How many of us?
How many Bratabasers do we have in the community? Mr. BF asked and I couldn't give good answer. I'm curious as well. Jj is there a way to find out?

I don't know how many of you read the entries from the bloggers registered at the site http://www.bratabase.com/bloggers/
But I just added an RSS feed so you can subscribe to their updates and follow from your news reader.

Clearing out my closet. Listed a handful of fairly small bras. Will be listing the padded ones once I get boxes to estimate the shipping weight.

The braswap reddit sidebar has a link that shows weight of typical bras, undies, and boxes that I have found quite helpful and accurate.
MommaK thanks :) I've got a digital scale (and just picked up boxes). I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be smooshing any padded bras in plain envelopes.
Thanks to timbitlover here and a redditor, I will have more than a few bras to try! I'm so excited!
Thank you, wonderful people, for welcoming me here, also on /r/ABraThatFits (and special thanks to SparkleDarkles for being the first person to comment on my first posting on this site!)
I totally look forward to trying these bras on and posting the results here!

Oh I noticed the new listings design today, I like it! I was searching for a 36K bra and thanks to the index sizes it showed as 36:11 instead of 36:15 that I was after so I noticed they were not using UK sizes.

Yes, that sizing nomenclature is useful. I was getting confused about US vs UK sizing when discussing brands I'm not familiar with with a friend who is very conversant in them.
BRA CUP SIZE and BREAST VOLUMN
In wikipedia, at this term "Brassiere Measurement" we see one tab with the correlation of breast volumn, the cup size and the band size.
this tab is limited at 3000cc by boob.
for BIG BOOBS and BBW above 3000cc, I have established this tab of sizes by extrapolation

What is the members and the bra company for verify and confirmation of this tab ?.

Yes, but now I do one, submit, rinse lather repeat, and they all get up
Yeah I can send pics though the mail but they won't upload on here even when I try to do one at a time it won't work. So you're not the only one! ;) Jj might know of something else you can try to get pictures on bratabase.

It is a manual process, not something you do. I was doing it to verify those who were confirmed people/women by some means. Similar to Twitter verified accounts.
So far they have 0 effect on the site, nothing extra happens when the mark is present.
hi all!
i know all the measurements are important-that's why they get recorded- but i'm going to head to the Nordstrom Clear The Rack Sale and i want to try and record some data from the bras i don't bring home, just for the sake of adding to the database. The thing is, i cant be in the dressing ... room for a half hour constantly whipping out the measuring tape to get everything down, and i cant bring my camera with me either. I'm just going to have a little notebook, not a full out review.
So, what do YOU find the most helpful? I'm definitely going to get band length and cup width, along with depth if it isn't a pain, but is there anything else that has a huge impact? Does gore and wing height suuuper matter? are there mega concerns about strap width? would it just be better to take full measurements of a few bras instead? I'm not even sure i could put in partial data, ive never tried.
thanks!

Cup depth relative to breast perimeter seems to be a good one.
do you mean how my breast perimeter matches up to cup depth? im not sure exactly what you mean there, sorry!

I just added the possibility to make @mentions to your listings and also to sizes by index.
This links to bras in size 30:15 or sizes 34:8 .
I don't have a listing to link to, but it should work just like when you mention your bras, just start typing any part of the size or name of it and you should see the option to link to your bra or its listing if any.
I started writing a help page to put more information about what can be mentioned.

Something I've been wondering - doesn't the gore height have a huge influence on our cup width measurements? It seems to me that measuring tip to tip on wires, plunges are going to have artificially inflated wire widths, as it's taking the long route diagonally rather than straight across, if you picture it on a body. Doesn't that make cups look automatically wider, comparatively, if you're just looking at the numbers?

It's something I've noticed too but I don't know how you could get around it while measuring. There would be way more error if you tried to measure straight across the cups for every bra as this would require a lot of estimation.
I think you'd just have to take gore height, wire width and wire length into consideration when trying to determine whether the wires would work.
Another thing about the wires is that different brands have different strengths of wires. When worn, a Freya wire will stretch further than a Cleo wire. I don't care if they both look the same on paper if they're doing completely different things on my body. Would it at all be feasible to add a "stretched band wire width" measurement?
I've definitely noticed this, because I can't use the depth measurement unless i'm comparing different sizes of the same model.
I think a better way to measure projection is to hold the bra cup horizontally, and put a small weight in it. The furthest distance the weight can be from the plane of the wire is a good measure of the projection.
This is hard to picture I realize. Let me add a drawing. :)
EDIT: Oops, I misunderstood. Please ignore.

Over the last weeks, we found a way to help distinguish between seasonal difference in bras so that we can further cluster similar bras and come with better numbers.
There's a new browsing option and a new field you'll see when adding your bras.
In the last couple of years we've seen an increase in brands getting away with sneaking in changes in their models secretly without telling anybody.

No, this isn't a joke I thought that the bra shapes would not be in effect until the breast shapes project was complete. But I saw this (attached link), only on one bra though, on the Panache Harmony Underwired Balconnet (4031)

The current shapes have been doing that for quite a few years actually (more than 4 years O_O). The problem is that to get that data requires lots of input and not all bras have enough users that have shapes set and have proper fit to start building that.
It gets better as shapes start changing size depending by most common, but that requires even more data :-/
Oh, so this feature IS implemented, but there just isn't enough data...Maybe it would be better if people could suggest shapes or something. Gah I don't know, I wish people would add more datas >_<

Just a quick question since I'm on my phone and its been bugging me. Some bras say they have the same cut but aren't apparently the same style? When I look at the bras they all appear totally different. Does this mean the same cut at the top of the cup or are there any other similarities like seams?

Unfortunately, the "same cut" feature on Bratabase is not reliable. At some point someone added a whole bunch of "same cuts" that are not correct, and it would take an age for one person to go through and fix them all. I do fix them when I come across them and know they are incorrect, but I am sure there are many out there that I cannot identify.
What "same cut" properly means is that one style is cut - the pieces, that is, are cut- the same as another, so it should in theory fit the same way. However, not only are these "same cut" lists usually incorrect, but even if two bras were cut the same, the fabrics do make a difference in how a bra fits. Some fabrics have more give than others, and also, some fabrics will "slip" more under a sewing machine foot.
Anyway, I would take "same cut" to mean "similar" at best.
I understand :) It's what I had hoped it was but I know you're right about even just a different color fabric making a difference. It socks there's a bunch of incorrect ones, I guess I should try to watch out for those too. Thanks so much! It was turning me off some bras where I didn't want the same cut.

I just listed three 30G Freya padded half-cups for $5 each. They're all lightly worn, but mostly crumpled from storage as they've been sitting in a drawer for most of the past year. I'm keen to move them on quickly, so while I've listed them for sale, I'd be happy to send someone all three for the cost of shipping ... if they are in need.
So if you, or someone you know, wears a 30G in this style and is in need of bras but does not have a lot of funds, message me and you can have all of them. Note, this only works if you will take all of them - it's $5 each if they are taken separately.

In the course of a few swap conversations recently, I found that I was holding out on my fellow Bratabasians. I had a few bras that had been shuffled aside for "later" and consequently forgotten. That was, until someone mentioned a specific model I happened to have stashed and the magic happened; I was able to score someone a ... bra they badly wanted to try while freeing up some mental and physical space of my own. It was pretty sweet!
And it occurred to me: I wonder if JJ has plans to add a "wish list" feature on that never-ending to-do list? For instance, let's say that I'm lemming for a 32GG/H Masquerade Rhea (I am) since I undergrew all of my bigger ones (and sent them on to new owners). I bet another member has one shuffled aside & forgotten. If I could post a wish for that item, it might remind that person and incentivize them to plug those measurements in so they could sell it to me.
Another idea - maybe the process could be attached in some way behind the scenes so that when User A sets the fit in such a way that it does not meet User A's criteria, User A could be notified if that bra's model/specs meet another user's wish list criteria. That would really increase the percentage of measurements, I think, as well as overall participation within the community.

is there a way to send personal messages that I am not seeing?
You can click on the person's user name to go to their public profile. At the bottom of the left side, there should be a link to message the user.
Actually, you can only send messages to other users under the following circumstances:
* You have over 150 reputation
* The other user has one bra listed
* You have previously received a message from that person
* You both follow each other
If any of those is true, you should be able to send that person a message.
You will find the link to do so where velociraptor mentioned.
This has probably already been discussed before but...I know that everyone probably hates taking measurements as much as I do but love when bras have them. I often find myself wanting to just do a few measurements and then maybe add the rest later or for some bras that are total disasters maybe I'd be willing to add cup depth ... and width but don't want to bother with all the rest before I send it back. So I end up not doing anything at all.
Wouldn't having a few measurements be better than nothing? A minimum of say any three or three that are deemed very important (like cup depth, cup width and gore width) could be required to make sure people don't get too lazy. A system like the 100% complete could be used to encourage people to finish adding the bra.
At the very least I'd like a draft system for saving measurements because as a mom I know I get interrupted way too much to finish most of the time.
I just think there's room for improvement here that would ultimately yield more measurements overall.

I agree. I would love to at least be able to "save progress" or whatever so I don't have to set aside such a chunk of time for measurements. :)
Is it easier to take out the bra and measuring tape two times instead of one?
The measurements don't have to be done all at once, although there are a couple that need to be added together so we can validate that they're correct, wire length, cup width and depth.
Other than that, you can leave the rest in 0 and do it later.
I know that many dislike taking measurements and sadly that's why many don't use the site, and those who did despise the fact that we ask for their help for verifications.
But the work to be done is not in make more fields optional (and have less data) but in making those fields fun to fill out so they don't feel like a chore.

Will there ever come a day on which we can go to our listing notifications and flip a virtual switch to receive notifications for any and all of our recommendations on here? Or is this just the far off dream of an exceptionally lazy person?
First need to make the recommendations work better.
So, there's hope?
I also get asked that question and it is a very difficult question to answer.
The number of registered users on the database is a false number of who are members of the "community" (if one wants to call it that).
There are many users that do not participate in conversation but add bras.
Most of them have a very sparse usage of the site as they only come when they get a new bra every few months and then go inactive again.
Also, users are rotating last year we had a group of users that were very active and now they don't come much to the site. Do they still count for the "size" count?
I can never answer this question, I don't brain like that. Need something more specific. "How many users have added bras ever", or "In the last month" or "Current number of entries on users table", "Total of users with 50+ reputation" "total of users with 50+ reputation that have logged in in the last 3 months and added one bra".
Then again, I suppose that one wants this number to compare with other places, but knowing these details the comparison becomes unfair. It is unfair to compare the activity of users on a site that requires lots of effort to use like Bratabase (measure boobs, measure bras, take pictures, etc) to a place that has much lower threshold like facebook, or twitter. Of course they will have more users because participating is cheaper.
I am unable to answer :S
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=eKwup8UL84w#t=53
A whole page of relevant facts and figures could be fun? How would an active user even be defined? Someone who adds bras, shares adventures and/or interacts with others at least once a month?
