The only problem is that super thin fabric does provide a bit of a headlight issue, which limits which shirts I can wear it with. But it Fits!! The Freya Lyla: what a pretty bra! I felt elegant when I first put it on. I have mixed feelings about the Lyla, though, but it's mostly due to my breast shape.

When the Lyla first arrived from Figleaves, I looked at it and was extremely skeptical. I wondered if I had made a huge mistake, because the cups looked taller and deeper than other 30FFs I've tried. I even looked at the label to make sure it was the right size! I also wondered just how supportive it would be, since it's all mesh.

But I was mildly surprised at the fit. I'm not going to sit here and ... say it actually fit me, it just fits me better than I expected. The Lyla is the narrowest bra with the deepest cups that I've tried in a 30FF. When I compare it to other unpadded/unlined cups I've tried, I like this fit better than certain Wacoals and Chantelles that, while they held my boobs in, they didn't do any favors for the shallow shape or bring them front and center. I feel like the Lyla attempts to reign in my wide set boobs and bring them on in to the front. What seems to helps with this is the way the fabric is cut at the sides, but I'm no expert with bra mechanics. It could also be the length of the wire. But that part of the bra seems to cradle the sides and nudge them forward. I'm not sure about the shape it gives my boobs. It actually seems to be a natural shape, not flattened, but the shape doesn't seem to be very lifted. I suspect it is due to my breasts being bottom heavy. While I question whether I LOOK supported in the Lyla, I certainly FEEL supported.

The band is firmer than other Freyas I have in a 30FF -- which is good, because it means I don't have to use the innermost hooks right away. I'm using the middle set of hooks, but before you say that I should try this in a 28, I suspect a 28 in this model would strangle me! In addition, I think if I went up a cup size (because the sides ARE spilling out a bit), I probably wouldn't be able to fill out the top.

Appearance-wise, as I mentioned before, it is very pretty. I was afraid that the mesh would itch, because the fabric felt a little rough when I first touched it, but it seems okay. It may be because I haven't washed it yet. I love the mesh style, and the embroidery is a nice touch. The sides of the bra peek through if I'm wearing something sleeveless with loose armholes, but for some reason, I'm fine with that.

In conclusion: the Lyla is a lovely bra if you are looking for an unpadded bra that isn't full coverage. It may not be the best match for you if you are wide set or have a wide root, or if you are bottom heavy, because the cups are quite narrow and deep.

I don't usually mix well with plunges due to my shape but this hybrid is an alright fit. There is a fabric bubble in the top of the cup where it connects to the strap because I think I'm rather shallow up top. The band fits but i only wear tight tight tight bands, so this is more of a back-up bra..

I have Lyla in two colourways, amethyst and black. Lyla amethyst in 28F was my first choice, my standard cup size with a smaller band as Freya is known for it's loose bands.

Unfortunately, the fit isn't perfect.

The band is ok but could be more stretchy. That's my overall complaint about Freya bands, they are very loose so that I have to size down, but not stretchy enough in my opinion.

The straps are really beautiful, wide and comfortable. They're very long and they don't stretch a lot (just like the band which is partly made of the straps).

My biggest problem concerns the cup fit. The first thing is that ... the cups run very high on my chest, more like a full cup not a plunge bra which it's supposed to be. Another issue is the top of the cups. I have full on the bottom (and empty on the top) boobs, and I can't quite fill the cup at the same time as the edge cuts in the breast tissue particularly near the center gore.

The center gore is hurtful and I don't exactly know why. I suppose it's because I don't have any fat on the sternum and this is my recurrent problem in bras with hard underwires.

Due to the cup fit problem, I've tried Lyla in 28E, but I's definitely too small. Unfortunately it seems that I'm not compatible with this bra and that's why I won't try any Freya bras in this style. That's quite a shame, because the design is just beautiful and Lyla liquorice was very tempting.

I really love the way this bra looks on *other* people, but it's not right for me. I've been puzzled as to what the exact problem is, since the measurements are similar to those on other bras that *do* fit me correctly, and I've come to the conclusion it's just an incompatible shape for my breasts.

My boobs are somewhat evenly full, leaning towards FOT, but relaxed. They need some depth on the bottom to support fullness there, but not too much depth, or my breasts will relax into the bottom of the cup, and kind of hang there like tennis balls in a sock. I wear a bra ... for lift and support, so this is not a good thing. I think the Lyla is too shallow in the bottom of cup for me, so my breasts tissue gets pushed to the middle of the cup, which isn't meant to support so much weight, and so the whole bra shifts downwards. With perfect posture and a swoop-and-scoop, I can get my bras to look ok in this bra for a minute, but before long, I end up with underwires that don't sit at my inframmary fold, tons of wrinkling at the bottom of the cup, and somewhat droopy looking boobs, with wrinkling at the top of the cup also.

I think this bra is better for the perky-breasted and very FOT. If my breasts didn't need so much structure to put the volume where it should be, I doubt I would have gotten the breast-tissue-pushes-everything-down problem.

Other than that, in 28G, I found the bra to be fuller-coverage than I was expecting. The center gore is pretty high for a supposed plunge bra, and the entirety of my breast tissue was covered. When I put a regular ribbed tank on over the bra, I had to consciously adjust the shirt so that the top of the cups wouldn't peek out the neckline. I could wear a high V-neck tee with this bra, but I would not feel comfortable in anything low cut. If it weren't for the label, I would have called this bra full-coverage.

Lastly, the seams on this bra stick out more than those on similarly cut bras I own. Not sure why this is, but it further limits the versatility of this bra for me.

Needless to say, I've sent this bra back, and I've crossed similarly cut Freya's off my "to try" list.

This is a lovely bra but sadly it didn't fit, I could get a pointer finger under the gore (going from top down) and the underwire cut into the sides of my breasts, it also gave me some "muffin" top.

I like the fuschia Eleanor better than the pistachio one. Because I got this one from Figleaves in 2011 and the pistachio one from a swap (where she had owned it for at least 6 months), I suspect this model is slightly different. It's a tighter band, which I like. The cups just seem to fit my breasts more neatly. The center gore works with my sternum more nicely.

I do keep adjusting the straps more than other bras. Perhaps the length needs fiddling, or perhaps putting the band on the second hook places the straps in a better position for my back.

This bra is one I haven't tried on in years. Before kids it was a more tight fit along the top. I also had a major growth spurt followed by breast reduction and 2 more kids, and now it fits again, and actually is a little gappy at the top. Beautiful bra, very light with a strong construction.

I am not full enough on top to fill out the lace on this bra, which is a shame because otherwise the fit is quite good. There are no creases around the bottom and it gives a nice rounded shape. It doesn't seem to have extra space at the sides either, which is nice. This would be a great summer bra as it is so light and airy! The embroidery is quite lovely as well. I'm not sure if sizing down would fix this.
