Bra fitting help » Wire width, cup height and gore width?
Glamorise » Feeling Lacey Front-close Underwire (9246) » 34F 34:6
Please critique this fit. It’s comfortable enough, but I think the gore might be wrong and I’m pretty sure the cups are too tall. Are the wires wide enough? Too wide? I know the band looks too tight, but any bigger and it slides around. It’s comfortable. Please give me any tips you can!

helpfulI think the cups are more likely too shallow than too separate for you. The wrinkles usually appear at bottom when the shallow cups combine with a tight band. I can't find any tissue cutting according to your side view, maybe the wires are too hard or not flexible?
Guess bras with similar stretched band and cup width but a cup depth of 27-29 cm can work better on you.

helpfulThe gore is way too wide for sure. I think the cups are too big and maybe too shallow, but it's hard to tell where your root is landing relative to the wire. Do you often find wires are too low for your frame? You may need more projected brands in a smaller cup size, and/or you might be high-set like me.

Ok, yes, gore too wide, check. :) Cups possibly too shallow, ok, got it. :) Do you mean the cups are too wide? As in too big horizontally? I have trouble figuring out where the wire should go- I seem to have roots that go to the middle of my armpits, but that’s at the top, the bottom isn’t really quite that far. I will experiment with narrower cups and more projection. Thank you!
I don’t know if I’m actually high set, but I’m 4’11”, so there’s not much room vertically to begin with. So, yes, I often find that the cups are too tall, and the deepest part of the cup is not where I’m most projected (which is pretty much right at the wire as far as I can tell), so my boobs push the cups down and the wires then sit too low.
Thanks for the help!

Ahh, yeah, being on the shorter side will definitely lead to shorter roots and less room to work with vertically! And cups being wide does mean they go too far out to the side, yes. I have a similar issue as you mention—I'm just average width under my arms, but underwires tend to run long and way too wide under my IMF.
I thought my issue with dozens upon dozens of bras was my projection, but nope. I was buying bras that were set too low/had wires too long for me. I'm also Omega-shaped (it's not just a side-to-side phenomenon!) which doesn't help, but the bras that fit my "immediate projection" are often FOT bras for short roots. Go figure!
When your bra sits too low on your body, it can cause the top to hit too low, leading to quadding at the top, leading you to keep sizing up until it appear to fit. But in reality, you would have been better off potentially sizing *down* instead to get the wire closer to your IMF which would lift you and handle your projection. (Obviously, sometimes it's just a massive shape mismatch and no amount of sizing up or down will help!)
I'm not sure they make it in your size, but Elomi Lydia is great for short roots. It's a little wide, but that's not a huge problem as long as it doesn't hurt (and it doesn't, for me). It's a petite bra, too, so it's gloriously short!

Ooo, I looked at the Lydia, and looks like the cups on the 32GG would be a good bet. Thank you for that tip! Extenders are my friend.
I also have that “wires are too long” issue pretty often- because there’s almost no room vertically! So any wing over 4.5 inches is gonna poke me under the arm and any gore over like 3.5 inches is gonna hit me higher than my roots. Cups taller than about 8 inches are too tall. So I’ve been looking into half and 3/4 cups to solve the cup height problem and maybe some plunges for the shorter wires, but that often comes back to bite me because the wider set straps are kinda tricky on my slopey narrow shoulders (maybe not that narrow compared to the rest of my frame, but that’s not saying very much, LOL) and plunges sometimes think they wanna have super high wings.
As far as the bra being set too low, I don’t really encounter that issue the way you’ve described- I pretty much never have quad boob, unless the rest of the cup is clearly far far too small. Even then, my roots are so short that though I’m technically FOT, it makes no difference. I’m gonna have to check out some of those FOT for short roots bras you talk about.
Now I’m gonna go look at all the bras that fit you and read your reviews. Thanks for the help! :)

Good luck! :)

Thank you! I don’t usually think of cups not being projected enough. I will begin looking for cups with the amount of projection you suggest. Good to know that there’s no obvious tissue cutting. 😀
