Freya » Deco Moulded Plunge Bra (4234) » 32FF 32:8
This is my first bra after reading those wrong bra size articles/blogs. Ordered a few different bras to try on and settled on this one. I'm not sure if this is a good fit.
Deco plunge 32FF.
The band is tight. It leaves a little red mark when taken off but not too tight that makes me uncomfortable, esp now that it has stretched a little. I tried 34 but it rode up a bit when I moved. Maybe I should take 34 and just fasten on 2nd/3rd hook?
Problem is I don't feel very supported. It just feels like the bras squish my boobs together but doesn't lift them. The bra pushes my boobs close to each other but under them the center gore is right there to separate the breast tissue, and I kinda feel wearing this bra is shaping my boobs into a weird shape (close upper boobs, wide lower boobs).
And more importantly, this bra leaves red marks on my boobs from center gore up to top of the cups, some quad-boob if I scoop a lot and shorten straps, but it gapes when I slouch or lie down.
I really don't know if I'm just wearing it wrong (I do wear the straps quite short), or if this is a wrong size or maybe simply wrong design?
Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

helpfulThe cups are way too small. You won't be able to assess band fit as long as the cups are wrong, because when your boobs don't fit inside the cups they use up band length that should be going round your rib cage. Try a 32 G and GG and when the cups fit with no overspill you will be able to see if the 32 band is really too tight or not. If it's too snug, sister size up to a 34 (so if 32GG fits in the cup, 34G has the same cup volume but a looser band).

For the band fit, try putting it on backwards and upside down, so the shoulder straps are by your tush. That'll keep the cups out of the way so you can tell how tight it actually is. If it's just a smidge tight, stay with the 32 but get an extender.

Ok, thanks. This bra gapes when I slouch so I wasn't sure if it was too small or too big. I'll try a bigger cup and some different styles.
Never thought of an extender. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks.
Oh another question, I understand that 32FF and 34F have the same cup volume but are the cups exactly the same (same wire length/depth/cup construction, like 34F is 32FF with longer band?) Or are the cups same volume but constructed slightly differently?

monaffmona Any bra will gape when you slouch. It's impossible that it fits right in any position you're in. Bra fit should be judged in a standing, neutral position.
As for your cup volume question - depends on the brand, but usually the cups will be the same, just with a longer band. There may be slight changes in the cup width/depth, but it's usually not noticable when comparing two band sizes - you would notice differences between a 38B and 30E, for example, but not so much between 32FF and 34F.

Hmm, bracrastination, this is different slightly from some of what I've learned recently, I think?
first of all, while most bras (esp molded ones) will gap when you slouch, if you are going to be active in a bra (or spend a lot of time sitting?) you might want to make sure it works equally well in that position. I remember seeing a video from Curvy Kate where they show a model jumping on the bed in her undies and saying that you should be able to move around and still have the bra be comfortable. and someone here (i think) posted that a bra seemed good but didnt work when she was chasing her kids around all day - so . . . sometimes it will matter how it fits in various positions, at least that you arent falling out or in pain doing what you plan to do in this bra
Second - 32FF and 34F are sister sizes -they would have the same cup. But a 32F and a 34F, the 34F should be slightly wider than the 32F. If ONLY the band changes, not the cup, then you should see a change in the width of the cup. all of your examples were changing band AND cup.

dbmamaz She wrote "This bra gapes when I slouch so I wasn't sure if it was too small or too big." The bra is clearly too small in the pictures, so the "slouching test" is not relevant here. (Also, the OP never mentioned slouching would be her 'natural' position.)
Apart from that, I don't really get what point you are trying to make with the 32F and 34F. I know that, lol.
Like I mentioned 38B and 30E ARE in fact sister sizes, but the cup width and depth may vary slightly (more than between 32FF and 34F). I don't know how to explain that any better. Please also refer to this comment: http://www.bratabase.com/adventures/entry/5991/#adventure-comment-34254 for a different wording of the same thing.
Thanks. :)

helpfulThis bra looks too small to me. You would look better and more comfortable in a bigger size.
I agree with the other suggestion. But a really easy way to tell if the band is too small is to put the bra on backwards. If the band feels comfortable backwards and feels too tight when you try to fit into the cups, then it's the cups that are too small. I really like this style or brand on you. Other than looking too small, it looks really nice.
You have to be really FOT for this bra to work for you.
And wider wires would be more comfortable on you.
Maybe like Curvy Kate bras. They are wider than Freya.Updated on December 20, 2014 Flag this

helpfulAs others have said, yes it looks like the cups are too small. But you may just find that this isn't the style bra for you because it is designed to push your boobs up and center, and the low gore will contribute to this.
I have a similar fit issue in this bra (in 30G/32FF). Looking at your side angle, though, keep in mind that as you go up in cup size, there will likely be more side coverage. As you tighten the straps - making sure the underwire sits comfortably in your inframammary fold (where the breast root starts) - it looks by your picture that the cups and wires may start reaching uncomfortably into your armpits.
I'm short with high-set breasts and this is primarily why I can't wear the Deco Plunge. By the time I size up enough in the cup, it is too much coverage at the sides. Also the better the fit with the cup when standing neutrally, the more it gapes when even slightly slouching. Just a shape mismatch for me.
For the same reason, I'd be cautious with bras with wider or taller wires.

helpfulI couldn't get a good fit with the deco no matter the size but I had really good luck with the Parfait Casey and Jeanie. But the bands are snugger per size in my experience than the deco. It does look too me too that the cups are too small but I think it will gape more in the next size. I think it can happen with any molded bra so I just try to find the one it happens the least with,

helpfulI think it looks perfect :/ but I like to look full in my bras.. but as its marking your skin you probably should go up a size. I do have this bra in 34G and it was always uncomfortable but I loved the way it looked when I first got so kept it, its too small now, so I tried it in 34GG but hated the look... just looked boring and was still feeling tight in the back..
Maybe you feel unsupported because its moulded, if you aren't used to that.
I nearly always tighten my straps too, I want them to look higher upUpdated on April 4, 2016 Flag this
I agree the cups are too small - but also, this looks like a bra designed to give a lot of cleavage. If you want your breast more separated, you want a different shape of bra, one that actually separates your breasts.
