    Didn't fit

*Updated review: It's just soooo dang wide. The more I wore it, the more I realized the whole neckline and design of the plunge just doesn't work out with my inner fullness. Like the inside edge of the cup barely covers my nipple on my bigger breast. But I don't quadboob, and I don't think a bigger size would solve it. I think the wires would definitely be too big in a 30G. The bottom of the cups is too shallow for me. Plus the band is too loose now, and with the straps barely adjusting long enough for me, it ... likes to ride up.*

Oh, I'm in looooove. What a beautiful bra!

Band: I can close it on the tightest hook, but I'm a bit worried about the durability of the satin band, so I'm closing it on the middle hook for now. Hopefully it doesn't snag or run. Feels snug enough for now, and it doesn't stretch too much so hopefully because of the satin it won't stretch out excessively.

Cups: Wide - 6.1" - the gore tacks nicely. I get great lift and they're tall enough to enclose everything on the sides without digging into my armpits. Open on the top, no quadding. Designed for wide rooted, wide set, shallow boobs. The lace detail is gorgeous. They are cotton lined for comfort and lightly padded but not enough to add to my size.

Straps: Not fully adjustable unfortunately. I have them as loose as they can go, which thankfully is just barely long enough for me.

The lace detail covers the vertical seam, but I probably won't wear this as a thin tee shirt bra. I don't wear a lot of thin shirts without a cami underneath them anyways.

What a beauty!!! Congrats on the fit, it sure looks good!

This is one of the bras I have on my wishlist! You said it is somewhat shallow and that worries me!

I've gathered the measurement infos of my best fitting bras atm, and I got a range of:

cup width: 5.3-5.4 (even though I have a Panache Tango as 28G with 5.8 that actually fits: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/tango-classic-plunge-4806/28G/)

cup depth: 8.4 - 9.3 (the referred Panache Tango is actually 9.8 and it fits!)

Judging from that, Alice will probably be too wide for my shape! What a bummer!

    • 1

I would say it is somewhat shallow, yes. It is wide for sure though. Mine measures 6.1" which is slightly wider than some of the other 30F measurements entered, but still quite a bit wider than your preferred width excluding your Tango. The depth agrees though. It really is a beauty. I gave in and closed it on the tightest hook, if the band stretches it's one I'm willing to alter down to make the bra last.

    • lcl0706 yeah, it will probably have the same problem as my Cleo Neve!

Yeah, I think you should keep it and alter it when needed!

    • 1

Yeah, if the Neve doesn't work for you, this won't. Incidentally, I have a Neve arriving tomorrow hehe

    • lcl0706 good luck on that! :)

I'm currently looking for a strapless bra...can't find the perfect one!

    • 1

I'm itching to get my hands on a Neve strapless, but waiting to see how my regular Neve fits first. I also would like a nude color strapless, I need to list my 28F deco strapless and get a 28FF but can't find one anywhere and haven't wanted to get rid of the only strapless I own that is passable. Both of those are wide shallow strapless bras so that probably doesn't help you haha. I'm just waiting for a few more things to sell before I drop $60-$70 on the Neve strapless - and finding that one in a 28 band anywhere is proving quite difficult. I see many 30 band alterations in my future :-S

    • 1

lcl0706 Oh, I was hopeful deco strapless would work for me! :( But 5.8 is probably way too much!

I found this listing on ebay, with one 28FF deco strapless: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121625489117?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

    • 1

Wow, that's a good deal! Tempting! The Rhea probably wouldn't work for me but the other 2 should. That's kinda worth it just for the Freya.

    • 1

myfashioninsider have you looked at either the Panache Evie strapless or the Fantasie smoothing strapless? I can't remember your band size, but Fantasie's smoothing strapless only goes down to 30. I've owned & sold one - cups runs big, my 30F I sold swallowed me up. But it does its job well, if you can get over how utilitarian it looks. The 30E is 5.4W x 8.9D according to BTB.

The Evie strapless seems to be narrower than the Porcelain strapless but there's not a full measurement table on BTB.

    • lcl0706 I was eyeing a 30E fantasia smoothing strapless at ebay, but I saw reviews and they were disappointing! Also, didn't like the shiny finishing...

I'm trying to decide if I should order a Pour Moi strapless in 30F. I've only seen the measurements of the 30G and there aren't much reviews... But it's really cheap, so I'm tempted to give it a go!

As for Evie, tried it once and, back then, didn't like how it fit!

    • 1

myfashioninsider Ill have to look up the Pour Moi. My fantasie wasn't that shiny, not overly shiny. I think it would have definitely served its purpose had it not been too big. My main complaint was the gore. It was so high it was painful, but I don't know if that was because the whole thing was so big on me.

    • lcl0706 Strapless bras are so difficult :/ baaah

    • Because they're all wider in the cups and shallower than regular bras. Good for me. Not good for most people.

    30DD

    Fits

This is my most expensive bra to date (US $60), but it basically fits perfectly, and is a really pretty, high-quality bra, so I'm happy!

I have a shallow shape with wide root, and this doesn't give me any quadboob at all! However, my boobs are relatively low-set, so I have the shoulder straps as long as they will go.

It's tied with the Betsey Johnson Eyelet Lace demi (also 30DD) for my ideal bra. I like that it's smooth satin (the Betsey is mesh), and that it's a plunge.

It has padded cups (no push-up pads) with 1 vertical seam on the inside, and pretty sheer mesh with 2 smooth vertical seams on the outside. I would definitely recommend trying this if you have shallow boobs and are looking for a plunge bra. I think it could work as a T-shirt bra, due to the light padding, as long as your shirt isn't really see-through.

This bra is so pretty! So pretty! Wearing it makes me feel like a model, and I'm discovering that I carry some of that confidence into my day even when I'm the only one who knows about my gorgeous underwear. If only it felt comfortable enough for all day I'd be completely delighted. As it is, there are some problems.

The cups on this bra are the right shape, size, and placement for me, so that's a good start. I wish the band were a little longer and more stretchy, though. I bought this 28D knowing that I'd need to add an extender -- ... a 30C would have fit me better, but they don't make that size. With the extender the fit is okay, but I still am working on fine-tuning it so I can be comfortable all day. The straps are a little on the short side, but I can work with that. The wires are very stiff -- the whole bra feels stiff -- and I am still figuring out whether sliding them in their channels helps, or whether I can bend them a wee bit to take some pressure off my sternum. When I take the bra off there are red marks in the various too-tight places, which I'm using to guide me in where to bend.

But -- so pretty! I'll have to update you next year about how this bra holds up under washing and wear, and whether I was ever able to make it feel good for more than occasional special uses. It looks well made at the start, and I'm very hopeful.

I agree the Alice is gorgeous, so sad it doesn't work for me anymore (if it ever did, but I pretended for a little while). I definitely agree wearing pretty bras boosts your confidence. When I was bravangelizing my mom she was like "what's the point of all that frilly stuff if nobody sees it." I'm like "umm, I SEE IT!" Teehee. I'm a secret princess!

    • 1

So glad it's working out for you! Where did you get it? Alice has been on my list for a while now.

    • bluebelle2 , I bought this one from Linda the Bra Lady, on sale (http://www.lindasonline.com/panache-masquerade-alice-plunge-bra-7046-mineral-blue.html). Before this, I had bought a 28E from another Bratabase user, but wishful thinking wasn't enough to make that my size :-). I hope you can find one that works for you!

    30FF

    Didn't fit

I'm in love with this bra. My boob shape works well in plunges and this style is perfect for it. I got a 30FF, but in hindsight, a cup size up would be more suitable. The band is pretty loose on me. I've read that Masquerade bands are "tighter", but I'd argue that it is dependent on the bra and the band material moreso than on the brand as a whole. This band has quite a bit of stretch to it and it has to do with the stretch satin material used.

The shape is round and forward. Unlike in my 28GG - Masquerade » Amira (6556), there is no east-west pulling in this style. The lace is pretty and doesn't itch my sensitive skin. I wish for more bras in this style!

    • This bra looks fantastic on you. Are you saying you'd prefer a cup size up because your boobs are touching so much in the 30FF? The profile shape is much rounder on you than it was when I tried this bra. I'm guessing the profile isn't what you'd like to be different.

    • 1

Ahh thanks! I really do love this bra and would wear it on a date because it's a lot sexier than a beige Deco and also less bulky :P The reason I'd want a bigger cup has more to do with center coverage. It being a deep and open plunge, when I bend forward, all my bits come falling out and indecency ensues.

    • Gemmy, I understand now. Falling out of a bra is inconvenient. You didn't mention this happening in your Freya Deco reviews, in any of the sizes you tried. Does the Deco manage to prevent falling out when you bend foward?

    • Yes, you're absolutely right. Falling out if a Deco is never a concern for me because the gore is definitely higher on even the smallest cup volume I tried, a 28G. But the cut of the Alice is more appropriate for more open neckline, and not just plunge necklines.

    • I had never thought the Freya Deco would be able to contain tissue at the center gore when the Masquerade Alice could not. Very interesting data point, especially because this comparison isn't readily quantifiable. Thanks!

    • learningaboutbras You're welcome! I always appreciate being able to see and learning how different breast shapes look in the same bra. Learning about other shapes ultimately helps in understanding one's own :)

I have a wide root and shallow boobs. I do need flat cups but not extraordinary wide wires. I almost don't have any volume on top.

The graphite coloured one runs about one cup size larger then the mineral blue one. While I tried a mineral blue one in 30D which fitted properly I had to size down for the graphite one.
The band appears to be true to size. Since it is quite low the center gore sometimes hurts me.

    30E

    Didn't fit

One of my first purchases in the adventures of buying a well-fitting bra, and I clearly had no idea of my shape or requirements.

I bought this one because I wanted a plunge (to accommodate close-set breasts) and the reviews indicated this one worked for wide-rooted, shallow breasts. Which I thought I was.

At first I ordered the 32E because I'd read that masquerade bands ran very firm*, but the band was too loose and the cups seemed at least two sizes large, so I exchanged for a 30E. Should've ordered the 30F.

The top edge of the cup is quite loose or open, so even though this ... is clearly a cup size too small for me, I don't get any cutting in, so the bra is still perfectly wearable.

Cups definitely run a full size large in this bra, as my size is 30FF in pretty much every other bra I own.

*More correctly, they don't have a lot of give in them, and so don't really stretch out. If you normally wear stretchy bands, you might want to size up in masquerade; otherwise, my advice would be to stick with your normal band size.

The bra is absolutely gorgeous, however, I've found that the centre gore does dig in slightly. The cups were slightly too big on me (although for some reason it fit my smaller breast but was too big for my larger one) It's a fab bra, and I got it at a great price

I think that this bra is a major shape mismatch. I have worn bras with similar cup width and depth and been mostly okay in them, but this one was a massive flop.

I had lots of quadboob. The cups were too shallow and too wide-set, and the curve of the wires was too extreme. I need a gentler, shallower curve to the wire, a more projected cup, and a much narrower gore, the cups need to touch if possible.

I would prefer a wider strap, as well, these were a bit too narrow/unpadded for my taste, but that is more of a preference than a requirement.

The uncoated metal hooks & eyes were lovely! I like the look, and I think it'd stay nice looking much longer than painted hooks.

Listing it riiiiight away. I really wish it had worked :/ it's GORGEOUS.

  10. First, this bra is gorgeous. I love the colour, the lace, the satin band and straps. Alice looks very discreet but if you take a close look, you can appreciate it's "cold" beautyhttps://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

I first tried my usual 30e, but it was a real disaster. The cups were far too big, too high on the sides it cut into the armpit, the underwires to wide (about 2cm). The top of the cups was empty. I decided to go down one cup size even though I wasn't sure if this style could work for me. Happily, 30dd fits perfectly. The underwires are much narrower, ... the cups lower on the sides. Alice gives a very rounded shape and quite a nice cleavage on my separate boobs.

There are two little inconvenients though : the first one is straps width, only 1.2 cm in my size, and they're not very stretchy. The second one is the satine band. Even though it's firm, it tends to ride up and wrinkle, it's not stable on my back. I would prefer the band a littler bit largerhttps://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
