Which one has more narrow wires????
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
I got four CK bras on Boxing Day sales from Bras N Things with their try before you buy online shopping thing, and now I'm trying to decide which one(s) to keep. Any assistance/opinions would be a great help because I'm not sure if I'm just glad to not have my boobs squished uncomfortably into E/F cups, or if these are actually great fits. Thanks in advance!

36G seems more comfortable on your body. I don't know about dreamcatcher but portia is very classic bra in CK and gia bra is unpadded bra but work like padded one -at least for me, it does- just go ! Pock up you like!!! Enjoy your lovely boxing day!!!!
I like 36G Gia and 38FF Dreamcatcher. They look really good on you! The Portia, ummm I know you could find a better fit than the Portia. :)
Keep 3 & 4 and send back 1 & 2. :)

New blog post up. Now my brain needs a recharge before the next one. lol.
I've been thinking for a while now about doing a post on chest shape issues. I know I've promised a few people to discuss that subject in a bit more depth. I mentioned in my first post that having ...

I have been thinking about getting more Gossard bras since the Beau Plunge has fitted me so well. Should I buy the Gossard Superboost Satin Plunge? Should I look at the Gossard Cosmetix too?

I don't know. I read that the wires are short on the side of the superboost plunge. I really like my Gossard bras. But they have the same cut. Gossard bras are gorgeous. I want to try a Glossie bra.
I found something. http://bra.pe/ABOj

Panache/Cleo 32E soft bras: quadboob.
Panache/Cleo 32F soft bras: wrinkling.
Curvy Kate 32E soft bras : ouch, too little space!
Curvy Kate 32F soft bras : yay, I would fit here another two breasts.
Curvy Kate 32E plunges : quadboob, but cleavage!
Curvy Kate 32F plunges: breasts disappeared, no cleavage whatsoever.
Curvy Kate 32E balconettes : nips sticking out
Curvy Kate 32F balconettes : my boobs disappeared on the bottom of a wishing well
Curvy Kate 30FF balconettes: cups are perfect! But the band is too tight.

Yeah, the more I stare at the measurements for the bras, the more I realize that a full inch difference in cup depth from one size to the next is . . . a lot. I think thats part of what makes some bras fit better than others - if one brand goes from 13.3 to 14.3, but the other brand goes from 13.7 to 14.7 . . . totally different . .
There are massive sizing differences between different Cleo "soft bras". Some run smaller/shallower, others run deeper. I would not give up unless you tried the very same model in the very same color (!) in 2 different sizes and both did not fit.

Does anyone know a good place to get those band extender pieces? I've never used those before.

I got mine at Jo Ann's, but I've seen them on amazon and lots of made in China type website.
They might have them somewhere like Walmart or Target in the 'bra solutions' area-it's easy to miss, so you can ask an associate for help. I know they used to, several years ago-about 3 years ago, I worked at Fashion Bug and a lot of ladies said they bought them from there. =^_^=

I Think I need 60N or 55O but I found both were measured like 28inches and 55 is close to 28 and 60is more like 29. what if I ask to make 55O do they charge me or is it just same prize with custome design?
and can anyone tell what's the different of 60 and 55 in fitting? how does it feel? does it feel really different?
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
I can't speak to the band size differences, but there is no extra charge for 55 bands. I'd suggest going that way vs. 60, as Comexim starts out quite tight, but stretches out over time. I generally have to wear an extender at first, but after 1 or 2 wears, it's stretched out enough that I can wear it fine without one.
If when using the compare bras thing, it says "The band is pretty much the same in both bras. The cups are quite similar in both bras" and the one bra is one I own and fits me, do you think it is safe to say the bra I am comparing it to will also fit?

Check the width as well as the depth, because the same depth spread out over a wider base will fit differently. I also read the reviews to see what peoples complaints are.
All that tells you is that those two bras are about the same size, if their wire placement is similar. It's more accurate to look at the cup construction of your fitting bra and for one similar to that and then look for the right cup size.

I just received two Parfait By Affinitas sets for Christmas - hooray! My very favorite bra is by Parfait (Parfait By Affinitas Odette Padded Bra (5201), so I requested the bras in the same size as that one: 30E. One of them fits very well (Parfait By Affinitas Anna Wire Bra (3602) but the ... second has some issues (Parfait By Affinitas Florence Balconet Bra (4412). The cups seem to fit relatively well in terms of volume, but the wire is wider than my Odette 30E, and the straps (the bra can go strapless) are wider set and therefore cut into my armpit. Additionally, the band felt looser than my very comfortably snug Odette.
Should I exchange it for a 28F, or 28E? My main concern is the wide-set straps, since I do not want them to cut into my armpit like that. I could go a teeny bit smaller in the cup, but not too much and I'm not sure how much smaller the 28E would get.
Thanks for any and all help! I'm still new to this.

It looks like a 30 band is the smallest available for the Florence. You could alter the band down, bend the wires narrower, and resew the loops for the straps to attach so they're closer in. It sounds like a lot of work, but it all depends how much you like this bra and want it to work. If you've got other options for a suitable strapless I'd say let this one go
So, today I received my first bra since learning all the ins and outs of proper sizing. It's a 28GG Curvy Kate Princess. The very first thing I noticed after trying it on is how tight it is. That's alright, I expected that a 28 band would feel tight after years of wearing a 36 band. The straps felt very ... tight and itchy, but once I loosened those up it was all good in that department. After a while of wearing it, the feeling of tightness around my ribs and back lessened to more of a comfortably snug sensation than a squeezing one. The cup size actually fits! So that's amazing. The only thing I find that isn't correcting itself with time is the feeling of the gore.
Now, I obviously have not wore a correctly fitting bra probably ever in my life, so I'm not sure if this is just one of those new feelings to get used to, but I find that I am very aware of the gore pressing on my sternum It doesn't hurt or hinder my breathing, it's mostly just uncomfortable and distracting. I feel like a cat with tape on my paws-- it's not killing me, but I feel an urge to pull it off and away from my chest.
I don't know if the uncomfortableness is a result of Curvy Kate's industrial grade underwires, a too small band, or just my own inexperience. However, I think for my next purchase I might just try a 30G...

Welcome to a terrific community.
I recently acquired one of these bras and I love it! I wasn't sure if it'd work for me, but it does. I hope it does for you as well, but if not, list it!
I haven't figured the gore thing out yet, either. I'm sure there's a pattern to what height/width of gore is most comfortable for me, but I haven't figured it out yet. What I have noticed is that a really snug fitting gore makes me feel really supported in a way I wouldn't have even thought was possible, although yes, it does take some adjusting to (the one I have on right now -- Panache Jasmine -- feels too tall at first but gets more comfortable as the day goes on).

I sorta just ripped the bra in my first post, but I put it back on, made some adjustments, and... it's not so bad. Really. Under a tight t-shirt, no, I don't think so. Under a sweater or hoodie? Like the bra is much too pretty and actually fits me well... It would be a gret way to update a ... dowdy sweater day without anyone knowing, know what I mean? Pictures to come.
I have a lot of back fat :/ so I gotta make peace with both bras and how the bands look. I wish I had someone to help me swoop and scoop and push all the extra bits back in place.

I received my bras from Brastop today-- second order, as my first shipment of bras were both too big. I ordered the Curvy Kate Smoothie and the Ultimo Valentina (from the new fuller bust line).
The Smoothie went well, really well. I am tickled pink to be wearing a bra that fits! I ordered it in the last big size available- ... 38F- and I think a FF would've been a really snug fit, but the F does the trick. Band is comfy and supportive, everything's in place. I get great cleavage, annnd my boobs aren't slipping out like in my old 40DDD! THEY'RE IN THERE, Y'ALL!
The Valentina on the other hand... yikes. Unless you like loosely supported pointed boobs. I don't, so I'll be sending that back across the pond.

Wait--the 38F fits great, but the 38FF would've been too tight?
learningaboutbras Wait... I think you got me. I meant too big. Like, I feel the 38F fits really well but could be a miniscule amount bigger. If I would've ordered my true size, 38FF (and didn't take the advice of other reviewers who said to go down a cup, I'd be swimming in it.
Yes, that is what I meant to say. lol Thanks for catching me.
Hey everyone! I have a query about the Panache Sports Bra. I have it in a 36 GG and it fits great everywhere except for the top near the gore. The gore is about an inch away from tacking and the material that extends beyond the wires is even further away. Despite the gore problems, I don't spill out; ... there is actually little bit of empty space where the top of the cups are being pulled taunt by the gore tipping away from my sternum.
Does this mean I need to size up or down in the cup? Or is it just the wrong shape? I will hopefully get around to posting a 'fit help request' but thought I would get some opinions in the mean time.

i own a 30D. for me, the gore tacks and the material beyond the gore does not. i also have some empty space at the top, but not because the cup fabric is taut.
maybe the cups aren't projected enough. would it be too much trouble to go up a cup size?
I have one in 36H and the gore never tacked. Actually I have the same issues with it as you described. But I also have to say that I never figured out how to avoid this and just wore my 36H bras, since they were comfortable and I had no spillage. (also have to add, that I mainly wore them at home as a lounging bra not for exercise)
Maybe you could size down in band or cups? I'm not sure...
I'd really recommend doing a fit request since you will get much better advice.

I am new to 'extended' bra sizing and had never heard of sizes larger than an E until recently. I have now kinda figured out my correct size; I am very confident in my band size but am slightly befuddled by cup sizing. Since I have to buy my bras online (because Canada has a dismal selection in stores) ... I find that I am often guessing about what cup size I really need.
So, I have some questions for everyone. What is the relationship between cup depth and breast perimeter? Are depth and perimeter supposed to be equal? Should cup depth be shallower than breast measurement in order to give more support? If so, then by how much? Does anyone have any advice?

For me It's okay not equal up to 1.5 inches. like my breast perimeter is 13.5inches but I can wear 12inches of half cup bra and I think Its depends on people because we have all different shape and preference.
In your size range, standing breast perimeter is usually not that directly helpful (unless you have augmented or early-teens breasts with little to no sag or stretching of skin). On the other hand if you find it is physically possible to take a lying down perimeter measurement where the breast is "balanced" on top of your torso (as opposed to hanging off the side of the torso) that can provide a pretty close representation of ideal cup depth.

Ok so I got a bra that's been altered from a 36 band down to a 28. Do I add it as a 36 like the tags say with note of alteration or as a 28 like it is now?
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
If the tag says 36, add it as that and mark as altered. Even if a band is altered perfectly, there are some dimensions that will still vary from a bra made in the altered size from the start.
Ok that's what I thought just wanted to double check.

CK Carmen 28HH , Tease 28J and Ritzy I don't know.
I read some review and some says Its true to size some says its big
Some says Ritzy has same pattern as Tease
Has anyone tried Ritzy recently?
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
I have the ritzy but my size is very far from you! I think it's true to size and it's one/two sizes smaller than what I normally wear in CKs bras.
In my size range it's very similar to ck entice and tease me, but not in the same sizes (+1 in tease me and +2 in entice).
Good to know animated Thank you so much :)
I finally took the plunge and went in to the only "fancy schmancy" lingerie store that I know of within an hour of my house. They're the ones where they don't measure you, no tape at all. Just take off your shirt, let me see you in your bra, what size are you wearing, and "I'll be right ... back with a few options" kind of place. Also WAY out of my price range kind of place. But since VS had always been "my kind of place" and I'm still trying to find out what my real size range is, I went there for a proper fitting and a sampling of some of their offerings. Sadly, they had nothing less than a 30. So my whole fitting went like this, "Let's see what fits and then we'll just write down how much we need to alter it for you." Ok, great. And alterations are free, so if I had $200 to spend on a bra that wasn't even my size then that would just be fabulous. But I don't. I do think I was able to at least get a little more info about my sizing even though I feel like I'll have to translate into another language or break the code to determine what it really means. I'm guessing that the bras she tried on me do not exist in my size (otherwise why wouldn't they just order them in my size instead of altering?) But maybe some of you have fit well into these bras and know how they translate into and compare with other bras that actually do come in my size and can point me in the right direction.
She wrote down 6 bras for me, and what needed to be done. Maybe you all can help, maybe not. But here goes:
1. Prima Donna Symphony Tulip 32F (take down 1 band size)
2. Lise Charmel Taj Mystery Demi 32E (take down 1 band size, shorten straps 1.5")
3. Prima Donna Coture Balconet Tulip all lace 32E (take down 1 band size)
4. Prima Donna Diamond Plunge 32F (take down 1 band size)
5. Audabe Fleur De Pommier 32F (take down 1.5 band size, shorten straps)
6. Empreiente Marlene Balconnet 30F (no alteration needed)
Obviously taking these band sizes down would make the technical cup size go up, but if these bras aren't made in those sizes then I'm hoping maybe you know of bras that are built and fit similarly that I could try in a less mortgage size price range.
I do have to note that some of them made me feel pretty small in my profile. I am guessing that is what you're all referring to when you say projection? Some of them just greatly minimized that even though they didn't feel compressing. So while they were beautiful and all, I'd rather not have my bra make me feel like I just had a breast reduction when I had an augmentation instead. I tried on so many that I'm having a hard time keeping them straight, but there were 2 that I tried that I actually liked the profile (projection?) and they were both Empreiente. We only wrote the one down because I initially ruled it out because of the lace on top. The bra fit perfectly but it has an overlay of lace, which is of course gorgeous, but that lace seemed to pucker just a tad and it made me self conscious. Which was really stupid because I could move the lace and see that the mesh fabric hugged me perfectly. Do they just do that? Is it just something that just is wrong for my breast shape? They both did it, and they were the only ones that I didn't feel like I had a boob reduction looking at my profile. Is there another bra that you're aware of that tends to shape you similarly? It felt more like that overall look was the actual shape of my breast without a bra on, but just with really pretty wrapping on it. But I don't want to have to feel self conscious if the loose lace is making me look like it's too small.
Sorry for the novel, I wish I had people that I knew in real life who knew anything about bras but I just don't.

I know someone on bratabase who can alter your bras for you. She is so good that she could make money doing it.
I bet she would charge you less than those bras cost. If you could find them at a better price instead of the (I'm freak in' rich!!!) store. LOL
Also, I think you and her wear the same size too. Or are close. :)
Good for trades when a bra is too small or too big, you girls could trade. She's really A+ at altering. I've had 2 of her bras come to me and they were perfect. I couldn't tell they were altered. One of them, I gave away to someone who is bigger than me and the other (30E - Alexis Smith ยป Satin Plunge), I kept because it fits me like a glove. The Alexis Smith was a 30E, but she changed the band to an 28 band.
I think the Prima Donna have a lot of projection, so that could be part of what you need. I dont know the other brand, and that Marlene doenst seem to be in this database. Because sometimes you can find a bra that fits you and find someone who reviewed it and then see what else fits her, kwim?

I own a Freya Taylor 30G and the size is perfect..most of the month, I get some over spillage sometimes. I also own a Freya Deco Moulded Plunge of the same size and it gaps on top, so I think it might be one cup size to big. I wanna get the Freya Lets Twist Again Underwire Plunge Balcony Bra ... and the Freya Deco Honey Underwire Moulded Plunge Bra. What size should I get in those two? I will be ordering online so I can't try them on first.
Some say the Taylor runs small to size and other says the Deco runs big to size.. Could someone confirm this with other Freyas they own.
Thank you

You should look at these bras on this website in the sizes you are thinking of and check out the cup depth, and see how they all compare. thats the best indicator of cup size.
Great answer. But I compared the 30G Taylor vs. Deco and they both have similar if not same measurements for the cup depth.. when one clearly is a cup size to big one me. So I won't only rely on that. Thanks :)

So I think I'm going to try a Comexim bra, probably just the Comexim Basic (170). I was planning to just order from Wellfitting. But a couple questions:
Does it really take four weeks or more to get the bra?
Sizing seems confusing. If I assume 65=30 like usual, and that Wellfitting's 30 is Comexim's 65, is that right? It ... seems a bit smaller than most of my measurements for a 30 band, but maybe it's fine. And cup sizes seem to run small, since Bratabase says that a 65H would actually be a 30:8. So I'm trying to decide if I need a 30:10 or 11 or 9 or what, but thinking maybe the 65J?

My comexims are direct (purchased through other users though). I'm between a 32-34 so I prefer the 75(34). In uk bras I'm usually a 32GG (32:10) and a comexim 75J (34:10) seems like my best fit. 75HH (34:9) works ok-ish but is SUPER cleavage-y. I'm by no means an expert in comexim so take that as you will. Maybe ginganinja can offer more help?
You rang? :D
If you've never tried Comexim before, I suggest ordering it from Wellfitting first, as the exchange and return process is super easy. Once you figure out your size, you can start ordering from Comexim directly, as it's pretty easy and much, much cheaper. The Basic is a good one to order from there as well, because it's not that much more expensive than it would be if you ordered it from Comexim directly, whereas all the others have a ridiculous up-charge.
You are correct in that Comexim's 65 = Wellfitting's 30. The band sizes are the EU equivalent (like with Ewa Michalak), but the cup sizes on Wellfitting's site are based on Comexim's cup sizes. So Wellfitting's 30J is the same as Comexim's 65J.
As for the cup size you should get, I've found that their cups run appropriate to the EU sizing chart -- but this is just my own experience. My current size is between a 32H and 34GG, and my best fitting Comexim size is 75J. As the band runs tight, if you're between band sizes, I definitely suggest sizing up. If you're a solid 30, though, I think you'd be ok with that band size in Comexim.
My suggestion for finding your size is to go by the method you seem to already be using. I counted up from how many cups GG is (10), and that lead me to Comexim's J cup.
Generally speaking, I've found Comexim cup sizes to run true to size. However, the Basic does run about a cup size small, so I suggest sizing up in the cup for that bra. I have a 75K Basic that fits perfectly, but that would definitely be too big in any of their other models.
As for the time it'll take from Wellfitting, it really varies. You can count on at least 3 weeks. But it's taken up to 5 or 6 before. Once you start ordering from Comexim, it should only take about 2-3 weeks from the time you hear back from the shop. However, it may take up to 2 weeks to hear back from them. Patience is a virtue when it comes to these Polish wonders!
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know. :D

After my recent fit request, I've been thinking. Any suggestions for a bra that doesn't go way out in my armpits, either straps or the outside edges of the cups? I'm starting to wonder if that's causing fitting issues for me.

idk, when I look at a picture of your Panache, it looks like the wires arent so much narrower as shorter. It also looks like the last few things you posted were too big for you overall, right?
I hear Comexim has narrow straps. And EM is supposed to be wide. Though some styles like the 3D are supposed to be closer. I found that sizing down cups helped. I was an F and an E fit mich better overall.
