Hallelujah, I've found my holy grail everyday wear bra!!! Thank you sooo much reddit and bratabase - I'm forever indebted to you!!! I have shallow, FOB, wide-set breasts and for years wore 34B bras. Then I got fitted at Victoria's Secret and life improved when I started wearing 32C, but even so, I still had that horrible gaping problem often enough that I started researching online and discovered that I'm actually a 30C/30D!!! I got fitted in a wonderful boutique lingerie store where the sales associate suggested that I try the Natori Feathers bra, and I couldn't believe that a plunge bra with such light padding gave me SO ...MUCH cleavage and it didn't gape at all!! The 30C fit ok, but gave me slight quadboob after it settled from scooping/swooping. The 30D fits better, but when my body is in certain positions, it does accentuate my armpit fat (I'm not sure what's the proper term for that) a bit with the first few wears. Regardless, I'll gladly accept that problem since it stretches out over time and because everything else about this bra is amazing!! I bought a few of them for super cheap on eBay and they are the bras I wear the most. I just wish that there was a push-up strapless version of this bra so I could wear with my low-cut/strapless outfits. The only other problem is finding my right size in other brands since I have been using this as my benchmark and it tends to run a bit small. I've been dying to get a freya moulded cup bra, and I've been debating whether to try 28DD or 28D. Any advice is gladly welcome! Read more 172 more words
I don't recommend Freya bras. If VS and Natori fit your shape, go with Aerie, b.tempt'd, Betsey Johnson, and Thirdlove in 30D.
Maybe the b.tempt'd b.wow'd bra would be good - it has lots of padding and convertible straps. Not sure about strapless bras though
It's not. In fact it's the one I would not recommend out of all the b.tempt'd styles. It's not great for FOB types. If you're sure of your FOB shape go for the Aerie Blakely, Bridget, and Hannah. Thirdlove Plunge Perfect is also a good one.
^Thirdlove's Plunge Perfect is supposed to be a Natori Feathers clone I think. They're discontinuing it though. The last few sizes are on sale on Thirdlove's website.
This s the best one I've tried so far. I'm a little concerned that it's denting in to my side on the armpit, but it's the least-worst at this. The gore feels better. Cups are nice and soft. My saggier right breast has a tiny bit of space at the top, but not as dramatic as many others I've tried.
Ah, the Natori Feathers. Wide and shallow, they said, and wide and shallow it was. This bra is soooo wide. There's like, a full inch between the wire and my IMF. I don't particularly mind wide wires actually, and these are quite comfy and feel secure, but the cups being all the way out there makes boob-in-cup placement a tad difficult. This problem is only exacerbated by the fact that horizontal apexes of the cups are really far apart (even though the gore isn't particularly wide). The bra's shallowness in terms of immediate projection and at the apex aren't problematic, but what is a problem is how much ...it cuts in in the center - I don't consider myself to have a lot of center fullness, just close together boobs, and the Feathers does nothing to contain them. My breasts are firm enough that spilling isn't an issue, but, the quadding bothers me, even though you can't see it in pictures.(Edit: the underwires float near the gore, which I suppose is due to the shallowness. auuhgh.)
I do appreciate that the sides of the cups (not the wings) come up really high because I don't mind my armpit running into the bra once in a while in return for the bra not sliding back and forth over my ToS & neighboring tissue.
Well, aesthetics. I'm really fan of this look, so it's a shame it doesn't fit me that well. The feathery part is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the way it runs along the band. That being said, the band feels really delicate when I put it on, so I might appreciate a bit more heft in that department. The hardware is gold (colored), very pretty.
What an odd bra. I like the soft fabric a lot. It just flattens me out in such a weird way, I really don't like how it looks from the side and angle. I think the wires are just too wide and go too far back around the sides. Maybe if they were more curved it would be better. The top digs in after major swoop and scoop and gives some quad boob, didn't get a picture. Definitely returning this one.
Shallow & Projected. I'm not good enough to tell which you are or what's wrong with this bra by looking but if it flattens you you're probably a little more projected than the cup. Natori if I'm not mistaken is for those with more shallow breasts and has really wide wires.
That's what I thought, I'm still figuring out my shape and I was curious to try a shallower cup, too shallow for me
The Natori Statement seems to be a new style, and I couldn't find much information on it before deciding to order it. I had had my eye on it for a long time as I usually love this 3 piece cup construction with side sling, but had no idea how it would fit. The good news is that the fit is spot on and is literally the only Natori bra I've tried that fits true to size. The bad news is that I had to mark this as "doesn't fit" because the sides come up so high under the arms that it's really uncomfortable. ...It is probably also the only Natori bra that has been too painful for me to wear!
The bra is made from gorgeous, soft lace that is a little fancier than Natori's more utilitarian styles, while the band is made from powerful microfiber and actually provides support. If you've read any of my other Natori reviews, you will know that my top complaints regarding Natori bras are the flimsy bands and the shallow cups. This bra is the exception! The styling is really pretty and great for everyday. I really wish this bra had fit me, however . . .
If you take a look at the measurements, you'll find that the underwires on this bra are MASSIVE. A standard 30D in my collection has an underwire around 19-20 cm, while this one comes in at 23.5 cm. That's almost an extra 1.5" of wire, and most of this is under the arms. The cups are nice and wide, which is great for me, but the wires are way too long under the arms. Combined with the extra tall sides, I can't move my arms in this bra without discomfort. There's no way to size down in this bra though, as 30D is the smallest size of the range, and the cups are already pretty shallow on me and fit snugly. The lace cups are lined with mesh, so they can't stretch to accommodate more projection.
Once again, another style from this brand that didn't work for me. In this case though, I have a hard time imagining who this bra would fit, as the cups are shallow but the wires are very tall and deep. Perhaps someone who is taller than me would not find the long wires and tall sides as uncomfortable as me, since I am petite and often do run into the long wire issue. If you can fit this bra, I think it is a beautiful lace option for everyday, and is certainly the most supportive Natori design I've come across. Read more 346 more words
I tried this in 30D because 30C was just a bit too shallow for me. The cup is overall too big in this size, but it is still just the smallest bit too shallow, despite all the gaps I have inside the cup and the wrinkling mesh I get at the top. 30C is a much better fit for me, but not quite the right shape I'm afraid.
Feathers is ideal for very broad and shallow breasts.
As a note, the lace detailing on this nude 30D is very different from the graphite 30C. So, the style does vary.
I wouldn't say this too large, more like too freaking tall. So common in plunge bras, unfortunately.
lcl0706 Well, the wires are also too wide and I don't fill out the bottom half of the cups as much as I would like, either. But yes, definitely too tall, especially for my very very shallow tops.
Definitely too shallow for you, I think, as it was for me! Shame, as it is a pretty and comfortable bra ,and I tried hard to love it on me, but I had to give up on it in the end.
thanks for this review! It's very helpful. I need to try on this one again - last year I tried it on and it fit me nearly perfectly. I had just a little mesh wrinkle on my smaller side, but I remember it being luxuriously comfy. I think that this is my only for sure fit. I hope it still fits a year later!
With this review in mind - I wonder if I am just too shallow for the Maddie but not enough FoB to fill it? sigh. onward!
alexad I tried really hard with the 30C too, because it's just so pretty, and more comfortable than most bras. I loved it, but I couldn't justify keeping it for seventy bucks USD if the fit wasn't perfect and I was so on the fence. *sigh* Oh well.
Codetry It's definitely possible you are too shallow for Maddie. And if so, I definitely think the Feathers would fit you. I'd try it again -- both Amazon and Nordstrom have them with free shipping and free returns. :) And with Nordstrom, you can return them in-store to any location.
Thanks, river_wilde ! I finally got a chance to try it on today! I am just slightly bigger than I was last year. I have the smallest bit of quad-ing in the 30D. But I think it's so slight that I should just get it. It's so comfy - I love it! I also tried on a calvin klein perfectly fit push-up in 30C. It was way too small - but was seriously heavenly comfy!! I am going to look for it in a 30D. Tried both on at Nordstroms - they have a huge sale right now!
This bra is unfortunately not for me. The top edge cuts in too sharply for my tall roots giving me quadboob and the cup itself is too projected for my shallow shape. The underwire does not sit in my IMF and causes wrinkling at the bottom of the cup which is a real shame because I love my Natori Feathers and had high hopes for this one.
The bra is plain but seems well constructed. I think it would be an excellent fit for someone more full on the bottom with narrower roots.
Since the 30C was too small in this bra and I was quadding out of it, I got the 30D. The 30D has its own issues. While I like the tallness of the cups, the cups were too broad and too close together spaced for my far apart spaced breasts. What I really want is a bra with the wire breadth of the 30C and the projection of the 30D, and with cups that are further apart. I got empty fabric on the inner sides of the cups, which is a common problem for people who are wearing too broad cupped bras and have far apart spaced breasts.
This bra is super comfortable - I hesitate to say "excellent" comfort because I haven't had a bra that fits me well before - so I'm not sure what it's supposed to feel like.
I love that the band is super stretchy - I don't like being squeezed, and the cups are very comfortable. I do notice that the lace overlay wrinkles a bit on the right side - see photo - but other than that it seems fine, and it doesn't seem to show underneath my clothes. Even though the lace wrinkles on the right side a bit, I fill out the bottom of the cups well. (I get wrinkling on the other cup - left cup with the Betsey Johnson Intimates Stocking Stripe Lightly Lined Demi Bra (723803) which I'll post picture of/review soon.
The top of the gore sits against my sternum comfortably, but the lace at the bottom doesn't - does that mean that this doesn't fit me correctly? Or perhaps it's because I'm very small? Help help me, please!
You need to post a request under Fitting Help so people can see the photos and your measurements and so on. The way it's posted right now (bra review/Adventure) means we only see the text, no photos or anything, so we can't give feedback on the fit.
thanks! Can I post direct under Fit Help? I didn't see a link so I reviewed first
Good fit for my wide, shallow breasts. Underwire does poke a tiny bit at gore and underarm but by slightly bending the wires (which I usually do to all of my bras anyway) it fits wonderfully.
I fill out this bra well, and the band at 30 runs small enough for me to use the middle set of hooks despite fitting into a 28. The plunge on this gives me fantastic cleavage. I prefer demi or otherwise half cups, but these can get too low for me when my breasts are at their biggest and I have to adjust the mesh outer portion to cover myself a little higher. The inner portion of the cups stays just covering my nipple. On smaller days, it fits better. Despite apparently being slightly too large for these cups (I think they may run a tish small), they do ...not cut in at the top edges because the fabric making the cups is very stretchy and the lace softens the edge. The lace is very pretty and makes my breasts look very nice, but it does show through on thinner shirts. The bra as a whole is very lightweight and good for use in the summer time, which makes it a bummer that it shows through sometimes. I save it for my polo shirts and wear it often. I've had it for a few months now and it hasn't show any signs of wear. Read more 96 more words
I got this bra at Nordstrom in my early experimentation with moving from 34A's and 32B's to 30D's. It was uncomfortable and I returned it before measuring or taking photos. I'm not sure what the issue was, but have since tried on a 30DD in the same bra and that seemed to work better (though not well enough to bring home), so I think the 30D was a little too small in the cup. The small bit of lace trim on the cup did not bother me, though I am generally very sensitive to lace and trim on bras.
Natori bands are supposed to run small, and I did agree the band felt tighter than other 30's I have tried.
I'm very center full with narrow roots. I'm more full on bottom, but generally need non-shallow bras that are more open on top to accommodate my center fullness.
This bra fits okay. The cups are too wide, but that's basically every bra. Because it's partial foam cups under stretch lace, the fit is very forgiving and doesn't cut in at the center at all. My nipples do want to escape out the top of the little foam piece, but I just need to adjust the bra a little after putting it on and then it's not an issue.
I quite liked this bra at first, but discovered more issues ...after wearing it a few times. First, the band is quite tight, and the center gore was painful on my sternum after a few hours of wear. An extender fixed this issue. Second, the cups are either too shallow. I didn't realize at first, but after a few hours of wear the wire was pushed down and out of my IMF. Not entirely sure if the center gore issues are because of the band being too snug, or the cups too shallow. If I hook the straps into a racerback shape, they don't adjust long enough and are also painful where they dig into my collarbones. Read more 106 more words
It's unfortunate that this bra just isn't a great fit for me, because it's so comfy! The band is quite stretchy, and a little big to begin with. Which is great for comfort, but the gore doesn't quite tack. The wires are too wide (as usual), giving me wrinkles at the bottom outside of the cups. It's also too shallow, so the fabric gets pushed/bunches up at the wire even more. The stretch lace is very forgiving though, because it isn't cutting in and giving me quadboob above the gore like other shallow bras often do. It looks really nice from the front, but I do get kind of a pointy triangle boob shape from the side. All in all, not going to keep this bra. It's super comfy and if I hadn't already spent so much money on okay fits, I probably would. But right now, the price isn't enough for me to justify keeping another bra that is only okay. I do also worry about longevity with how soft and stretchy the lace is.
I had high hopes for this Natori Ruse ultralight convertible bra as a jill-of-all-trades to go with summer tops of all varieties of straps and necklines, but I had a pivotal moment whereby I decided going braless in the heat suited me better. As a result, this is new without tags. Washed carefullly and line dried, but never worn. Size 30D, color Café.
Great bra and a great fit, but I find I prefer the Natori Flora cup profile better as the lace lays flatter and works better with the slim-fitting silk tops I frequent to work. Didn't get much wear out of this, but I took great care of it. Hoping it finds a new owner to love it!
A very nice balance of comfortable and pretty. Comfortable fabrics. I don't think the lace texture shows through clothing. I like that the lace overlay extends past the cup and helps contain everything and disguise size differences between breasts. The band is quite stretchy so not good for me because I am looking for 28 bands but fudging it with some 30s. Fairly shallow
Tried the ever-famous Feathers, but I don't think it works for me. The 30 band feels very tight. The biggest issue is the gaping on my right. The left feels pretty good, aside from tightness.
The underwire on this is not comfortable for me. I'm not sure if it's from being too high or some other fit issue. The cups are lovely soft and otherwise fit. The straps are too far apart again, rolling over in the fold by my underarm.
I don't recommend Freya bras. If VS and Natori fit your shape, go with Aerie, b.tempt'd, Betsey Johnson, and Thirdlove in 30D.
