Ladies, what is the most wrong size a fitter has suggested you?
I am suggested 85(38) ever so often. This is of course due to EU band sizes not lining up with actual measurements, because of the old way of fitting (in UK sizes it is plus 4, we europeans just have to deal with it even more).
I measure 85cm(33.5"), so ... according to modern fittings (and Portmouth University), I am probably a 34(75) band. But yes, I see how to most fitters it makes sense to put me in an 85(38) band.
And most fitters who then measure my bust while I'm standing up, will get around 117cm(46") and put me at an EU H-cup (UK FF) and it all makes sense to them. Until they put me in a bra, and nothing fits (surprise! 46" is 12.5" bigger than my underbust, so that puts me at 34HH+, and that is without considering my leaning-over measurement of 48.5")
^All this, I don't really blame the fitters, they are following a neat system, that seems to make sense (though I must wonder why they don't see the pattern...)
But sometimes, I just have to think. W. T. F. I wrote a blog post some time ago about a fitter suggesting me "at least" an 85(38) band, which is not too weird (if measuring on top of my clothes, they may get 87cm, or something like that), but then they didn't measure my boobs (which is fine, measurements are not the important thing, the fit is), but estimated me to a EU F-cup (UK E-cup). That's crazy talk. The sister-size of that is UK 34FF (75H), and I told them I was wearing a EU 75L (UK 34HH), so I don't know how they figured so many sizes smaller was the best starting point.
So far, this had been my worst suggested size. Until today (dun dun!)
(yes, I should know not to go for fitters in stores who don't have my size, but here's some explanation:
I went into Triumph looking for some thigh-high socks, and when she looked at the size-chart, she said that for my height (which she guessed right on the cm! Impressive!), they would fit someone "all the way up to 90kg" (198lbs) (I must say, that's a weird size-chart. There are very different thigh-sizes for the same weights!) 90kg is not "all the way" for me, and even if it had covered my weight, I don't think that guarantees it covers my thunder-thighs! (as my user name suggests, my bottom half is pretty much as endowed as my top). She then suggested a plus-size store down the street "who also had bras and things like that".)
Entering just about my favorite subject, I couldn't resist getting a little chat going, so I said that bras too were something I was always on the look-out for. She then said this was the place, and as I asked what sizes they had, she said "Up tp 100"(44) I explained I was more worried about the cup-sizes, as the one I was wearing was 34JJ in British sizes (I must note - Triumph bras has the UK sizes printed along with the EU, so I would expect her to know a bit about them). She said I certainly looked didn't look anywhere near a J-cup, and when I said that 34 was "a 75 or 80 band" (I crack under pressure. I knew she wouldn't believe me if I said just plain 75) and sure enough she said "SEVENTYfive..? No!"
She took to measure my underbust, and said I was a 95(42). Well, that's news to me! I have not gained weight since I last measured myself (which I do several times a month), so I know I don't measure 95cm, so whether she is using both european sizing AND adds inches? She did measure loose and on top of clothing, but I just don't know.... She didn't measure my bust, which is fine, no problem, give an estimation based on the cup I am wearing is fine. But what does she give me? A 95E. That's 42DD, ladies. She estimated my bust to be 5" bigger than my underbust? Never has anyone, even people who admit they don't know 2 cent about bras, guessed me to be that.
I put it on, as much as possible, and show her the results. The cup size was easy to spot, but I also demonstrated that I could pull out the band so much, that there could probably fit an extra person in there. Back she comes with a 90G (40F), and I do the same trick, to which she says "But if I had it in an H-cup (FF), that would fit!" .... "No" I say, and leave.
So, 42DD! That's news to me! What's your most off-size suggested?

I am speaking from my personal experience which is limited. However, Ive seen confirmation of other ladies - bravissimo bands run really snug compaired to freya, cleo and older panache styles, so if you are between bandsizes, go for a 34.
As for the styles, I was looking into alana myself And gave up on it because it can be problematic for full on top. The word is it runs small in the cup anyway so women are sizing up in this one - you might want to go with 34j or even jj?
Cant tell you about the satine much (even though I heard wonderfull things.
I could reccomend the boudoir beau if you'd like more coverage. Id say it runs true to size compaired to freya and cleo.
the 'Oh So Kimono' runs big in the band. it is based on the satine shape, so you should go for the smaller of your band sizes. Now, i had to go up in the cup (30GG TO 28H) but as you seem to have accounted for this in your sizes, i say you should be fine with the satine in 32J
