Starting Notes
Polish haul bra three of six to review!! Sorry they're so spaced out. Writing such extensive reviews makes me procrastinate, plus a bunch of power outages due to surprise weather, equals gaps in review time. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> I bought this Gaia Adeline bra in both beige and black. I thought the black one was a different colorway, as they had the wrong product photo, but more on that later. They do fit a tiny bit differently, so I'll make some notes on that as I go along. This is the review for the beige colorway.
Wires
From the time I first put it on, ... to the time I take the bra off, the wire width seems good, but the shape is not perfect. It follows the curve of my root from sternum to the bottom of my breast, and then it's too rounded on the side. You can see the wedge of empty fabric; I added a photo with a red line showing where my root is in comparison to the wire shape. The wires are too tall in front, and they're a bit too separated from me as well. Unfortunately, these underwire problems cause the bra to slide down. I've had this happen to bras in the past; I think Cleo Marcie was one of them. The slant of my sternum just disagrees with the wire height and gore shape! Despite it sliding, I didn't quad by the end of the day. Throughout the day I felt the need to keep pushing my bra up, but then it would press on the sore spot on my sternum, so eventually I just gave up. It's more comfortable sitting not quite half an inch too low. Not having very heavy breasts, I didn't notice a lack of support from sitting lower. So either I'll just leave the bra as-is (it's an excellent "nude" bra for me to have around) or try to adjust the wire height at the gore.
Cup Shape
Not quite pointy, not quite rounded. It gathers my breasts out of my armpits, but doesn't push them together, but rather very forward and separated. Looking top down, I get an almost torpedo shape! Luckily the sides are tall enough and underarm elastic tight enough that despite wide straps, I don't get any spill back into my armpits. And the upper cup is also either just the right shape or stretchy enough to not cut into my upper fullness!
Projection
It's very projected in the middle, and immediate projection is excellent as well. From my photo of just the cup at side view, you can see the rounded shape. There's a tiny bit of space right above the underwire that looks kind of more flat off the body, but on my body it looks like it's almost a 90 degree angle with my body at the very bottom of the cup.
Band
It measure as very small max stretch for technically a 30 band, BUT the wings are a spandex-like knit, not powermesh. They feel stretchy and the wings stretch more than the band elastics, which creates dreaded bulges. I had a first set of photos, but they were more blurry, and I had it on the first set of hooks. I guess despite being tight, the stretchiness of the band made me want to wear it on the second set of hooks when I re-did the photos? It does look like it cuts into me more in the second set (the ones uploaded here). I will probably wear it regularly on the first set, but I took some photos of after wearing it for a day, and the band appears to be curving up directly below the straps in back. I can see this bra relaxing VERY quickly. Also, there's something weird going on with the bottom band elastic, like it was stretched too hard when sewing it along the curve of the cradle. Both underwires tack, quite hard in fact, and despite my rib flares, the elastic still curls up and away from me. You can see this in the photo of it lying flat a bit as well. I provided a photos for visuals.
Straps
Firm elastic. A bit wide-set, and I would consider them short as well. Being so wide, I feel like I have to tighten them a bit to prevent them from falling off my shoulders. This probably partially contributes to the bra riding up in back, and it creates angry red marks on my shoulders darker than usual.
Appearance
Alright, despite me being nit-picky about the fit so far, I find this bra so beautiful. But it's so simple, how, why?! The fact that the color matches me so well, and the subtle mesh lace is a light mauve over the beige, it's just SO visually appealing to me. None of the photos do it justice; the natural daylight makes it look too orangy, the front-facing camera photos washes it (and me) out, the photos with flash make it just a bit too pink... I'll have to experiment with lighting and a bit of color editing to try to get its true color photographed! Now as for wearing appearance, I like the extreme forwardness I see when I look down. But under clothes... meh? From my three-quarter view with my black tank top on, it's just kind of a straight line from my color bone down to the apex. It looks too upside-down 7 shaped (on no, that's my natural shape!!). I would actually rather lose just a tiny bit of that projection if it would round out my profile just a smidgen. Aaaand "back fat..." I just HATE the combo of firm elastic and stretchy wing fabric. Where bras normally fit smoothly, this combo creates the most unflattering bulges! D': And it gets worse throughout the day as the front goes down and back gets pulled up.
Comfort
I touched on this before, the gore is just TOO DAMN TALL. WHY ARE ALL THE GORES SO TALL?? Tall gore = my sternum wants to explode. Also, straps have to be too tight to feel like they won't fall off, so uncomfortable shoulders by the end of the day. Overall, by the time the bra has slid down and the band been pulled up a tiny bit in the back, it's not too bad. It's not killing me like the Gorsenia Miriam bra, but obviously it would be if it were to sit in the right place. So comfort is just "ok."
Summary
I like this bra. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. Honestly, when I first put it on, I thought it would be my new holy grail bra. I was stunned at the projection I got! At first, it fits my shape so well, makes me super projected, and the color is pretty. BUT, by the end of the day, I just like it. That's all. The gore hurts me, it causes the bra to slide down, it's just an ok shape under clothing, the straps are a bit too wide, and the band isn't powermesh. WHERE'S MY POWERMESH?! It will stick around and be part of my ever growing rotation. And now it's here, for bra science. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" />
