    Didn't fit

This bra gives an interesting "no bra" look that I didn't like at first, but have learned to appreciate. I live in a place with 300+ days of sunshine and having my breasts pushed up to high heavens is not always comfortable. This bra feels like I'm going braless without the painful uncontrolled boob movement.

One little thing that I find weird about the fit, the ribbon at the top of the cup tends to cut in a bit depending on how I'm standing. My more-even-than-FOB shape doesn't really agree with this so much. It gives me a bit of a conical shape.

I used to hate unlined bras, but Curvy Kate manages to make some that are comfortable and flattering, with much-appreciated wide wires.

The wires are so wide! I had to alter it a bit because the fabrci in the armpit area was rubbing against my inner arm and armpit soooo badly. I tried to move the straps over a little, too, because they were really wide, as well. Even after these alterations, it still is really uncomfortable. I've come to the conclusion that Curvy Kate bras are too wide in the wires for me to wear. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

I returned this in a 32JJ - the wires were way too wide for me, too, and the shape just didnt work at all. I finally read one positive review of wide-wired bras - they can minimize you so your shirts fit better, by smooshing your boobs around the to side? Mmm, no, its not working that way for me lol

However i just ordered a Lola on sale - hoping it'll do better for me lol

    • Yeah the minimizing effect only works if your breast roots are wide enough that part of your breast tissue can somehow settle that far out to the side. This is not the case for me. Massively wide wires only leads to empty space on the sides and spilling way the F out in front!

    • 1

I need wide wires to enclose the entirety of my breast tissue, which, btw, has been moving more towards the front of my torso but at the same time because of where the root starts I have to move boob to put my arms flat against my sides. I got rid of a lot of my button down shirts during my recent closet clean out because the two buttons where my boobs are refuse to stay closed. They button, but if I breathe, they don't stay that way.

Now that I have learned how to get a good fit in Curvy Kate, she is my new best friend! I have the Gia in 36J, and I know that to be my Curvy Kate size now. I bought this one when I was trying to figure out what size I was ( no options "on the ground"). This sister size works, although the band is a bit too loose. I have two more of these on the way in 36J, but this one in 38HH is wearable until I stretch it out. I am wearing this sister size on the tightest hook, so it won't last as ... long as my correct size. This bra is really pretty, with the ribbon detail on the front, and comes in beautiful candy colors. The two I have coming are watermelon and lime! A great fit and great colors. One of the things I love about Curvy Kate is that the styles and colors are the kind of bras I longed for in my 20s (38 now) but could never find in my size. I spent years in ill fitting ugly bras because I thought they were my only option. Thanks CK!

Sadly, this didn't fit me. I'm reviewing the lime version and it's supposedly narrower than previous Portias. I believe that to be true so if Portia almost fit you or could've fit if it was just a bit narrower, try it again in the newer colours https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> For me, a narrower fit is still not narrow enough. Had this been a padded bra, I would've probably kept it. My breast tissue is quite firm so when underwires are just a tad too wide, it doesn't matter. My boobs don't shift around as long as the cup fits well otherwise and the band ... does so too. When it's nonpadded, you're relying entirely upon the seams and them aligning well with your particular breasts, this does not align well enough to create a round flattering shape. It was a little sad shape ("saggy", although my boobs are far from saggy) and that's because of the underwires being too wide (consequently, the fabric connecting the strap is too far out to properly lift the breast to create that round shape, pulling from the wrong place/angle). The band was too big but it was a thousand times more comfortable than say the Freya Antoinette in terms of the band (more even band tension, the Antoinette may just be the worst case of uneven band tension I've ever come across!). If the cups would be perfect for me, I'd need this in a 28FF and I'm generally in-between band sizes (28 and 30) so if you are too, I definitely recommend sizing down rather than up. Too bad it didn't fit me... The colours are stunning and I *really* wanted a light bra for summer. Oh well, sweating in bulky molded bras it is....

The underwires and cups were finally wide enough, and although it worked in general for shallow breasts, the upper cup was still not filled out completely.

I think I've decided that Curvy Kate bras just don't work for me, and this bra is no exception. It's absolutely beautiful, but everything about it is all wrong for my breasts/body shape. The straps are too wide-set for me, and I started having horrible back pain after only fifteen minutes of wearing the bra. I have broad shoulders too (though they are sloping), so this was somewhat surprising. The cups fit well, though they do not provide much lift for my breasts, and I'm not crazy about the shape. It might be a good bra for others, but it definitely doesn't work for me.

  8. The measurements of this bra were taken after I bent the wires to better fit my ribcage (http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2012/01/what-to-do-with-those-pesky-wide.html) and to ameliorate the phenomenon seen here (http://www.venusianglow.com/2011/02/why-do-g-bra-cups-push-breasts-apart.html).

This fits...fine. I like the tight band because it allows for stretching! The gore is high, to which my sternum is unaccustomed, but this is very flattering to my bottom-heavy breasts. I feel very secure and supported in this bra.

    My two issues:
    * The wires stretch if I put the band on the middle hook. Not cool! They then grind against my ribs and are very uncomfortable. Bending them like the tutorial on Bras I Hate helped, but I have to repeat this occasionally.
    * The fabric is a little itchy, but two rinses with diluted vinegar helped. Also, for future note, do not use Eucalan to wash bras if you have prissy princess boob skin like I do. It's fine for my knitted objects, but not my bras.

    Fits

Comes up a little small in the cup, the band is fairly true to size with quite a lot of give over time. The fit is nice and natural, though has a slight tendency towards 'pointy boob' - this isn't a big issue for me because of my body shape but on bigger busts it may be worth considering.

The central gore begins to dig in a little bit after a full day's wear, but I've yet to find many bras that don't give me some discomfort here at some point. It was minimal, and overall the fit was very good.

Fabric is comfy and the design is pretty for day without being too OTT. It has quite a textured finish though, so not great under fitted tops.

the side support is great and the cup depth seems to be right but the top of the cup is wayyy too big. otherwise it’s a supportive bra that comes in some fun colours and has comfy fabric
