This bra is fits my close-set, projected, very full-on-top breasts well. It gives a nice rounded, front-and-center shape with great lift.
The straps are a little wide, so they cut in a bit, but I have that problem in every bra I've tried so far, as I have large breasts and fairly narrow shoulders. However, this can become quite painful by the end of the day.
I don't have any problems with the underwire poking me in the sternum or armpits like I do with some other Panache bras. The gore is fairly narrow, but not narrow enough, as I have almost no room between my breasts. The wires are quite firm, and can be rather unforgiving in this respect.
The band is pretty firm, but not unusually so. My ribcage is 33" snug or 30.5 break-the-tape tight, and the 32 fits well. I am pretty squishy, and my breasts are pretty heavy, so I prefer a snug band.
Cup height (measured up the center outside): 6.25"
I ordered this in both 28FF and 28G, having read that this model can run small, but now I think I'm toeing the line between 28FF and 28G (or, more accurately, 26G and 26GG) anyway.
The 28FF gives better (phenomenal!) cleavage for my short-rooted, high-set breasts; the 28G acts more as a full-coverage bra than a half-cup on me but fits better overall, I think. There's no gapping and it seems to follow the shape of my breast better than the 28FF, which feels like it's cutting in at the top a little prematurely, giving me some quadboob and thus enhancing the ...cleavage factor.
I wish I could have a good fit and good cleavage out of the same size, but I may end up keeping both of these for different purposes!
The band is nice and snug and the straps are thin and fully adjustable, which is wonderful for my high-set chest. However, I've noticed that the straps start to hurt if I have them as tight as I'd like on most bras (perhaps because they are so thin). I still get excellent support if I loosen the straps, so this isn't an issue.
The lacy part on the top of the cup doesn't show through tight, thin t-shirts, so this would be a good alternative to the Freya Deco Half-Cup, especially if you're sized out of that like me--I've been looking for something like this for some time.
Also, I have noticed that the thin fabric on the outside of the molded cup seems to catch on EVERYTHING--fingernails, jewelry, etc. I don't think this will affect the look of the bra and I can only tell when I get close (or when something catches), but it is something to keep in mind. This is a great bra! I should have ordered a 30DD, but I'll use the 30D when I want a "push-up" bra! This is quite uplifting and flattering. It gives me a rounded, soft, "perky" shape that looks great under tight t-shirts. The uplift effect works beautifully under low-cut shirts. I find this to be very similar to my Cleo Lucy, however, I can't make an accurate comparison between the two bras because my Lucy is a 30DD. While the 30DD does fit better, technically, there are times when with push-up style I get with the 30D Marcie is just what I need to look and feel good without padding or bulky contour cups. One strange thing in my Marcie is that the underwires try to twist on top of each other at my sternum, and they poke me painfully when they do this. Hopefully the bra just needs to be broken in. Overall, Cleo's unlined bras are exactly what I've been searching for my whole life for unlined bras. Truly remarkable.
I really like this bra, despite it not being a perfect fit. The fabric is a little stiffer than say, a Marcie, but after wearing it a bit it breaks in and becomes very comfortable. The fabric also seems to offer a little more support. The bra provides great lift and gives more of a "front and center" look than the Marcie as well. This is a good bra if you need a decent amount of projection. The straps are extremely comfortable.
I'm still trying to narrow down my exact size, but this one's close. I think I need a 34 band due to tissue migration and perhaps a cup size larger.
Appearance: Dark blue, unpadded three-section cup bra. Little pink flowers on the cups and a pink bow on the centre gore. Flower embroidery on the sheer upper section finished off by a line of cute little dots running along the upper section, both in pink and purple fading to baby pink. This "fading" actually put me off a little at first but the colors suit me very well.
Pros: - Perfect, Apple-Like, Gorgeous, Amazing Rounded Shape! I love this bra! - lots of uplift - fully adjustable straps - lightweight, a little sheer but no nipples on show - centre gore doesn't poke and fits my close-set breasts - the wires don't poke my armpits ...(I'm petite, height-wise, at least) - doesn't show much even under tight-fitting tops https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> - so far, I think all of the fashion colors are pretty
Cons: Now this will be somehow a long story. I've had tons of issues with Lucy, even though it is the best-fitting bra that I own. First, some things that I can't change about Lucy (only Panache can do that *not-so-subtle-HINT*) - The band is rather narrow and has only two sets of hooks and eyes. Curvy Kate makes nice bands with 3 sets of hooks and eyes and even though the fit of their bras is simply WRONG on me I can tell how much more comfortable wider bands are. - The wires are too wide. I have space left at both sides but since I bent the wires I don't think it affects the fit or the support of the bra.
But now I will come to the main issues that I had with Lucy. These are my personal experiences and might not affect you at all. When I purchased the Lucy I deemed her pretty much the best fit I could get from a bra. The cups fit, no fourboob, no band riding up, no wires poking me in the armpits or the breastbone. After wearing it for a couple of times, though, the bra started chafing and rubbing and leaving angry red marks that itched like crazy. I never experienced such pain from wearing bras before. I only recently discovered the reasons for this thanks to Emily from dimpseybrafit.blogspot.co.uk, whom I feel truly grateful towards. Do check out her blog. - The wires are only lightly padded. This means if you don't have much on your ribcage to cushion you from the wires, they can very uncomfortable. I could resolve this issue mostly by bending the wires. That doesn't make them any more padded but at least they fit the shape of my body now. I first bent the wire to make it curve where my ribcage does, then I bent the ends of the wires so that they now face outwards a little. - The band is little too loose for my 27.5 inch ribcage. Which is why it started moving around on my back. It didn't ride up but it was loose enough to cause friction. I need to wear it starting on the second hook. And this may sound incredible but as soon as I ditched my extender (which I used to lessen the strain on my skin while still being able to wear a bra - didn't work) and tightened the bra, I felt better. My skin has recovered and I can wear Lucy all day, if necessary. It still isn't the comfort bra of my dreams but it has become one of my favorite bras and I wear her regularly.
What I wanted to mention, too: I would buy another one when this one dies, maybe in white or another fashion color. (Only.... why does everything have to be purple in 2013?) I had a chance to try the black Lucy in 30HH once. The band was of course too loose and rode up but I experienced quadboob even though the cups should have the same volume as those of my 28J. Maybe the black ones run a little tighter in cups.
UPDATE: My boobs grew a little, so I quadboobed out of Lucy. I used BrasIHate's center gore alteration to get a some more space. I took in the center gore only a tiny little bit, probably not even one cm, but that was enough. A little goes a long way https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> Still, this alteration changed the cup shape, and I would prefer being able to just order a 28JJ. I could try the 30J, but altering a band is much more complicated than just taking in the center gore. Cleo, why can't you just make bras up to a K cup? Sigh. Read more 652 more words
Cleo Marcie gives me a super uplifted round shape. The bottom of the cups is a bit more shallow than for example on a Cleo Alexa. However the top of the cups is very roomy which is good for my full-on-top boobs. The cups do run quite generous since I need more like a 30K / 32JJ these days, the 32J still fits. I get some kind of in-cup-quadraboob which as far as I know is an issue that is quite common for this bra. In my case the slight in-cup-quadraboob is not visible under a t-shirt therefore I just ignore it. The band is quite firm but I ...guess it tends to stretch out quite fast. The band fits well on the loosest hook but when I wear it a second time (before washing) I need to move to the middle hook.
What I didn't like: The shoulder straps are too seperated and tend to cut into my arms. (However I have this problem with almost every bra) The edge of the straps feels razor-sharp when cutting in. (why it only gets a "meh" for comfort) The bra could be so much more supportive if the band was wider & it would have a 3 hook fastening! Dear Cleo, please consider adding 3 -hook fastening on your GG+ cups! So I really like the looks of this bra & the shape it gives me, but It won't become an everyday bra since I prefer wider bands + 3 hook fastening on my everyday bras. Read more 143 more words
I love this bra. Took a bit of a risk ordering it from an eBay seller who doesn't take stuff back, but needn't have worried - it's a perfect fit and feels just right in every way. I didn't even get typical "George-wrinkles" with the Marcie (wrinkles in the thinner material in the upper part of the cups that a lot of people with wide root shallow boobs get in Cleo Georges and similar styles). I had read that the band runs very tight but I didn't find this to be true compared to other unpadded Cleos - so far I've only tried it on, though, so I can't say if the band would feel uncomfortable if I wore the bra for a longer time. (All this refers to the original, red Marcie.)
After I ordered the Cleo Meg, I had one of those "I made a HUGE mistake" moments. I thought for sure that it would be absolutely terrible on me, given (what I thought was) my breast shape. Trying on the Meg led me to question my shape, because I can actually fill out the top of the cups. What is this madness?
The Meg is just a really cute bra. I love the colors and the pattern. Before I started shopping online for bras, I had no idea that such whimsical patterns existed on bras in my size. The fabric for the cups seems really stiff, but washing ...the bra seemed to soften them up a touch.
I find the Meg to be quite comfortable, and the band doesn't seem too stretchy, though it stretches out to about 31". I can use the outermost hooks rather than having to tighten them up. The gore doesn't dig into my chest. The underwires go up into my armpit area, but this is a good thing because it allows me to scoop in that extra ... stuff around my armpit area. It doesn't go up too high and stab me in the armpits. I am somewhat short-waisted so finding a bra that goes up just far enough on the sides WITHOUT digging into my armpits is a chore: they are either too low or too high.
The shape of the cups are different from any other non-padded bra I've tried on. They do this thing where it rounds out the breast rather than giving me pointy boobs or squashing them outright. While I like the roundness, there's this odd slight dip at the top of the cup where the ribbon is. I believe I read somewhere someone comparing this shape to a shortened duck's bill, lol. Other than this bit of weirdness, I am happy with the shape. It looks great so far underneath my clothes. When I scoop and swoop, I fill out the cups. I don't experience any quadboobing when I throw my shoulders back, or raise my arms. I have to really make an effort to hunch my shoulders to get gapping. I am still a little confused as to why this bra would even work for me -- maybe it doesn't and I am being delusional.
I do wish that the straps weren't set so far apart. I have to keep them pretty loose or else they will start to dig into the front of my shoulders, above my armpits. This is probably due to my narrow shoulders. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> To prevent this, I keep the straps somewhat loose and I try to scootch them inward toward my neck. Other than that, this is a great bra for everyday use. Read more 357 more words
I bought this bra because Bravissimo said it would appeal to people who liked the Alexa. I liked the Alexa. I wasn't sure about the crazy print on this one, but I decided it's like having party hats under my shirt and that's kind of fun, especially since the majority of my other bras are on the plain side. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but some bra diversity is good too.
When I got the bra out of the box, I could see that the band was not as long as the band on the Alexa. I wondered if there was a mislabeling ...incident and I'd been given a smaller bra by mistake. I couldn't even hook it at all. There were inches between the ends when I tried to put it on. I had to wear it with an extender. By the second time I wore it, the band had stretched to the point that the extender became unnecessary. I used to live in bras with too-tight bands, telling myself I'd lose weight and they'd fit. They never stretched out to the point that they'd be comfortable. This did. I actually worried that it might keep stretching to the point of being unwearable but that has not happened at all. A 34HH might have fit better, but I still have some weight to lose so I didn't want to exchange it.
The shape of the cups is not like the cups on the Alexa. I think the Zia is a little bit less round, with a slight pointy shape that is more pronounced at first but quickly softens up to become more round (but still never as round as the Alexa). I had a hard time keeping the straps up at first but that was probably due to the extender.
As with the Alexa, I haven't had any underwires poking under the arms. I had the same gap at the top of the cups at first that quickly filled in as my boobs settled. I have the same lack of quadboob, and I have the same lack of cleavage. This is not a bra to be worn with a boob shirt. I only wear it with t-shirts. Worth noting: Even though it has a little fancy frilly thing at the top of the cups, it is totally fine with t-shirts. That lays flat and does not show through, unlike the fancy frilly thing at the top of the cups on the Ewa Carmen, which I ended up cutting off because it was so stupid.
In short, it's second best after the Alexa in terms of fit. I think the print is far better looking, although it's not really the sort of thing I'd ever seek out. It's festive and doesn't look like the stereotypical bra for big boobs that your grandma would wear. Huge points for that. Read more 398 more words
This is my favorite bra of the moment, despite the fact that it isn't a plunge, nor is it perfectly round. It gives a pretty round shape. I can't wear it with a boob shirt, but it's good for wearing to work and such places as cleavage to the eyeballs aren't necessarily appropriate anyway. It has shorter underwires than the Cleo Lucy and I don't get stabbed, ever.
The one photo I have up at the moment shows slight quadboob, but there's actually none. I put this bra on and I have what seems like a lot of extra space at the top ...of the cups. A little bit of shifting and a few minutes of letting boobs settle and it's filled out, but not overflowing. I'm in the habit of doing a quick quadboob check at every bathroom break and I have yet to see any in this bra.
The first time I wore it, it was a bit stiff. This is the first bra I was really aware of breaking in. That extra little bit of fabric at the central gore, I thought was uncomfortable at first because I have a tummy, and I felt like the bra was getting pushed up by it. But after wearing it a couple times, the fabric loosened up and I haven't noticed it again.
The boobs are set a little wide apart for my liking but I need the band length so I haven't taken in the center. That'll happen for sure if my band size goes down again.
I have to say I'm not wild about the print. It's not so much the paisley as the colors. I love the bright pink. The rest is not my favorite thing ever. Okay, I think it's kind of ugly. But it's so comfortable and gives such a great shape, and is so reasonably priced, that I just live with it.
Great shape, great support, comfortable, affordable. That's all I really ask, so I love it even if it's fugly. Read more 246 more words
Edit Aug. 22: I had the opportunity to try the Lucy again in a 30FF and 30G in a shop. The 30F I reviewed here was definitely too small for me. I was thrown by the fact that the quadraboob manifested in the softer lace section rather than over the top of the cups. Watch out for that!
Sadly, I didn't walk away with a new Lucy. I have about half a cup size difference between my breasts, and I found that this bra really exacerbated the unevenness in a way that no amount of strap fiddling could banish. I think this ...is because I'm between sizes, and because of the low point of attachment of the lace to the cup.
Original review: This is a beautiful bra, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. The deal breaker for me is the way in which the lace section joins the cup. My breasts - on both sides - bulge into the lace, creating a peculiar quad-boob style effect that is quite visible under clothing. I will be (reluctantly) returning it.
The band is tighter than most 30's I've tried, but as I'm a small 30, it's still very comfortable for me. The cup is a touch small; it fits my smaller side perfectly but there's just the slightest bulge over the lace on my larger side. The overall shape is lovely; rounded but not minimized, and it doesn't look wide at all from the front. Read more 148 more words

Having fallen in love with Sasha and Alexa I knew I had to have Olivia the second I spotted her on Bravissimo. My only question was a matter of "in what size?" ...I knew the current SS12 Alexa ran a bit bigger in the cup than her predecessor AW11's Sasha. When I contacted Bravissimo the response was she fit exactly the same as Alexa. However after trying on the 28GG several times I found the same hesitance I remembered with Sasha last Autumn. It was a dilemma between cup sizes. I finally received a 28H and although the 28GG and 28H both fit I am much more comfortable in the H-cup because I'm more confident I'm safely covered from any potential spillage which may lead to readjusting throughout a day's wear.
I wish I'd originally took Alexa in a 28GG because her band is not as tight but at the time I would never have thought I could be a 28-band so I never considered ordering.
30G fit well while 28GG is much more snug. These fit me exactly the same in the cup the only difference is in the band. 30G also fits nice although I would anticipate it to stretch out like my original 30G Alexa which has pretty quickly and only snaps back from washing (after one or two wears in a row). The 28H is the best for me as it fits just like my original 30GG Sasha and now a 28H as well.
Also, I'd be happy to have a drawer full of non-pink bras. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

This review is for the color "Yellow". This is my first soft cup bra, and at first I was a little afraid to try it because I have breast implants and most sewn cup bras just don’t fit me right. They usually are too pointy and cut into the top of my breast causing the dreaded double-bubble. After reading all the reviews, here on Bratabase, I ordered one. I have to say this bra is wonderful. So now on to my review. The under-wires are the perfect shape for my breast and come up just high enough on the sides and don’t poke me in the arm pits at ...all. The center gore is the right height and has just the right amount of space between the cups. The cup provides the right amount of lift and gives a rounder shape, but still looks natural under clothing. Since I’m really not used to the thin fabric and have a fear of headlights glaring at people when it’s chilly out, I slip in my Wacoal No Peeks (size M=C/D, in case anyone is interested in what size to get if you are a 28GG) and that takes care of the problem. The band fits me best on the middle hook, but that seems to be the norm for me and my 26 inch ribcage. I also do not get any of the side bulge flap-a-doodle thing around the armpit. The straps are the perfect width apart and don’t slide off my narrower shoulders. Overall I think I like this bra well enough that I want to purchase more in other colors. The color I got is yellow and I just love the fun cheery look of it. I also want to add that since this is my first non-molded cup bra I find it absolutely awesome that I can fold this thing up flat and put it away. All my other bras have to be stacked in such a way that the cups don’t get dents in them. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. ^_^
*Update 7/12/12 - This band is stretchy and I have been wearing it on the tightest hooks. I will be taking this bra band in to fit as a 26 band size. It’s my most comfortable bra to date. Read more 274 more words
It is really hard to find a bra which fits me in both the back and the cup. In the case, the cup is too small. There is spillage though and I think I could have tried a GG, but the band in the 28GG was way too big. Even on this one the back is too big - it's not so big that it is unwearable, but I have to fasten it on the tightest setting already. And even on the tightest hooks, I can fit my hand under the sides and it rides up my back. My back is 25", so finding a bra that fits ...my bust and back is difficult. The wiring at the centre of the bra does tend to dig in a bit, but compared to others I have tried it is not too uncomfortable. A smaller back and bigger cup size would provide more support and a less flattened out shape, if this existed in a 26H I think it would be perfect. As it is the back is too big and the cup only just fits half of my breast, it's very literally a "half cup", so my nipples sometimes pop out of the top! Overall the fit is not good, but I love everything else about it.
edit - sadly this is now completely unwearable as the double-boob effect has reached new levels of terribleness! It's really unfortunate because it's a gorgeous bra and "true" balconettes are a great shape for me. I really wish the bands in this bra were smaller as then I would try a 28GG or even 28H, but there is no point trying a new size when the bands are so loose.
The Rihanna bra is based on the shape and style of the Juna bra by Cleo. The Juna comes in Ivory, Nude and Black and the Rihanna is a Teal/Pink/Grey print that reminds me of a pixelated 80s video game... or a 80s watercolour. I can't place it but I like it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
I tried on the Juna and Rihanna in a million sizes and couldn't get the shape to work on me - puzzled the hell out of two fitters - and by luck tried on a 28H.
I usually wear a 28 or 30 band in Cleo and in this style ...I most definitely needed the 28 band - the fabric is soft and stretchy and if you're between sizes definitely go the smaller size. The Juna model feels loose on me in a 28 band, but the Rihanna feels good in the 28. The fitter said that the Juna runs a bit large in the band due to slightly stretchy fabric.
This shape - padded balconettes that smash your boobs to your chest and just end without a 3rd, horizontal top section - work terribly on my shape. The Juna and Rihanna was no exception.
Both the 28GG and the 30G (my "normal" sizes) give me OK coverage but the moulded top of the cup kind of cuts in a bit leaving a lot of fleshy stuff pushed up against the lace edge in the middle but the lace kind of poofs out towards the center gore. It's a mess. And if I bent over I'd start to fall out.
The lace edge on the Rihanna is tighter than the lace edge on the Juna. Going up a cup size gave me more coverage with the cup ending a bit higher up the breast allowing the tighter lace edge to hold me in place a bit. The Juna lace just kind of stuck upwards and didn't follow the contours of my chest at all.
The fitter (the Juna was her favourite bra) assured me that end of the moulded cup and the lace edge soften up and sit better after a few washes. Will have to see how that goes.
I found that in my normal size - the 28GG - the top edge of the bra just finished at a bad place on my shape.
This is my first and only 28H in my wardrobe.
I also find that the straps on the Juna/Rihanna very wide on my narrow shoulders. That said, this is nicely padded around the underwires so it should be comfortable to wear.
*Update* I wore this for a day of shopping with my niece (a toddler) and my sister and I found I kept falling out of the top of this bra. It shows under white/pale tops. Good for a day at the office wearing black perhaps? Or on the weekend? Not a great everyday bra for me!
Thanks a lot for sharing your full review and comparison with other Cleo bras! I am looking forward to trying this bra but puzzled about the fit of current Cleo styles as many ladies say they all run a little different from each other.. even "style sisters" in different names/patterns. :)
That's true - but I think Freya, Panache, Fantastie all differ just as much. They keep the same styles but sometimes just changing the fabric can alter the fit - this fit between the Juna and the Rihanna which look and feel identical save for the pattern fabric used was a perfect example of this!
Initially anticipated this style to fit exactly as the Cleo Sasha: http://bra.pe/MqA/ because the style is exactly the same from the printed mesh balcony construction down to the bow and lace detail. The one major difference is sizing! I first ordered 30GG expecting it to be perfect but it is actually made too big. In comparison, I wore the Sasha about a day before Alexa arrived so I know the cups are made larger. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> So, I also ordered this 30G.
Although there is a bit of a material issue in the ...cup, the 30G fits slightly better. Overall, the 30-band fits well, the material is excellent, comfortable, and most importantly there is no gaping or wrinkling. The only funny thing is how the 3-part seam is sewn together. It's not exactly "wrinkling" but there is an obvious pucker from the seam. I hope this will dissipate with a few washings. The center gore almost sits flat on my sternum but floats about .5cm away and I am forced to allow it because I really want to like this bra. Again, although I'm pretty disappointed there is a big fit difference between what could have been identical fitting season-to-season styles I am aware this is somewhat commonly occurring. Sure, disappointing for a non-UK customer who has to wait weeks for delivery let alone CANNOT try this style on in ANY mortar store. The 30G is the best fitting size between these two.
Stay tuned for photos for comparison.

Purchased 30G + 30GG for comparison. My first few Panache/Cleo bras were in 30G but most felt too small in the cup in different ways based on the styles (see my reviews for Cleo-Alex unlined-cup plunge, Cleo-Jude moulded-cup plunge, Masquerade-Maia balconette). It's mostly difficult to find any stores in my area which actually choose to carry above a G-cup even though Panache makes them in some styles.
I took a chance ordering because the design is just so beautiful: the entire construction in purple feather-print is mesh but not see through like most soft cup wired bras.
This balconette style "fit" in both sizes however it became an ...issue of comfort in deciding which size to keep. The 30GG seems to envelope my breasts better especially when I lean over and it feels more supportive as there's just a touch more fabric in every area. As so, the straps are thicker and more on par as the width of a typical FF-G cup Freya at about 1.8cm. Gives me a pretty good shape which is more rounded than any Freya I've ever tried.
My only complaint is the gore stitching is much too itchy on the inside and so it needs a solution before I wear it again.

Whoever voted this down needs to rethink their happy trigger-clicker-finger. Took a bit to finally want to wear this bra for the first time. In that time it was worth stating "Review forthcoming..." as a temporary marker. So, you're welcome for being honest.
Gorgeous bra. Seamed but smooth, structured but not thick. The lace at the top of the cups might stick up if you don't fill the cup completely; I need to "lift and drop"to fill this bra out properly so the lace rests on my skin. The lace is smooth, though, and if the bra's filled in properly it doesn't bunch or stick out, so it's fancy-looking but layers smoothly under clothing. I appreciate that.
Note, at the center of the bra I had to bend the top 2" of the underwire a few degrees away from my sternum. Before I did this, the underwires dug into my sternum and left raw red marks. Since the adjustment however I've had no complaints.
For being thin coordinating print straps, the straps are quite strong and nonstretchy. Not a bra for physical activity but great for everyday, walking and office wear.
Not for wideset breasts—the underwires touch in the middle.
