This is a good comfortable everyday bra. The 1" straps are comfortable and firm. I always keep them on the shortest setting to keep my bust high and minimise bounce. There is no underwire. The wings at the side are wide (5") and provide good support with their bone. This is a full bra and I can only wear it on the shortest hook setting.

As far as non wired options go, this is one of the best. It fit me perfectly when I was wearing H cups, but now I’m HH/J and it’s a little too snug. It’s still wearable, though! It’s actually one of the only 36H bras I can still comfortably wear.

The support and shape are very nice for a soft cup bra. I have found most soft cup bras are painful in the band and straps and create a very pointed east-west shape that makes my breasts easily bumped into by my arms (the bruising on the outside of my breasts is awful!). By contrast, the Doreen provides ... a slightly rounder, more front-facing silhouette with a good amount of lift. (Still definitely a pointed shape, but less egregious than most others in this category.) It’s nicely supportive, and it distributes weight comfortably between the band, the cups, the straps, and the “gore” area. The center doesn’t tack, since it’s a soft cup, but it almost does. This bra does a darn good job overall. I get a bit of starburst wrinkling near the nipple now, but I didn’t when it fit me correctly. The cups are just flexible enough I can mostly squish my breasts into the right shape inside them.

The Doreen has held up nicely over the past 2.5 years, despite being machine washed, and it seems to resist staining a lot better than all my other pink and nude bras. I might try to find another in my current size. It’s also surprisingly pretty for what it is. It’s not sexy exactly, but it’s a nice everyday kind of bra if you can’t do wires or want something you can throw in the washing machine. I do hang it dry, though.

I have a review of this bra on my blog http://curvywordy.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-quest-for-sleep-bra-triumph-doreen.html but can't link it as I have used it for the 36K I have already listed on this site.

I was really impressed with this bra and the support it offered. However, for me the 34K had a band that was too big and cups that were too small. Unfortunately Triumph do not make this bra above a K cup so either I compromise and settle on this slightly ill-fitting bra or I continue my seemingly never-ending search for a non-wired bra to wear around the house and in bed.

Please note that Triumph manufactures its bras in European cupsizes. Theoretically a EU-K-cup equals a UK-GG-cup.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cupumrechnung_en.png

I'm thus not surprised that you found the cups too small.

Thank you for your comment. I did not know this - it seems crazy that the size in the label is shown as the UK size but in fact this is not the case. Very odd.

    • 1

Royce makes some softcup bras up to a true UK-K cup. This is what I can recommend trying.

    • 1

I had the chance to see a Royce sports bra in a J cup and it ran *very* small. It led me to believe they were running under US or EU system.

My favourite daily bra. Old fashioned, reliable and dam sturdy. Gives a good vintage but natural shape of breasts not round Mellon's which I hate.

The size of this bra is not 42J, it is 95J bc Triumph is an European manufacturer. A 95J equals roughly a 42G(UK) and a 42H(US).

This bra is a wireless fullcup and it is not a good fit on me. My breasts are very wide, without underwires I have trouble putting on the bra correctly. When I bow forward I can still gather all the tissue from the side to come up in front and when I do this the cup of the bra is too small. But since there is no underwire all the tissue falls back to the sides, leaving the upper part of the ... cup empty. As a consequence the cups start to hang as if I was wearing no bra at all. Not a good look.

Also the band is too loose on me. The bands from Triumph tend to be on the stretchy side anyway, the band of the Doreen is no exception. I have to wear it on the tightest hook and it still crawls up right up to my neck.

I only wear this bra indoors when my breasts are swollen and I cannot bear wired bras. With all wired bras that I've found so far the wires are slightly too narrow for me. Normally it is not a problem, but on some days ... The Doreen is one of the non-wired bras that I use.

I wear breastforms in my bras so the biggest concern is support. This bra gives great support with a firm band and comfortable straps that adjust in front (a big plus!) My breastforms are fully encapsulated in the cups so they don't constantly need adjusting when I bend and move. I would say it is second only to the Elila 1303 bra in this respect. It is a bit old school but so am I and the lace cups are very pretty and feminine. It is, by the way, still available if you search.

I got this Triumph Doreen a few months ago as loved the idea of a red bra. In a 34H this is a bit tight for me although it does give a firm fit. Not too much bounce here. Having said that my boobs are rather squeezed in. Gives good projection and looks fine under most clothes. T-shirts rather give away the industrial structure of this bra though, both in terms of the 1" wide straps, side boning and the cup profile. I got this in a K cup as well now and that is definitely a better fit - but not available in red I understand.

This is my everyday bra. K is the largest cup size available at the moment for Triumph Doreen and 34" is the smallest band size. Oh how I wish they would just go down to a 32" and an L cup. This is a very supportive bra with bones at the side and no underwire to dig in. The cups give quite good coverage, just a little tight for me. Strange that on the K cup Doreen the double layer of fabric support between the cup stops about an inch short of the top, whereas in a larger band H cup I have it goes all the way to the top. Does anyone know why this is? I know I could get prettier bras in my size but most have an underwire and don't feel as if they give the same support.

Updated on Aug 30, 2014 Flag this

    • I recently bought a Doreen and I agree it's a super supportive bra!! You know something is odd about the band lengths--a 34 in larger cup sizes is FAR longer than a 34 in smaller cup sizes. I have a 34F and it is as tight as any 30 band I have ever tried on.

I don't know why the design is different in H and K in the bridge between the cups. Perhaps the higher band sizes are comsidered plus size designs and as such have additional reinforcements?

Do you avoid underwires because they press downward due to the weight of the breasts, or is it because you've found it hard to get a correctly fitting underwire that is neither too narrow nor too wide? I definitely love nonwired bras myself, but as you point out there is a problem of availability and choice in smaller band, larger cup options. A well-sized underwire that truly matches your anatomical shape can be just as supportive.

    • My breasts are very heavy and underwire bras cut in to me. Its also very difficult getting just the right width of cup and shape of wires. Non wired just seem to hold things together better.

    • Yes I have heard that before from many people. It's just a shame not to have more to choose from! Bra manufacturers are now starting to make more updated-looking nonwired bras but many of these seem to be contoured/padded. The majority of the unpadded ones are in the maternity or nursing segment of the market. Even with these I do have a few quibbles about the design; I find the underbust bands are not wide enough, unlike the old fashioned designs like Doreen, Playtex 18 hour etc.
