I am absolutely gutted that this didn't fit me in so many ways. It's such a stunning bra.
The band was nice and firm, but the cups were too shallow at the bottom and gaped at the top, were too wide at the sides and with straps that were not only too far apart, but which when tightened to the maximum, were still a hand's width's tension on my shoulders.
This bra would be great for someone tall or with lower set breasts, with broad shoulders and wide, fuller on top breasts that have little immediate projection but slightly more at the apex.
I feel like going down to a 30FF is not going to work as these are all fit issues rather than size issues.
So this bra has wide wires and not much immediate projection? I have broad shoulders so I don't worry about that, but I'm FoB and EM gives me my best fit. This sounds like a typical British fit, is that correct?
Yep
There is no typical British fit, as some British bras are narrower and/or deeper than EM (Miss Mandalay, Figleaves, some Freyas, some Cleos) and it really depends on the size and style
That being said, if you fit EM, and have FOB boobs, then this won't be for you.
Thanks for your response. I've been surprised at how narrow some Cleo can be, but I've never tried one that wasn't too wide.
Ok you guys this is the first of my bras to arrive it's the Playful Promises Jaquelina Mustard Contrast Plunge bra. It is gorgeous, but I already knew that it would not fit me because I had to get a sister size UK 36H. Had it been in stock i likely would have gone for the HH or maybe a J. The good: The bra is gorgeous! The material looks very luxurious, the lace is thick and embroidered while the yellow satin base is smooth and has a low sheen. The straps are lined in smooth black satin and the little bows and gold hardware are ...cute little accents. I like that the band has a bone on each side to promote smoothing and even though the band is too big it is still firm enough to offer a bit of support.
The not so good: I knew that this would not be a perfect fit but I am keeping it. The gore is too high for me and does not tack, but even if it did this is about 1-2cups too small. It is not noticable unless the gore is pressed flat and it is not too wide thankfully. I need a lower gore because of center full close set tissue. The straps are only half adjustable which could be a big issue for some. The strap placement wasn't extremely wide but it would have been nice if they were moved in an inch.
I bought the matching “brazillian” more like a bikini style and the crotchless thong. I have just taken new measurements so I will keep this in mind in the future.
I bought a UK 12 in the brazilian and although I love the soft stretchable mesh the front i feel is built for a fupa...i wouldn't mind going up to a UK14 but I'd been too afraid that the front would be too baggy. Which is weird, it fit everywhere else on my 46.5" hip and i also did not like that they are very low rise. Just a personal preference because I feel like that cut highlights my lil bottom belly
The crotchless thong I got in a UK 10, wouldn't mind going up a size it was still comfortable, but the same baggy front area was present. It's odd but they are both cute. Also I felt like the crotchless part is such a slim opening not even the size just the cut. My hip bone is 40.5" Read more 305 more words
This is one of the most comfortable bras I own. I have sensory issues and chronic pain, which means I'm very sensitive to anything poking and constricting but this bra is just absolute heaven. The fabric is super soft, you can barely feel it on your skin. I can wear it all day without it adding to my pain and it looks pretty too. There is nothing scratchy about this bra, the straps are almost pillowy. So. Good.
dbmamaz this specific style doesn't go to down to a 30 band (which I usually need) so I went for the 32. And it's comfortable. So I'd like to think that my comfort is more important than what the band does.
When I had back spasms I couldn't wear the normal tight band I prefer, so it may be that the looser band actually does help a lot with your comfort! I bet the padded cups help with support. I really love the look of this bra, too bad it's not in a more expanded cup size.
Yay for comfortable bras :-) :-) The color is beautiful on you! I have several 36 bands in my bradrobe and my underbust is 28". The things we tolerate for pain-free bras ;-)
annarose, I'm glad you found a bra that doesn't worsen your pain! It's a pretty bra besides.
yeah, that makes sense. just since its your first bra listed here, i had no idea your awareness
It looks gorgeous! I really want one now! Is it really 6'3" wide though?
I adore the peach colorway, and the bra looks beautiful on you! I love the shaping...I hope to try this brand because it looks so great on you. It's good to know that it's comfortable...I have some sensory issues too, and bras can be torture devices.
Thanks for measuring this one! Please add the measurements for the other PlayfulPromises bras you have. There's so very few on here and we need at the data we can get!
I did not expect much from this bra. I know from years of trying to find good Demi cups that sexy underwear is even harder to buy than comfortable daily staff. But imagine my surprise when I put on the Callie bra and and it looked the way way it looked on the models in photos! I could not believe what I was seeing. Incredibly sexy, but it was actually comfortable. There was an especially lovely peek of underboob but I felt supported. The only thing I would possibly change about it is to make it so that the gore sits flat on my sternum. Maybe I should have gone up a cup size. But still, it felt like it was made for me. What is this sorcery? I love this bra!
WARNING: Lots of nipple in this review. This is a quarter cup bra and I didn't have pasties/bandaids on hand-if this is against the rules, let me know and I will adjust accordingly.
I've been so bad about reviews this year. I've been going through a lot, and while I've been ordering bras I haven't had the time/energy to dedicate to writing good reviews. Hopefully, this has all changed!
This is a quarter cup bra from Playful Promises. It's my first quarter cup bra ever, and my first order from Playful Promises. They had a sale on and when I noticed this bra and matching ouvert brief, it ...was love at first site. I ordered off the UK site (the US and UK sites had different stock and this model wasn't available through the US site). It took 7 days to get here.
Pros: Beautiful colour, matching brief has the cutest little lace skirt, construction seems solid, materials are nice and soft, straps are soft and match the cup fabric, nice firm/tts band, narrow and firm wires
Cons: Longest straps EVER-not fully adjustable and stretchy, shallow cups, sizing on brief is interesting
No apology necessary for the blogging hiatus, gratiat ! Thanks for the new review. I always wondered about those quarter cup bras.

I hope it's not banned... would be a little silly for a bra website... FREEEE THE NIPPLE! lol.
I am curious about the construction of the cups here--is it my imagination or does the inner half/quadrant look like it makes almost a flat shape from the gore to the apex? I feel like that's what is orienting the apex outward.
@Wendybien-It's a 2 part half cup. If we divided the cup in 3rds, I'd say the inner part is 1/3 and the outer part 2/3. So from my understanding that should bring the apex in instead of pushing it out to the sides like here. I think how shallow it is overall, especially on the inner part, is what is leading to the 'hourglass' from the front look.
@learning about bras While I'm in love with this bra, I'm not sure if I'd buy another quarter cup. They aren't the most practical bras to buy but with a tighter shirt I think I can get away with wearing this in public.
Thanks for your review and photos! With my very short-waisted physique, 1/4 cups may be nearly full coverage in the cup width/depth I require. :-)
After shortening the straps it looks so much better! You did a fantastic job and I've always loved shelf bras. I wonder if they sell small sizes... I may be on the opposite size spectrum as Love4Pollinators but I generally have the same problem, most low coverage cups end up being almost full coverage on me. Not sure why, but there it is. You've definitely made me want to go check out this brand! Oh, and yes. I'm pretty sure just flat out nipples showing is not allowed. I generally put a little "sticker" on mine in photo edit app.
I own several quarter cup bras some from PP but not this one. Some project the breasts forward (The best one I found id s cacique for that. My PP ones generally support well, with the nipples just peeping over the top.as the day wears on they are more than peeping!! I'm a 22H.
When I saw this one was on sale I knew I had to pick it up. Love the color and I was dying to have a quarter cup work for me. I knew that playful promises had been shallow and wide for me before, so I was prepared for that fit, and that is indeed the case. I'm going to replace the wires and sew in cookie pockets and I think that will work much better for me. The chain seems like it might be too small for those that have larger waists.
On one hand, amazing shape, great separation and cups. On the other, the band is too large. I just got it and I have to keep it on the smallest clasp. That's not right, bras are meant to use the largest clasps when new so you can move down a row as the elastic loosens.
This bralette is really beautiful! I love seeing more unusual designs also in larger sizes / plus size. Unfortunately this is too small for me (36GG), but I think this could work well for someone who wears a smaller cup size.
Regarding the construction, there are a couple of loose threads, but the quality is overall good, and also it's definitely better than the velvet bralette from the same collection. What is interesting is the way the band is made. The back part is a sigle layer of powermesh. Then comes a side stay, and then the front part is made from a layer of satin with very little ...stretch. The last part at the middle, close to the hooks and eyes, is satin reinforced with non-stretch mesh. Overall this works well to keep the band in place and prevent it from rolling up, especially considering that the 4 hooks and eyes are in the front. I've only tried the bra on for a few minutes, so I can't tell how this holds up with wearing or washing. The straps are quite wide and comfortable. The triangle cups are made from two layers of non-stretch mesh, the top one having pretty floral embroidery. The mesh is not too soft, but it feels quite sturdy. The cups are quite shallow as the shape is given only by a vertical dart. Although they are significantly too small for me (2-3 sizes probably), I think this is quite supportive and would look very good in a correct size. I am not sure if this is only because of the size mismatch, but it doesn't look like it would work for a lot of inner fullness.
The sizing for this bralette is plus size UK clothing sizes, which makes it quite difficult to get the right size. One thing that would help would be if they provided a conversion table between the usual UK bra sizes and their clothing-sized bralettes. Otherwise, it's a bit hit or miss. As far as I can tell, this bralette would work for a 34-36 band and probably F-FF cup. Overall, this looks like it would be comfortable in the right size.
I really liked the style of this bralette, especially the combination of velvet and fishnet, and I also appreciate Playful Promises' inclusive range of plus sizes. I was not sure if the size would work, as I wear a 36GG and this bralet is clothing sized, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Unfortunately the size and fit don't work for me, and I also wish the materials were softer.
Regarding the quality and construction, there quite a few loose threads and this feels more fashion- than fit-focused. The materials seem sturdy though.
The cups are lined with mesh and have also a side sling. The ...velvet is a bit stretchy but not flimsy, and there is also an additional piece of velvet sewn vertically through the middle of the cup, which is quite stiff and is probably meant to provide some structure and shape. The cups do provide some support, and this would definitely be better when wearing the right size.
The band is comfortable and less stretchy than I expected, because of the velvet bottom edge and top elastic, so this could be quite supportive, plus would look cool with a see-through tshirt. The band has 3 sets of 4 hooks and eyes, which is nice. The bralette has a side stay which prevents the band from rolling. My main issue are the straps, which are very uncomfortable on me, even just trying this on for a few minutes. They are thin and not stretchy at all, and the fact that the band is a bit loose for me does not help. The first part of the straps is simply a non-stretch velvet ribbon which is not particularly soft on the inside, while the part in the back is very stretchy. However, the straps are not too wide set so this can be a plus for someone with narrower shoulders.
Regarding the sizing, I think this is probably about 2 cups too small on me, so it might be a better fit on someone wearing a 38F-ish.
I don't like how droopy it is. The pretty string that holds up the cups is not adjustable so they just sort of hang. It would be better if this could be adjusted to get my boobs to the right height
I can't adequately review this bra due to it being completely the wrong size, but it's built nicely and feels high quality. The predominant fabric is mint green powermesh so the band and cups don't have much structure, so this might not make the best everyday bra for some people. Despite being the wrong size, it's actually fairly comfortable for at least a few hours. The cup shape would also suit a very shallow bust, but could probably work for a more projected bust given the stretchy fabric.
The band also seems quite firm for a 32, although I get little back bulges because the band fabric is much stretchier than the elastic.
It is a quarter cup bra Tulip shaped top and also a quarter cup bra. The top of the cups works like a flap which stands out from the breasts. It is ok under dresses etc but not a plain T shirt because of the flap. I have 2 of these in 22H and 22 FF but they both do it. fantastic quality fabric!

Bust width is 36", waist line 28", hip 38"
Threw out the wires ASAP, beacuse buckle up kids this is a wild one...
ALL of the bust size is in the band here. Your shape can and WILL determine if this swimsuit is a bust
Har de har har.
For you see, Cup volume in this UK10 is approximately a 30A, ***MAYBE*** 30B
Super duper boob hat moment
may as well cut out the cups, make them into a pair of pasties to get more coverage
So much confusion and cussing.

This bra's measurements have been altered
high waist bikini modification. permanantly atteached straps at set length. Reinforced inner lining of top, opened at gore for space to manage spillage.
This bra is a beautiful design with mustard yellow colour of satin - nice to find a yellow that doesn't look awkward on my pale white skin. The inside of the cup is a soft material, so it's comfortable, not itchy. The underwire does not poke in the skin. The cups and straps are thick, the straps don't irritate or leave marks on shoulders. Finally some good bra straps!
I am ever-fluctuating in size. So when I got this bra, the cups were slightly tight on me in the mornings with a bit of tissue poking out at the armpits, then by the evenings it looked more like ...a true fit. But overall, the bra held me in and I didn't get quadboob. The bra has remained in great condition wth all lacy bits intact, but now I'd say it's 1 cup size too small for me. In the mornings I now get quadboob if I stand up straight with this bra on. I'm considerably more projected now than this time last year. It's really my body, not the bra's fault - fortunately I got some 30F bras from Playful Promises now and they fit wonderfully. Well, I'll be sad to get rid of this 30E bra but at least it gave the cup volume it promised and stayed sturdy over time!
The band is suitably tight for support - no sliding up or down. I normally need 28 band bras but PlayfulPromises doesn't go below a 30 band. Fortunately their band sizes run small enough so I can get away with their 30 bands even on the loosest hook at first. I have tried 30DD, 30E and 30Fs from them and found that they all felt snug as my 28 bands do. I wish they would make lower band sizes than their 30s though, to be more inclusive. Their website does show 28 as a band size to choose from, but it says nothing is available when you search it. Their website states they won't justify it for sales.
The big negative of this bra - the fancy pattern shows through every top. It's going to look a bit bumpy even through a turtleneck sweater. So I stuck to wearing it just at home! Read more 268 more words
I do wish I would have ordered a 30G instead of 30FF, as my nipples are very close to popping out while wearing this; it is a true half cup. On the upside, I am wideset and have issues getting nice cleavage, so I love the way this bra looks with low cut tops, but definitely not for everyday wear.
So this bra has wide wires and not much immediate projection? I have broad shoulders so I don't worry about that, but I'm FoB and EM gives me my best fit. This sounds like a typical British fit, is that correct?
