Bra fitting help » Pain on ribs after wearing for a full day.
Wacoal » Halo Lace Underwire Bra (851205) » 34DDD 34:6
Issue resolved
Concluded that the style is wrong for me and I should try a different one.
Original problem
This bra was very comfortable so I decided to buy it but after the first full day wearing it my ribs started to hurt directly under my breasts.
The underwire follows my roots well and doesn’t sit on breast tissue except in the middle (I seem to have symmastia and even the narrowest and shortest gores sit on breast tissue). For most bras that hurts but it doesn’t in this one.
The bra is tight enough to not shift around and this is the best support apart from a compression sports bra that I’ve had so far.

helpfulI think the issue could be that it is a bandless style - in those styles the wires always hurt me even if the size is right. If you are confused what is meant by bandless, check out this post: https://www.panache-lingerie.com/us/journal/what-is-a-bandless-bra there are comparison pics of the two styles. Banded bra for me usually keep the raw wire from digging in as the underband stays better in place.

bubblegum Thanks for this explanation. I really thought hard how I can explain why those bras can cause pain, but couldn't find the right words! It totally makes sense, since each bandless bra I tried was also incredibly shallow in the bottom!

I think bandless bra give more shallow and wide cup shape in general because the wire not stabilized by a full band can distort more easily.

I think this might be the cause thanks

helpfulI don't have any helpful suggestions. I just wanted to say that I have two Wacoal wireless bras that fit well and seem comfortable at first, but I always have the same experience as you. After a while, they hurt me in the area where underwires would be. I can't figure out why.

Same for me alisa .
In bandless bras the wires are attached/constructed differently, hovering a little 'below' the band-line for some reason, pressing into the rib area.
To further aggravate this I also feel that bandless bras are usually less projected, causing the cups to slide down onto my ribs during the day.
That might be what's happening to you, Lunamoon ?
