Bra fitting help » Wrong shape or wrong cup size? Gaping at top of cups but everything else fits
Comexim » Basic Half Cup » 80HH 36:9
Hi there, this is my first time posting so please let me know if I mess it up haha. I'm typically a 36H (UK), but at the advice of the Amazon listing in my hunt for a bra that lets me have cleavage, I ordered a 36HH. This is my first Comexim bra, I usually go for Elomi plunge styles. I only recently realized that not having my underwire sit in the intramammary fold was an issue, I've never had a bra that sat there in the fold and stayed put. My new Comexim arrived yesterday, and the narrow wires seem to fit my narrow roots and Omega shape perfectly. The band is perfect, and the bottoms of the cups are comfortable. The tops of the cups, however, will not fill even after thorough swooping and scooping. Do I need a smaller cup? The listing recommended one size up for cleavage boosting as it says Comexim bras run two cup sizes too small on average. I think this bra looks great from the front and back, just not at the top, and it makes me look like I'm trying to smuggle something when it's under a shirt.
My measurements:
Loose Underbust: 37"
Snug Underbust: 36"
Tight Underbust: 35"
Standing Bust: 46"
Leaning Bust: 48"
Lying Bust: 46"

helpfulHmm, looking at your measurements, something seems off:
Because a 45cm. / 18 inch horizontal perimeter would not logically fit into a 27cm. / 11 inch cup depth
(the horizontal perimeter is basically your breast tissue, measured from sternum to armpit, and it should pretty closely match the cup depth, for most people - somewhat depending on tissue firmness et cetera)Same for the band: measuring from 66 cm / 26 inch unstretched, to 101 cm / 40 inch stretched - that seems a LOT. So maybe re-take your measurements?
Visually; I'd say you're pretty close to an good fit! Hurrah!
If you would like to fine-tune, yes; trying a size down might do the trick.
But it could also turn out too small - especially with the projection being pretty spot-on in this size.Comexim does do alterations, when ordered from them directly.
Going by the pictures, you could try asking for one size down but with additional depth at the wire, and lowered cups? To help with the empty space up top, but not loose too much projection.Good luck!

I think the bra is being warped a bit and the wires being pulled artificially wide - I think going up in band should offset any issues cause by going down in cup

helpfulOh god. Their half cups do this to me too. It's a matter of you having the correct size, but their design is too tall in the cup for your inner breast. Many people have one size for cup width, frame (front part of the band including wing & gore), another size for their bottom cup depth and yet another size for breast width/perimeter- not great to find a decent fit in ready-to-wear. Shape here is right, except cup height near gore.
Perhaps you have a skilled tailor an a local alterations shop who can pick the seams and lower this inner panel to required height?
Requesting a half sized version is very tricky, and they tend to 'overthink' the adjustment. Almost not worth ordering custom 4 times to get one right, over.Updated on January 13, 2022 Flag this
You're right! I think I reached too far back into my armpit when measuring the first time, because when I redid it just now it was closer to 15" horizontal perimeter. The cup of the bra may be closer to 12" as well, it's a shift padded cup so a little difficult to measure accurately. I ordered from Amazon through Breakout Bras. If I go down a cup size, I would keep the band the same, right? Also, yes, the band is that stretchy haha.
