A note: my tag on this one says AU11 although it *is* the Thea bra.

Thea is Bravissimo's non padded plunge bra, and I will say it does seem to suit a FOB shape as any upper fullness (if soft) will get cut in severely. It looks great tho, gives a slightly minimised look, and there's really not that much lift so it's more a natural shape.

The coverage is very plungey--meaning there's really not much of it which is fine. I wanted a plunge. However the cups are too small on my larger side and the lace is cutting in some. Like I said, if your tissue is soft ... and you have any upper fullness, this will happen. The lace has some give, so I think it would play really really well with firmer tissue.

The band is typical Bravissimo--a 28 is more of a slightly tighter 30. Bravissimo is often praised for being one of the rare manufacturers that does almost all their bras up to a 28KK or something, but to me that is deceptive... all Bravissimo bras I tried ran loose in the band. So a 28H is a very comfortably snug band on me. I think I gained some cm in the underbust too so that is very telling.

Wires are slightly on the wider side, but no problem for me. If I went up a cup size though, I think it would be too wide wires. I also think it would be much too large on my smaller side, as is obvious from the photos, it's already gaping slightly (that is not in cup quadding, but in fact the lace is completely loose on my smaller side).

I had this bra a long long time ago in a very wrong size but I liked it back then, which is why I set out on a mission to find it again. The bra is still very pretty and a non padded plunge that is actually a plunge with low gore is quite a find imho. I even like the shape it gives, but unfortunately, atm it doesn't seem to fit on my larger side which is a big issue for me right now--my asymmetry seems to have...increased? Can I use that word? The difference between the smaller and larger side seems to be bigger now whereas it was just a cup or two before, and it's greatly affecting the fit of any bra I try on these days.

I was going to say I saw in cup quadding. Boy photos can be deceptive sometimes! Sorry hormone flux is increasing your asymmetry issue. :-/ Do you feel that is due to going off the pill?

    • 2

I honestly don't know, I think it might take a while for my hormones to balance themselves out, couple of months at least.
But if the larger side really continues growing I'm going to get an ultrasound just to make sure nothing funky is going on...

    • 1

I hope it all balances out soon. Big hugs. 💙

Ahhh, I just received this bra from a fellow Bratabase member and I'm pretty much in love. It's just right.

The only real problem I'm having so far is that the gore is poking into my sternum a bit, possibly because it's too low. I haven't tried bending the wires yet, but I imagine that'll fix the problem.

As for everything else- I'm getting great support, the straps adjust as much as I need, the band is a true 28, the cups fit almost perfectly (quadding a tiny bit when I breathe in deeply, but not enough to notice under a shirt. And the point where the cups are the ... deepest is actually the point at which my boobs are the deepest, which is rare!) The embroidery at the tops of the cups is elegant and discreet and super soft- not scratchy like on some bras. I would almost qualify this as a T-shirt bra.

I'm very happy to have found a deep plunge bra that is so supportive and also unpadded- the only other plunge I've had that worked this well was the PL Lilia, which I got recently, but it has molded cups. I'm a bit more comfortable without the padding.

Update as of 2/12/2013: I'm loving this bra; it's becoming one of my favourites. The gore still pokes a bit, but I think it's only because I slouch too often. It looks FANTASTIC under shirts, and I can wear all the low-cut tops that most bras peek out of (which is most of my tops...) The shape is great, too!

    • God, I want this bra so badly!
Your review just proves to me that I'm really missing out.

    • Aww! I think the cut is similar to some of their other bras, like the Lucine. I think the Lucine is still in stock?

I think this would work well for someone who likes the Cleo Lucy. It's definitely a FoB bra.
I also want to note that the wire is about an inch shorter than the wire channel so the cup does a weird fold at the outer end of the wire as seen in my pictures - doesn't seem to effect the fit/comfort on me though.
As for how it fits on me, the wires are too wide for me. There isn't enough projection at the gore so the wires float, the gore is too wide too. The cups cut in at the top and overall seems to be pretty minimising/flattens me out a lot so I think it may be a bit too small for me overall. The band feels like its going to get loose pretty quick too https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />.

    Lemon Yellow in colour
Typically wear 28HH; shape = full-on-bottom and top, round, close-set

Appearance: Pretty, soft lace with lovely pattern and the colour is stunning
Gore and Band: Love the low gore and lovely firm, wide band which makes it very comfortable
Wires: Wide wires and straps as per usual in these sizes
Cups: Far too small with quadboobing on both sides, predominantly the left which is my larger side (barely any nipple coverage!) which is bizarre as this is one cup up from my Cleo size and measuring size. Such a shame as I get good uplift from the cup on the right side, which is less affected by the small ... cup size.

Ultimately disappointed as the bra does not go in a higher cup as J is the highest. Unlike a lot of bras I try, there’s no gaping below the cup. It also looks like Bravissimo are discontinuing it at the moment, can only hope they bring it back with proper sizing. Otherwise, it would make a great everyday plunge bra and is so comfortable gore-wise for my close set breasts.

Result: I hope Bravissimo bring this bra back with larger cup sizes and lots of colours - as they do in the Alana - including this summery lemon yellow.

This bra is perfect for me - except I get quadboob in it. The cups seem to come up about a cup size small. As far as I can tell in my too small cups, they seem to give a natural rounded shape.
The band feels nice and tight, having three hooks and eyes really makes a difference in comfort. The width of the wires encloses me better than Panache/Cleo wires do and doesn't leave space at sides I can't fill out. I love that the wires don't come up too high, no poking or digging in!
I like its appearance: The design is very simple but the embroidery and ... the sheerness keep it from being boring. I even like the pale lemon yellow on me. Yes, it makes me look pale but more in a Snowwhite way. The only thing that I dislike is the small purple bow in the middle but that could be easily removed.
Overall, I wish Bravissimo didn't discontinue this bra. I think it is awesome and many people would like it. Sadly, this bra is no longer available in a 30J, so I can't sistersize and just alter the band down.
I hope it will pop up somewhere in the internet, I would love to have a nice unpadded plunge.

This bra is the eleventh bra down in the linked post!

Bravissimo sold the Thea plunge bra online in yellow, but it was also available in black and white in stores in the winter of 2012.

To update the review a bit, I really like this as a non-padded plunge. It gives a good shape on me, but shows a bit too much cleavage for my liking. If I lengthen the straps, it reduces the cleavage but then the shape isn't quite as nice. I think it would be ideal for someone who likes cleavage, or with less upper fullness than I have.

A comfortable bra with a (somehow) really soft and unintrusive band, however the band seems really stretchy. Feels like it's barely there however the cups are way too big for me as well as the band. I assume it should work for regular 30Es but perhaps not exactly for those with shallow breasts.
