This is my first vertical seamed bra and I'm not quite sure about it. The top of the cup seems tight and unforgiving and wants to dig in. I think this bra might suit someone with more bottom fullness to help fill out the vertical seam and avoid the top edge. I will report back once I've worn this for a day to determine whether I will keep or list this bra.
So I've worn this for a day and it feels comfortable. I don't think I am quite filling out the apex of these cups, which makes me think this bra requires a fuller bottomed breast. I was wrong in thinking the top was digging in because it is not an issue today.
I'm curious to see this bra in person and might check it out if it's at Nordstrom... But based on the vertical seam bras I used to wear when I was smaller, when you get this effect it's usually because you have too MUCH lower projection and the cup cannot accommodate it, so it kind of scrunches down as your boob climbs up to where there is more depth. This could also explain why the cup edge is cutting in, your whole breast is sitting higher in the cup than the designer intended so the cup edge cuts across a fuller part of your breast.
That's an interesting point. I think that there is enough depth for me because it measures at 9" which is usually perfect for me. I also made it sound like I was quad-boobing in this bra, but I'm not today. I usually scoop and swoop so that my nipples are higher, but today I'm seeing what happens when I let them rest more naturally. I'm going to wear this today to see how my breasts settle into this bra.
Scooping & swooping is important though, not just to bring your nipples up, but to be sure you have all of your breast tissue in the cup and supported by wires that are sitting where they need to be. From these pics, I would say it looks about a half cup too small.
I think these pictures aren't very good. I'll take new ones today once I get home. I'm wearing this right now and I'm not minding the fit. The wrinkling in the vertical seam I was talking about in my review seems to have flattened out with washing. Once I take it off and see the marks I'll know if I got everything inside the wires. And I dont really have a lot of extra skin to scoop and swoop anyway. I usually do the "lean, scoop, and wiggle" when I put on a bra and then reach in and smooth forward and upwards. Does that make sense? I feel like if I went up a cup it would be too big. Vertical seamed bras are a mystery to me and I do appreciate any input!
With vertical seamed bras it's often not the depth at the normal measured point (wire tip to wire tip level) that is a problem. It's the depth in the lower half of the cup. Vertical seamed cups are usually pretty shallow down there.
I want to love this bra so bad, however, it's just not projected enough for me. However, I'm considering keeping it because it's comfortable. The padding is great and so is the lift it gives. The material is soft.
Just got this bra in the mail, and I am SO happy. It's obviously very similar to the Deco Honey, but somehow, the cups fit a lot better. Instead of being further off to the sides, it fits me exactly where I need it. Wires are narrow enough, depth is good, band is, so far nice and snug. Color and design= A++. The blush is a delicate pink, as opposed to how it appears in some photos as a light beige-y pink. There's all the frills, and bows on the straps, same as the Honey, but in a different color from the bra, which is great. No gaping or quadding this time. I'd ...recommend this to anyone with average to narrow roots, and with average projection. I'm even to FoT, and this fits me very nicely. I don't know why my Honey and Vibe are different, but this one fits me a lot better. The cups are also moulded, fairly thick, so they obviously give a nice round shape.
Edit: I've worn this 2-3 times now. I know, bad https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":p" /> I definitely need to order more. This is what I've been looking for. Fits sooo much better than the Honey, cup shape wise. That one, the cups are less forward facing IMO, less close, and kinda taper to the sides up top, which is the opposite of what I need. I have tall, semi shallow roots, and my boobs touch after they're lifted any amount. The Vibe is close enough for my boobs, and doesn't start goimg off to the sides but stays up front and centered. The top of the cups are both deep and shallow enough for my roots. No cutting in or gaping, both of which I get with the Honey . The band is also much firmer. Makes me feel great all day. I'll be stocking up on these https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Edit2: Forgot to add, you can make this into a racerback, and adjust the hooks to where you want them on your back. I thought this was a cool feature, as some racerback tops are cut differently and then you can still see certain racerback bras.
Edit3: I've started experiencing some weird gapping in the tops of the cups UNLESS I use the racer back clip. It's weird, because it's not nearly as bad as the Honey (because the cups taper off towards my arms up top), but it's still noticeable. I'm very shallow up top, so I think I just can't do tall, stiff/molded cups. I mean I can, it's just not a great fit. I think the racer back clip pulls the straps in a way that pulls the cups even more towards the center, and flattens them, and that's why that works.
So just FYI, might not work for tall-shallow roots. Probably better for a lot of upper or all around fullness. I only have fullness in the very center.
The Vibe was apart of the "new" Deco re-design that included the new stitching on the top of the cups. Other styles like this are Deco Charm, Delight and Rebel.
ProperlyFitted So that explains why the Charm and Vibe fit so differently than the Honey! Thanks :D now I know to search around for the others ^_^
This is a nice plunge bra. I find plunges a bit tricky and tend to get a tiny bit of quadboob because of the distance between the cups. This did that as well, but only a very small bit so it is definitely wearable and comfortable. The shape it gives is more natural and less rounded than Cleo unpadded bras like Marcie. Good support and lift, though.
I found this last night at Nordstrom rack. It is perfect. In my opinion! I'd like to know what others think because I'm new to this. The underwire hits at exactly the right spot, the gore sits flat and feels fine, the band has that firm feeling that I've been looking for while still being extremely comfortable, no spillage, no wrinkling, no poking, and the material inside the cups feels like clouds.haha I didn't want to take it off. As far as being able to recommend this to others with similar boobs: I've been unsure whether or not I have shallow breasts; I feel lile they're at least slightly shallow. I'm not sure if ...shallowness has anything to do with FoT or FoB, and I appear slightly more FoT but I don't have a nice upper rounded appearance, but I do have a slight lower rounded appearance, so I'm just lost. Maybe they're equal? As for root, maybe a wide or average root. I'm new to this so I apologize that I still haven't figured that out :/ I will update this as soon as I do https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":p" /> Read more 78 more words
Shallow boobs or not, or whatever you have, this bra looks terrific on you. Picture #9 looks perfect.
Please don't ever feel like you need to apologize for not having figured out your breasts. Even the most experienced women here sometimes are surprised by what their breasts decide to do.
As for me, I've been here for several months now and I'm still pretty much clueless. Of course, trying to lose weight, and the fact that my boobs are still growing makes figuring them out an ever-moving target. For the time being, I started wearing a corset and stopped wearing bras, since all my bras are underwires and the wires keep getting pushed up into my arm pits.
This bra looks good on you! No need to apologize for having questions about boobs or bras. That's one of the main reasons for the community to exist!
I love Frey's half cup longlines. They're so cute!
Kristine Thank you! :) Corsets actually sound like a brilliant idea.
@learningaboutbras Thank you also! I agree. I found a few on ebay and I already can't wait to get another.
First of all, The cut of this bra is quite different from the usual Cleo balcony or Freya halfcup style. I like that! The band is firm (nice surprise in a Freya bra), and the wires are quite wide and slightly stretch with the band. The Marvel is comfy to wear and gives my wide root shallow boobs a nice rounded and centered shape - not quite as rounded and in-your-face upfront as a "Cleo George" style balcony - but sometimes I like it better this way. The cups are open on top, but not as open as, say, Ewa Michalak's HM style. I have balanced fulness (neither FoT nor FoB) and it suits me well.
I get slight gaping at the center gore because I don't have a lot of projection there. I don't mind as it's not noticable under clothing and doesn't compromise the shape.
I tried both the glacier (white/mint) and black (with purple sprinkles) colorway and the measurements and fit are virtually identical.
Runs small in the cups and tight in the band. My measurements are 27" tightly/29" loosely, and the 30 fits very tight - no way I could fit into a 28 band in this style.
See my review for 32DD - Freya » Enchanted Plunge Balcony Bra (1571) for main review. This 30E is not as tight as the first 30E I tried - it's band length is more comparable to my other Freya plunge-balconettes rather than being a good inch shorter as the previous one was - and is pretty much wearable so far. I think I'll want to spend a few hours breaking it in before I try to wear it for a whole day!
Edit: So, this morning I decided to begin the breaking-in process, and I realised that this bra doesn't fit. At all. I get quad-boob on ...both sides, and on my smaller side there's also a fold between the main cup and the upper lace section. How did I not notice this before? It was only a few days ago that I bought it!
Anyway, after giving it some thought, I reckon the reason the Enchanted doesn't work for me is because it's expecting more top projection than my boobs have (I'm semi-projected on the bottom and shallow on the top even though I'm fuller on the top than on the bottom) so the space in the upper half of the cup is basically in the wrong place for me. I think this bra would work for someone with even fullness/full on top combined with upper and lower projection! Read more 122 more words
I think the new season Deco colours are stunning. For some reason I seem to accidentally accumulate pink bras. I don't hate pink, but it's not exactly my favourite colour (hmm, come to think of it I have literally NO pink items in my wardrobe that aren't underwear). It just so happens that the last couple of bras that seem to fit me well happen to be pink (Cleo Maddie and Freya Ashlee half cup - both fairly similar candy sweet shades). Whilst the 30E Maddie is fairly new and still fits well, I've outgrown my 30DD Ashlee and am into unfortunate quad-boob territory. So when I saw ...the new Topaz Deco Honey and the Cobalt Deco (both about a million miles away from the candyfloss pink of my current go-to bra) I was super excited! It was lust at first sight. So, my relationship with Deco - I have a Taylor which fits fairly well, and a Firecracker Honey which I got form another Bratabase user and is too small. I know the Deco range are said to have narrow wires and are better for FOT, projected shapes, the COMPLETE POLAR OPPOSITE to my shallow wide boosoombas. I was just about coming to the realisation (enter Maddie) that although I wanted the Deco to work, maybe it just never would be quite right....and having to look for other T-shirt bras became my quest. However, my local House of Fraser actually (shock horror!) had both these new Deco designs in MY SIZE!! (30E) So I figured I would try them, just to remind myself of what I already new - fit ok, but not great - wires too narrow, cups too deep. BUT - ooh something has changed! Both the topaz and cobalt now have a seamed edge to the cups. It's slightly raised (which I thought may defeat the whole object of a smooth bra, d'oh!) and gives the cups a neat, finished look, which aesthetically I think I prefer to the Decos/Deco Honeys pre-this season. I've heard that the Flamingo also had this. So... I think it has really improved the fit. Less gaping that before, slightly more contoured to the boob....even, surely not, a less tall (shorter?! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":-D" />) cup - all the things it's known for, and all the things that don't work for me. Maybe even (gasp!) wider wires?! Hmm maybe this is just me getting all excited and carried away...but overall, for me the fit is pretty excellent now. Deco Honey has retained a lot of the things I previously liked - firm, thick-ish band, thick fully adjustable straps, simple classic design but with gorgeous twists (ooh the buttons, eek the lace! etc). The colour is great as a light coloured alternative to white/nude bras. Wore it for the first time today and it may take a few wears to adjust the straps to the perfect length, I noticed there is still some gaping when I sit in odd positions or move around a lot, and the raised trim is probably a touch more visible that before, but I think the change is definitely a positive one for me. I will review the Deco Cobalt once I've worn it, but it seems nigh on identical to this one in terms of shape and measurements. Woop indeed. Read more 445 more words
The actual color of this bra is much more vivid than the official pictures of it. It's a cross between candy pink and hot pink.
I love the shape it gives: very uplifted and very round but there's a bit of weirdness going on shape-wise on the sides. It's hard to explain but it's visible even on the official pictures. It's kind of pointy toward the outside. It's invisible underneath clothing though, so not much of a problem.
The 30 band is too large for me. I need a 28 but since this is an old model, I had to take what I could get on Ebay and that was a 30E. I can wear it on the tightest hook but I prefer to use a Rixie clip for a more secure fit when I wear it all day.
All in all, this would be my perfect bra in the correct size. Half-cups that give a cake on a plate look are my favorite.
I absolutely love this bra! My breasts are asymmetrical, so the cup gapes a little on my smaller breast and is slightly too small on my larger breast. However it looks great under a shirt!
I also like that this bra gives me a nice amount of cleavage without push-up padding. It causes my breasts to be positioned more front & center on my torso, which I feel like is a more flattering silhouette. It is comfortable and supportive.
I love the strap width and the fact that they are fully adjustable.
My ribcage is 29" and even though the 30E seems to be a decent enough fit, I would be interested in trying on a 28F. I think I would prefer the band to be a little snugger.
It fits well, it feels like good quality materials, and it's quite pretty. It would be perfect if the top edge of the cup lay flat. It's not that the cup is too big--the molded edge above the ribbon actually turns up and out, and shows up as a stark outline especially under stretchy knit fabric, which is most of my shirts. I'm going to keep it because it's comfortable, but I think I'll be hard pressed to find multiple shirts that work with this bra.
I included a picture of the bra under a sweater. In the photo it looks almost as if the sweater is translucent, but it's quite opaque--it's just showing the outline of the bra cups.
I am pleasantly surprised by the band of this longline. As somebody who usually wears 28 bands (and loves longlines), I daresay that I almost don't have to alter it. Unfortunately, I have soon become a sub 28 band (26.5" now) and the 30 band is really unacceptable. I recommend this to 29" and maybe 28".
The print is lovely. I imagine a goth princess, an antique dress collector, or even a Japanese lolita trend-follower wearing this longline - definitely a crowdpleaser. The color scheme and the floral is not tacky in any way (I am very sensitive to things like that). The ...fabric is soft and the powermesh sides are nice and firm.. Even more firm than the same size in a Freya Carys longline.
The back band closes in 2 rows of 6 hooks. I must admit, the 2 rows does leave more to be wanted, but I feel like the firmness of the band makes up for this.
The vertical seaming on the cup is wonderful for full on top/shallows and, to me, the Freya padded halfcup style is unrivaled by the Freya unpadded balconette styles. (However, I did briefly try the Freya Ginny and I can't say the same about the diagonal seam on that padded halfcup).
*** Also, the straps aren't the traditional ugly Freya straps. They match the pattern on the bra body and they're smooth and thin with a slight padding - very comfortable and don't dig in! Read more 144 more words
I was unsure about the Freya Trudie when I saw it online, the combination of polka dots and flowers looked to be a little much! However when I received it I completely changed my mind, in person she's ever so pretty, cute and fun, and looks great on. I love the colours, especially the mint green straps, I've wasted a lot of time just looking at it! Appearance-wise it is one of my favourite bras.
Considering it's an unpadded bra I think it gives a lovely shape, uplifted but natural, and the support is very good too. It does make my boobs look ever so slightly (and I do ...mean only a tiny bit) pointy, but as soon as I have clothes on over the top it smoothes right out and looks very nice. I personally haven't had a problem with the seams or embroidery showing through even tight t-shirts, but very thin clothes could be a problem, or if you're someone who is particularly conscious about things like that.
As far as fit goes; my ribcage measures 29" and I think I probably could have gone for a 28 band, as I can stretch the it out a good 3-4 inches from my back. I do also find that the underwires are extremely pokey with very little padding, on my sternum and under my arms. I am unsure as to whether this is because I need to go up in the cup, or whether my ribcage flairs out and my sternum is especially bony, or whether the bra just needs a little more breaking in (I am very new to the world of lingerie and correctly fitting bras and am finding myself on a steep learning curve !) Because of this I can only comfortably wear this bra for about 6 hours before it starts to get quite painful.
Overall, the bra is beautiful and really good quality, and gives a nice shape and support. However, in this size, I think my fit may need a little tweaking.
I really want to love the Deco -- it is a gorgeous, deep plunge style that lifts my boobs and gives them fabulous cleavage.
However, gapping is a serious issue for me in this bra, and while it isn't visible in a fitted shirt (most likely due to the stiff, molded cups), it bugs me.
Since I heard that this bra is a bit big in the band, I first tried it in a 28F. I was met with massive quadboob and painful underwire. Since I figured it was a band issue, I tried a 30E. The cup volume definitely did not seem the same, despite it being a sister size, since I have lots of gapping at the top.
This bra is definitely extremely large in the cup. I'd say between a cup to two cup sizes larger than most soft cups I've tried.
Regardless, I have kept the bra since the gapping doesn't show in tees and during my time of the month, I fill out the bra pretty well.
Jolie is a great bra it has fit me well at several different bra sizes over the years. The cups stay smooth, as they are made from substantial enough lace fabric, and remain attractive. This bubblegum pink shade is lovely and bright and fun. In 30E this bra is ever so slightly big in the cup now if I slouch but fine when I stand up straight! Probably because my boobs are bottom heavy - especially since loosing weight - so I am noticing this top-cup gaping quite often now with different bras I try. Must stand up straight!!! Definitely recommend this one.
Like many others, I love the Deco for its comfort and shape. I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you're coming from Victoria's Secret bras. It will give you the kind of shape you're used to. The molded cups are pretty thick, but there's no "push up" padding like there is in many American bras.
I have this bra in Nude and Pistachio. The pistachio seems a teeny bit bigger in the cups, so you might want to try on different colors before you buy if you're on the cusp of a size.
One of the straps on the pistachio-colored bra started unraveling after only a few weeks, so you should be careful with how you care for these.
Labelled a UK 30E, but purchased as and comparable to a US 30DDD.
This just does not work for me. It's supposed to be full coverage but it is not! It actually has smaller cups than the Freya Rio, and about the same cup dimensions as the Freya Pollyanna but with a slightly longer underwire, so this bra is really more of a plunge, not full coverage. The center (main) seam running horizontally across the cup is place far too low by about 1". Maybe they did that on purpose because it's a "retro" style, I don't know, but it's the main reason why these cups run too small ...on everyone despite them having an appropriate cup depth for the specific size. For example, my 30E/DDD has a cup depth of 8.75" which would coincide with that cup size. Because the seam is place so low it causes the breast tissue to be pushed down instead of up. I might as well not even wear a bra if I wanted to go for that look. (Btw, I look bigger from the side naked than with this bra on...that should tell you something)
The cups almost look like they are a size too big on me in the pictures, but I can assure you it's just the angle. They are not cut high enough for me and you can see how they are pushing down on the breast tissue, but I think going up to a 30F/DDDD would be too large. The band is too big for me, unstretched it's the same measurement as my ribcage. I bought this when I was still trying to find my right size, I was wearing 34D and 32DD but the bands were too big and this one looked like a nice basic.
I have altered the straps, in an attempt to get this to fit I cut and resewed the straps back onto the elastic part of the straps by a little over 1". They hold together just fine, did a couple rows of straight stitching following by a tight zigzag stitch over that. Read more 239 more words
This and the same style in 32DD are my best fits currently. Had a bit of wrinkling in the cups at first but after S&S and tightening the straps (they were falling off my shoulders and needed to anyways), the wrinkling went away. Bent the wires slightly to fit the curve of my ribcage as they were digging in slightly. I think the edge of the wire ended up pressing into one of the nerves under my arm (?) which caused a bit of soreness up and down my arm so I added an extender, which helped a lot https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
