My shape: slightly shallow teardrop/FOB with super wide/tall roots and very close-set tissue in the middle.
This review is for the purple orchid colorway.
This is a beautiful bra, and probably the closest I will ever get to a full-coverage dealy. It's super comfortable, and since I got it to be full-coverage (i.e. worn under tops where it wouldn't show anyway), I went ahead and got the bright purple, which is gorgeous, by the way. It has 3 sets of hooks!
The band is pretty stretchy and will probably relax some in the next few months, but I have noticed that Natori has stretchy bands in general, and it's ...nowhere near as bad as the Natori Hidden Glamour Full Fit Contour Bra (736044) or the Natori Feathers Contour Plunge (730023) . The cup is pretty wide, but like the rest of my Natoris, not quite wide enough for me, although I only notice it in the pictures and it's perfectly comfy when worn.
These cups are almost exactly my shape! It's nice because they don't cut in on top but they also don't gape, which is a very tricky balance to strike for me. There is a slight bit of empty space in the bottom, but the wires are so flexible they don't shift much.
Overall: Incredibly pleased with this bra, and really glad now that I caved and got it.
I got the matching shorts too, since they were on sale. Super cute, super soft, and gloriously PURPLE! Read more 142 more words
I have had luck with Natori bras in 38H recently, but this one did not fit right. The cups were at least a size too small on me, and my breasts were popping out of the top a lot. This might partially be due to an extra support band of material inside the cup, which pushed everything to the center. The center gore also bowed out away from my body moreso than it normally does on even bras that have too small of a cup. The underwire also rubs in my underarms, and this would be a problem if I wore it very long. I bought 2 colors of this style on a closeout sale online (mistake), so I couldn't return them. Fortunately my mom wears 38DDD (though I suspect she is more of a 38F-40E) and this fit her perfectly in the cups. She often has the underarm underwire problem too, and it has not been an issue for her with either one.
The cups run too small on this model, it was at least a cup size too small (possibly more). I have gotten very similar styles of Natori recently and they fit perfectly. Unfortunately this one had the same problem molded bras often do on me, it pushed too much towards the center, and caused breast tissue to pop out over the top. If I bent over, the problem became even worse. I ended up returning this one, due to this problem. For others who have problems with underwire digging into their underarms, that was not a problem for me with this bra.
I was skeptical about this bra, I used to avoid molded bras, because they would cause my breasts to pop out the top center, esp. if I bent over. This was not a problem with this bra. I could likely use a cup size bigger, as it just barely fits all of the breast tissue, but sadly they don't make a cup size up in this one. My biggest concern with bras (aside from cups fitting), is having the underwire dig into my underarms, which is not a problem at all with this one. The straps are also very comfortable and support well, despite being pretty plain standard sized ones. The only negative is that I have had the underwire (armpit end) make squeaky sounds a few times, but it happens so rarely that I haven't noticed a reason for it.
My shape: projected teardrop with lots of shallow-boob fit problems like Orange-in-a-Glass because of my super-tall (within a finger's width of my collarbone) and super-wide (almost to my shoulder blades) roots that almost touch on my sternum, but with more immediate projection underneath, and very firm tissue that fights back when smooshed.
This review is for the black colorway.
This is possibly the softest bra I have ever felt. It's so lovely to touch, I just wanted to pet it instead of putting it on! Sadly, the effect was kind of ruined by the obnoxious tag scratching a welt onto my back, but that could be cut out or might ...even be made better after the first wash. Otherwise, it was super comfortable, with a very narrow center gore (great for me!) and straps that were a little wide-set but not falling off my shoulders or digging into my armpits like some I have tried. The straps ARE narrow, though, and while that is fine for me, it might not be for others, especially larger boobed ladies.
I have to keep reminding myself that Natori bands are stretchy, and that I don't know exactly what that means for my real size because prior to this bra I've been fudging with 32s on the tightest hooks. This one was a little odd, with some visual bulging around the sides that might be noticeable under a clingy top, but nothing uncomfortable. I'm not sure if that indicates that it's too tight or still too loose. Unfortunately, as lovely as this bra was in the comfy gore and cups (which didn't quad on me! Hooray!), it rides down, which either supports the too loose theory or the too tight one (trying to find a smaller circumference), and again, I'm not sure which it is. Either way, the underwires ended up more than a finger's width below the base of my breasts, which is way more scooching than I've had even in the other Natoris that were 32s. It also means that, while comfy, the wires weren't really supporting at all and were, dare I say, too wide??
Overall, I think this is a great bra, and I am stoked that Natori has expanded into some "non-standard" sizes. I'm going to give it a trial run of about an hour on the tightest hooks to see if there's any difference because I do want it to work, but otherwise it will have to go back to the store. I don't think the riding down has anything to do with how loose or tight the band. This is just a very shallow bra and the bottoms of the cups are too shallow for you.
Thanks for sharing! I have a similar shape and a hard time finding bras. Wide and tall roots, immediat projection, horizontal oval shaped breasts, and mine are close set. I am still trying to figure out if I am projected and soft/firm tissue as well as what bras will fit. I will follow your posts!!
lcl0706 True. I do have a Curvy Kate plunge bra that is too shallow, but it works because the band (a 28) is tight enough to keep everything anchored, so I guess that is the exception.
Denise5 If you can still find them, discontinued Fauve half-cups were magical for me. Supposedly Freya and Fantasie half-cups fit similarly (they are owned by the same parent company, after all), but I haven't managed to have disposable income when any are on sale yet.
Thanks for the tip!
You are correct! I just got a Freya Deco Halfcup in the mail today and it fits perfectly!! Finally!!! Thanks for your help!! Yes, I am waiting for more disposible income too to buy Fauve or now more Freya halfcup bras too!

Edit: I originally said this bra was not molded, but it turns out that "molded" actually is the technically correct term. It is not molded in the traditional, foam cup sense that I usually think of when I hear the word; instead, it is made of a stretchy fabric that is seamless and pre-shaped like a bra cup. See comments below.
This runs HUGE for a 34DD. The cups are just about perfect for me, and I measure around 30GG. Unfortunately, though, at a stretched band length of 34 inches, the band is much too loose for me to provide adequate support for exercise. I think it could ...work well for someone around 34FF. The fabric is very stretchy, so if the width is right it might even work on a wide variety of sizes and levels of projection.
I put ~.9 inches for the strap width, but the strap width actually increases gradually as it reaches to the shoulders, which I think is meant to provide extra support.
If I can successfully alter the band, I might just keep this bra and not have to spend $70 on a new sports bra. Edit: I shortened the band, and it feels great! The gore is floating a little bit at the top, so technically I guess it doesn't really "fit," but I think it's going to be good enough.
Edit May 1, 2016: I have lost a lot of weight and am now wearing 28F. I still wear this bra and prefer it over the Panache Sport by far. The gore now tacks, and even though the wires are much too wide, I don't feel them at all. This is a very forgiving, versatile bra, and I would definitely buy another in 32DDD so I don't have to alter the band as much. Read more 195 more words
Molded does not refer to the cup material, it only means that the cups have been shaped by a molding process instead of using seams. Molded does not mean that the cups are necessarily foam or spacer material--they can also just be a single or double layer of fabric.
Oh, interesting, I didn't know that. Guess I should remove that from the review then so I don't confuse anyone.
No I think it's helpful because a lot of people are confused by the terminology. "Seamless" is a more usual descriptor for this type of cup so other posters could easily make the same assumption as you.

This colorway is the hot pink with bright yellow/green trim. Cute for a sports bra. Wayyyyy too shallow for me so sizing up in the cup (even if they made a larger one) wouldn't solve it. The underwire isn't anywhere near my boobs and the girls are squished together under the gore. All that being said, it's pretty comfy and controls movement pretty well. The 34ff panache is a surprisingly good fit by comparison. The bands on both are very firm so I took a 34 instead of a 32 which is more typical for me. The bottom of the band folds up but isn't uncomfortable. If it wasn't so far down my chest (consequence of the too-shallow cups) it probably wouldn't happen. I appreciate the almost infinite adjustability of the straps and the 4-hook band.
I bought this bra in both 32DD and 32DDD, and both seem to fit pretty well. I'm almost, but not quite, quadding in the DD, and not quite filling out the DDD, so I guess I'll wait and see how the migration goes. Not really a fan of the lacy band, but I really love the shape this bra gives me. The wires are wide and comfortable, and the super low gore is wonderful.
ETA: After a few wears, I'm beginning to think this may be a tad too shallow for me. I'm getting a tiny bit of wrinkling at the bottom of the cup and it's riding down a bit, so that the wires aren't truly in my IMF. Hrm.
This is a very comfortable everyday kind of bra. Not fancy looking at all. The cup fabric and the strap fabric are both very smooth and not the slightest bit itchy. The band is very stretchy. It is my first "bra that fits" level of acceptable comfort, at least trying it on. I have not yet worn it all day at work, hoping for a good first outing.
Bratabase told me this bra would fit with "complete assurance" .. I was skeptical .. but it fits!! I'm so happy.
I bought it used but the band is still nice and tight. It's super comfy and cute. I finally see why everyone loves Natori Feathers! Why didn't I get one sooner?
The legendary Natori Feathers...I finally went to Nordstrom to try my usual 30D, but the 32D is definitely the right size for me in this bra -- it's just the wrong shape and cut for me entirely. I wonder if there's a similar bra that isn't quite so shallow? I love the way it's made, with the stretchy mesh and lace overlaying the cups; it does wonderful things for fit, no gapping at all ever! Sigh. And so comfortable, such lovely details, but I feel like it makes my nipples point out toward opposite sides of the room and smooshes my boobs back under my armpits. Apparently I'm not as shallow-shaped as I thought. The never-ending bra journey....continues!
Comfortable. My sensitive skin approves of the lace. My prominent nipples are concealed. This bra actually makes cleavage for me which I had almost decided was impossible. Comfortable and lovely, but it is the wrong shape for my projected, narrow breasts. It is so comfortable, I find myself longing for it in a modified design....Natori, I hope you are reading.
This bra is unfortunately not for me. The top edge cuts in too sharply for my tall roots giving me quadboob and the cup itself is too projected for my shallow shape. The underwire does not sit in my IMF and causes wrinkling at the bottom of the cup which is a real shame because I love my Natori Feathers and had high hopes for this one.
The bra is plain but seems well constructed. I think it would be an excellent fit for someone more full on the bottom with narrower roots.
What can I say?! I LOVE this bra!!! I first tried a pre-owned Natori Feathers in nude that I bought from another fellow BTB user https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> It was shown lots of love, and rightfully so https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> But the band was rather stretched out and as much as I loved it, I had to part with it as the band was just too loose for me. So I decided to buy one brand new for myself, in the White...so pretty!! And what a difference!
There's just something about the simplicity of this bra that makes me fall in ...love with it! No padding, no push-up...just lightly lined and simple. I love the plunge style, which is oddly enough pretty difficult to find in a bra that isn't padded, a push-up or completely unlined! I think that's what makes this bra somewhat unique and special. So simple, but sexy at the same time. It's not a perfect, "proper" fit, but pretty dang close. The only issue, for me, is the band (as always). I can make do with the 32, but with a 27" underbust, it's def a bit loose. Surprisingly, tho, it's not too bad, esp since this is brand new and "unstretched" out bra. It's pretty snug and tight, for now https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> Lol. But everything else fits perfectly. The gore doesn't tack as properly as I guess it should, but it works for me. The width of the cup seems wider than what I would normally do, but it still works. The wires don't dig in or come out too far around my back. They seem perfect. The depth of the cup is just right! No quad boob, no gaping...just right. The straps aren't falling off my shoulders and I like that they're placed farther inward on the back of the band (always seems to make for a more supportive, stable fit for me). I LOVE the shape this bra gives under clothes, and it's a super comfy fit!!! I wanna buy the Feathers in many different colors, and try lots of other styles by Natori!!!
I highly recommend this bra if you're looking for a simple, no push-up padding or cookies bra that can be worn everyday and still provide excellent support and shape without sacrificing comfort!! And I like the White MUCH better than the nude/beige. SO SO pretty!!! Read more 299 more words
I bought two of these in 30c. The shoulder strap on one broke the first time I attempted to wear the bra. This made me nervous about the construction. Plus this size feels very tight, so likelihood of it snapping under pressure is high. That said it was comfortable in the gore which is hard to find for my bony chest.
Some other cons: -I felt like the sides were sitting right at or on the very edge of the sides of my breasts. -The deal breaker though is that when I went home and scooped the top seam cuts across the top of my chest, creating quad boob. ... -Flagging that the straps are super thin and have the tendency to roll off my shoulders if I shrug my shoulders or raise my arms. This may be because I'm on the last hook so the straps are pushed further out, but I'd rather have normal width straps.
I'm becoming disappointed in the bra fitters at my local Nordstrom. This fitter was in there with me yet brushed off my concerns about side boob and quad boob, even taking her finger to smooth my my quad boob back in. I know you're probably wondering why I bought the bras then. I admit I get excited when the band and gore fit, so got carried away despite observing fit issues. I thought the fitter should know how to fit the bra properly too but realize now that's not necessarily true. When I returned the bra today a different fitter also disregarded quad boob in some other styles that I tried. I did try in the 30d in this style and the cups are too large: I didn't fill out the cups and still had cutting in at the top. So I think this style is not for me but I'll be on the look out for a similar gore style. Read more 211 more words
I saw that you found the Natori Feathers in 30DD to fit you. It may be the case that you need 30DD or 30D but in styles with very broad wires and very tall cups. You may want to try b.tempt'd and Betsey Johnson.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah I'm thrilled with the fit of the Feathers. What do you mean by tall cups? Why would I want that? I actually tried the Betsy Johnson Forever Perfect Demi underwire on lady night in a 30d, but it felt a little shallow, resulting in a slight quad boob. I didn't try the DD as they were closing but I suspect it will be too big. As DDs seem to scale quite a bit bigger on me.
Since the 30C was too small in this bra and I was quadding out of it, I got the 30D. The 30D has its own issues. While I like the tallness of the cups, the cups were too broad and too close together spaced for my far apart spaced breasts. What I really want is a bra with the wire breadth of the 30C and the projection of the 30D, and with cups that are further apart. I got empty fabric on the inner sides of the cups, which is a common problem for people who are wearing too broad cupped bras and have far apart spaced breasts.
Don't mind me, just trying to collect Feathers in every colour over here.
The band runs tight and is stretchy. It works for true 28s and would still be comfortable for true 30s. It has soft, flexible, lined cups that conform to my boobs without gapping or cutting in and are ideal for shallow or full on top shapes as well as close set boobs that don't play nice with high wires at the centre gore. (And yes, I just plagiarized myself but in my defense, the fit is pretty consistent.)
The white colourway is (for now) truly white, not ivory. Hopefully I can keep it that way. I love the look of the lace trim peeking out under low necklines and will try to work this bra into every outfit I wear it with. If you're looking for something to disappear under clothes, I suggest trying one of the two nude options it comes in.
This bra is super comfortable - I hesitate to say "excellent" comfort because I haven't had a bra that fits me well before - so I'm not sure what it's supposed to feel like.
I love that the band is super stretchy - I don't like being squeezed, and the cups are very comfortable. I do notice that the lace overlay wrinkles a bit on the right side - see photo - but other than that it seems fine, and it doesn't seem to show underneath my clothes. Even though the lace wrinkles on the right side a bit, I fill out the bottom of the cups well. (I get wrinkling on the other cup - left cup with the Betsey Johnson Intimates Stocking Stripe Lightly Lined Demi Bra (723803) which I'll post picture of/review soon.
The top of the gore sits against my sternum comfortably, but the lace at the bottom doesn't - does that mean that this doesn't fit me correctly? Or perhaps it's because I'm very small? Help help me, please!
You need to post a request under Fitting Help so people can see the photos and your measurements and so on. The way it's posted right now (bra review/Adventure) means we only see the text, no photos or anything, so we can't give feedback on the fit.
thanks! Can I post direct under Fit Help? I didn't see a link so I reviewed first
This bra was actually a pretty good fit for me, but it's the wrong shape. Definitely cut for more projected breasts, the bra gave me a pointy shape and cut in a little too close on top. Not a good bra for those in the shallow spectrum! This is an unlined bra - the cups are made of a beautiful white lace backed with a layer of beige fabric. The wings are made out of a white, satin-like fabric and are also lined with beige. The cups are made with a stretch lace, so I think the fit could be pretty forgiving.
I felt so happy to find a 32H in an actual store, and a discount store no less (Marshalls). Plus, it is an unlined, white/nude lace bra (Score!) which is great for work wear. It's a shallower bra, like all the Natoris I've tried, but the stretch lace cups allow me to project sufficiently. This bra has a utilitarian 3-hook band and a nipple hiding slanted horizontal seam. It would be a great bra for anyone with a particularly short or tall root because of its Demi-style cup height, coupled with the stretchy cup. It would also be good for ladies with flatter-bottomed roots because it's a shallow U shape. I usually take a 32DDD or 32G in American sizing, so this runs an entire cup small; size up accordingly. It's also somewhat minimizing in how it fits me, which is good for work. The seam shows under tshirts.
I don't think the riding down has anything to do with how loose or tight the band. This is just a very shallow bra and the bottoms of the cups are too shallow for you.
