Bra fitting help » Band creeps down, but closest I own to a good fit. Natori 32DDD
Natori » Natori Sheer Glamour Full Fit Contour Underwire (731252) » 32DDD 32:6
I've owned this bra for a few months now. It mostly fits ok (better than all the others I own) but it feels like it's getting pushed down during the day, despite it being my smallest band bra. Also quad boob sometimes. I bought this to be a daily driver when the 32DD I bought to replace my old daily driver was too loose in the band and it was too irritating to wear after about 2 weeks. Band is comfortable otherwise, and wires feel like the right width (narrower) compared to every other bra I own. When pushed down, there's about 1/2" between underwire and bottom of boobs. This is the closest I've ever been to a proper fit, but it's still lacking. Looking for sizing/shape advice. I always thought I had very wide, shallow boobs, but now thinking maybe that's not accureate. Molded cups preferred due to piercings, but all suggestions welcome. TYIA!

helpfulI think the bra is too shallow for you. Natori's bras are some of the shallowest out there and I run into this same problem. You're right that you are shallow, just not as shallow as the shape of this bra. They get a lot of flack, but VS carries molded bras in your size range and they are slightly more projected, still shallow. Not sure if they would be too wide. You won't be getting natori's quality with them, so I'd only recommend buying them on sale.

helpfulHey! Not being able to fill the bottom of the cup means the bra lacks the immediate projection that you require. So that means the bra doesn’t go out from under the wire, but slowly curves up whereas your breasts are projected right from your IM- there is no tapered curve. Also, the band looks like it’s riding up, and based on your measurements I would suggest trying a 30 band instead, and perhaps using an extender for the first few wears to “break it in.” Considering Natori is infamously shallow, I suggest maybe looking at different brands- I personally love Ewa Michalak’s padded styles (PL and S), I would suggest for you a 70F/70E as they are much more projected (EM bands run tight, I would stick with the 70 and not the 65 band.) if you have wider roots (EM is quite narrow) I would suggest the Panache Envy in a 30F (same cup volume as the 32E you are currently wearing, as US DDD=UK E) in UK sizing, so a 30DDDD US. The bras above are much more accommodating towards immediate projection. You can check Bratabase for the measurements of the above and decide for yourself what bras would work with your body the best. Also, moulded cups are very difficult to fit, most people cannot find their perfect fit in moulded cup bras because they don’t conform to your shape, they expect you to conform to their shape instead.

I never really understood what projection was (I thought of it more as perkiness I guess?) but you made it easy to understand. I also never thought to compare the measurements across different bras, what a forehead slapping moment!
I just ordered the Envy to try because it's more in line with my budget but I did make note of your Michalak suggestions as well. I know molded cups aren't great, I just feel pigeon holed due to the jewelry and soft tissue, it's at least a shape that's not 'weird pyramid' or 'trussed ham'.
Thank you so much for the detailed response, I learned a lot from it and I love that :) -
@DDormanu so, projection is probably the opposite of what we know as perkiness, actually! All women with pendulous breasts have high projection! (I know, so much new lingo and terminology) and a lot of women with perkier boobs have shallow breasts because they have less tissue sticking out from a narrow base!
Also, Ewa’s bras have additional pads that can be used to correct asymmetry but they can probably help with covering your piercings as well. Their padded styles are quite padded! If Ewa is out of your budget, I suggest comexim for you. I believe their bras are actually cheaper than UK brands, and they’re also great at offering highly projected and narrow padded shapes (like 90% their catalog are padded plunges). Plus they can do alterations for free

Thank you for your response! I especially appreciate the "only recommend buying them on sale", that's 100% my style. I haven't been in a VS in about 20 years but I'll see what they're like nowadays; I have an Aerie 32ddd that fits in the cups but the wires almost wrap around my back haha. Thanks for the suggestion :)
