This bra is sooo beautiful. I have always preferred Freya's aesthetic but sadly there hasn't been a lot of top fullness friendly style. But this bra is close!
This is my first 28G bra. I had been wearing 28FF's but noticed minor quad boobs so decided to size up a cup on this one. My shape is projected, very full on top, full on centre, tall and narrow roots, extremely close-set, soft tissue and self-supporting.
The band initially feels very tight when I first tried it on (after dinner). But I think it runs true to size.
The cups have the top section made with stretch lace (without the annoying elastic ...on the edge) and bottom with mesh. I would say it is pretty top fullness friendly considering I'm not getting any quad boobs. The cups are projected, but not very narrow. So the wires are too wide on both sides, and I'm not filling out the right cup as my right boob is smaller.
I love this color combination and how pretty the lace is.
Overall it's an OK fit for me but I'm worried that I will get picky about it with time (like I did with so many of my other bras, so I have excuses to buy more). But I may very likely keep it because of the appearance. Read more 110 more words
Wow! This bra looks so pretty on you! The colour is stunning!
alisa Thank you! I love the color as well! And surprised the combination works. If this fits better I would definitely get it in the pink cups/ grey dress combination.
I looooove Offbeat in both colors that it comes in, but I haven’t quite figured out the right size for me (yet).
It looks like it fits you pretty well!
pretty_promise Thank you! It is such a pretty bra. I think it's true to size in the band and cups, but folks with less projection and top fullness may choose to size down.
I’ve seen a couple reviews of the Offbeat on here and it always looks very pretty! Convinced me to order one myself :) It looks lovely on you.
I also love this bra. The pink / grey is gorgeous too. I'd like to try it, but I'm a bit scared since Freya bras are hit or miss on me. Are the wires firm and supportive or more flimsy?
alisa From the perspective of a smaller band and medium cup (hence not as much volume), I would say the wires are not filmy at all, maybe average to somewhat firm? I don't think it's super firm, but I do feel slightly more pressure from the wires at the bottom of the cups than I'm used to. That may be better after the band is broken in though. I don't need a loooot of support being my size so I've never encountered wires that aren't firm enough.
Wondering if the straps bother you? I'm pretty new to the Bra-o-sphere/ABTF community, so I'm still investigating proper fit and styles, but the straps look like they're almost coming off of your shoulders? Yes? No?
BraOdyssey Welcome! The straps are fine for me. Maybe I have wider shoulders (?) so I’ve never had straps falling off in my correct size.
Freya's padded half cups have always been a go-to for me. Fearne was on my must-have list since I saw the AW16 previews. I just love the pattern and the bra looks so much nicer in person than in the promo photos. The material is delightfully soft and smooth with quality finishing. I think it's flying under the radar, and that's a shame, because it's beautiful. Unfortunately, the 4-part padded half cup from Freya is a shape mismatch for my narrow, projected, close-set, FoB, short-rooted boobs. I wish it fit. There's a full review on my blog!
Maximum sideboob. Is this what people mean when they say a bra is "east-west"-y?
I tried this Freya in 28G from Amazon Wardrobe & I'm bummed it didn't work because the color (Shark) was lovely, the cup lining was comfy, and the 28 band was really comfortable. Probably the best Freya 28 band I've ever tried.
But the cups are just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too wide.
My boobs were sitting so far out to the sides. There were wrinkles at the top of the cup because there was so much side-room for boob!! Crazy.
The wire was just... in the wrong place everywhere. Not even close to my IMF. My boobs just ...folded up inside this bra. I highlighted the empty space in the photo of my armpit.
Is it too big? I tried 28FF's before this and they were all too small at the cup so I was trying 28G next.
Am I too narrow for this bra? The cups feel just so, so, so wide. I've had this problem with a bunch of "large cup 28's" but I am convinced my boobs aren't that narrow, they don't match the little drawn icon of narrow boobs at all, and I didn't think "boobs across 100% of my front (but not halfway to my back)" counted as narrow.
It's really too bad because everything else about this bra was comfortable - the band felt great (minus the wire), the cups were soft lace and so comfortable, and I loved the color.
About me: Usually UK 28F / Comexim 60HH, but 25 weeks pregnant and +2 cup sizes (for now). Too bad I still need (desperately) need 28's, it would be a lot easier to wear 30s. Read more 175 more words
so, I'm not sure which ones from amazon will work for you? I understand that you prob don't want to invest tons of $ in bras r.n., if your cup size is still changing though.
edit: congrats on the pregnancy! Not sure if I said that before. : )
I wonder if it’s too tight of a band, causing wire distortion and pulling too much on the cups.
It’s been a long time since I tried on Freya balconette styles (in 30F and a few 30FF), but I recall there was significant variability in wire width between styles. And I do remember a few where the wires wrapped around my sides like that.
I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to determine which styles will have narrower wires or if you just have to look at Bratabase measurements for each style.
I think for Freya (could be confusing with another brand though) there is a cup size at which they change the design/shape of the cups for larger sizes, and the wires are wider above that point, but I’m pretty sure that is a larger cup than 28G.
Calluna I wish the band was too tight! Because if I could find a 30 that didn't feel like a saggy bag around my ribcage, I would definitely buy 30s in a heartbeat!! But the band was soooo comfortable. I actually loved the length. :(
I gotcha! Part of the pictures looked like maybe there was a little bit of wire distortion, but I couldn’t tell for sure.
meerkat This particular bra makes the shift at GG, I believe (based on me recently trying on this bra in 30G and 30GG).
callie510 , anya99 has tons of comexims around your new size (60L?) although if you're still getting bigger, hmm.
This would probably be one of the best bras ever, if it fitted me well. That's why I've been wearing it lot even though I really shouldn't wear it at all.
The great thing is that this is a supportive plunge t-shirt bra that gives cleavage. Yes, all of this in one bra. And, made for larger cup sizes. I haven't found a single person that doesn't love this bra.
But, the issue is that it isn't made in larger cup sizes than a GG, and in the 28-band, only up to a G. Even though the cup sizes are large, the band is quite big too, which adds ...to the problem. Most people need to go down a bandsize in this bra, but when you're a 28-band, that is unfortunatly not possible. I would say that a 28G is closer to a 30G sizewise.
For me this is just not good. I get back pains when I where it, even with the closest set of hooks and eyes. After a long day I even get really bad painful red marks, but because of the greatness of this bra I keep wearing it anyway.
After a year of heavy wearing the fabric and the padding is tearing apart in the place where the cups meet the wires up front, but then I've been wearing it a lot.
If you manage to find this bra in a size that fits you (size down a bandsize and keep you cup size) this is something you have to have in your wardrobe.
---------------------------------------------------- Pros: + T-shirt bra + Plunge + Cleavage + Support
Cons: - Large band results in issues if not the correct size - Large cup also means hard to find the correct size - May gape on the top for empty-on-top breast - Plunge model means running in stairs still should be avoided. - Doesn't go higher than GG in most bands and a G in 28-bands. My shape: tall shallow-rooted teardrop with max immediate projection/depth, very wide full side roots shaped like the Nike swoosh, center-height, forward-facing, very close-set, with very firm self-supporting tissue
The Kiyoko is a 3-part half-cup modeled on the Freya Patsy Padded Half Cup Bra (1223) , but it is not anywhere near an exact replica. I was really hoping it would be, because my 28G - Freya » Patsy Padded Half Cup Bra (1223) is my best fitting bra right now, and this one is so pretty with the black and pink abstract floral embroidery that looks so delicate (and I am a complete sucker for ...embroidery). It is a beautiful soft shade of pink with tiny black swiss dots and a sheer embroidered overlay on the cups.
Sadly, it's just not to be. For one, the cups are not the same: shallower at the base, slightly closed on top (?!) probably due to the black edging which is striking and pretty but has very little give, and a bit of extra room over the apex that poofs ever so slightly on my extremely shallow upper root. The top edge cuts me off a teensy bit when it's not buckling from how far apart the straps are out in my armpits. I wonder if this fits more like a Lauren? I haven't yet tried a Lauren clone by Freya, but I love my Fauve half-cups and loads of them are supposed to be based on the Lauren.
The gore is too tall and too wide, though it doesn't bother me when I first swoop and scoop. It chafes and pokes as the bra shifts down, though, which happens pretty quickly because the band is so big. What is up with this band? Stretchy bands are a Freya Thing™, as we all know, but this is ridiculous. In the photos it's on the tightest hook, and I can still pull it away a good 3 or 4 inches.
The wires are ok. There is maybe a whole cm of space in the channel to play with, if you need to push them out or in to avoid digging. They are fairly stiff, I'd say, but not as bad as some other brands. They are too steeply curved for me, a not-really-a-problem I have with literally every bra I've ever tried, except in this case it is a problem because they are almost falling out of my IMF due to the looseness of the band and the push from my immediate projection. I lose the outer cup support and the wire at the wing is then too low, which means tissue tries to escape and it starts to dig, something I rarely ever have to contend with. None of this is the wire's fault, though, and it's all still in the band.
I'd also just like to say that the straps are gorgeous: wider than normal, matching pink spotted stretch satin, and just very prettily finished with picot trim and symmetrical seams. Very comfy, fully adjustable, super soft. If only they weren't so far apart, but no one's surprised by that.
So basically, in my personal opinion, size down at least one and maybe two bands for this model, and too bad for me there aren't any smaller bands. Between the shallowness in the lower cups and the complete lack of support from the band, I was doomed from the start! It's so pretty I hate to return it, but back it goes. Read more 470 more words
Thanks for this in-depth review! I've had this bra in my wish list for a while now but I'll probably pass on it because of how extra stretchy the band seems to be.
I also hoped that this would fit like Patsy or a Fauve half cup. Sadly not the case. 😞
I love this pattern and it looks grand on you! Thanks for the review and photos!
yogurt It's with a super heavy heart that I am packing it up for its return today. I do love how it looks. :(
I've heard in general that's worth trying a bunch of different Freya halfcups, because unlike Cleo Lucy/Kali for example, they tend to have enough differences in the cut that they don't fit exactly the same. I've been keeping an eye out for this bra anywhere in my size, but sounds like it wouldn't be a good fit for me either :(
calenlass, did you measure the stretched band?
I did! You can see all the measurements in the "Measurements" tab at the top of the page. It is 90cm!
My shape: self-supporting teardrop with super wide and tall roots, shallow on top and max projected underneath, with lots of side boob and close-set center tissue that is firm and fights back when squished.
This review is for the pink colorway which I purchased gently used from another user in February.
It's basically like Fauve made a 28 band for everyday wear! This is one of my go-to bras now and I've worn it dozens of times in the last few months. The pink and grey combo is so pretty. My chief complaint is that the elastic inside the band (only the lower piece, and only its upper edge) has ...started to curl, but because there's nowhere for it to go, it goes in to... me. It pokes and chafes pretty bad some days, so I think I'm going to try and stitch it down. I don't know if this is typical, because I haven't had any other Patsys that fit, and I haven't had very many Freyas at all (Fauve doesn't count!). Otherwise, I love it.
Cups: They are lovely. Just super comfy, and give me a great round shape. If they aren't quite projected enough at the base, it's not enough for the bra to fight with my breasts and ride down. Aside from the Fauves, this is the only bra I own that has enough projection for me! Half-cups 4 Lyfe. It does gap on top a little sometimes when I slouch, but I suspect that's because of how far apart the straps are, and let's face it, Freya seems to think that large cup = large ribcage, so there's really no escaping that. These are better than most I've tried, though, so that's nice!
There are some wrinkles at the first vertical cup seam, and by the inner wire, so I guess there is a little more projection there than I need, so that's cool. None of the wrinkles show through my clothes, though, so I didn't even notice them until I looked at the photos. It might be an issue for a super slinky top, but otherwise, I doubt it.
Wires: Wide enough, long enough, tall enough, shallow enough... This is starting to sound like a Rolling Stones song. They are almost shallow enough to follow my root curve exactly, which means the Patsy is in first place so far.
Bridge: Great! If I laze around in strange positions for a long time, the wires start to poke a bit because they are *technically* sitting on my center tissue, but there's also like a 1/2" of space in the wire channels, so I might just tack them to the outside. When I push them out, they mostly stay on their own anyway. You can see the difference in the photos.
Band: Tight enough. Curiously, though it doesn't move, and I don't feel the need to adjust it almost ever, it has a slight upward curve in the back, and when I shrug I do feel it shift, but it's still snug, supportive, and the rest of the bra doesn't move. Maybe this is why Figleaves models always look like they're wearing the wrong size Freya band?
I wish there were 3 hooks instead of 2, but the wings are otherwise tall enough that I don't ever miss it.
Straps: Fully adjustable, cushiony, soft, and no complaints from me. I like how wide they are.
So basically this is my favorite bra right now, minus that strange problem with the elastic. A+, Need more. Read more 465 more words
I first bought this bra in the black colourway and didn't actually think I'd like it in white. Boy was I wrong. The pink flowers are so vibrant and contrasts with the light grey line pattern on a soft white base. I love white bras, but they truly are impractical. Can’t wear them under dark clothing, and you can’t wear them under white shirts. Despite this, every detail of this bra makes me fall in love with it every time I see it peeking out from my bra drawer.
Pretties: - the flowery cup pattern continues up the straps so that the straps look cute peeking out beneath tank ...tops - there's soft lace detailing on the side panel which is see through! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_surprised.gif" alt=":O" /> - it's a longline without the pokey boning which makes it very comfortable like wearing a normal bra with a few extra hooks - the back is plain and sheer which looks very romantic - the cups are smooth to the touch and won’t snag or pill, similar to my Freya Piper Longline
Uglies: -none
But fit-wise, it's at the very least one cup too small. You can see from my pics that the cups being too shallow in this size, are pushed away from my chest wall resulting in the wires siting on my boobs and making a cute little indent. It doesn’t hurt at all, but it could just be my blind love for this bra that’s remedied the pain.
I get a decent round shape under clothing and under medium thickness clothing, the quadboob goes undetected. The most important thing about this bra is that it makes me feel pretty while comfortable. That scores the highest marks in my books.
I love this bra. It gives you cleavage for days, and looks great under virtually everything. No bra I know of gives you better cleavage than this baby. It actually makes my kind of saggy boobs look altered. Plunge style allows you to wear low cut tops.
I wear 28 band in some styles and 30 in others. I have this bra in 30FF and I always felt the band was a little loose. I had to wear it on the tightest hook right from the bat. The 28G I can wear comfortably on the loosest hook, but I wouldn't ...mind it being just a little tighter (I am 67cm right under the bust). The G cups fit me quite perfectly in this style bra, whereas I felt the FF cups on the 30 band were a tiny bit too big, but maybe thats because the band wasn't tight enough? I am 88cm across my bust.
The bra looks pretty sexy without your shirt, except in the nude, imo. It's not a granny bra but it's not overly sexy either. I wish they would make more colors/prints...
This is a MUST have. Try a couple of sizes out before giving up on this one. I recommend going down a band size from your normal size. It's hard to comment on cup size because it really depends on the shape of your boobs (with, bottom-heavy, high set, etc).
My nude one has stretched a little bit after 6 months of wearing it almost everyday and night, but I can still wear it and it looks great. I use only mild detergent and hand-wash, though I do not frequently wash my bras. I think it's very comfortable for an underwire push-up bra. Read more 198 more words
If you would like to get a more detailed description of this brand of bra, please read my reviews for the Freya Rio bra in sizes 28F and 28FF. Thank you!
This is the first bra in this style that I have encountered that has underwires that do not poke me at the center gore. The bra is overall comfortable, although the cups seem to be designed for someone with breasts that are fuller on top than mine are, which is why I get wrinkling even though the bra fits okay. I also find that the cups come up to the point where they almost fit ...me like a full-cup bra rather than a balconette. This bra would not be my first choice to wear out of the house simply because I dislike the wrinkling.
One last thing. I would like to point out that the straps might loosen just a little bit over time and I find the right length to be a bit difficult because I have to re-adjust a couple times a day when I wear this bra.
Please be patient! Measurements are coming soon! Read more 83 more words
This is actually the best fitting bra I've found to date. I wish it was a bit prettier, but it was on sale on Amazon. Band could stand to be a bit tighter *cough, hint freya, cough* but it's wearable.
Wires are good at 5.5, especially since they're flexible - I really think this is the narrowest I can go in flexible wires, need wider wires in U shaped or stiff brands. Cups not too shallow and are open enough on top. Minor gapping on my smaller side, no quadding on my bigger side. Had to adjust the straps quite a bit shorter - ...there are some long straps on this bra!
Gore starts to dig after all day wear... really is kind of a bummer because my inner fullness tends to spill out of plunges so this half cup or balconette style is good for my boobs, and I like the half cup in contrast to the Deco Hatty where the top of the cup wants more boob than I have up there. I will probably try out more Freya half cups and more balconette styles, I just wish the gores didn't bother my sternum. It is more comfortable than my CK Bardot, though.
I hope the material softens up after washing because it feels like steel wool. The cups being lined is the only thing that saves the scratchy shell from making me want to rip it off. Read more 137 more words
I'm a big fan of the regular Deco bras, but I struggle with the fit and find I'm between sizes in it. In this soft cup version I found the fit to be more true to size - my go-to size of a 28G works well. The band is tighter than a normal Deco, which is great for me as normal Decos are always too loose.
The support is not fantastic, which considering the construction is to be expected, but it's great for wearing round the house/popping out to the shops if you want something more comfortable. I know a lot of people were frustrated by the limited size ...range (D-G cups), but I don't think the bra would be supportive enough for a large cup size. I'm dubious it would work even for a 38G, which is the largest size available and considerably bigger than my 28G.
Compared to any other soft cup, the shape is great. It gives the perfectly rounded shape of the usual Deco, instead of the pointy/droopy shape soft cups normally give. It also gives a great cleavage, but in a 'boobs pressed together' way that can be sweaty and uncomfortable when it's hot outside.
The only thing I would really want to change about this bra is to make the band slightly wider. It seems like it has more work to do without wires and as a result it can dig in a bit. This isn't a major problem for me, but again I think it might be more of a problem in the larger sizes.
Overall, I love this bra for when I need something more comfortable than a normal bra but don't want to compromise on shape. I don't know of any other bra in the full bust market that offers this! Read more 189 more words
My shape is low set, short and narrow rooted, and soft.
This bra is the second Florri I've tried. I previously tried the 28FF - Freya » Florri Padded Half Cup Bra (3103) , and had some quadding, so I decided to try the 28G. I ordered it through Belle Lingerie via ebay because it was a couple dollars cheaper through ebay.
I marked this bra as fitting even though the bottom of the cup is a bit shallow at the wire, the cups are a touch wide, the wings are a bit too short, and the band is stretchy for a 28". It's called a half ...cup, but it's really cut like a balconnette. The shape is more natural than a half cup also, and it's more full coverage on the upper half of the boobs. I had to really hike it up because the bra wanted to sit a bit lower due to the shallowness at the wire. Originally I had some noticeable quadding, but once I hiked it up, it was better. I think the shallowness will "loosen up" after a couple wears and I won't notice it so much (as least that's what I'm hoping!).
It's very comfortable though, and the straps are extra wide, so they feel nice and supportive. The straps adjust long enough for my tall frame, and they look like they could adjust quite short also. There is a pattern on the straps that is pretty. The bra itself has a sort of satiny feel that will work well under cotton tops (no tenting). The band is stretchy, like I said, and it has 3 x 2 set of hooks. The hooks are spaced widely, so hooking an extender onto them might be a bit tricky, since most extenders have hooks closer together. The gore is quite wide, so if you're close set, this bra won't work for you. Again, I ordered a patterned bra, which is unlike me, but it's pretty and reminds me of summer with it's flower patterns.
Overall the quality feels really good, the comfort is excellent and the appearance is pretty good also. Read more 249 more words
Oh that's pretty! I may have to try it. Sounds like we are similar shapewise.
I got it at a really good price. Check Belle Lingerie and ebay (belle lingerie)
Looks like a better fit! Glad it works better for you!
Thanks. It's definitely not perfect, but it'll be comfortable, and for the price I paid... I can't complain.... I need to wear it longer to see if the wire shallowness makes the cup slide out of my IMF, but I'm hoping the fabric loosens up and accomodates the projection a bit more with some wear.
too bad the fit isn't a little better, it's super cute.
Did it wear in the way you hoped?
engineer I really like this bra actually. I'm temporarily wearing a different sister size due to sensory issues with snug bands, but this was a good one in my rotation. Comfortable and kept me contained. I never noticed the fit issues while wearing it. And I also think it's super cute. It's a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day kind of bra.
Glad it worked for you for a while. I agree with the ray of sunshine on a gloomy day phrasing. This hits that mark of "pleasant and happy" that the world could use a bit more of.
My shape: front-facing, mid-height, very close-set teardrop with tall shallow roots, lots of lower projection/depth, more side fullness and wide Nike-swoosh shaped roots, and self-supporting firm tissue
This was the last one available on clearance at Figleaves, and since it was discontinued a while ago, I jumped at the chance to try it! The print is bright and colorful, and while not my favorite, it's accented prettily and I could grow to like it. I probably won't have the chance to, though, because holy wow, this is tight. Ladies who want Freya 26s, find one of these on ebay! It's so tight on me that the eyelet lace edging ...distorts and flips even when I'm standing straight up and not slouching. I don't know if this was a one-off different sloper/model they decided to try, or perhaps an older band style I'm unfamiliar with, but I've never experienced a Freya band this small. It has 3 rows of two hooks (3.8 cm tall at the narrowest), but I'm not sure I could even get away with just a single extender. Crazy!
The tight band made all the other fit problems inescapable, too: whereas my 28G - Freya » Patsy Padded Half Cup Bra (1223) is a bit shallow on the draft, I can get a little lift from it due to the band support, but between my breasts pushing down on the wire trying to find more space and the band trying to find a smaller spot lower on my ribcage, this one was doomed from the start. It's otherwise a fairly good fit, with a smooth upper edge (mostly) and a wide-enough wire. I wish the wings were taller because I have full side roots that like to bulge over, but self-supporting tissue means it doesn't actually spill out, and other ladies might prefer the lower wire and wing.
I wouldn't exactly call this a mean, stabby gore, because the wires aren't poking: it's just being smashed into my chest by the super-tight band. It is too tall, but so are basically all balconette styles on me (does a half-cup bra with a Victoria Secret plunge gore exist? I doubt it!). Curiously, there is no extra space in the wire channel, one of the reasons I wondered if this was an older model, because all the newest Patsy clones I've tried have a cm or more to play with, so if the gore IS pokey, they can be pushed out to the sides for some relief.
The straps are only half-adjustable, too. Definitely not for me. Back to the store it goes! Read more 323 more words
Thanks for the detailed and informative review! Interesting to hear about a Freya that could fit like a 26. Too bad I can't find it in my size online anymore!
Just measured it: 23" unstretched. 23 inches! That means it might be better for someone who really needs a 24, because it barely stretches to 30". What on earth??
Unstretched is not what you want to look for when trying to find your band size. This bra shows 31.7" stretched. So this is a looser fitting 28. Or someone needs to measure their bras more accurately. 8" is double the amount of suggested stretch in a band. It would make it seem this bra is quite flimsy.
If your ribcage measures 24" for example, you wouldn't want a bra that measures that in its unstretched state. Of what use are the extra eyes? That would be like putting an elastic in your hair and not wrapping it around anymore. It's going to fall out.
This IS NOT a good bra recommendation for those needing a size 26 band.
I did specify someone who needs a 26 in Freya, since they are known to be stretchier. It is extremely tight on me, and all my other current Freya half-cups are 28s. Unfortunately, I can't re-measure, although I did 3 or 3 times, because I returned the bra.
80.6 cm was the maximum band stretch. Regular, comfortable band stretch (as it might fit while wearing it) was less than 10cm, to about 70.1.
I have loved this print for ages and really wanted this bra in my collection ever since I missed out on the solid cobalt blue colorway before Decos became a good fit on me. The band fits like a true 28 to me (but stretchy, not stiff). It's one of the softest and most comfortable bras I have ever put on. The materials are much more supple than on my Deco Vibe. Sadly the cups are too tall for me. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Just want to drop this link here in case anyone wants one - this seller has them NWT for like $20. I just bought one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121488320715
I'm actually selling mine. Also I won't buy from that seller because I've had bad experiences with them. Sadly I paid more for mine as a result of purchasing from a retailer I trust more, so my price reflects that, but open to offers on my listings for a 28G an 30FF. http://www.bratabase.com/bra/di7vb/
This bra has been heavily altered, by taking in the cup height (and therefore changing the shape) and moving the straps inward. It sort of has has the shape of a vintage strapless pin up bra now and it works like a charm. Perfect https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Beforehand, after a couple times of wearing the bra, it started to fold at the bottom which changes the shape and support completely. Also the straps and the top of the cups were digging into my armpits, because the cup height was massive for my short roots, Now those problems are solved too!
I wrote off Freya's Deco plunge bra nearly 2 years ago when it was a total fail for me. My very soft tissue spilled out of the center right away if I moved or bent over. With short roots and high set breasts, the wires poked and the top edge of the cups rested in my armpits (cups were too tall). It also felt like I was wearing a straight jacket. The cups felt thick and the wires were torture. The Deco became my archetype of a bra that just would never work for me.
I even tried a few Deco bras ...at Nordstrom with two different fitters. They both had a tendency to tighten the straps far too much for comfort and I think that also distorted my view of a good fit.
I read reviews since then that suggested that new models of the Deco with the trim along the edge of the cup had an improved fit. I ignored those reviews because Deco would never work for my pudding boobs.
Fast forward 2 years and I just re-measured myself a couple of weeks ago. I've lost a bit of weight and gone down from 30G/GG to 28G. For some unknown reason, I ordered a Freya Deco Vibe that was on sale with free returns. I think it was the cheapest bra I could find in size 28G and figured even if it didn't work, I could test the volume of it.
Then the unthinkable happened. It fit! Seriously, this bra fits me like a glove. My tissue is contained above the gore by the binding along the top of the cup. The wires might be a tad wide, but they're not too tall. I actually don't mind a *slightly* wide cup and prefer it to a very narrow, projected one. The cup height is about 7", which works for me (surprisingly), but the strap edge comes up a little higher. That would be the only thing I would change because I get "strap gap" when I slouch. The gaping is really not that severe, though, and I just have to adjust the straps with a bit of precision and I get a beautiful silhouette. What I've also learned is that I don't need as high a gore as I thought. I have a short torso, anyway. I just need a bra that doesn't allow my inner fullness to spill out so easily.
I'm super excited by how smooth and uplifted my profile is with this bra. I once remarked that I wish Freya Decos would fit me, because I would just buy a bunch of them and never need another bra. I'm pretty close to doing that. Time will tell if the bra continues to fit beautifully with wear. Then my wallet will become sad.
Some negatives:
When testing it, I find that if I bend over completely to pick something up off the floor, I might have to readjust or my boobs wrinkle a little towards the center. I don't own a bra yet that doesn't do this, so it's not a deal breaker.
Now for the annoying part. The selling point for the Vibe is the racer-back conversion J-hook attachment. This could be a useful addition to my wardrobe, especially for the warmer weather. Unfortunately, I have to tighten the straps on this bra so much that the adjusters are on the front, which means that for normal wear, the J-hook is also at the front. It irritates my skin and you can see the hook part through some shirts. I also tend to wear a backpack when traveling and think that the J-hook would cause major problems with snagging. I will probably have to snip it off with wire cutters, which breaks my heart.
Unsewing the straps and flipping them back-to-front would probably work.
Not sure what that means, but I don't have the sewing skills or sewing machine to tackle taking apart a bra ...
I think she meant removing the straps and flipping them so the j hook would end up in the back like it is suppose to. It wouldn't be hard, a seam ripper, needle and thread.
Oh. I think shortening the straps would be an easier solution, but I might just snip it off instead.
I'm actually really surprised at this bra. I ordered this bra on sale, before I realized the extent of my tissue migration, and started thinking it'd be tried on and promptly returned. Or if I kept it, I figured it would fit like my Hatty - a bit too wide, a bit too gappy at the top, but would serve its multi-way bra purpose and that would be that.
Well, these cups measure 5.5" - same as my Hatty. Depth is smaller than my Hatty at 9" but is right on target for a bra with an index size of 28:9. I ...probably could have done a GG for the sake of my bigger boob, but I don't think it's quadding enough to bother me. Time will tell. The good part is the Deco-gap at the top of the cups is much less pronounced in this style. Maybe it's due to the seam/edging at the top of the cup. I've heard that really stands out under shirts in other styles like the Spotlight and Vibe, but I haven't tried this bra on under a tighter shirt yet to find out. The cups are too shallow at the bottom, and fold over under my boob after a couple hours' wear. They're molded like every other Deco variation, and theoretically seamless under shirts. This is my only ivory color bra. The weird pattern on the band is meh. It needs to be a bit more vibrant, because as is it kinda looks like a stain.
The band has THREE HOOKS! Let's all take a moment to appreciate that. Not only that, it's a FIRM Freya band, stretching to 27.75"! Yes!!!! I wonder if Freya did this because the straps can be removed and it could be worn as a strapless? I don't see myself wearing it as a strapless, because of the cup construction, but regardless having a firm 3 hook band from Freya is like finding a unicorn.
UPDATE: Sold it, once I realized the wires sat half an inch below my IMF and half an inch outside my side root. It got really uncomfortable after a couple of hours. Read more 271 more words
Since this is the slip version of the Icon Moulded Plunge Balcony bra, most of the information here is identical, because the fits are also identical. The only differences are the band measurements, stretched and unstretched. The slip is half an inch larger. And the cup separation for the slip is just a smidge wider, by .125" (1/8). The straps are still far apart but they don't feel like they'll fall off my shoulders compared to the bra. The lace also doesn't seem quite so tall, even though they both are the same height layed on top of one another.
Measurements for size 28G (UK), in inches:
Stretched Band 28.5 Band ...Length 24.5 Cup Width 5.5 Cup Depth 9.5 (6.5 for lining taken from same point) Wire Length 9.25 Cup Separation 1.125 Center Gore Height 2.25 Wing Height 3.25 Strap Width .75 Hooks 2
Slip length in inches: Side Length (from top of wings) 24 Front Length (from top of gore) 22 Back Length (taken from below the closure) 19
PROS: -Nice design and overall color combination. -More flexible foam lining that does not feel like the traditional cardboard Deco. It compresses a lot better so in a way it almost feels like a spacer foam. -No trim on the foam cups. The edge is serged and does not add bulk like the trim, and in comparison to Freya's current Deco styles, this edge is more flexible, better suited to those with fuller tissue. If you lack sufficient upper breast tissue this may be a problem. -The lace is stretchy. -The slip is long enough to wear with dresses, provided they are not fitted. This has a bit of flow to it but because it's sheer, it's not heavy feeling. (Stock photos make this look butt-skimming...I'm 5'4" with a very long torso and this hits mid thigh.)
CONS: -Poor concept of reducing the lining to a balcony, because your nipples pop out from the top. It is angled far too much for the overall look, so this is really like a plunging shelf bra with some lace slapped on top of it! The foam lining runs about 3 sizes too small. -Band fits large. 29" for a size 28? Really, Freya? -Cups are too far apart so this bra gives a tremendous East-West look! Not attractive! -Straps could be a little closer but they're not as widely spaced as the bra's. -Gives a pointy look because the foam lining is sitting below the apex. -This goes for the bra as well (forgot to mention it) - the foam is really shallow at the bottom of the cups. Causes Orange-In-A-Glass.
Overall: As is the case with the bra, the foam on this is ridiculous. Way too small. I was really hoping that maybe I bought a mistake bra until I got this in the next day and realized the foam looked the same. I don't get it. Freya claims their models are always wearing 30F and the girl they used to model this line was reported to be a fuller 30F. Yet if you take a look at the bra she's wearing there is a big difference in the style of the foam, so I have to wonder if they didn't stick her in a bra that was a few sizes too small. I'm thinking they're keeping the foams relatively the same size and only adjusting the lace. That makes a lot of sense because a smaller size will have less lace coverage, and their model is wearing a bra that has maybe a centimeter difference at the most between the edge of the foam and edge of the lace at the gore. Then again, other bras online from different retailers and blog also look like that. So maybe Figleaves has received the crappy versions that failed QC inspections...
This almost looks like it's not sitting correctly on me...in one of the photos you can see what looks like empty space at the bottom of the cup. I'm completely filling this out and the wires are angled directly underneath my tissue. I think I'm experiencing some Orange-In-A-Glass.
Babydolls are usually intended for bedroom use, not for under clothing?
Pretty design very much tempting like just flew in bra tho there is no my size
dbmamaz this doubles as a slip like what you would wear under a dress. Most full body slips that are not spandex or form fitting have a fit the same as this babydoll. The fit of the cups is exactly like the bra, so it can be worn under clothes.
@FoxTaylor Freya has been limiting their size ranges lately. I do not understand why, considering most people are asking for them to extend the sizes. It's a shame, but a lot out their bras lately are just "looking at" pieces =(
HLA Exactly!! I had asked few times but still look at them! I think They got no plan to extend their size range at all.
This bra gives a nice, uplifted, natural shape. With many unlined bras I end up with a very pointy shape, but this one is round enough for me to feel comfortable in. The material itself is also very comfortable. My breasts are close set and full on the bottom, and the center gore on this bra is low enough to tack without sitting on my breast tissue. The lace up top also sits nicely, but there's enough stretch to it that I think it might work well for women with more upper fullness, too.
I adore the longline look, so I figured it was finally time to get one of my own. I usually wear a 28FF, but I decided to take a chance on the 28G since it was available. The band is pretty tight on the loosest row (there are only two), but it very stretchy, and I think it will get more comfortable with more wear. Straps are fully adjustable, and sit comfortably on my shoulders.
I honestly did not think it was possible for a cup width to be too wide for me, but Just Flew In definitely walks the line. I would probably like for ...it to be a little more narrow, but there is breast tissue all the way to the end, so it's not that big of a deal. Once the bra is pulled right up into my inframammary fold (And stays there! That never happens!), my breasts fill the cups very nicely and I have very little empty space on my higher breast.
A small bit of gaping at the top, but I do feel like that's from going to a "G" cup, and it's really not noticeable enough for me to worry about it. The gore is probably the biggest complaint I have. It comes up quite high and leaves very angry red marks when I remove the bra. I wish there was a way to bend it out *ever so slightly*, just to take a smidgen of pressure off, but it does not hurt so far.
Overall I feel the fit is pretty nice, but would have been perfect had I gotten my proper size. I will keep it and wear it, because *damn* is it beautiful, and it creates a really nice smooth, rounded shape that looks great under anything that I own. Read more 198 more words
