I tried this on knowing it probably wouldn't fit. It's a 30D, and I'd need at least a 30DD. It's a cute bra. And for the price I paid, I wish I found my size. The straps seem kind of wide. There was some quad boob at the top, but some space at the bottom. I don't know if a bigger size would have made it fit better.
My shape: slightly shallow teardrop/FOB with super wide/tall roots and very close-set tissue in the middle
This review is for the darker Nude colorway.
I won this bra as part of an underwear set in a blog contest and was thrilled because it was the first bra I was going to get that fit me properly. Well, after I exchanged it for the right size, because as it turns out, it didn't actually run small in the band OR the cups... but now I can't say enough nice things about the customer service at Affinitas, who were super helpful, very accommodating, and fast! Nicest people ever.
Ok, back to the bra: ...The nude color is not actually nude on someone as pale as I am (or really anyone who hasn't been tanning for a few months...), but that isn't really noticeable under clothes. On the other hand, it's very pretty for a t-shirt bra. I only wish I could have gotten another one in the blue colorway when it was still available.
The cups are very stiff. This is good for a lot of people, and fine for me most of the time, although they do gap a little when I let my shoulders fall forward. They give a lovely rounded shape, though, and it's like wearing boob armor.
My only issues with this bra are the wires, which are too narrow for me, and the angle the cups are cut in on the outer top edge. The straps are rather far apart, so this probably is part of the issue, but it really is the shape of the cup. It cuts into the soft tissue around my underarm and shoulder if I don't keep my shoulders pulled back in perfect posture all the time. I mean, it's great motivation to stand up straight, but it still hurts after a little while. I am hoping this will resolve itself at least a little after another wash or two.
All in all, a great bra. I am really glad I own it, and the strap thing won't stop me from wearing it as much as I can.
6 month Update: This bra actually shows through a lot of my thinner shirts now, for more reasons than just the dark color: the top of the cups has curled out and now there is an inescapable ridge that can only be hidden by decoration or a neckline, or perhaps a thick woven fabric. On the plus side, it no longer cuts in under my arms as much, and it is still as armor-y as ever. It also doesn't appear to have stretched at all, but I have lost some weight or gained some muscle or something and now it is pretty obviously too loose on me. I'd sell it because it's still in great shape, but I don't think anyone would want it because of the ridge on the cups. Le sigh. Read more 374 more words
I'm so torn with this bra! It's so comfy, and it's a plunge that actually fit my average projection - and I didn't have to go up a cup size. My only problem is that I don't have enough center fullness, therefore, the cups gap slightly in the middle. The gore is AWESOME. I need short gores and this is genius - the gore ends, but there is still the gore "tunnel" (for lack of a better word) but it's just thick fabric, so it's flexible, unlike a regular gore. I'm thinking about keeping this one as it's molded and actually fits my projection and it gives me a lined, rounded look. This bra has more projection that the Moulded Deco. I had a 30E in that and my breasts constantly pushed it down because it didn't allow for my projection.
Edit: Wore it...and it's too shallow. However, it would probably do OK for a temporary molded bra https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
It sounds like you should keep it. You want a smooth, molded bra, and this one stays in your inframammary fold. No one will see the slight gaping at the center gore. I need low gores, too, and I love my 30E Parfait by Affinitas Casey for that reason and the smooth cup. My beige one used to gap slightly at the gore, but no longer. I think wearing plunges exclusively for a year or so caused even more tissue migration toward the center gore area. I had thought I was done with tissue migration after the first year and a half of properly fitted bras. Now I have even more fullness in the center gore area. Formerly my breasts were very full toward the sides under the arms.
I've never tried the Jeanie, but if it's like the Casey in projection, you are correct about it accommodating more projection. I wear 30FF in Freya half cups and in Cleo Marcie.
Thanks for recommending I keep it. I tried it on once more and I've decided it IS a keeper!! I have the Casey coming tomorrow, so I'm excited try it out after a win with the Jeanie!
What color Casey did you get? I just got another Casey in the Fuchsia Rose color. It is beautiful. I got it from miodestino.com. They have an Amazon store, but it ended up being cheaper through their own site, after a coupon I found at retailmenot.com.
Tried it on through Amazon, but found the nude on Ebay for $19.99! Score! I'll have to check those sites...I have a feeling I will want a few of these bras.
This is the beige colour. I meant to buy 30F but it turned out to be 30G (for some reason it appeared both 30F and 30G in Bratabase, that was odd) . My usual size is 28F-28FF´ish. This bra fits well otherwise but the cups are too big. But not excessively big, I think one sup size down and it would be perfect! The band is quite snug, it fits me well in the loosest hooks. My comfortably tight underbust is 26 inches.
Might I say that this bra is seriously comfortable! Wires don´t poke, and although the strap placement is too wide for me, even the straps don´t seem to scrathc me. I only wish the size was right! I will have to re-list this bra, please buy it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
This bra fits me much better than the Parfait Lola half-padded. I really love this bra! The cups are perfect for my shallow, slightly FOB, wide-rooted breasts. The band is nice and thick, compared to my other 2 prong bras, and I don't get the armpit fat with it, nor do I get any pokage on the side from the underwires like I've had happen with other bras. The straps are thick and comfortable - I do have broader shoulders. I fill out both the bottom and top of the cups nicely. The only negative is the wire does poke the sternum, but that's an easy fix and I think it's just because I do have a very projected sternum.
First of all, this bra in the blush/black colorway is GORGEOUS. The contrast is beautiful and the bow detailing is lovely. The construction is very solid, and the wide back band is extremely comfortable. Being between a FF and a G always gives me an odd fit in the cup, especially considering I'm very FOT and thus it can cause a bit of quad boob. This bra is no different, but not enough to warrant a size up in the cups. I've heard people say to size up in the band but this is not the case in my experience. The 28 band is definitely spot on for me. Overall I would absolutely recommend this bra, particularly for the comfort and striking appearance.
This bra is gorgeous! I love the color (dark blue with black lace), and the little dangly-thing at the gore is a welcome change from the usual bow. I'm really not a fan of bows and this makes me think about bellydancing. The double skinny straps in the front are a nice touch as well.
Fit-wise, holy crap this is a firm 30 band! I've been wavering between 30 and 28 bands depending on brand, and thank goodness I got a 30 in this one. It does feel pretty comfy (though slightly tight), and I'm hoping it will relax a little with wear. The gore tacks nicely without stabbing, ...and the wires are only slightly too narrow. I plan to try bending them just a tiny bit wider, but a heavy/ vigorous scoop & swoop from the armpits in seems to work just as well.
I've never tried a halfcup before, and looking at it off I'm surprised they were big enough to fit me, but they do. The padded part was a bit squished/ wrinkly from shipping, but I think it'll be ok after a while. The lace was slightly gappy at the top corners of each cup, almost like it wasn't sewn on quite straight, but maybe it's a slight shape incompatibility instead. Whatever it is, I just tacked down a tiny dart of it right next to each strap and now it lays flat, so I'm happy with it. (Disclaimer: I'm still breastfeeding and just put him down for a nap, so therefore a little empty. Cups might fit totally different in a couple hours.)
I've had it on for about 20 minutes now and everything is still comfy, so for now my verdict is: yay for another bra that seems to fit! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 192 more words
Wonderful it fit! Good luck with the bra journey during and after nursing!
Thanks learningaboutbras! :) We're slowly winding down (he's almost 2 and a half) and I'm very interested (read: concerned and wary) to see how my boobs end up...
Overall I really like this bra. It's super cute, I think the cut is very flattering and it gives a very slightly retro shape (which I like). It's also pretty comfortable; it has a full band (another plus for me), the cup width is just about perfect, and the gore doesn't poke at all.
This is a 3-part padded cup and the top section is very horizontal and kind of juts inward making the cup a bit closed on top. The cups are pretty short which is part of what makes it so cute, but with the slightly closed on top shape it gives me a bit of quadboob ...sometimes. The straps are a bit wide set but very soft and don't bother me in the armpit area at all. So far I haven't had any issues with them falling off but I've only worn it a couple times and not while being particularly active.
I usually wear a 30D but sized up to a 30DD and I'm glad I did, it runs at least a full cup small. I would even consider getting a second in a 30E. I would say that the band is fairly true to size, maybe a bit shy of a true 30; very comfortable for my ~28" UB. Read more 104 more words
I find this bra to be very similar to the 30E Parfait By Affinitas Jeanie. It's almost the perfect molded plunge for my shallow, wide rooted boobs.
The cups fit well, without the usual quadboob on top. It may be my imagination, but the shape of the Casey is not quite as good for me as the Jeanie, though they are very similar.
Sadly, just like the Jeanie, the straps too far apart. They sit in my armpits, causing the cups to gap if I bring my shoulders too far forward.
Such a cute bra! I love it. This was one I was able to try on in a store in a 30dd and a 30e.
*I think* my usual bra size is 28e/f, but this bra style only goes down to 30. Also, the band is VERY tight. If you normally wear a 30 band, I suggest going up to a 32. So, as a 28 band, I was able to wear the 30 band in this brand. This is tighter than my sole 28e bra (a Curvy Kate bra), so I am very pleased with this one's fit because I knew beforehand how Parfait sizing works! Just be ...careful ordering online! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
You may want to get one cup size up AND a band size up. The top of this bra is tight to hold you in, which I like because I'm not full on top.
I have very close-set breasts, so the center gore comes up too high and starts to poke and separate my breast tissue, which is just not good. In the center of the bra is a double bow and cameo decoration.
The straps are skinny and cute with pinstripes and lace like that on the bra cups and band. They are half-way adjustable and not what I would call stretchy (good!).
I think everything fills out right if I ignore the stabbing the gore. There is no gapping and everything lies flat where it should (besides the very top of the gore, of course) and I get some cute cleavage if I pull the bra down far and tuck everything in well.
I probably still need to push the underwire around a bit to make it comfortable for my bony ribcage, but it was comfortable for about 5 hrs until I started laying around on the couch on my laptop. So the bra is probably too tight for slouchy 'relaxation' poses but fine if you maintain an upright posture or lay flat.
Grade: B+ Would I recommend it? Yes if you have more separated breasts. Got the bra for $23 and the panty for $10. Panty also runs tight, in case you were wondering. I could've gotten away with a S instead of XS. Read more 262 more words
Well this one was cute, and looked pretty good on me and felt okay, except for the very wide straps and the gaping in the cups. Since it's padded it doesn't wrinkle, but I was getting about a half-inch gap between my breast and the bra cup when I brought my arms together or up or leaned over or pretty much generally moved around. Also since the gaping was prominent the cup line showed under shirts so it just didn't work for me.
When I first tried on this bra, the top part of the gore poked into my chest a little bit, but I bent them out a little bit and it is no longer a problem. This bra fits so well! The only little things about it that could be considered bad it that if my shoulders aren't pulled back (ie if I slump over a little bit), there is the tiniest bit of gaping on my smaller breast. Also, when I adjust the straps to fit tightly enough, they sit nearly on my collarbone. This isn't really a big deal for me though, as ...it's not uncomfortable-- I can hardly tell. The band stretches perfectly, it's not too tight nor too loose. The underwires, so far at least, do not dig into my ribs as previous bras I've had did, it sits right under my inframammary fold. My breasts are pretty self-supporting so they don't 'conform' very well to bras that are too wide or too shallow or long, and this bra holds them very well without any squeezing in the wrong places. It also gives my the very tiniest amount of cleavage!
As far as fitting under clothes, you can't see the lines under dark clothes or the line at the top of the cup. It gives a very projected shape, nice and rounded, however slightly more pointed then my Tiffany bandeau, which is possibly the roundest bra I've ever come across.
Update: After having this bra for about 3 weeks and wearing it on the first hook, I decided to try it on the second hook, and voilà! Gapping issue at the top of the cups solved. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 189 more words
I love this bra. It's so pretty, with the pink and black colourway, with the lace on the unlined upper cup. I feel very well supported and very sexy at the same time. I still get the jiggle I love with the support from the padding in the bottom of the cup.
The band is quite tight but liveable. I can always use an extender if needed.
This bra seems to work very well with my shape, and gives me a terrific profile.
So ugly on me! I CANNOT BELIEVE that I finally found a bra that fits, but can't keep it because it feels like the cups go up to my neck! Drives me nuts!
But... I'm one step closer to my perfect bra! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
That happens with a lot of people. The Parfait Charlotte is a tall bra, with tall cups that go up high in the armpits. It also has been known to run small in the band and cup, so you 40HH would be a 38HH in other brands.
I definitely don't recommend keeping a bra you find physically uncomfortable but this is in no way ugly on you. It looks great on this photo actually. Does it actually bother you physically (cuts into armpits etc.) or are you just not used to bras that actually contain all your boobs after years of wearing too-small cups?
Also, I say this to everyone so I apologize for being a bore, but women who have been in badly-fitting bras for years usually have the habit of overtightening the straps (it's the only way to get any lift with a poorly-fitting bra). Sometimes people can try on a bra that has the potential to be very comfortable, but after doing their habitual "shorten straps to the max" thing this creates the false impression that the bra is uncomfortable. I always recommend that people who are new to the whole bra search thing loosen the straps a good 3-4" before assessing comfort.
I just recently got the same bra in the same colourway through a swap, and its taken a couple of wears for it to actually be fully comfortable. It is odd that the sides of the bra come up so high (takes some getting used to), but for me at least they kind of softened up and aren't terrible. But to second wendybien , don't wear anything that hurts! I've done that before and it was a bad, bad choice.
I had the same problem with my charlotte. I didn't wear it for months, even though I love how it looks. Someone on facebook recommended taking the gore in, and that actually fixed all the problems I had with it. Now the cups don't come up too far.
it doesn't hurt at all actually; it's very comfortable. I just don't feel good in it... like emotionally. What do u mean "taking in the gore?"
It will look like the second picture on the inside.
You don't feel good about it emotionally...? Meaning you don't think it's pretty on its own, or meaning you do not like what it does for your shape when you have clothes on? Does it create an east-west sort of wall-eyed appearance? Perhaps you need more deep-cut cups near the gore?
Nicely shaped and cute style! Fit everywhere! ...except the center.... I was so excited when I 1st put it on since I've never had a bra's center gore lie flat... but after about five minutes it started bothering me. After 10, it was digging.
I think this is a very good example of what a properly fitted bra can do. I'd pretty much given up on the idea of my wide breasts having cleavage but this delivers majorly. It gives that "baby's butt" touching cleavage like the add-2-cups bras i used to wear did, except that it also fits and supports me. It feels very firm everywhere, definitely not a "forget you're wearing it" bra, but during try-on it didn't seem like it was going to be painful. I'll report back if it is. I would recommend this as an alternative if the Freya Deco didn't work for you. I could never find a size or style in that that worked for me but this definitely works better for my deep, wide, short shape.
Okay, give me a second. HAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHA. WHAT? Okay, let me continue. I'm supposed to be busting out of this thing, right? That's the point? I can't decide whether it looks ridiculous or not. It gives this weird quadboob shelf on top of the padding. The bra itself is beautiful. White satin, eyelash lace, tassel in the center. I love its appearance but it looks very strange on. I'll have to think about this one...
The rave reviews I read before purchasing this bra are all correct. This is the first time i have cleavage in a well fitting bra.The phrase "sexy scaffolding" is a perfect description for this bra. Cups are shallow and I went one cup size up from my usual 38F. I think that would have fit just fine because I have a bit of gaping around the top edge after a few hours, but I have very shallow, FOB breasts so this is good enough. The bow on the center gore was mis-sewn on mine and a little messy but I got it for $18 on Amazon so I love it anyway.
I decided to try this bra after trying the half cup version. The bra itself is very attractive and I'm a fan of the eyelash lace details. There is a charm in the centre that is a nice finishing touch, but it was not stitched on properly and came loose.
Fit-wise, it's not ideal for me. It's about 1-2 cups too small. I'm having problems filling the bottom of the cup because it's too shallow in this size. The wires are also too narrow and is sitting on some tissue at the sides. The gore is spacing is too wide for me and sitting on quite a bit ...of centre tissue. Sizing up to a 30G may help with some of these problems but likely not all.
Other specs to note: the straps are not fully adjustable but this is due to the lace detailing on the front part of the strap so it appears to be a good compromise, especially if you don't need to adjust it too much higher. The band can stretch quite a bit but it's a snug elastic. I've never worn this for longer than a few minutes to take pictures, so I can't comment on whether the band wills stretch out. If it's anything like the bands on my other Parfait bras, it won't easily lose its elasticity. The satin cups are more sophisticated than the fabric covering on my Decos.
