Such a fun bra! The faux leather is very comfortable and stretchy. As a plunge, the low gore height was really helpful to me as I always have problems with taller gores laying on my breast tissue. The mesh seems to wrinkle a bit even if you fill it out. I think that has something to do with the seem where it meets to faux leather. It doesn’t bother me but could annoy others.
Oh that's fun!! I with I could wear Curvy Kate, I may have to try this. I see what you mean on the mesh, I think it's just the mix of drastically difference fabrics causing a little pulling, nothing major though.
I love that! What a cool bra, and looks good on you!
I love the look of this bra, really cool. You look great in it!
Well, I think that Curvy Kate is not for me. My shape is projected, evenly full between top and bottom. slightly center full, tallish average width roots with a splayed root shape. My breasts touch at the top, tissue is medium soft and I definitely need side support. This bra doesn't have that, and the cups are either too large or not matched to my shape.
I give CK props for doing plungey plunges, and the plum colorway is sophisticated and sexy. Getting the correct band size is important for this bra as the wires distort easily. The sides are typically low which is not an advantage for me but would be for a lot of people. The gore is low and the wires touch so good for those of us who are close set.
I got this for a pretty low price from Belle Lingerie on ebay. If Curvy Kate is more your speed than mine this one is worth checking out.
This looks too large to me finallygotboobs . I would try a 34FF before giving up
Looks too big to me, too, actually. But i had some really bad CK experiences too - supposedly they have improved some?
dbmamaz they fit so differently across diff size ranges. But yes they used to be wide and shallow, esp. center shallow, and they've tried really hard to fix that.
I don't think sizing down will help you. I think one of its benefits for me and detriments for you is the low sides, which won't be helped by sizing down. Great bra for the high set though!
cupandahalf I could be wrong, but I thought she meant the low sides simply weren't something she needed--I didn't realize she meant the low sides were a problem. From the pictures I don't see any particular fit issues on the sides?
cupandahalfwendybien I have a lot of flesh in the armpit area so I actually prefer taller wings that hold it in. And I agree the cups are too large but due to lack of side support I don't think I'd like it even in a smaller size.
Also the band is a little tight. I can see some wire distortion in the side view pic.
ah ok that makes sense--if you want taller wings then this one is not for you. I think you could get a cosmetically "good" fit in a sister size but it would never be comfortable due to the construction.
I was excited to try this bra because I don't like how many tall gores push into my sternum and I also like a front closure. Sadly the bra was not that great on me. The size is right. The band is true to size, cups are apparently the right volume for 34G. The padding was very thick and horizontal seam was bulky and visible under tops. The bra gave a bit of an elf-shore apperance on my smaller boob because my top tissue is too shallow for the cup. Straps were too seperate for my narrow shoulders and would cut in slightly. The biggest issue though was that ...the gore piece was really hard plastic and would start to dig into my sternum badly during the day. I could not wear the bra anymore. I also noticed wear and tear at the band after only 2-3 wears so it's not the best quality. I gave this bra to my friend and it fits her well, she is around 36F size. I think this bra is best suited for shorter root, full on top shape. Read more 76 more words
Thank you very much for this review, alisa . I had my eye on this bra because of the super low gore and the beautiful color. I suspect I too would resent the hard plastic gore and the bulky horizontal seam. You saved me a lot of trouble.
learningaboutbras happy to hear that my review helped! Don't spend your money on it! The band has already elastic threads coming out after few wears! The plastic gore feels ok at first and does not poke since it's so low but as the day goes on so does the pressure! I could not stand it after a few hours.
My friend who only can put on her bras on the front and has to wiggle them around her body really liked the front closure. It also gave a better shape on her than on me. So I'm happy the bra does not go to waste at least.
How wonderful your friend likes the bra! That makes you happy, too. It makes it a little less sad that it didn't work for you.
Band: wide 3 hook closures. Firm, I'm between sizes so I'd rather size up (34 instead of my usual 32) Cups: bottom doesn't wrinkle but the seam feels funny at the bottom, probably not enough projection but just by a little. Cups don't offer enough center fullness for me so I quad really bad Wires/gore: average-narrow. Looks like CK definitely did start making their bras narrower. Gore is really low, perfect for my close set breasts Appearance: beautiful red color. A light daisy print on the fabric and daisy embroidery on the mesh/lace. Slightly pointed silhouette but nothing crazy.
First putting on this bra it felt tight. A bit more sturdy perhaps than my previous bras. I wore this bra around the house for about an hour and found that the tightness loosened a bit and it felt still firm but I'm unsure if it would be comfortable long-term. Then I came to a new problem - the straps. They are too rough on the edges and left marks on my near my under arm crease where my arm meets my chest.
the problem of straps rubbing your under arm crease is prbably caused by too tiht band. Ellace runs tight. I wear usually 30 but could stand even 5 min in 30 band. Also got one for my mom in 38, where she wears bras in 36-38, its was snug on her
thanks martka00 ! I didn't know it ran tight. I also got a "tropics" curvykate and the band size is totally comfortable in a 34, but the cups fit (miracle!) so I'm willing to go up in band size :D
I found the Ellace cups too tall and wide at the top, along with very wide set straps. I didn't think the band was tight on the Ellace but I guess that depends on the band size. Do you have to angle the straps in a lot? That would suggest they are set too wide and can be causing the marks.
The straps are definitely too wide. But the cups are as close as they’ll ever be.
I hate how Curvy Kate places straps (wide front and back so they never feel secure) and the poor quality of the strap material. The fit of the cup on you looks really good. Ellace is so deep and short and I don't know of any other bra like it. If you sew I can help with strap solutions. Otherwise I'll think about other possibilities for you.
For reference, I consider myself extremely short rooted, projected, narrow, and even fullness (although my roots are so short I'm functionally FOB). My tissue is somewhat soft due to breastfeeding.
I had SUCH high hopes for Ellace! All the reviews sounded like it would be awesome for my shape. Alas, it was not meant to be.
First, the good- - The thick sturdy elastic around the bottom of the band is amazing! It was great for comfort, and the contrasting color was a nice touch too. -Nice rounded shape -Very comfortable in general -I tried this bra in 2 cup sizes, and saw no huge difference (I had to keep ...checking which was which!), so the stretch lace allows some wiggle room for the perfect fit or if your breast size fluctuates
Now, the not so good- -Band was waaaaay too big! This was brand new and I put it straight on the tightest hooks. I would definitely need a 32 in this one. -The stretch lace seems to be much more elastic than the cup mesh. For me, this was a recipe for in-cup quadding on my larger side unless I positioned my boob very carefully. -I'm not sure why they put an extra piece of elastic along the top of the cup. It seems like this might cause issues for ladies that are full on top. -In both sizes I tried on, there was a significant amount of wrinkling in the stretch lace on my smaller side. Putting the band on the tightest hooks helped with this somewhat. -there was very minor wrinkling at the bottom of the cups. I could overlook it if this were the only issue. - The wires were too wide for me. This was not helped when I had to put the band on the tightest hooks, but I also had wrinkling at the top of the band on both sides of the underwire in the underarm area... Just a strange fit. - The cups were a little too tall, which probably contributed to the wrinkling at the top of the cup on my smaller side. It also meant that the wide-set straps were all the way in my armpits, making for a very uncomfortable bra. -the gore tacked, but it kept twisting. Not the worst issue, but annoying.
I think for this bra to work for me, I would need to try a 32 band, but no clue about cup since both the 34G and 34GG seem to fit exactly the same. I'd also need a longer torso. Read more 316 more words
Temptress, you were named well. I couldn't resist this bra so I put it on my credit card ($72 ouch!) with the intent to nail down size and reorder cheaper somewhere else.
Firstly, this looks like a moulded bra but its actually a 3 part cup. The lace obscures the seams. Didn't matter to me, but it's more likely to fit more people since its not actually moulded. Band is firm, gore low, wires seem less narrow than other recent curvy kates. It might be because of the plunge but they seem more true to old CK wire sizing. Cups didn't collapse at the bottom for the ...5 minutes I had it on. No quad but the top edge seems likely to curl outward Material feels like swim suit material on the cups. The band is standard power mesh. The cup edge between the strap and the wire at my arm flares out. It could be that the cup is just too wide, but it feels like the elastic there isn't pulling it in like it should. The band right at that underarm wire tip is also acting funny. It's loose for about 1" after the wire, but the rest of the band is firm.
I bought it completely blinded by its beauty and a good deal I found, the size is completely wrong for me. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
I would say that band is very stretchy. I normally wear 32 or 34 but this feels bigger than 34. But on other Curvy Kate bras I tired (Thrill ME/Tease Me) I found the band very stretchy as well.
Cups are way too big for me, so I can't review them, but I like this model, I guess if I got a right size it would look very good. It's a deep cut plunge with very narrow, low gore and I think ...it should show a lot of cleavage. The cups are pretty shallow, but it seems to be a part of this model.
The look of this bra is stunning, I love such styles. The fabric looks very good, it's satin but not very shiny and it'd in great condition even though it's a used item. It has very beautiful details - the lace is very unique for lingerie, a large pattern made of thick threads and there is an ornamental knot on the gore. Overall, the whole bra looks really pretty.
I really want to get this model in the right size, but their regular price is out of my range. If you have such bra in size 32F or 30FF and you want to sell it or exchange for a different bra, please contact me.
EDIT: Please don't vote this review down just because I tried the wrong size. On bratabase, we are supposed to add reviews of bras that didn't fit us, too. Read more 162 more words
Thanks for voting it down without commenting. That's a great contribution.
You don't happen to still have this do you? I was curious about the height of the center gore in this size.
No, I sold it. But the gore was very low.
BTW I recently bought this bra in 32FF and it's gorgeous! Looks even better than I imagined. It pushes breasts up and to the centre and has a very big plunging cleavage - that's why the gore is somewhat wider than in other bras. It's actually an illusion, because the gore in this bra is extremely low so it doesn't even go in between the breasts. Slightly flatten breasts, as I expected, but the uplift is great and I think it has a little of minimising effect, anyway I think I look much slimmer in this bra. :) I will add review of 32FF later.
What can I say about this bra... it feels very lightweight. The fabric is super thin, the cups have barely any structure. The cups are very low cut on the front and on the sides. I would only recommend this for someone who has very short roots. I have tall roots so I need higher coverage. I also would need a better structured cup. This felt super flimsy and weak. I can't say that the cups cut into my breast tissue because that fabric is so flimsy it can't do that. But my top tissue was not covered and it was almost indecent looking. With wear the cups would slide down. I never had this with a bra before. It did barely anything just fabric coverage for my bottom half of my boobs. It was a shape-mistmatch and slightly too small. I have other bras from CK in 34G that fit, so I'd say this runs small.
I've read the sizing is inconsistent with Curvy Kate; also the side boning is not parallel to the ground, which affects fit as well.
I've tried tried two bras recently and when the side boning was not parallel to the ground, it made the band feel unsupportive.
BraOdyssey Yes I think they are kinda inconsistent. It was even recommended to size up in this bra but I was not sure what my size was at this point so I went with my abtf size 34G. Oh thanks for pointing it out, I wonder if that means the band is also too tight? or just wrong tension? I did not find it too tight when I wore it.
Be aware that the wires on this model are massive. In every photo I have seen, they tend to end far under the model's armpit, and I experienced the same.
I tried this on sort of on a whim at the local bra store. They had a sale but I figured Curvy Kate wouldn't work for me. I've always suspected I'm even/full on top in shape but without a second set of boobs to compare to, I wasn't too sure. Tried this one, and it might be my best fitting bra I've ever put on. There's slight wrinkling at the outer top corner on my smaller breast, but the other side is smooth, no gaps or cutting in. The material could definitely be softer but I think with some wear and a few washes it will be fine. It gives me a nice natural slightly rounded shape, under clothes it just looks very "me" and there's no weird point or flat spots some bras will create. I'm pretty excited about this one.
While this bra isn't a perfect fit, it is worlds better than the 5 year old Bravado Body Silk bras I had been wearing. It has shorter cups and narrower wires than other British bras so it is more accommodating of my short roots and center fullness. The gore doesn't quite tack, but it isn't uncomfortable. There's also a little bit of wrinkling on the bottom of the right cup which is my slightly smaller side. Once I got used to wearing my first underwire in a long time I found it rather comfortable.
Edited to add: it turns out that have mild pectus excavatum so most gores won't tack on me.
I wouldn't recommend this bra for people with projected breasts, but it might work well for shallow ones. Band was super stretchy and it didn't seem to matter which hook I closed it on. Silicone on the band does help it stay up though. Foam cups that are relatively soft, thin, and squishy. It just isn't the right one for me.
Things I like: - Even though its not molded it doesn't show a lot under tight clothes (some stitches still show however) - It is VERY projected
Things I didn't like: - Its tight! If I were it for more than 6 hours i get indents in my skin pretty much in every place the bra sits - It is very painful where it sits on my ribs (between my boob and my arm pit) - Its ugly The bottom fabric folds up under the underwire
This bra is pretty much a clone of the Flirtelle Spiro Plunge, so if you like that, then you'll like this and vice versa. I made the mistake of ordering both because I didn't know Flirtelle was a kind of sister company to Curvy Kate. This review will be pretty similar to the Flirtelle review, because there isn't much between them.
This bra is in a gorgeous polka-dot black mesh fabric with some pretty lace detail at the top. The lace at the top has a bit of texture that may show through some tops. The quality is excellent.
I don't get along with this bra for two reasons: it's too projected ...for me and I should have sister sized up.
Some info about me: I'm even vertical fullness with medium width and medium to not-so-much projection. I find Cleo Marcie to be a perfect cup fit, but it's too narrow for me. I like a low gore due to being close set and I'm a 34G to 36FF depending on band stretchiness.
It fits great along the top of the cup, I think it anticipates a hair more upper and inner fullness than I have, because the lace is not a close fit for me. It's slightly noticeable under clothes, mainly because of the texture of the lace though, it's quite 'chunky'. I have a LOT of wrinkles underneath the boob, which for me usually means that I need a less projection there. If you have more fullness at the wire when supported, you may like this.
The second issue is that I find the band a little tight for me, and therefore the gore slightly painful too. This is probably because I'm in-between a 34G and a 36FF, so it's very true to size.
On a positive note, I found this one had a bit more coverage than the Flirtelle one, it really brings the girls forward too.
I think this bra is best for those who have a lot of inner fullness and need projection at the wire. It's really pretty and I would recommend it to anyone who isn't shaped like I am. However, I would recommend the Flirtelle one before this one if you fit into the size range (I've heard their size range isn't as good as CK's, but can't remember at the time of this review). So far I find this the most comfortable of six bras purchased after a recent Bravissimo fitting most likely due to the three-hook fastening and relatively wide straps. Straps still dig in a little at shoulders and top of armpits where the straps meet the band - I may adjust further. In terms of cup size/shape it is a fairly good fit to my larger breast with only slight gathering at the outer cup and very minimal cut in across the top edge when I swoop and scoop. With the smaller breast there is more noticeable gathering at the top of the cup where it meets the strap. Aesthetically this looks nice and gives a nice rounded shape under a tight t-shirt. May update after I have worn this bra longer.
This is the holy grail of underwire, gore and, band fit for me. I wanted to love this bra so much, but the rest of the fit just doesn't work for me.
Sadly, like other reviewers out there, I did not fill up the top of the bra despite filling out the bottom of the cup nicely. It also seemed like the cups were too tall for my frame, and being slightly higher set. I feel like the straps are too wide for me, though that could be a result of cup fit issues and my hatred of most straps.
The fabric is very soft, but the lace is a bit annoying. The colour ultramarine has a pink contrasting bow on the front that looks a bit cheap, but overall a pretty bra.
This is my first Curvy Kate bra. I was hoping for a great fit after many reviews that Ellace is good for narrow roots. This particular bra's cups, though, are too small for me. I like the way the band fits and like the way the bra looks. The gore is too short for me (very soft tissue). I have in-bra quad where the lace starts and also top edge quad where the lace is too snug (or too short for my breasts). I do like the bra so may try it in one cup larger (if the gore is taller in that cup size).
The pink on the bra is a deep raspberry colour, it's very pretty. The materials are very soft, and despite the shallow shape, the bra doesn't collapse at the bottom of the cup. I really like the very low gore, especially in this size.
This bra was too small and too shallow for me from the beginning, so I've only worn it a few times and it's been sitting in my drawer for a while now. I cut the label out, though, I don't remember exactly but I think it was scratchy. I did keep the bra's bag, so I'm sure about the size. The colour bled a bit on the ribbon on the strap and there is slight coloration on the wing as well.
Oh that's fun!! I with I could wear Curvy Kate, I may have to try this. I see what you mean on the mesh, I think it's just the mix of drastically difference fabrics causing a little pulling, nothing major though.
