  1. Alana Bra (AU01)

    Didn't fit

So yeah first off the bra is much too big for me. However if I would have got a 34JJ or J, I'm not sure I'd have enough projection to fit into it.

    Anyway.

I don't like this bra. I don't like meshy bras very much, they are often stiff and scratchy. This is that. The extra lined seam around the inside of the band doesn't help because it's not soft either. Only the material covering the wires is soft. if you are sensitive to fabrics then I'd not get this one.

    It has thick sturdy straps.

I thought the gore will be too high for me but actually, the wires ... don't go all the way up in there? The full gore height is 11 cm but the actual wires stop 1 cm before the top. So where the bow is, there's no wires.

Speaking of wires, I think this is the widest bra I've ever tried. I know it's too big so it could be that too but honestly I don't think it would be much less wide in my proper size either? And the band is pretty snug aswell, but I think most Bravissimo run very TTS, like if they claim to be 34 band then they'll only stretch to 34 and that's it. So if you're between band sizes , size up. I think I will if I order Bravissimo again.

I can't say much else about the fit as it is too big for me, and I sized up because on Bravissimo's website it says it runs small. Ignore that.

    • Ehm ... :D I think they are right to recommend to size up. Sorry to disagree. Imo Alana runs smaller than most other styles. But that could also be my personal fot shape struggling with this more fob friendly cut. On the other side if Brav recommends it they do it because of lots of exprierence fitting customers in this bra, as they don't recommend sizing up on every other bra as far as I know.

    • No the bra is not good on you. I'd avoid it, it's also too wide set in general, too tall and wide. If you could size down to 34HH maybe the width and height be good for you, but then not be big enough in cups (hence "running small") .

    • 1

alidieux , Bravissimo's recommendation to size up makes sense to me if your bradrobe has a lot of bras where the stretched band length is 2 to 4 inches longer than the stated bra size. If you are used to bras that stretch that much more than the stated bra size, you should size up in Bravissimo. My search for the perfect bra stopped when I found the Alana. It's not truly perfect but for me, it's been the best fitting, most comfortable bras I have ever owned.

alisa , Alana may run smaller than other bras but I feel they are more TTS in the band and cup, consistently so. In comparison, Bratabase measurement data for a 38JJ Fantasie has a stretched band length of 43.7 in and a cup depth of 17.6, while a comparable Alana would have to be 42L. With Alana and Bravissimo in general, what you see is what you get.

    • alanagirl Yea I can understand the band thing but I find most bravissimo bands to be the same stretch level and don't really stretch further than what the band size nr is :o but for example if I compare with the 34KK darcy which is ofc also huge on me, I get similar gapping in that as the Alana. That's why I thought it's not necessarily that it runs small. Although what alisa say make sense too, for fot shapes i guess they would need size up etc.

Yeh so i now measure fully 34J so next time I order stuff I will order in this size and see how it goes too. Instead of overestimating my size. It will make reviews better too, knowing that my size might be correct but then you could clearly see faults in shape better, but also order 1 size up also. But I'm putting together another order of random polish brands that they have at lace lingerie. But maybe I don't give up on bravissimo just yet :)

    • alanagirl
yes I like how Bravissimo bands are tts! Good for 30 and 28 band folks who are sized out in lots of other brands were these sizes fit like 32.

Actually when I was first properly fitted 8 years ago my first bra was 32H Tango. Obviously I was lower weight back then -- so I soon discovered it prefer a 30HH/30J, then tried few Cleo bras and I had 2 that fitted me in 28J (!) because the bands run so large. I might been 29-30 underbust back then.
But for me Panache /Cleo was *it* back then and I found the sizes to be tts esp. the Tango which is their staple similar to what Alana is to Bravissimo.

I have Panache Tango 30K, it still fits me currently. But I struggle with 32K Alana and would size up to 34 band in Arla!

it might be like with the vanity sizing, in rbrand you are XL in another an M so does either run large or the other run small?

Also I think that Alana is the bra with most firm upper cup edge, so I it tends to cut in easily (if one doesn't have one that is clearly too large.) So I imagine fitters gave feed back that Alana cuts in on a lot of customers therefore must run small. From Bloggers we know Brav. staff usually fits someone first in Alana to check size - imagine someone comes in and tells them I wear 32H (but wear a Tango that "runs large") they get out 32H Alana but it doesn't fit... fitter and customer now think "Ah Alana runs small".

I can understand that you think the opposite way as Alana was to you your first best fit like Tango to me was back in the day so you compare the other way round.

    • alidieux Don't give up on Bravissimo just yet. I also had to try many over the years to find the best. Yeah maybe get only 2 styles but in 2 diff. sizes :) so we can spot the issues better and hopefully help you.

The color and fabric of this bra is beautiful. It's a rusty orangey brown color, fully lined lace bra. The lining is sheer though. I LOVE this color lol.

The whole top part of the cup (lace and lining) is stretchy, but the bottom of the cup only the lace fabric is stretchy but the lining is not, so basically the whole bottom cup isn't stretchy. It is so soft, the lace and the top cup lining. It has an elastic seam at the very top of the cup also.

It has very sturdy straps, not soft like the Arla, more like Alana.

It's so pretty and nice I wish ... it worked for me but it is very shallow and tall. It's the opposite of what I need. comfortwise wearing it it's okay, even though it's incredibly tall, I didn't find any problems with the armpit area but then again I didn't wear it for very long. The wires are very wide.

For a better review of this from someone who fit this bra, see alisa she has a few of them!

Thanks for mentoning me :) Ah I wish this bra would have worked better for you! Such a nice fall color.
I actually think there isn't a bra that is stretchy in lower cup too (unless some soft cup like Ahh bra or so) because that would not support well?
But it's good to know that in this style the top cup is stretchy up to K-cup!
The bra is much too big. I think you could size down to 34J (if it weren't too shallow for you :( ) Also straps on Lacey are centered and on you they look wide as balconette straps, that shows how the bra frame is overall much too big - if 34J came with deeper cups I think it would be a winner.

    • Agreed 100%!

And yes the stretch cup makes sense of course. The Freya offbeat says it's made of lycra and from the description seems to say that the whole bra is stretchy lol. Will have to see once it gets here haha.

    • https://www.bratabase.com/bra/dn2q7/ here I tried a too big Lacey - was even too tall for me!

    • I wish they made more bras in this fabric but different cut. so nice.

I added a picture of the bra in daylight next to Arla for comparison/white balance. hopefully it helps.

    Didn't fit

I already reviewed 32J - Bravissimo » Lacey Bra (LN486) this Paisley one is based on the same cut but with a different fabric. I find this fabric is more soft and delicate than on the regular Lacey where the Lace on top can feel a bit itchy. Lacey Paisley comes up to K-cup with a stretch lace top. It is lined in larger sizes. It has 2 hook closure up to HH-cup and even in 30JJ. This 32J has 3 hook closure which I prefer.

My shape: full on top, projected, center heavy, tall narrow to medium wide roots

I bought this about 1 month ago ... and it looked like it fits. Currently it's a bit on the smaller side as I went up 1 cup recently. The top section of the cups is very forgiving but it's not flimsy. There is one of these tiny bands going at the edge of the cups. Those tend to cut in and it does slightly on this bra. The shape is totally similar to the regular Lacey bra, it's tall, a bit shallow on bottom and gives a super rounded slightly minimized shape. Since the bottom of the cup is a bit shallow I get some slight wrinkling there as I'd need more projection there. The band runs true to size and similar to other bras by Bravissimo as it stretches to about 32inch.The bra is very comfortable.

  4. Alana Bra (AU01)

    30K

    Didn't fit

The Alana bra has worked for me at one specific size in my journey. It's a good basic bra that comes up to L-cup and there is no extra linings in larger sizes, you get what you see on the picture. So since it worked for me in the past, I try to make it work again. Obviously it's not gonna happen.

I tried this bra in 32J which was too small in cups. This 30K is still too small in cups! (I wear 30JJ / 32J in other Bravissimo bras!) So it's safe to say Alana does run really small. I recommend sizing up by 1 cup ... size at least. Also the bra is just not made for full on top boobs, there is not much room in the opper part and it tends to cut in. In the past I got the best fit when I sized up 2 cup sizes in Alana compared to my Panache size. The band runs true to size but is more stretchy than usual Bravissimo bands (most I had run really firm). I could close this 30 band easily but it feels just a little tight.

Now I could try it in 30KK or 32K, but I won't. I give up. On my front picture I tried to show just how wide-set the straps are on this 30K. It's not going to be better in a larger cup size. I already feel like the straps want to slip off anytime when I wear this bra. So while the larger size would offer more room in the top of the cup it would probably be too wide in construction for my frame.

I tried this bra in a 34JJ and 34K and I had so much gaping at the top I could basically fit another half a boob in there so I just assumed this bra was meant for very FoT . Funny how for you it was complete opposite :D What a weird bra.

    • That's weird indeed! It was usually known to be not as roomy on top as other bras. Bravissimo even recommends on their site to size up in Alana.
The bra totally behaves weird... I tried it on again and it suddenly did not cut in and fits?! it was in the same 24h I took these pics, so it's impossible my boobs just shrank 1/4 cup or what??? Now on the fence if I keep it.

I purchased this off of ThredUp. In the listing it was only sized as a “Medium” with measurements of “30 inches” laying flat. So I had no idea of what size I was getting and took the gamble and purchased. Sadly this isn’t anywhere near my size so I will be returning.
But, it’s pretty well made for what it is. The inside bra doesn’t seem to show through the outside. The tank top fabric is soft and of a good weight. Straps are fully adjustable. The band fabric is made of a very stretchy mesh with a foam material cup. I can’t comment on the fit and support, but this band was really stretchy so I don’t see this as something you’d wear for great support. But on hot days when you don’t want to wear an actual bra, you can’t go wrong.
I liked it so much I purchased a new one on sale directly from Bravissimo in my size.

I've emailed ThredUp customer service several times recommending they put extra information/more accurate sizes on their Bravissimo listings. They always say something like "workers take information directly from the tag", no matter how many times I tell them that size 8 or whatever does not help me know whether or not it will actually fit.
If that top says 34FF on the tag, consider sending them a picture. Maybe if enough of us complain/explain how the sizing really works, they'll be more accurate in their descriptions.

    • 1

summersunshine Yes! That’s a great idea. I’ll send them an email and make a complaint. I’ll also point out the fact it cost me money to ship back something I wouldn’t have purchased had the label been listed. It would also be nice if they listed I’d the size was a US size or a UK size when it came to clothing. Some people aren’t aware there is even a difference.

  6. Zara Bralette (LN605)

    Fits

Zara is a bralette, made of stretchy lace. The sizing is more like in underwire bras which is very nice, cup size and band size separately! I usually wear 28F / 28FF in underwire bras, or 30E / 30F if the band is tight. The customer service from Bravissimo adviced me to get Zara in 28E-F and the fit is spot on. Cups don´t cut in, band is perfectly supportive, cups stretch slightly and the shape is very good - not too pointy or droopy. The band rolls up on me though. Beware that straps are NOT adjustable at all, so it is a hit or miss. For ... me it was perfect.

So I like the Zara bralette very much! What I don´t like is the cut of the matching shorts. I don´t know why, but at the website there is always only a front photo of matching bottoms - I would definitely need a backside photo as well! I thought the "short" cut would cover my buttocks but it doesn´t. The cut in the back is like in brasilian briefs which I don´t like - I might cut up the shorts and use the lace parts and sew something more comfortable myself. Size M in true to size in my opinion though.

Welcome to the Zara club!! :D I don't like the matching pants too. While I love brazilians these are uncomfortable and hardly ever wear them. I foung better ones in Tesco to match my black and lilac bralettes (and sooo much more cheaper)

    • 1

I really like the look of this bralette. It looks good on you. However, the straps not being adjustable would be a deal breaker for me since I'm so low set/tall. Too bad because it looks comfortable.

    • 1

Oh this looks great on you! I really like the look of this Bralette.

    • 1

      Looks great!!!

Is this the new Cornflower colourway? I didn't like it on the website, as it looked like a washed out blue, but on your picture it looks like a lovely shade of grey. There are mixed reviews about sizing up or sizing down in this. I might end up ordering two sizes.

    • 1

Yes, it is the cornflower blue. I was afraid it would be too blue to my taste, but it has this greyish tint. I think the colour is seen best in the photos where I´m wearing the bra. The ones with only the bra look too gray - it is not that grey at all in reality.

    • 1

I was also confused by reviews and asked Bravissimo about sizing advice. They told me that it runs small and is not made in my size and discouraged me to try it. (I'm a 30JJ/32J)

    • 1

I love the color. It looks the same as on my Lacey bra it's also called cornflower blue.

    • ^^
That´s too bad :( But the Zara is available in HH-J cups. If the cups in bigger sizes are the same, then maybe 32HH-J could fit you. I guess you´ll find out by only trying it.

I actually googled "cornflower blue" because English is not my native language and I so hate pale blue colour. I am very pleased with Zara´s colour :)

I wish I can trace out the pattern in this bralette, or else I have to wait till it is old enough to retire - and then hack it.

    • Maybe I still risk it one day... but I'm still building my everyday staple collection after my weight loss. First have to get the basics. Although Zara is a good basic too. I was surprised they talked me out of it, I thought more likely they try to make a sale. I'm not sure if I can trust them since they gave me false information about other bras too. I mean it's obvious Zara comes up to J cup but they said it does not come in HH.

    • Wow I just read again what you wrote. They told you to size down from F/FF to E/F?! Interesting.

    • 2

@Fairy89 Thanks! I've been waiting for a new colourway forever. I already have a black bralette. The neon orange was sold out in my size and I was afraid of the white not staying white for a long time.

    • 1

^^ Yes they told me to size down! Note: both sizes were available, 28E-F and 28FF-G. They told me the fabric stretches and the person who wrote to me said she also wears 28F / 28FF in other bras and Zara fits her in 28E-F.

  7. Darcy Bra (LN260)

    4
    like

    34JJ

    Didn't fit

The Darcy bra is a full-cup style based on the popular Urban Rose, it's a 4 part cup construction with side support. The upper section of the cup has stretchy lace, but it is lined with a non stretchy fabric in this size. The cup edge has a little stretch. The wires are quite narrow on this bra. 18cm in 34JJ! (other Bravissimo bras I measured in the same size, had wire widths up to 20.5cm!) The fabric is very soft and silky. It's actually my favorite fabric that Bravisismo uses.
The bra gives amazing uplift and support.

    How it fits me:
The band feels too big and rides up ... just a little. I would already close it on the tightest setting for support. The cups are a tiny bit too big, there is slight wrinkling on top. I think that the wrinkling is caused because the cups are a bit too tall for me in this size. The wires are as usual a bit too wide on the sides and I get some wrinkling there too. (I don't think the wires are bad, they are better than on most bras I tried)

I used to love this full-cup style when I was around the size of 34KK/34L. It gave my super tall, FOT boobs the best support and coverage. You really need a sturdy bra at that size and the Darcy is one! Now that I lost weight, I also lost some of my upper fluffy fullness. I can barely fill these tall full cup styles anymore and had to size down a lot. I also think that I should size down to a 32JJ in this bra. On the other side I'm a little scared that the really tall top section could push my boobs down if it's not too big anymore. Another thing that I noticed that Balconettes with a less large upper cup section might work better for me at my current size and shape, and that traditional full cups are just too tall for my boobs now.

    Additional measurements:

Cup height of the lower cup half (from wire to where the fabric meets the lace) : 18.5cm
Cup height of the upper cup half: 9.5cm

For comparison: Melrose has a lower cup half or 17cm and a upper cup half of 11.5cm, the apex of the bra is much lower than on Darcy. (keep that in mind , not all full-cups are the same even if Bravissimo claims they are all the same shape modelled after the Melrose)

This is a new wireless sports bra from Bravissimo and I'm so happy I tried it, it looks great and gives me the least bounce of all sports bras I've tried so far! (When adding the model to Bratabase, I seem to have marked the bra by mistake as wired while it's wireless, and I can't change it now..)

Regarding the construction, this bra is a racerback, and so this makes it a bit more difficult to get it on and off, especially with the band having four hooks and eyes per row. The straps are padded and are very comfortable as they sit very high on the shoulders. ... The cups are made from one single layer of non stretch fabric. There is a triangle shaped mesh part connecting the "cups" which is stretchy. The fabric on the wing and band is also stretchy. On the inside of the cups, there is an internal sling which goes kind of where the wire would be - starting from the gore, under the cups and up the side of the cup. This helps to provide some separation despite the bra being wireless.

The materials feel soft and good quality. I've only tried the bra on so I don't know how they'll last with wear or during exercise. The fabric is also quite lightweight, although the bra provides excellent support. I'm looking forward to wearing this in summer, as it's significantly thinner than my Panache Sport.

Regarding sizing, the band fits true to size, but the cups are generous. Bravissimo bras usually fit small in the cups, so for the Alana or other full-cup bras I would wear one cup size up (36H) and get a similar fit. I would recommend to get your usual size in this bra or maybe even go down a cup. For me the cups are too roomy so I'll be going another size down.

Regarding the fit, this bra has the best bounce control I've had in a sports bra! And I've already tried the Panache Sport, Freya and Enell. The shape it gives is very minimised, not super lifted, but very round. I'd say it's mostly a compression bra, but with a bit of encapsulation due to the inner slings. For me, the overbust measurement wearing it is 6cm smaller than wearing the Alana or any of my usual bras. It doesn't give a uniboob and I could easily imagine wearing it with a swing or flowy top to get a more streamlined look.

My best fitting bra. It is so great, that I deconstructed one and made it into a pattern and have made 3 bras so far from it. The band runs a little large, normally I would be a 32, but had to get a 30 in this style. The cups are foam, 3 seam constructed. The inside feels like cotton lining and the outside is satin. The satin is nice since it allows my tops to slide over them and not get caught up and wrinkled like outer cotton fabric cups. The gore is nice and low and is great for my close set breasts. I also love how simple the style is. I love me a basic.

This is my second Bravissimo bra - I was weary of the brand since my first bra, 30FF - Bravissimo » Tanzania Stripe (AU41) was way too big in the cup. This one fits very nicely, the cups are filled and the band is nice and snug (altough I got it used, so I think it would have been a tad too small for me in the band if it was new).

  11. Luxe Heart (PA28)

This is the most comfortable and well-fitting bra I've found. I think I fit into Bravissimo bras quite well, as their underwires are fairly close together. As in the Alana, I have slight overspill at the top and slight wrinkling at the bottom due to fullness at the top, but this isn't a huge issue for me. This bra is sultry and gorgeous, with a lovely rounded shape. It has "additional lining" above an H cup (the black upper panel), which I personally prefer to the sheer. It has gorgeous detail of heart-shaped beads on the ends of the bow on the central gore, which I really love. ... It is valentines themed, so I hope they come out with more colours for this. Some people find the material scratchy but I don't find it a problem - it is made of a stiff material which I find very supportive. The straps are only partly adjustable due to the ruffle decoration, which is ok for me but won't work for everyone. The band seems to run slightly tighter than in the other Bravissimo bras I have, but not enough to size down in.

Highly reccomend to all boobs that like to feel very secure and aren't interested in showing too much skin.

    The pluses
+ It gives lovely uplifted, front and center shape (a bit pointier than Cleos, but very youthfull and perky https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> also known as the "green shape from Bras I hate blog)
+ Support level is superb - it gives me boobs of steel https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" /> no jiggling AT ALL!!
+ perefctly snug band, very comfortable and wide, makes me stand up straight
+ straps adjust all the way
+ Very stable construction - thanks to a fairly high, but quite narrow center ... gore
+ coverage perfect for everyday wear
+ lace doesnt look cheap (apart from the lacey bow in the middle that can be easily removed)

    Cons
The straps. They kill me to the point of wanting to cut them into pieces and attach freya antoinette straps. I can wear this bra only with silicon strap pads that - as it turnes out - i am alergic to.

    Room for improvement
    - Upper part of the cup isn't made from stretch lace (actually thought it was streatchy, that's why I ordered it so a bit dissapointed)
    - I would apreciate wider/higher side wings to cover up some bulging
-There is about an inch of empty room in a wire channel - even thogh that's probably more comfortable to wear under arm, I can imagine causing it wires to pop out after time.

I maybe should have gone for a 30J - I went against my better judgement :/
Aside the cups being tad too small (this is too small by standards of all ladies that think Bras I hate sometimes wears too small cups) and giving me a bit of a quadboob when I pull my shoulders back, it is certainly wearable (with a bit of tucking in action).
    Im keeping this bra because
    - I feel a cup up might compromise the boobs of steel feeling https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
    - I hope it will streach a bit with wear (following Curvy wordy's/ Elizas advice)
    - I hope to drop a few pounds
    - I'm too lazy to send it back https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

I like this bra, the Niya is the only bra that comes anywhere near to matching my shape but the bigger sizes - Jj+ are much bulkier and that’s a shame also the seams show through my clothes.. I guess they’ve made it like that to give more support to the larger size but it’s just not as attractive.
I do like the wider straps and the blue colour and pattern but I don’t like the height of the cups.. they are lower in the smaller size.
Overall it is comfortable, pretty, supportive and washes well.
I have very wide boobs that are full all over and sit high on my chest so it’s hard to find a bra where I can fill the bottom of the cups properly, even in this one.

    • The cups look already fairly tall on the model too so I guess it only goes worse in large cups.

I’m definitely loving the over all look of this wireless bra/bralette. The cup is a two part cup with a vertical seam up the front. The outside is the cup is a beautiful black lace with a beige mesh under it. The part that caught my eye was the sheer black center panel. The straps are a wide elastic with a firm stretch with silver hardware. The band is a thick piece of elastic all the way around. There is a 3x3 back closure.

Unfortunately I felt this size ran a little big on me. The cups cut into the side of my armpits. I’ve reordered in a cup down to get a better fit. Definitely crossing fingers the new size works. It’s a very beautiful addition to my bra collection.

This is an Okay bra. It's not my favorite to reach for, but I am glad to have it, when other (nicer ) bras are in the laundry. Size wise this bra is old Bravissimo sizing, it has been discontinued but you can find some left online for discount prices. The band is firm and true to size. The wires are average width and height. I get some slight cutting in on top, because this cup shape is rather closed on top which is going against my FOT shape. So this style is more suited to FOB shapes.

The cups have a somewhat pointy shape but it isn't as ... bad as on 30K - Bravissimo » Marguerite Bra (LN205) or 32K - Bravissimo » Lola Bra (LN497). The Zoe does belong to this pointy family but it's more moderate. The shape is forward projected and uplifted. The bra feels sturdy and supportive all day. My biggest issue aside from the shape preference (I prefer a more round shape) is that the underwire starts to hurt me at the side if I wear it more than a few hours. So it's not a full day bra for me sadly. I can help it by putting some cotton pads under the wire. I don't really know why it does that - maybe a shape issue? Because apart from that the bra seems to fit.

I'm in between sizes in Lacey currently. I have many reviews up on different sizes of Lacey so will keep it short here. This is the 32K which has an extra lining so the top section is not stretchy. The band fits fine and the cups are bit roomy in the upper cup but since they are quite shallow, the gore doesn't tack. I am between sizes as the 32JJ is currently a tiny bit small. Lacey is a staple in my collection, it is an easy to fit in bra if you are full on top with tall roots but a bit tricky if you need lots of projection because the cups are a bit shallow. It feels supportive for full-day wear. Will update this review when I wear this bra more, as I currently only wear it on PMS.

This size did not work for me. I have the same bra in the Lilac Marbe colorway which runs a tiny bit larger and has less stiff fabric than this one. So Lilac in 34JJ fits me better. So keep in mind that this colorway might run a bit smaller / tighter than others in the same size. This bra was also too shallow in cups for me, not enough room at the gore for it to lie flat. I also had some cutting in on top. It felt overall very stiff in fabric and uncomfortable. I would size up 1-2 cups in this style and go with your bigger band size if between sizes or size up 1 size.

Currently wearing with a bra extender as although passes the band test, feels slightly too tight for comfort. This may just need wearing in before removing the bra extender. Gives great shape in clothing. Generally comfortable, however, centre gore wire rubs against sternum after wearing for more than a couple of hours. Looks lovely
