your roots well.
I would suggest that you begin with a BM. The fit is most forgiving.
If you were to try a Ewa padded style, maybe begin with the PL. In my experience, it's less closed on top than the S. The CHP is best suited to shorter roots and/or FOT breasts.
All of her bras tend to be very projected and narrow.
I would suggest trying a 60FF or a 65F in Ewa, but make sure to check measurements. You should be able to find one or more here, on Bratabase, to try.
Comexim also makes your size. With tall roots and a lot if projection, only the Plunge might suit you. I find their sizing very inconsistent so you'll definitely have to use measurements of each and every style in order to determine which ones will fit you.
You will also find a lot of Comexim bras here on Btb.

Thank you SO MUCH AGBras - this will save me some disappointments.
I have a 65G - Kinga » Yvette Semi Padded (BC-463) that is pretty serviceable for work (but not under white shirts). -
Yip. I saw your review of that Kinga (i have it too) and I know that it (and many of kinga styles) are closed on top. Not to mention the 65 bands are forgiving and therefore not good for a 60.

helpfulHave you tried Cleo Marcie?

No, I haven't!
-
I was also going to suggest this. Or Hettie/Kayla (but I don’t know how the Kayla I sent you fits). Maybe Panache Clara, Envy, or Jasmine since the upper is stretch lace?
-
Envy is more closed-on-top than Andorra I think
-
Jasmine is all apex projection and hardly any wire projection. The wires are also super wide (at least in a 32G). Clara is very shallow at the wire. TBH all UK gores are going to be very wide and it sounds like this is a bad issue. UK bras are not going to work out very well for her.
-
hurrrrrmione I'll have to remember to come back with pictures of my Envy 28G. Calluna unfortunately Kayla is giving me a good amount of in-cup quadding, sorry D:
Sovavosi I have a 28G Jasmine but the shape is not my favourite (and there's a lot of room between my tissue and the wires) but it's in regular use. I was hoping to get a Clara soon. I suppose I'm going to run into the same problems a lot! -
How was the Zia? That’s a little closer to the Marcie.
-
Also, your Jasmine didn’t look too bad, aside from maybe being either a cup size too large, or too tall of a cup. Is your tissue soft or firm, and do you know how your tissue is distributed? Is it center full or outer full? Full on top or full on bottom? When you lean over, do you have a 2” or larger over bust measurement from your standing over bust measure? Despite the tall roots, I almost wanna say that you’re functionally short rooted based on the way your bras are fitting. Yes, they’re tall, but they’re also shallow up there. The upper part looks like you would be wide and shallow, but they’re not behaving that way in the bras.
-
Shallow on top is tough to fit. Size down enough to make the top fit and the you lose bottom projection and the top starts cutting in. There is a Reddit thread on it:
https://reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/comments/2lzkwn/discussion_how_many_of_you_have_projection_but/ -
Calluna I wore the Zia a couple days ago and it was pretty comfortable! A little room at the wires and on the last hook but the fit in the cups is great :)
-
Calluna The Jasmine is a cup size too big. The first bras I bought were that, my 28GG Andorra and 28G Envy, even though I'd already determined I was probably a 28FF.
I think I'm a fairly even fullness, maybe slightly centre full. Standing is 35 and leaning is 39, and my breasts are pretty soft. I thought I was short rooted at first because what I have on top is a lot shallower and firmer - when I was told it was breast tissue I had to go look in the mirror and trace out the shape - what a surprise! -
Ok, so this tells me that you’d probably be ok in Marcie or even Lily. Clara might be ok...it’s got the same kind of shape as Andorra, with stretch lace top. But it’s probably also not projected enough at the wire. However, Panache and Cleo wires are definitely firm and with tall gores, long wires, tall wings. I feel like the wires are a little bit wide, but do follow my root. So I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not to keep trying them.
-
Ok, so you’re quite projected then. Similar to me in shape with the fullness and soft tissue. I’m betting that the size calculator would overestimate your cup size because you have soft and projected tissue. That explains the 28GG/H you had initially. I think we’re cracking the code!
On the 28G Jasmine and Envy, how did/does the lower reinforced part of the cup fit?
When you take the raw off at the end of the day, or any length of time, what do the wire marks look like in relation with your breast roots?
-
Sovavosi thanks for the article :) it's very comforting to read others' experiences. It really sounds like me - the top half is shallow and firm and the bottom half is soft and projected. I really do like the natural "no bra" look of the Andorra and am thinking about the Ava (seems like the new Andorra Plunge, and I love the colours) but also am getting used to the idea of a padded, rounder shape for work maybe. Like my 65G - Kinga » Yvette Semi Padded (BC-463) or the Freya Mode I have on the way now.
-
I had a 30F Ava that was beautiful. Only it was a bit smaller than I need. And 30FF would probably have wires that were too wide, but maybe not. I never tried it. I’m definitely echoing AGBras suggestion of Ewa Michalak BM. Just questioning which size. If you have a snug ub close to 26”, then you probably want a 60FF/G, but those are special order. Her 65 bands are usually in the 28-29” stretched range so you might be ok. Plus, most styles have 4 columns of hooks for extra flexibility. Even starting one in, you’re the same as a normal 3 column bra. As mentioned, her M cuts run extraordinarily tight, so a 65 would fit closer to a 26/28 band. I’d say 65FF in M because it’s the smallest band and largest cup. But it’s going to be super projected and round.
-
Bratabase's calculator badly overestimated at 28G - 28GG - 30G, but abrathatfits calculated me at 28FF, which sounds a lot closer.
The wire marks are usually at least an inch below and outside my IMF - and pretty sore too, but they fade quickly.
I'm noticing now (perhaps this is cycle dependent) that I seem a lot more centre full and FOB than when I was at the beginning of my cycle.
Wearing the Jasmine, I have a surprising amount of lift on the bottom half probably due to the stiffness of the material. The bottom has quite a lot of wrinkling and the wires almost wrap around to my back.
I'm noticing the same wrinkling underneath on the Envy, but the sides of the wires aren't as drastically wide. They seem to push me forward more than the Jasmine and the Andorra do. And maybe have more lift than the Andorra. -
Dumb question, but you’re swooping and scooping and positioning the wires in your imf when you are putting the bra on, right?
-
Abtf put me at 28GG/H at one point because it could not factor in my shape characteristics but btb put me pretty well. A Sophisticated Pair is the most accurate...28G or 30FF, but my rib cage or something prevents me from comfortably wearing most 28s. And my soft, pendulous, even to fob tissue sometimes has to size down, bra depending.
-
I’m glad it helps out. There is so little information out there on this shape I like to share it when a new person has the same shape.
-
Yes, I actually even have to pull fat from around my back to get a bra on right. And the BM does sound amazing - have that down to try for sure - have seen a couple custom sizes come up on btb in the last month so when I'm ready to try some Ewa bras I'll try and catch one one here.
I'm so glad you did Sovavosi because I've been so confused haha -
It’s not suuuuper close to you (but closer than me) but Broad Lingerie in Toronto sells EM. Sam and her team are excellent, although I have only worked with them remotely. It looks like it’s probably an hour away, but maybe you can schedule a weekend or something and go there? I think they could help you a ton!
-
namedoesntmatter I have a few things in my drawer that I haven't listed yet, but would sell. I'll go thru them on the weekend to look for openness at the top and tight bands.
I have a 65J Comexim Belen 3HC that is extremely tight band. I also have a 65G Ava creme cup...i have about 20 bras I would sell, all only worn 2x. I'm in Montreal, btw -
Calluna an hour doesn't scare me :) thanks for the info! I really should go in and try some on.
AGBras it might be a month or two before I have the funds to buy bras but I'm very keen to see what you have! Both the Comexim and the Ava sound super. Shipping from Montreal shouldn't hurt too much either! -
I don't know what to say for myself, but I've got to walk back my opinions on the Jasmine and Envy. I could fit a whole hand in them! New pictures:
28G - Panache » Jasmine Balconnet Bra (6951)
28G - Panache » Envy Balconnet Bra (7285)
I'm wearing the Envy anyway today, and somehow it's more comfortable after it rides down.
Measurements as of this morning:
Standing 35
Leaning 39
Lying 35.5
Loose 29
Snug 28
Tight 26
Still comes out as 28FF in the abtf calculator. Perhaps I've lost some upper fullness. -
Where are you in your cycle?
-
Sovavosi if the first day is 1, this is Day 14.
-
Definitely too big, for sure... Are you able to return those? I'd say keep them for later in your cycle but only if you can afford to do so.
-
They both look good, except a little bit big.
-
Thanks, and I bought them used off braswap a month ago. Chalking it up to trial and error. The 28GG Andorra is still my only bra I can wear under white shirts. I might just alter them.
-
There’s a 30F Jasmine in the giveaways. It was previously mine and I passed it on. Now they are passing it on.
-
Calluna I've been talking to them already :) there's also an altered 30F Panache Clara in the giveaways which may just be given to me. That reminds me the band on my 28HH - Panache » Sophie Nursing Bra (5821) is totalled and would probably be better off in a new collection. Just too lazy to measure it!

helpfulFor tall roots sometimes a half cup can work too?
Updated on September 2, 2019 Flag this
-
Only if you have soft tissue. Otherwise it just sticks straight up.
-
dbmamaz The only half cup I tried was the 28H - Cleo » Mimi Padded Balconnet Bra (8091) and it was way too big - I could have packed my lunch in the extra space at the top. Irrational animal that I am, I've been avoiding more half cups.
-
I wouldn’t avoid half cups, but I can see how a 28H would be huge on you.
-
namedoesntmatter Mimi was more projected and narrow than most UK brand halfcups. If you're interested in trying another, take a look at Freya's padded halfcups.
-
There’s a 65FF Ewa HM in the listings. Cups are narrow but very open on top. Back is quite tight. I think it’s a possibility given how the Envy and Jasmine you have fit (both of those you can probably do a 28FF instead of 28G. I’m going to snoop around your profile and see if I can find find out what else to suggest.
-
I think Freya half cups are going to be too wide for her.
-
hurrrrrmione I ordered the Freya Mode recently on sale in 28FF. Have no idea how it will fit but here's hoping!
-
Thank you Calluna !
-
You’re welcome. I’d suggest trying the Mimi again in 28FF. You’ll get close to a Polish fit if it’s a rose or spot print version. Freya Pop Art was fairly narrow for a Freya half cup but the found it was neither deep enough at the wire for me, nor short enough for my roots (tallish but shallow, so functionally short). I’m not sure how the Mode fit is.
-
There’s also this Comexim half cup listed, though I’m not sure if it’s going to be too small for you in the cups or not, because of the customizations/alterations. The user is similar size to you but different shape, I think. I think she’s maybe in the GTA as well.
-
That Comexim is really gorgeous, oh my goodness.
-
I think she might fit into the M range. Those run tight so she’d need a 65 or 70.
