I love this bra. The cups are just a touch too big for me at the top but it's not noticeable at all under clothes. The underwire can be uncomfortable on the sternum, but it's nothing that can't be fixed with a little improvisation. No discomfort on the straps or band, and holy cow this bra is incredibly cute.
OK, here's the deal. I have a way too small (but much adored) Curvy Kate Tempt Me, so while they were still available, I decided to get a couple of the bras based on that style. The Elegance and Wild are both one of those where all they changed was the color and the lace and called it a new name.
Anyway, here's the deets:
Pros: Same fit as the Tempt Me Pushup for those of us who aren't B cups (and I need it cuz my boobs HATE each other)! Comfortable* Has 3 Hooks (in GG+) Minimal embellishment** Low center gore for us petite and prominent sternum types (I'm both).
Cons: * Earlier I said it was ...comfortable, and this is true...to an extent. If you are of the narrow shoulder, narrow chest variety (if I measure from armpit to armpit across my chest I'm just a smidge under 12" wide--that's 30cm for you metric gals) you will HATE this bra. The straps will start under your armpit and will try to twist out of it--it's hard to describe, but you'll know it if you have it. Other than that, the bra is comfortable.
** I also said it had minimal embellishment. This is also true, BUT the lace is a thicker lace, and it WILL show under tighter or lightweight shirts because the little loopies will bend or whatever. However, it is easy enough to remove if it's the only thing holding you back from loving this bra.
The two cons mentioned above are why I'm not keeping it. I also have a bit of that "orange in a glass" effect that I didn't really understand until now, but I could (and would!) have ignored it if it weren't for the straps being set impossibly wide. Read more 178 more words
This is the first bra that I have bought in the correct size. The back is lovely and firm on the loosest hook and the cups fit perfectly. When I first tried the bra on the centre gore dug in slightly but with a bit of breaking in it feels fine. The shape the bra gives is very natural looking maybe a little bit pointy but not enough for me to send it back. The straps aren't fully adjustable which isn't a problem for me but could be for some. This is my first Curvy Kate and I'm definitely going to buy some more!
OMG, major major poking in the sternum. It's got nothing to do with the height of the gore - it seems to be the angle of the wires, somehow. The wires even seem a bit tight on the sides under my arms (though they stop short of poking there). This is a problem that other members of Bratabase have mentioned, though none of the 3 or 4 blog reviews on this bra have mentioned it.
Cups do have very little volume in the bottom, which gave my breasts a bit of a lift, though hardly 'Marie Antoinette' cleavage - probably because I don't have much to begin with. Also slight gaping in the top of the cups, even on the larger breast.
I like the colour (cherry blush), the lace detailing and the lowercut balconette/halfcup style (i.e, unlike many Panache and Cleo bras that have wrinkling along the lace-fabric seam).
Perhaps this Curvy Kates just do not work for us less busty ladies? Another Bratabase member, Avi_, mentioned here: http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dhppt/ that a lot of women in sizes 28D/28DD/28E have problems with this bra, and in her review of this bra in a 28D, she also mentions poking in the sternum and under her arms. Jillie, on the other hand, said in her review of this bra that she'd gone DOWN a cup size (28E to 28DD), and all the gaping and poking problems went away!
I decided to return this bra for a number of reasons, not least of which was the POKING!, but also the fact that the rest of the bra was just ... meh. I mean, nice colour and lace detailing, but no cleavage, lace might show through my shirts and tops, poking!, very slight gaping in the top of the cups - all these little niggles, taken on their own, would be manageable, but all together added up to a bra I felt wasn't worth keeping.
[Ordered a cup size down (28DD) - no poking in sternum though wires do still dig somewhat on the sides, better cleavage, no gaping in the cups. Am returning this, though - I cannot justify keeping this on the basis of "I like how it looks", when I don't like how it feels. Granted, it is very likely that the fit will improve (get more comfortable) after a few wears, but lace shows slightly under clothing and I just think I'll be better off getting bras for everyday wear..] Read more 346 more words
I'm looking for 'Marie Antoinette' cleavage. Any suggestions for a bra?
Nooo, sorry! Had no luck with CK Tease Me in either 28DD or 28E, and none of the other bras I've tried come anywhere close for cleavage, even the ones that fit.
I LOVE THIS BRA! It's so pretty! And Curvy Kate fixed the fit on their newer Wild/Tempt me bras to fit slightly better than their old ones. Note: Slightly. It's slightly truer to size. As a 28E, I find the 28F is a nice fit as far as width and depth. The older tempt me's I needed 28FF for the best fit.
The band on this bra is looser than the Tempt me because the dye is red not black. At a 31 inch stretch, a small 32 would be ok in this or a 30. Definitely too big for my 24 inch ribcage!
The ...vertical seam on the bra is very prominent, and shows under thick shirts, but I don't think it's too bad. The lace will not show through a thick shirt. I'd like to mention the lining on the inside of the cups is different from the Tempt me! This fabric is slipperyish, but not in a bad way. The top of the cups also feel open https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" /> I think it would work well for someone who is full on top. Read more 87 more words
I love this bra - a lot. I have little tolerance for quadraboob and lumpy show-through, yet I wear this one anyway. It is fine in the band (I could do with a 32, but the 34 doesn't ride up; I just like 'em tight) but too small in the cup. I should say rather, that the whole bra is true-to-size. I purchased it when I was still coming to terms with letter combos above "D", so it's not the bra's fault it doesn't fit. A G-H shouldn't fit in an FF. So, to review. It is gorgeous. I have the black ...w/lemon trim. It isn't practical under many fabrics due to the decorative treatments, although it is less impractical than the Thrill Me. The shape is lovely. It is unbelievably comfortable. In spite of the rampant ribbons & lace, the pretty darn wide wires and the very wide-set straps, it never cuts, digs, irritates or otherwise annoys me. (The Thrill Me, for instance, is a similar style, but the satin edge at the bottom of the band on that one folds under and cuts into my fluffiness after several hours' wear.) I literally sleep in this one with zero discomfort, and it holds it's shape regardless of the hours I log in it. The band has 3 hooks in a row, the cup lining is very smooth. The straps are fully adjustable. Support and lift are very good. I want 32GG's in every color, and I might sacrifice a toe for the emerald one. Read more 153 more words
Fits well in the strap, given that it breaks in with wear. I can't fill the cup, especially on the top. There's noticeable tissue squishing in the armpit area, due to short underwires and a tight strap. Curvy Kate
It's got really comfortable cups, but only if they happen to fit. Go up by at least one cup size to get a better fit. The band fits comfortably and is true to size.
This bra is so pretty! Seems to run true to size. The band and straps fit great, but the band seems kinda stretchy. I am between cup sizes, and would need to go up a cup for more coverage. The wires seem to run slightly narrow. The top of this bra is pretty open, so even though the cup was overall too small, it still gapped at the top. I would recommend this to others if they could find the right fit.
This is one of the few bras that I've found with wide enough wires to encompass all of my breast tissue without having either quadboob or not being able to fill up the top of the cup. The band is a little loose, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to go down a size without extreme discomfort. I find the straps to be a little bit too wide for my frame though, and I wonder if this is because of the wider wires. I have yet to wash this bra so I am hoping that the straps soften a little after a wash or two.
Yet another bra that I wish worked for me, but that I bought before really understanding proper fitting. It is comfortable and gives fantastic lift. However, everything else about it is wrong for me - straps too wide, wires too wide, and band too big/cup too small. Part of this is because the showgirl range seems to run small, part of it is just because I bought the wrong size.
I am not going to lie. I'm utterly disappointed with how this this bra is made compared to the 28F I have. You can read that review here: http://bra.pe/RB4w/
It seems like the quality is not as good. The padding is a lot softer, but it wrinkles easier thus there is no way it would support a larger bust if it's flimsy and gross. I am also disappointed with the stitching and the lace. While everything is tucked in nicely and just sewed better overall in the 28F, the 28FF clearly shows that the stitching was made differently. The sides of the ...cups are overly surged in my opinion and I am disappointed that the lace does not look as good. The straps are crazy thick, and the cups don't hold shape very well. I also think the cups are excessively tall compared to the 28F.
The fit on this bra is much better though, but no cleavage.
Update: After wearing this bra for a day, I noticed that the cups really wanted to slide down on me, showing that the bottom of the cups seem to be a bit shallow since my boobs want to push it down, even though I think the bra looks quite large on me in height >=( Ugh.
Another update: After bringing the cups closer together and the straps, I find that the bra provides much better comfort, and I'm reaching for it pretty much every other day in my drawer :3 As long as I don't look at how tragically prettier the 28F is, I am pretty satisfied with this one. Overall, it's a great bra, the only issue is of spillage. This bra was one of the first bras I got since I found my actual measurements and stopped wearing 32D. Even though I measured a 28F I assumed I'd fit a 28E as it was the sister size of the wrong size I'd been wearing for ages. I know I'm an idiot. So yeh, the issue is only because I didn't heed the reviews and size up or atleast get my actual size. The lacey fabric goes upto about an inch or so above the actual cup and my nipples are sitting at the top of the cup. It's too late to return so I'll wear it now and then, and hopefully make up for it by buying the 28F and FF in the current purple one.
Also, a lot of people complain about the center gore poking, it does poke a bit throughout the day but I don't find it all that uncomfortable.
This is the most beautiful balcony bra I've come across.
At first I thought this bra was too big in the cup because it had wrinkles at the top and it was too tight around the band. After wearing it a few times, my breasts filled the cup and the band loosened up.
I got it in black and it looks really pretty. I'm sad that it's too small, but it was my first go at getting the correct sized bra. I would love to have this in the correct size, but I'm not sure I could fill the wrinkles at the top with my full-at-bottom girls.
This bra is wearable, but not a great fit for me. The padded cups sit weirdly against my breasts, like they are too stiff and straight up and down or something. Pretty bra though! Runs loose in the band.
I'm looking for 'Marie Antoinette' cleavage. Any suggestions for a bra?
