Bra fitting help » Second Ewa Michalak that won't stay in my IMF. What next?

Issue resolved
Gotta get narrower and more projected...I may try altering a bra that is deep enough with some narrower wires.
Original problem
I've gotten some great advice so far. So I thought I'd post this request before I search for my next purchase. I previously posted a request for the SF Trapez bra. The fit on that was very off.
This bra seemed like a decent fit at first, but the wires wouldn't go all the way into my IMF and by the end of the day the strap was digging painfully into my sternum. I added a picture where you can see the marks from the wires and the band.
Any suggestions on what to try next? I've got Comexim 3HC and Ewa's CHP cut on my radar. Thanks!

helpfulI'm sorry no one has been able to help you with this one.
My impression - i've been nervous to mention - but is that your breasts seem to be a somewhat unusual shape. They look to be longer and narrower than most. So, your perimeters range from 10.5 to 13, and your breast base height is 6. My perimeters range from 14-16, but my breast base height is 10. So your base height is like 1/2 of your perimeters and mine is more like 2/3.
I think this is part of why you are having so much trouble - your breast roots are very very narrow compared to the length. It reminds me of someone who was here a while back who said she had tubular breasts, I think? and I dont remember what worked for her.
I DO wonder if maybe customizing with smaller wires might help - there are a few people around here who have bought cheap smaller bras, taken the wires out of them, and put them in to their bras to make the base of the cup narrower.
I think the reason that your wires are being pushed down is because your breasts are so projected, the apex of your breast is needing to be in the apex of the bra - so the lower fourth of the cup is just empty.
I also think about some of the retro 'bullet' bras . . . they tend to work well for women with a LOT of projection.
and to be clear, its not just 'immediate' projection - thats when the bra cup comes out from your body pretty quickly, as opposed to a gradual slope. Some of it is also the total projection - the depth not of the whole cup, but the depth right at the apex of the cup. I have a little bit of trouble with this too - my ewa michalaks generally are not projected enough for me, and my boobs will try to climb out the top. For me, Panache Jasmine is the best projection, but i'm not sure it would be enough for you, esp at your size range which is somewhat different than mine (i'm wearing 32JJ)
I wish i had more advice, but I just wanted to share what I think I'm seeing, in case thats helpful at all?!

Good luck with your search!

help4myboobs in case you want to try replacing some wires with smaller ones, here is a link to a post by maddy2596 who documented her wire swapping experiments extensively: http://www.bratabase.com/adventures/entry/14598/

finallygotboobs Thanks for the link! I'll check it out.

helpfulI've successfully replaced wires in my bras as has maddy2596. She has a tutorial on it somewhere on here. Since you have firm breasts, I think the key is to first get a bra which has an apex depth that is close to your leaning perimeter. Then you can get bra wires. Porcelynne sells a wide variety in the us. You'll probably want verticals, which are narrower and deeper: http://porcelynne.com/lingerie-supplies/underwire

Just saw the comment above. That's the tutorial I was talking about!

Thank you for the link! These are all so helpful.
I actually have soft breasts. I don't know if that changes your suggestion. Let me know if you think it makes a difference. Thanks!
-
soft may be relative. Obviously they keep getting softer as you age. Mine are like pancakes hanging down to my belly button, but if you gather them up, they are round all over . . . but easily quad out of a bra because they are so very soft - i spent a full decade nursing.
it looks like your breasts are hard to squish up tho
-
dbmamaz That's true...I don't have much to compare them to. lol. I've never even been pregnant, but mine hang down too - always have. I never considered that I might have narrow roots because when unsupported, they spread out so much that they look wider than they really are. When leaning they look rounder (at least at the bottom, or apex?). :-)
-
I mean you do have some softness (or your laying would be the same as your leaning) but not too much. I would not try to fit your laying perimeter as that would not give enough projection (it would be smaller than this bra). I might start trying to fit the average of your horizontal and vertical instead. This might take some tries to get right. You might also look for brands/models that have shorter or more closed cups. Curvy Kate Daydreamer, Bardot, and Cabaret, Bravissimo Alana, and Comexim plunges are options.

Interesting, thanks! I'll keep searching.

helpfulAlthough you don't require the center projection, Gorsenia's K200+ unlined balconettes have the narrowest and deepest cups I've found. This is my inexpensive, easily acquired suggestion.
Comexim's unlined prototype requires more time and money: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/comexim/unknown-model/65K/pictures/ Jamie at Bra Obsessed (Canada) will know precisely how to order this bra because she sent it to me. Additionally, you will be able to order your precise width and depth from Comexim! From my perspective, this may be your best bet.
Best wishes finding a great fit soon!!

That Comexim looks like the unlined Karen that's available on the Comexim site now. Is it the same?
-
Thank you!! That bra is so cute!
-
letstalkaboutbras It is strongly possible the Karen is the same pattern, but without measuring the bra myself, I hesitate to comment. For those of us with unique breast shapes, Comexim is a bright ray of hope. Although, even then, a few of us still don't find a good fit. Sigh.

Well, you get me! Yes, you have described my shape pretty accurately and tubular is also a good way to describe them. LOL!
This is helpful because knowing exactly what problems I am dealing with will help me solve them (hopefully). I'm actually kind of afraid of what a well fitting bra would look like on me - my boobs would enter the room a few seconds before me.
So maybe Comexim and Ewa Michalak are not going to save me. Customizing with my own wire is an interesting idea, I'm going to think about how to do that. Funny that you mention the bullet bras...when I was young, I used to wear a Victoria's Secret style that had a bit of a point shape to it. As far as I can remember, it was comfortable. Maybe it actually suited my shape better than the newer styles.
So much to think about! Anyway, thanks for your comments. It really does help to have confirmation of what I have been suspecting. :)
