Issue resolved
I think this is a shape mismatch. I've tried narrower, more projected bras and the wires of those don't sit on top of my breast. I believe this happens when bras are too shallow.
Original problem
When I scoop and swoop this bra fits really well, but at the end of the day my breasts move and the wires leave marks on the sides of my breasts, about 1/2" on the top part, while the top of the cups gap a little.
Does anyone know why my breasts move out of the cups? I wear the bra on the 3rd column of hooks (4th = tightest) because I should actually wear a smaller band size, but having it much tighter is uncomfortable for me (I have a lean back and wearing tight bands hurts my back muscles).
Any thoughts on what might help keeping my breasts in the cups? I have shallow breasts with lots of center fullness.
PS I tried this bra both 1 cup larger (way too big) and 1 cup smaller (pushes my breasts too close and leaves wire marks in center and on sides)

helpfulIf you are average to wide-rooted, unfortunately this probably isn't the brand for you. Comexim does offer shallow as well as deeper shapes but above all it is known for narrow wires!
You really don't ever want to tolerate a wire sitting on, poking or otherwise attacking your breast tissue... it's not good as well as being uncomfortable.Updated on October 16, 2017 Flag this

Ha well I love a challenge... what wire width do you need? I feel like some of the less-known Polish companies could perhaps have that... Is 70 really completely OK in brands that don't run as snug as Comexim, because that would open up more possibilities for you.

helpfulI'm suspecting the cups might be a little bit too narrow for you. Do you move around a lot during the day? (especially your arms?) Maybe you could try cups with a wider cup and see if that helps, and just take a bathroom break here and there to re-scoop everything back in.

Thanks! I've tried a couple of bras with wider wires, but they are usually either too big in the cups, or I get quad boobs in them. I plan to keep this bra, so I'll just try to do a couple of scoops and swoops during my bathroom breaks :)

I think this is too small and/or shallow for you. I'm not familiar with this specific bra, but you might also need something that is more closed on top and/or has more room for bottom fullness. I get a similar effect with a t-shirt bra I have that's too shallow - it appears to fit when I first put it on, but after awhile the wires slide down a bit and the cups start gapping on top because my breasts are moving to a position that's more comfortable and natural. I do much better in my Freya unlined plunge, although I think those might be too projected for you.
-
Thanks. It happens with all of my wired bras, except with a Parfait plunge that is not very wide. The cup size should be fine (a cup larger didn't work in this bra). I'll order the Freya to see if it helps! I've been trying very shallow bras since I started using bratabase and I still think my breasts are shallow because my roots are both wider and taller than my breasts seem, but on the other hand they do not look very shallow
-
Projected breasts can have wide and tall roots, but projection is also a spectrum so maybe you could be around the middle (average projection).
-
erana , when we say "shallow breasts" without further qualification, it usually means that all parts of the breast are less projected than average compared to other people in the same size range. So, just having an expansive breast root area with SOME shallow tissue at the sides and top, doesn't preclude having a projected shape at the apex, if that makes sense. It's not all or nothing--your breast tissue can be shallow in some places and projected in others. A wide shape with a lot of center fullness is not an unusual shape to have at all, and breasts that splay out side to side when unsupported often have extra center fullness.
-
wendybien that's exactly what happens with me. I wonder if this bra is too shallow at the apex and therefore pushes my breasts to the side. Some of my narrower bras don't leave wire marks on the sides of my breasts (like the Parfait Casey). I'm not sure yet what width I need. I thought at least 5.5 inch, but haven't found a bra yet that works, as the wider ones are usually either way too big, or squish my center tissue. Thanks for all your help!

OK, interesting--so if you can wear a narrow wire without getting marks or tissue compression, perhaps it's not a breast width issue--just a cups too shallow or small issue. It could also be a wire length thing.... some people have a trail of breast tissue extending out from the main breast mass, but if a wire stops lower than this trail, the wire fits fine despite being narrow. Try to compare the bras with wires that do fit to try to figure out the likely causes, and this will things a little easier as you continue to look for shapes and dimensions that work!
-
wendybien that could be it, the only bras that don't leave marks have very short wires!
They also tend to have smaller cup sizes and I now wonder if too large of a cup gets pushed away by my breasts as they have a tendency to "fall" to the sides. For example, I have this problem with the freya dice 30E, but not with the deco bikini top in 30DD

helpfulAre the wires sliding down and out of your IMF?
Your breasts are definitely not shallow btw.

The wires stay close to my IMF. I think the bra makes my boobs look more projected when I scoop and swoop (as in the picture), but they are probably too shallow and push sideways, so that the wires end up sitting on my breasts. I have a weird combination of full center and wide roots, so when I bend over my breasts look projected, but when I don't wear a bra they move towards my arms.
-
Just because your breasts move towards your arms does not mean you have shallow breasts. After looking through a great deal of your pictures, it looks to me like you are functionally FOB with wide, tall roots (which is why you say you are FOT, because you need open top, but you often do not fill FOT friendly bras like some of your cleos) with narrow breasts that require immediate projection at the wire, and you also have very soft tissue (which is why you often think you need smaller cups than you do). Pendulous (sp?) breasts are very projected and they tend to hang down low and often move towards the arms.
I think your breasts are moving out if the cups because the band is simply not tight enough, I'm curious why the unstretched band measurement is so important to you? Perhaps it is more about what the band is made of? I know comexim often uses quite firm materials for the band or maybe you should just wear an extender until the band loosens up. I honestly think this is the only problem you are having here. If the band was tight enough, your breasts would stay.

LeProfessor thank you so much for taking the time to look through my pictures and for this long comment!! I think what you write is spot on: I have wide roots in all directions and my tissue is very soft, which is maybe why I thought my breasts were shallow. But when I lean over they are actually quite narrow. I wonder if my breasts somehow push the wires away from my body, so that they end up on top of my breasts. I don't have this issue with narrow bras so maybe I should try a couple that are larger in cup size but narrower. But yeah I understand a tight band is needed to keep the wires in place too.
I find tight bands very uncomfortable because I have a flared left ribcage together with a high imf, so gores often hurt. I am also very lean and tight bands compress my back muscles and cause back pain (but bands that are too loose cause back pain too). I've tried a couple of different band sizes and size 30 feels best for now, so this comexim's band is definitely too loose, but I do have this issue of breasts pushing on outer wires in bras with tighter bands too..
-
PS it was the band after all. I finally got a rixie clip and wore the bra today with a tiger band. It was comfortable and I have no wire marks :)
-
Have a flared rib cage must cause you such fit issues! You could try adding a very plush, soft elastic/layer underneath a larger band as this would provide cushion and make the band smaller/tighter simultaneously.
I have quite an issue with Gore's.....I have found that I either need a gore that goes up high (over an inch and a half) or one that is almost non existent. I also have an uneven IMF, my smaller breast sits higher on my chest than my larger breast and it doesn't seem to matter what I do, I can't get the bra to sit cock-eyed enough to no sit on my tissue of my larger breast by my Gore.
You could try bending the Gore away from you body to prevent it from digging in. There are also brands like Wacoal (and I think Freya) that have softer, cushioned wires. You could always replace the firm wires with softer, maybe even plastic ones if that works for you!
Freya and curvey Kate have notoriously stretchy, not very firm bands so you could probably wear a 28 with them. Otherwise you may just marry your rixie clip to keep you a band that nice n snug but still loose enough to be comfortable.
When you take a bra off, take a note of the wire marks on your chest and see if they follow the breast tissue or sit on it. Measure the width of that bra and try to get bras with that particular width! Good luck!

helpfulAre the wires sitting on your breasts along the length of the gore and/or along the base of your breasts?

Only on the sides of my breasts. Along the gore it's OK because the cups are probably large enough
-
That is good news! Comexim will use a wider wire, if you request it. The cup may be a bit more shallow unless you request more depth at the wire, simultaneously.
I have bent their wires outward in the past to create more space for outer tissue. The wires will return to their original shape, if you don't want them wider any longer. It will shallow the cup a little.
Good luck!
-
The wires should not be sitting on your breast tissue along your side/under your arms. That means the wires are too narrow. A larger cup size will get you wider wires.

Thanks! I'm still looking for a wide bra that accommodates my center fullness.
