Bra fitting help » Do you think this bra fits or is it worth sizing down a cup?
Ewa Michalak » Chp Marcepanowa Magnolia (694) » 60H 28:11
Issue resolved
Likely mismatch with my breast type/shape. Need more immediate projection at bottom of cup and larger band size/cup (i.e. 65H).
Alterations to consider: added depth at bottom of cup (1cm), overlapping gore, and moving straps in (2cm).
Original problem
Slight gaping on my smaller breast (right one). I don’t know whether it’s because I lack some fullness on top, or whether it is because the cup size is too big.
This is my first Polish bra (was a gift from a very kind and helpful person to work out what size I am). I want to make an order to Comexim or Ewa at the end of this month, or sooner, so I would like any feedback pls on what size I should get/possible alterations that might help me

helpfulI think its lovely on you! We usually recommend sizing the bra to your bigger size. You can always add a pad to the bottom of the cup on your smaller size. Is it comfortable?

Yes, Ewa has notoriously too-wide wires, but apparently thats how she gets the great support and projection at the same time.
-
dbmamaz What do you mean notoriously wide? Ewa Michalak generally has very narrow wires. Is it maybe just the CHP cut that runs wide?
-
Thinking she meant too-wide straps (: ?
-
Yes, sorry - I totally meant straps!! I was horrified to come back and see that I'd written 'wires'! lol
-
That makes much more sense lol

helpfulI'm thinking it may be on the smaller side as well, but not 2 cups IMO.
The CHP generally is built for low-ish coverage. You appear to be pretty 'dense/full', and the cup depth is a couple cm. less than your breast perimeter, which could indicate the need to size up 1 cup (depth needs differ from person to person though).
We could write a book about Ewa's strap placement haha, so yes - some DIY-alterations may be needed for you to wear something around this size comfortably in her bras. Positioning the straps more inward will definitely get rid of the minor gaping on your smaller side, but will probably also cause some quadding on the larger breast!
I'd guess you could do well in an Ewa 60HH or a 65H (how does the band feel on you? measurements seem quite tight). An alternative option may definitely be Comexim - they do offer alterations like straps moved in, extra depth at the wire et cetera.
Depending on what country you're in, it may be worthwhile to first order an unaltered Comexim through BreakOutBras (US based) or LACE lingerie (EU based) to determine what alterations you may need!

I agree that I’ve definitely got quite full boobs. I think going forward I’ll try a 65H next coz I’ve read around a bit over the last 2 days and it seems that stretching bands too much can cause wire distortion/weird fits. That may be a factor at play here and making the cups kinda fail to support me. But overall I think this bra just doesn’t work for me.
I just got a Comexim Ingrid Plunge Bra in 65M that I think fits pretty well (again — need a bit more projection at the bottom). I’ve added it to My Bras (in case you want to have a look). I think maybe the Ingrid Plunge runs small, though, because I’m only a UK 28HH/30H so I don’t think I’d need an M in Comexim bras normally. I wish I could shop at Break Out Bras but I’m in the UK. I think I might as well go direct to Comexim if I’m ordering from the EU anyways (rather than Lace Lingerie).
I think I’m gonna place a Comexim order in 65L (plus ask for 1cm extra depth at the bottom of the cup, but leave that straps to see how it works out first) at the end of this month, do you think that sounds good?
-
I think I’m still waiting for my pictures to be approved on the Ingrid btw!
-
Oh yeah when ordering from the UK you could order directly from Comexim of course! Forgot that when you order unaltered bras, you can obviously return them to Comexim's own webshop as well (;
Keep in mind though that bras with alterations are non-returnable.I'd say a 65 band would perhaps be wise, yes, as it also helps a little with strap placement.
65L with extra depth sounds about right?
I'm a UK32G/G and a Comexim 70K works well for me, but is too small in a 3HC (halfcup) style. So you may want to size up in those (or order them in a plunge style). -
Lovely, thank you so much for all your help!

helpfulIt looks too small to me by two cup sizes at least. The gore is floating and you have less coverage than I'd expect in a good fit (just generally - I'm not certain how much coverage CHPs typically give).
What alterations have been made to the bra?

2 cup sizes!? I think because of how open this bra is on top, anything bigger would have me drowning in the cup lol. But I get what you mean about coverage, it is on the lesser side — I think that might just be the style? And yeah, I noticed the gore doesn’t lie completely flat against me too. I read somewhere (I think on an ABTF post on Reddit) that because of how soft material Ewa and Comexim padded bras are, is not likely for close set boobs to get a proper tack at the gore and there will be a little distance. What do you think about that/what’s your experience been like?
The bra has had the lace trim along the top cut off. No other alterations.

I haven't worn any EM or Comexim bras but I have heard that their gore are designed to have a "soft tack" that sometimes means the gore is ever so slightly hovering above the skin. It can be hard to get a tack with close-set breasts regardless. Is there room for the gore to tack - if you press it into your chest with a finger, are the wires sitting on tissue? How much is it floating?
Gapping can happen when cups are too small or shallow, so although it is open on top it might not gap in a larger cup size. You can see in photos 9 and 10 that the cup is sticking up instead of curving back in like the breast tissue does.
Have you tried jumping up and down, bending over, etc. to see if the bra stays in place?
-
So, I did some of the things you mentioned and it seems the fit may not be as great as I thought aha (though, I still think it’s good enough).
When I press the gore into my chest, it does sit on tissue. I would definitely benefit from a thinner or overlapping gore. It floats about a pinkie finger’s width from my chest.
I jumped up and down and leaned forward — when I stood back up straight, the bra seemed to have slipped down from my IMF about a pointer finger’s width. I think I may need a bit more immediate projection at the bottom than the bra has. So, maybe that has something to do with what you mentioned about the bra looking pushed out in photos #9 and #10 rather than curving inwards?
-
It might, yeah. Although going up a cup size is going to give you wider wires of course, so maybe this bra is just a shape mismatch for you unfortunately.
You can alter the gore narrower yourself - there's some tutorials over here. (Also some tutorials for moving the straps in) https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/alterations
It will change the cup fit a bit though.

Oooh, thank you for that link! And yeah, I’m thinking I agree that this bra just isn’t for me.
-
Thank you! Yeah, it feels very comfortable. The only thing I’d maybe change would be to make the straps a bit closer together so they collide with my tail of spence less. I’ve been having an awkward time trying to find bras that fit comfortably over the last 4 months so I’m quite happy about this one :)
