Curvy friendly dresses

I needed something for Christmas and found a link to these guys on Reddit:

I bought the purple peacock dress in size medium. It fits perfectly, defining my waist which gets lost trying to fit either my bust or hips. It's nice to see clothing like this manufactured in the US!

  Call me cheap, but I'll stick to my $20 sweatshirts & $18 jeans..... Then again, I don't go anywhere that would warrant a nice dress....... or any dress for that matter.........so.......... ;-)

• I have a Curvy Kate bottom that goes with the Soda Pop bra that I have. Unstretched, it's 28 inches, and can stretch to 44 inches. My hips are 38.5 inches and 33 inches where the elastic rests. The leg openings don't have elastic, and the material is very stretchy mesh. It fits between comfortable and slightly too large on me because the legs are so open and loose.
  Swimsuit material stretches when it's wet, and the patterns aren't graded any differently than regular panty patterns I don't think. By your hip measurement, I would say 8, but by where it will sit, a 10. If you feel like the butt area and leg openings will sag too much when wet, go with the 8. Otherwise, if it looks like there's a lot of seam binding that would keep it tight, go with the 10. You can always alter smaller. :)

Urkye Retro dress in navy blue (sweetheart neck, short sleeves, stretchy knit), size 38 o/oo. The fabric is a little heavier and more substantial than the Bermuda dress. I bought this 2 years ago and wore it routinely for 2 summers. Minor pilling, substantial sunscreen stains on the interior collar (not visible on the outside). Optional bow belt included.

  Unless you can find a jacket on a site that offers free returns, I would stick to shopping locally. Shipping a leather jacket back to most retailers will cost a lot, given what leather biker jackets weigh.

  A warning about therealreal.com: consignment stores can offer some excellent condition garments, but there will be a lot of stuff that's faded, stained, etc. Shop at your own risk. I only buy stuff from that site if it's described as Excellent or Pristine.

• I haven't seen any, & a quick Google search wasn't fruitful, but it is a good idea! It would be awesome to be able to check sizing discrepancies on jeans (for example) and quality issues before buying.

T-Shirts for Some of the Curvy Among Us

Finally, I've found t-shirts that fit my curvy body (37/27/41). These are nipped in significantly at the waist and hug curves. They are very stretchy 98% cotton and should accommodate a wide variety of dimensions.

The shirts are longer which is great for my physique. The fabric is lightweight but not thin. They also tie dye exceptionally well with Procion ... Fiber Reactive dyes from Dharma Trading Company. They have washed and worn very well. Roughly, $6/each.

• Never heard of this one, thank you. Looks like fair labour, made in Hungary, designed in Munich. I have to try clothing on to know whether it will fit, so I don't usually try mail order garments. But I'll keep an eye out for this one. It would help if they listed finished measurements of each piece.

  It's slightly older, but when I got the tshirts last year, the cut and fabric of the tshirts was the same as in the review.

Dress alteration - of course I thought my boobs would fit!

Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

I ordered a dress for my brother's wedding. I went ahead and ordered my usual size for this brand (in navy--that champagne colour is pretty bad). The dress arrived and I was relieved that I could zip it up past my bust and breathe quite comfortably! The only thing that bugs me is how short the torso ... is on this dress. If I had less boob occupying all the vertical and horizontal space, I'm pretty sure the bodice would fit better. This is where I hope to get some ideas from the ladies here with experience in altering clothing. It would honestly be perfect if I could drop the bodice about 1 inch. Given the design on the straps and the overall design of the dress, what are some ways I could lengthen the strap area? Where's a good place to insert the extra fabric? Should I alter the neckline and change up the straps? My seamstress is quite handy--she can do pretty much anything, but I want to have an idea of what I would ask her to do before I make the trip to see her.

I'm kinda running out of time for an exchange and the cost of returning this dress is probably going to offset half the refund amount not to mention I'm out on the duties I paid to get it here (yay Canada).

Any thoughts on this from those of you who are blessed with some alteration skill and know-how?

• My first advice (that I often do myself) is turning it into a halterneck.. but on this particular dress that would also mean fairly significant alterations to the (pretty!) V shaped back..

  One easy way would be to add a (matching, or contrasting colour if you prefer) wide ribbon closure at the shoulders. Then you can self-tie and adjust the strap length, varying for different occasions. And match the ribbon colour with your shoes for example 😊

  Keep in mind that lengthening the straps will in turn also lower the neckline - if you (and the wedding) are okay with cleavage that's fine of course (:

  A more complicated way to add length to the bodice (without lowering the neckline) would be to add an inch of fabric to the waistband. Again, in a similar fabric + colour or contrasting? Or hidden under a belt. A skilled seamstress could do that, but it also means adding a new zipper (as the zipper length would also increase).

  If you want longer straps but not more bust exposure: adding some fabric along the upper bust line - while also lengthening the straps - *could* also work, but looking at the dress (multiple fabrics, v neck) it may not be your best option 🤔

Paypal Shipping refunds

Can someone tell me how this works?
I sgned up for it when I returned my fairytale bra, but I didn't get the refund because there was something I needed to provide to paypal, but at this moment, I don't remember what it was.
I'm sending a ra back to Ewa, and it's coming up at $22, so I want to get this back

I know there was 2 or 3 things I had to provide for paypal-- what were they, and how do I send them? (explain like I'm 5)

• I hope they work out for you! I've been looking at their clothing for a while, but have not ordered from them yet. I have ordered from Urkye twice and have been happy with my purchases, though the dresses I ordered needed to be shortened quite a bit, as I'm not quite 5'2". I'm also waiting on 2 tops from Biubiu, since they had a 40% off sale for Black Friday weekend.
