For those that haven't played with it. I made a sample site that uses the new option to Connect with Bratabase.
This site does not share the database with Bratabase.com it reads your bras after you authorize it to and shows you the most common size you've gotten.
If anybody is interested on how it works, its code is available at https://github.com/Bratabase/bratabase-connect-demo#understanding-the-code

Last night I finally made public the Bratabase API. It is a way for others to be able to use the database information without having to copy and paste into other files, so you can query the data and use it as you think necessary.
This is a huge deal because it allows others to make applications using the data here, ... and allows you to "carry" your Bratabase profile to other sites so they can know about your bras, profile and whatever you decide to share with them.
Please spread the word, as this makes the data you add to be useful and consumed not only by this website, but as a resource other people can build up on.
Skim over the post to see how your information is kept private and under your control at all times.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I am selling some of my bras which are all in pretty great condition (most were only worn once or twice). They range in sizes from 28F to 32DD.
Note that the Cleo Jude in 28FF and 30F are tentatively reserved, I will only sell them if the current buyer changes her mind.

I wondered why I had two unread messages at Bratabase but hadn't received any email notification. I checked the spambox and there I found tons of Bratabase messages!
I've already previously had BB mails thrown in the spam, and I'd marked them all as "not spam", but for some reason Gmail doesn't seem to believe that I'm actually serious about that. ... Does anyone else have the same problem? Is there some way to get Gmail to understand that THEY ARE NOT SPAM or do I just have to constantly check the spambox and click on "not spam" until it some day in the distant future actually gets the drill?

has this happened recently?
I did change the way we send email actually to prevent it from being spotted as spam as the old method was already flagged by many places :S
My best recommendation is to add reply@bratabase.com and contact@bratabase.com as contacts in your address book so they don't get sent to junk again :-/
I will look into this again, thanks for letting me know I was blind to this problem.
Yes, they were within the last three (?) weeks or so, actually. But thanks for the tip, I'll add those to my address book! Hopefully I won't miss out on (m)any Bratabase notifications from now on :)

Would love to get one but can't find them in my price range.
I wish there was one out there for me!

Check ebay :)
Do you need a Deco specifically? There are a lot of other options out there that are very similar and a lot less expensive.

Just did a small update on the bloggers page. Cleaned up the layout a little bit and added an option to filter the bloggers by bra size/country so you can discover more blogs.
There is also an option to get HTML code so you can paste the blogroll on your blog in case you ever wanted one.

Awesome!
At first it was great to have Bratabase pay for exchanges and give aways. But this summer I bought SO many bras and as of now I only have TWO that fit, so I have a lot of bras to get rid of and have been exchanging like crazy. Shipping from the US is crazy expensive. I actually left some ... bras there because I thought it would be cheaper for my mom to ship them. Not so! She shipped a CK bikini from IL to MA and it cost $8 in a regular envelope! I can send a bra for $3-4 from Korea abroad. I've sent to Austria, Canada, the UK, and the US and it's all about the same. I just sent 3 EM bras to the US and it only cost $6. Granted, it takes longer, but since shipping from Korea isn't that much I'm just going to suck it up and pay. I sent 4 envelopes today, cost $15 which is about what it would cost to buy half a watermelon here. Since I don't buy watermelon (because they're crazy expensive!), I figure I'll just pay for exchanges and giveaways myself.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Jj is an awesome dude who really is giving. If it was becoming too much for him, he would do the same as he had with shipping on bought bras and have a set limit and once that limit was reached, he said no more.
Yes, Jj is amazing, but I've already requested money for 4 exchanges this week and just sent 2 more today, so I think I'm just going to not ask for money now.

I´ve been selling here my Panache Andorra full cup 30F bra for what feels like forever... And just wanted to make a quick announcement that I´ve reduced the price to 15e. It is caribbean blue. I hope someone buys it

Maybe you could see if you could swap it?
^Well, I´d rather sell it, but but...
Would you be willing to swap it? I checked your active listings, and I might be interested in your Lepel Fiore 30F :)
What is it with my forgetting to measure a bra after it is clean and before it gets used?
Same thing with pictures. Oops.
That's the only reason I have missing parts on my bratabase bras - brain farts.
Or BRAin farts. Er. BRAtabase farts?

I am also guilty of being scatter BRAined :p
I make it part of my routine before I cut off the tag. Does this fit? Does this really really fit? Are the measurements in line with the other bras I've entered in Bratabase?
I'm so utterly confused.
I know some have changed their usernames here.
This one's not a biggie - just confusing for me. And I don't know whether they care that I know or if they do/do not want that info out there in the general bratabase public. Or maybe I'm hallucinating it and there are more than one of certain boobs ... out there? That seems more logical, actually. Just like somewhere out there, there's our doppelganger? Maybe it's the same with boobs?? lol.
I suspect some have added another account.
Sure, it's not confirmed, but it's really hard to hide one's grammar/syntax trends, especially from someone who does a lot of editing or reading. I don't care that they added another account; I'm sure most of them had their reasons. I am only concerned that it is *possible* it is for a reason that is bad, deceptive, or otherwise shady. That does not make me happy.
And I don't have the little blue checkmark on my name yet. Then again, I haven't asked about it yet, so that one's probably on me. (Oops!)

Some people may have changed their name due to the recent highlighting of security, which recommended that we have a unique name here that we don't use anywhere else. I changed my name for that reason, so I would imagine others have also.
How do we get the verified blue check mark, anyway?
Meh, my name here, I actually use on most bra sites. Which isn't that revealing of me, and doesn't pose major employment risks. Plus, in my area of work, being odd is not odd and I've seen coworkers who are far more revealing.

Hey guys, I've been told that many of you are having issues uploading pictures and running into a 404 screen.
If you've had this problem please let me know, all the input I can get about this is useful to address the situation.
Also feel free to email me the pictures if you want to, I'd be happy to help with that too while things are not fixed.

I've had the problem in the recent past, sporadically. I actually thought it was my connection.
Basic info about my Bratabase habits. I use Google Chrome (the most recent stable version, it's set to auto-update). I don't bother to resize images before uploading them, so they're kind of largish.
I've found I've been more likely to run into the 404 error when I upload large amounts of images in one go. If I only put up 3 or 4, it seems to be more stable. I've always been able to upload images after a few goes though.
I'm not sure if there's any other info you'd like for trouble-shooting.
Same as Ereshiy; small amounts of pics seems to work, but but if I try to upload more pics at once then tumbnails will be generated forever.
I have a lot of problems with uploading and I think it's just as frequent it doesn't work as it does. I thought it was more of a server problem of some sort so I didn't report it :)

Could someone give me a link to a list of rules about buying and selling please? (I have seen and accepted the 'Buyer's agreement', but am struggling to find a 'seller's agreement'?)
- Is it first come, first serve when people inbox a seller about a bra?
- How long does somebody have after you have said 'yes, you can buy ... the bra' to then confirm that they want it and subsequently pay before you as the seller should contact the next person on the list?
Thank you - I'm sure i have just missed a very obvious link somewhere!

I imagine that the seller can choose to sell to whomever they'd like, be it the first person to message or the thirtieth, though it would be in good form to allow the first to message to have the first chance. Though I don't know about anything else, or think there is currently a seller's agreement. There is the "considerations for listing a bra" page (http://www.bratabase.com/help/listing-a-bra/) where it says things like respond in a timely manner and to please ship within a couple days of receiving payment, but no actual agreement I'm aware of.
After 5 or 6 users warning me about the user Lazer123, I finally proceeded to block that account last night.
I am sorry that I had to wait for last night's entry to happen, but prior that I did not have any hard evidence to just block that person from the site. Just because the pictures looked like a man? I ... never had enough information that this user had bad intentions, or that his reasons for a bra were not authentic. The only strange issue had been his inability to communicate properly
This has not been the first time a man has joined the site, and as far as I know this was the 2nd user that looks like a man and has added pictures, measurements and bras to the site. I tried to make my personal feelings not be part of the decision over their accounts (It made me uneasy too).
We can never know if a person signing up was born with the desired genetics or identifies themselves as an authentic bra wearer, or even less what their intentions are regardless of their "sex" (whatever that entails). But privacy has always been a priority when making the entire site, so you are always safe and you should have no harm from using the site.
That said, it is a goal of Bratabase to share bra information to the Internet, and eyes will land on the site's content, which is what we want, but we cannot control the intentions behind those eyes, but again, you should be safe by someone that lands on the site.
We just published a pair of documents on the site, they are linked on the footer, the Rules that we expect users to follow in order to have a peaceful bra discussion and privacy information so you are clear on what your privacy situation is on the site.
I have also implemented an option to flag entries, so you can easily bring them to our attention. We will act depending on each case. Please make sure to read the FAQ section on the Privacy page about perverts and why we don't just take action.

Ah, I also made it a rule that you have to be able to communicate to participate, does not matter your bra needs, if you can only babble misspelled words, then you're breaking the rules.
I thought that was you..... I don't know anything about what happened last night so forgive anything I'm about to confess. I thought Lazer123 was you Jj. I thought you were trying on bras and posing for pictures being taken by your wife to be funny for the fitting help pictures. To make us women laugh. Cause I know that's what I was doing when I saw those pictures. I of course was trying to be nice just in case it was a woman. But I was thinking you were the only man who has anything to do with this website. It's not like there's any porn on here or anything obscene. I seriously thought that was you. I was thinking you had a great sense of humor. LOL. Sorry for anyone who got hurt by any man on here. I had to get that off my chest. I have a great sense of humor. :D

I've noticed an increase in the amount of male activity here, has anyone else noticed the same thing. I understand that we are quite weary of perverts, because we're trying to protect ourselves, but what are your ideas about men wearing bras? Some men experience nipple chafe or have other personal reasons for choosing to wear a bra. I don't ... want to discriminate against anyone's gender or sexual identity, or judge them for personal choices. How do we help men honestly asking for help, and discourage those who just see this site as free porn? Are men welcome? What are your thoughts?

If they're actually here for something productive, I don't care. I assume that would most often be limited to transgenders and, possibly, drag queens. I would think they would find more useful info from other trans/queens, because of the unique problems of fitting bras on what originally developed as a male torso. Bratabase would still be useful for data, though, at least for commercial bras.
You can usually tell who's male and who's here for a positive purpose. I'm not going to get into detail, but people are pretty transparent online, especially when they're trying to hide their true selves. I think every male (admitted and not) I've seen here has not passed the smell test... there was one possible "okay" one, but I have not seen him in a while.
Don't get me wrong - I have no problem with people wanting to keep a "secret" profile here, whether male or female. I have a username here that I don't use anywhere else. That's mostly to prevent my psycho ex-boyfriend from googling me. Beyond the name, I'm pretty much me here. I think most of you can tell that, just by what you read of me. I don't think I'll ever intentionally pair up my real life with my Bratabase life, but I'm not hiding the person that I am, if that makes any sense? You can kind of tell the people that are trying to disguise themselves beyond the "real-life identity" part.
Forgot one thing....
I figure, there will be boys who come here to ogle boobs in bras. Whatever. They're gonna do it anyway.
The ones who don't wear bras themselves and create actual accounts here are the ones that want to know MORE about the individual girls in the pictures. That's the creepy part.
Dude... do your anonymous ogling. We can't stop that. But if you're trying to put real women behind those boobie shots by making an account and stalking us and our posts and pictures, just don't. Go somewhere else and find people that WANT that from you. I'm sure there are tons of websites where you can ogle women and stalk them and they'll like it. Go on. Go.

Now, I imagine that most of us agree that Bratabase is a useful resource, or we wouldn't spend our time entering information and promoting the site. That said, I do think this recent thread on /r/abrathatfits has some valid points about ways in which the site could be improved.
I was wondering if we could have a conversation about the ... changes that both Bratabase users and those who don't use Bratabase regularly might want. If we exclude regular users, people who contribute the most are alienated. But if we ignore people who don't contribute now, we risk having a closed group.
My primary thought is that data entry needs to be easier. It is exceptionally tedious to enter measurements in a form, one by one. I'd like to be able to upload data in bulk, for instance in a spreadsheet. I'd also like a way to get my data back out of the system for my own personal use. That might mean being able to export it into the same format I upload it as, but it could also mean an API. People want to be able to add additional information, like lists of bras that work for different shapes and the like, and I don't think it can all be done within Bratabase with the resources available (basically, Jj). Being able to embed bra information in a blog post is a great start, but it's only one way of interacting with the data. I think it would be reasonable to make API access restricted to people who have registered with the intent to use it in specific approved ways, to reduce the creeper aspect.
As I've learned more about bra fitting, I've started to see the limitations to describing how the bra fits you. For instance, a bra can wrinkle at the bottom because a person is full on the top and can't fill the bottom, but also because of orange-in-the-glass and because of insufficient projection in the bottom of the cup. The fit doesn't distinguish between these reasons, which makes the information less useful to someone who might be similar to me in one aspect but not another. I also find the data entry on this page exceptionally annoying because I have to move all over the page to click on various parts, and they are all mandatory. Some things are just never a problem for me, and I'd like to automatically fill them in as such. Again, a spreadsheet would help with this.
I've also mentioned that the measurement rejections are really annoying and discouraging. If anything else is done to clean up the data, the impact on users should probably be considered at least as important as the data cleanliness. I really didn't feel like measuring for a while after getting those messages, and I'm sure others felt equally discouraged. What made it especially annoying was that I had considered this issue and had already decided how to measure to avoid the problem - but I still got those letters. Lots of them. Anyhow, this led to me not entering bras that I tried and sent back for a few months, which I think is a bad outcome.
Those are just my initial thoughts. I don't feel like I'm using Bratabase to its full potential right now. I enter data in the hopes that it will be useful, but to be honest I rarely compare bras. I read the reviews to find out if something runs big/small and I talk with others via adventures, and that's about it.
I'm aware that anything that is discussed means work, and since I'm not offering to do any work it may be arrogant for me to bring up this topic. On the other hand, I'm hoping that this will help the people who do work to get a broader picture of how the community views the site.

Sorry... because I'm not familiar with the term, what on earth is an API? (When you tell me, I'll probably realise I knew it all along)
I think the thing about Bratabase is that by it's nature, it is very data intensive as compared to say Balkonetka which is more of a discussion board with basic bra information. I love entering data on bras, but I'm a very task oriented, data focussed person with a love of numbers. (Or yes, a bit weird). That is the purpose of the site, to have the data to perform detailed comparisons.
It's been a real saviour for me as I've had to recently venture out into brands and such which I hadn't looked at in the past being firmly well and truly a 28 or sub 28 band, so having the ability to compare bras has been invaluable when searching for other things to try.
However, I do think that some of the information explaining the site could be outlined in a way which is easier to understand for people. I know that I didn't find the 'how to measure' visual tutorials until months after I'd been entering bras. :P I don't think that it's ever going to be a truly intuitive site, but perhaps it could be a little more tutorialised. I know that some people haven't even known that there's guidance on how to measure yourself and the bras when you go to enter the fields because they've just seen all the fields there and freaked out.
There was also something someone said about searching cup sizes being case sensitive. I'd imagine that would be an easy fix???
An API is a programmable interface to the system, which allows other people to interact with the internals of the system in a way other than the web interface which is provided, but within the constraints provided by the interface. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_programming_interface

I'm super happy that I stumbled upon this website! It is an amazing idea and has already helped me to determine what size I am in a brand that I'd never worn before.
I also love the thought of being able to help other girls/women. That maybe someone will find the info that I've added useful and help them ... to find bras that fit them well. Possibly even save someone from buying something that won't fit correctly, that would be cool.
That is why I joined Bratabase, and why I am currently adding as many bas as I can get my hands on.

Is there a way to add measurements post alterations to a bra you own without deleting the first measurements? I had the band altered and would like to document the new size for my own future referencing but I also don't want to lose the old measurements for other people to research.

You could add it as a separate bra for now.
Wow, that's great, Jj! That's very generous of you. Thanks!
And, hey--thanks for starting, maintaining, and improving Bratabase, not to mention subsidizing shipping, moderating discussions, and the million other things it must take to keep this site going!
