Original problem
This is the first close to fitting bra I’ve had for about 3 years. The trouble is I still don’t 100% like the fit of it. The outermost upper area of the cup where the cup meets the straps still digs in. Everything else seems to fit from what I can tell. Obviously with no wire the center gore isn’t going to be flat but nothing else feels too tight. No quadboob, no weird wrinkling. My concern is that while this bra does fit, the band has a looooot of stretch to it. This is a 38G and fits fine other than the strap/cup area digging in a little, though it isn’t nearly as bad as other bras I’ve had and it did lessen with a bit of time wearing it, so that could just need to be broken in more. It took me several months to even get close to having this fitting bra. I have tried different models of Cacique bras including the backsmoother balconette and the front-close plunge bra, in sizes 40H and 40G respectively (based on recommendations from bratabase from my measurements.) In both of these the cup was too large and in both I had the same problem of the upper outside cup/strap joint area extremely digging in. I have also tried the Godddess Heather bra in 40G, which had too large cups, and the band was a bit big. These bras all ended up getting returned. I’m just trying to figure out my actual underwire bra size. Based on my measurements I should be in probably a 40-42 band but they always feel too big and slide around a little. This 38G seems to fit but I’m not sure if that’s just because of how stretchy this band is. I know this is a lot but I’ve been trying for a couple months to get a size narrowed down so I can finally have bras that fit. I’d like to have underwire bras. I mostly bought this non-underwire one because I figured it would at least be comfortable and good for chilling at home if nothing else. Any help in figuring out a better size and better styles of bras would be appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: these are my recommended/index sizes. 38F - 38FF - 38G - 40F - 40G - 42G
38:7 - 38:8 - 38:9 - 40:7 - 40:9 - 42:9

helpfulHi there! This does look like a decent fit to me, especially for a wireless / cotton bra (:
But yes indeed, quite a stretchy 38-band if it stretches up to 44 in.!Just based on your photos in this request, I'd guess you're not super dense/full - and for shape you also mention pointy - this can create some room for 'squish' if that makes sense, so you may need less than your full breast circumference for cup depth.. Do you know if this is correct, do you do well in shallower cups?
How are the cups on the side, did you swoop & scoop - and do you generally feel that wires are too wide or to narrow for you?
You mention the 'strap joint' area often digs in, do you mean near your armpit / tail of spence area? Maybe more balconette/half cup styles may work better then, as they have less materials in that area. Or bras with straps that are more placed inwards, if you know what I mean, as seems to be the case in this bra: https://www.bratabase.com/browse/elomi/matilda-plunge-bra-8900/40G/
For wired bras and less elastic materials, you may want to try a 40 band, perhaps with a slightly smaller cup I'm guessing.. So UK 40F/F? Not sure, but a larger cup does take up some 'band space' and I'm thinking you may prefer your cup / coverage area somewhat smaller - which also could help with the strap joint problem you have. Each brand fits differently of course, so may still be some trial and error.
I'm not personally familiar with Cacique but maybe Elomi, Sculptresse, Parfait or Tutti Rouge can be options for you to try? Like https://www.tuttirouge.com/collections/bras/size-40ff ?
Not sure if I've been any help, but maybe someone closer to your size range can reach out as well!

bubblegum I appreciate the suggestions. The area I’m talking about which digs in is essentially the part of the cup between the outer base of the strap and what’s normally the outer underwire area going towards the wing if that makes sense. It’s a bit hard to describe. It’s not in the armpit exactly but it is close. It digs in more on my larger side weirdly enough. I do know that underwires that are a little shorter on the outside are comfortable. And yes in the cups for bras I had issues with filling it was mostly a lack of depth (I did scoop and swoop). I did used to have a balconette bra a long time ago that fit fairly well I believe it was a Freya brand? Can’t remember the size of that one. Also yes all the sizes I mentioned have been the us sizing if that helps at all. I do know it gives the index sizes in uk sizing though. Funny enough I have had that exact same Matilda bra in black before in a 38DDD a few years ago lol. It fit decent enough but I still had issues with the straps sliding off.
