Aww man, it's too big. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> I love the colour, and oh my golly, it's leaving my armpits alone!

Edit: It's poking into the side of my right breast. WHY?!

Edit: The gore is also poking into me like on my Jasmine. Is it because it's too narrow?

Edit: I seem to have grown into it.

    • oh. my. gosh.
Exact same thing happened to me. The center gore poked only into my right breast, and chafed/poked hard enough to leave a small bruise + rub burn. Not sure what causes this to happen; is the cup size too small? is the band size too small?

    • The band feels good, maybe a little tight. The cups are definitely too big.

    • 1

The gore is digging because the band is too tight. Try wearing it with a (non-stretchy) extender and see if it helps. Marcie runs about 1 band size tighter than regular UK bras, so sister sizing up is a good idea.

    Didn't fit

Update - Sold this bad boy, decided it was just too dang small & shallow for me.

I agonized over this bra, and what size to order (because my 28FF Cleo Juna does not fit), and I really wanted the black & pink but really needed a nude T shirt bra too. Turns out the nude color is almost an exact match to my skin tone, and the lace detail is cute. I'm not a huge fan of plain beige bras, and this solves my T shirt bra hunt. After picking apart every measurement possible, I decided my Juna was more of a shape mismatch instead ... of a cup size problem and went with the same size. Definitely glad I did, because a 28G would have been too big.

Material: I find it kinda scratchy, but I have sensitive skin, so YMMV. It's not unbearable though. Hopefully a couple washings will soften it.

Wires: I know this is a hard bra to fit into for most. For me, the wires are the perfect width, and confirm my very strong suspicion that I need wide wires. They stop on my sides exactly where my breast tissue ends, and enclose everything in the middle.

The band: - at first glance, I thought "holy short band batman!!" But I can fasten it on the loosest hooks, and it feels like it will stretch over time.

The straps: VERY short. I have to leave them as loose as they go. I consider my boobs to be fairly low-set on my chest, so keep that in mind if you give this bra a shot.

The cups: I don't fill out the bottom, although it's close. There is slight gapping at the top when I reach forward, but I think that is standard with molded cups like these. There is zero spillage in the middle - again confirming I need wide wires. The *only* nitpick I noticed is I have *very minor* quadding on the inside edges of the cups. I added about 1/4" of length to the band with an extender, and it solves that problem and also allows me to shorten the straps a little bit. So, even though I can fasten the band on the loosest hook (maybe even the middle hook) and it's not particularly uncomfortale, I believe I will use the tightest hook on an extender until the band stretches enough to correct this on its own.

Wow, that's great news! It's good to hear about the times Cleo Jude worked well for someone. That is valuable info!

    • Thanks! I was pretty excited to find success with something. After I read enough reviews stating it was way too wide, I had a feeling it might work for me haha! I thought it was important to write a good detailed review - it felt like this bra got a bad rep because it's a difficult shape. I'm one who tends to shy away from products that don't have good reviews but I told myself that doesn't mean much in the Land of Bras, everyone is different, it's not like I'm buying a microwave.

    • I love this bra a little more each time I wear it. I put it on today, and put a very thin white cami on over it, to wear under my sweatshirt. I realized this bra is so close to my own skin tone that if it weren't for the pink lace trim, you wouldn't be able to see it at all - and that's saying a lot for the thinnest white shirt I own. The tags had to go, though. Usually I don't have a problem with tags on a bra band, they're pretty soft. These drove me bananas. Something to think about if you have super sensitive skin, although it's nothing a pair of scissors can't fix.

This bra seems like it was nearly made for my breasts and shoulders; it's my first bra with my updated measurements post-tissue-migration (36GG --> 34H --> 34HH). It's a great balance of volume and band size for me (35/32 underbust ; 45 standing ; 46 leaning ; 45.5 lying) and fits true to size. I absolutely LOVE the appearance of this bra with my breasts - very rounded and perky looking. I want to walk around shirtless in public in this bra becuase I love the look so much. I am considered full all around (tinge of more upper fullness?) and projected - I'm still trying to figure ... out root/wire width although this Lily is comfortable. I'm a shorty, too (5'2"), so the fully adjustable straps, shortish gore, and not-overwhelming wing height are exactly what I need to feel contained and supported. If I had to choose a gripe about this bra it is that the band is relatively thin (2 hooks) and can struggle to fully support the wires/outside tissue unless my torso is straight and shoulders are square, hence the one notch down in quality/comfort. When I swell during that awesome time of the month, I anticipate some quad-boob as the closedness (is that a word?) of the top is only just too much for my tops because they sit very flush now at normal size.

  4. Kali Balconnet Bra (7561)

5/9/15: This review is for the color Cobalt Blue.

The fabric on this is a on the stiff and scratchy side, but I hope it will soften up after a few washings. The bottom portion of the cup consists of two layers of fabric. The wires are ever so slightly wide for me, but nothing I can't live with. The band is on the tight side but fits my 26" under bust extremely well. Rarely can I wear a bra on the loosest set of hooks. So if you measure 26" or below then this might work for you. The cups encase my breasts and give me a natural ... rounded shape. The straps are fully adjustable and have a firm stretch to them. Over all this is a decent bra and I can see myself wearing it often in the summer.

*I purchased this bra in hopes it would be as fabulous as my Lucy. But I have to say this bra is a little lower in quality in both fabric and fit. My Lucy bras were softer and better constructed. I also found that this bra was much smaller in the band compared to my Lucy despite the fact they were both a 28 band size.

    • Thanks for the heads up about quality and fit. It's surprising they didn't fix the tight band issue and maybe even worsened it when they made this "new" bra… On every online shop I saw the Lucy bra, they said to get a band size up from your usual, I'd have thought they would fix this on Kali…
About scratchy fabric, that's unfortunate because I loved the feel of the Lucy's… Has it softened with washings like you hoped ?

    • ColorfulVoid I didn't keep these. I washed them a few times but they just didn't feel as soft as the Lucy. Also, I gained a few pounds and they felt too tight in the cup and band. Over all this would have been acceptable in a better size, but it's not the Lucy.

    • I actually love the rare, super tight, snuggiest of the snuggest bands, maybe this will work for me. I'll have to give this a try. :D

I quite like the fit of this bra. I've had it for two months now, and the whole cup fits, it's not too high or wide on the sides, and the band is pretty snug. The only thing I don't like is that the gore is a bit too wide. My other Cleo bra doesn't have that problem, though.

I think I am going to stick with Cleo bras, as they seem to be the best fit for my shape and size.

Thank you for that, interesting that as someone e very full on top it worked for you. I am a little full on top yet Bravissimo Alana is ok on me ( not as good as cleo) and I wonder if that is because I have shortish roots? Would that apply to you too?

With regard to the gore, I have heard that this one is very easy to take in. Don't know if that is something to consider?

I too am becoming a Cleo girl!

    • 2

Me too, maybe Cleo is good for short roots. I've only tried their Neve plunge so far but if the others are anything like that I'm def gonna be a Cleo girl :)

    • lilypw You could sew the gore together if it's too wide for you. I did that on my Lucy and it fits SO much better now! :)

    • Yeah, I just pinned it and it makes a huge difference in fit. When I sew it I'll add a picture.

This bra is so adorable and comfortable! The cups run significantly bigger in the Parrot print 32F than in the Aqua colorway of the same size, which is my absolute favorite. In fact, there is a .2 inch difference in cup depth which is absolutely huge in effect. The cups gape pretty terribly in me in this parrot print, whereas the Aqua is amazing.

This bra is adorable and the fit is almost perfect! Unlike all of the other bras I've tried on in my search for my first "bra that fits," the material where the cup meets the strap DOESN'T dig into my armpit flesh! The top of the cups flares out a smidgen on my breasts, but the fit is so close I might just keep it anyway.

The band fits nice and comfy on the loosest hook, No pressure, no digging in.
The wires don't dig in either. The cups are filled perfectly when I stand up straight, no gaps or overspill. The ONLY issue is when I lean over or slouch the cups gape a lot in the sides which is weird but. It's a super molded cup and doesn't really bother me as it isn't even visible in a shirt.
I purchased this bra new with tags and I didn't even need to adjust the straps! and I normally do.

I had purchased this bra on advice after asking about t-shirt bras for my shallow, wider rooted breasts. I knew Cleo ran small in the band and my 28DD/E ones were quite tight, so I went with 30DD. It's perfect. The gore tacks, the straps don't want to fall down, there's no pressure anywhere, there's no quadboob on my larger breast and no gaping at all.

It fits well. Since I'm slightly FoB it's half an inch to an inch of showing my aerola on my larger side otherwise. I wish the straps were closer together. It's a solid bra with lovely construction. I like the very delicate pattern even though it's nude and hides well under clothes. No headlights.

I bought this bra in a 34D and altered the band down to a 30E.
What can I say ... the bra is just amazing. It gives a perfect shape (rounded and slightly uplifted), it's an awesome halfcup shape - not too high-coverage, so it's great for summer and tank tops.
The padding is thin and soft, which makes it super comfortable to wear.
The turquoise color is pretty cute too.

It's a pity Cleo discontinued this cut. Masquerade has two sister-cut-models (Masquerade Georgiana (5471) and Masquerade Angie Balconnet Bra (7171)) but the padding on both is stiffer and I'm not too fond of their designs.

      Hey there :)
I don't have any before-pics, but the alterations I made are pretty simple. I just altered the band using this awesome how-to by Hagane: http://www.bratabase.com/adventures/entry/1560/
Instead of sewing by hand I used a sewing machine. That's it. :)

I might consider adding some pictures later ;)

Melissa makes my boobs like 2 sizes bigger, they are round like apples and the bra itself is very cute - it reminds me of traditional Slavic embroidery.

    • I follow your blog with great interest, Staaldrigstill. The front and 3/4 view shots are very helpful. I would love to see side shots, too. The view from the side, turned 90 degrees away from the camera, often reveals shape problems not visible in front or 3/4 views. That's the view that helps me decide on a bra the most.

    • learningaboutbras I'm so happy to hear from a reader! I don't have many of those shoes because i have to be in a very awkward position to take them, but I'll definately try to snap some for upcoming posts. Thanks a lot for the advice, I very much appreciate it. Is there anything else you'd like to see on the blog?

    • I understand it's hard to take 90-degree angle shots. There are tools to set up your phone and use a remote control to get difficult shots, but those cost money.

If you get matching panties, I'd like to see front and back views, even if you're not wearing them. Maybe measurements would help, too.

It's hard to find pictures of the back. Figleaves and Nordstrom are pretty good about showing the back, but even they sometimes don't get a good shot. I have wasted a lot of money shipping back panties that were too low cut or too roomy or not flattering in the back. Now I know never to buy Cleo panties. Most Ewa Michalak panties I can't wear. I'm still learning which other ones work.

Oh, it was really funny when you wore that pushup bra and you said your classmate didn't learn a lot about ancient Roman architecture that day! LOL!!!

    • Acctually my phone doesn't have a camera haha. I have one of those old things with buttons and I've had it for five (soon six) years, it's bathed three times and I've dropped it contlessly. I always thought why should I replace it if it ain't broke, but it just never brakes! (I'm also terrified that this day will come because these new phones cost a fortune!). Sorry for the off topic. I'll try my best to get some side shots, and if all else fails I'll ask my SO to take them for me :)

I never thought of that knicker aspect. I have some sets coming up, but have only photographed the back if they were extra pretty, but now I'll have a reason to do it otherwise, thank you!

Haha, I felt a bit bad for the boy. I've never really considered the fact that other people would be affected by what I wear. Maybe school uniforms could serve a purpose after all?

    • I think this bra looks good on you. I can't see anything that looks too big. I only see it looking a little small in the cups. You could wear a 28G in this bra, because I see it cutting in on top of your cups, but I don't see any gaping at all.

    • Did you like the 28FF pink version of the Marcie?

    • Nayanya It's mostly prominent when I move. The pink fit me much better.

  14. Maya Balconnet Bra (7471)

One thing I like about knowing my perfect size in a giving brand, and knowing the brand is consistent with sizing and shaping, is that I have a lot less risk that the bra won't fit me.
This is what happened with the Maya bra.

The shape it gives my breasts is the usual "Cleo shape", which is a super rounded super lifted and perfectly supported shape.
The design and fit is almost the same as the Cleo Lily Balconnet Bra (7351) but the top of the cups is sheer and adorned with a funky colorful flower embroidery.
There is just a little more fabric under the wires as well, ... but it's not uncomfortable at all.

The "wings" of the band in the back are made in a solid navy fabric but I noticed the fabric on the back of this one is a lot softer and smooth that on my other Cleo bras, which is nice.

The design of the Maya bra is an absolute fun one even if I'm not completely sold on the flower embroidery on the top of the cups: as another user said here, it's like it doesn't belong with the animal print apart from their colors.
The animal print is fabulous ! In person it looks a little less bright that on the stock photos though.

I love this bra, but there is one or two things that I like less:
    - I gained a little weight in my boobs (not anywhere else, argh), so there is a little bit of quad-boob on my bigger breast (the left one). As it is only noticeable by me because I'm becoming an expert in bra fitting (lol), I'm keeping the bra and I'll pray to loose this extra bit of boob fat...
    - The line at the top of the cups shows under tops.
    - The sheer top part of the cups is weirdly sewn, or maybe it's just not as elasticated as with my other Cleo bras, because instead of the über rounded shape I get on the top with my other bras, my boob tissue gets a little squished and flatten o.O It's hard to explain, and not noticeable by other people, but it looks a bit weird. Maybe it will go away with a few washes and wear...

Now, all Cleo has to do to completely win me over, is making more narrow shoulders-friendly straps, a band with rows of 3 hooks and maybe an everyday grey cotton bra then all of my bra dreams would be realized !

    • Did the flattened shape to get at the top ever go away? I have the same issue with my 32HH - Cleo » Kira Balconnet Bra (7781), which has the same kind of mesh lace panel at the top.

    • Wow, excuse the poorly structured sentence earlier! My iPhone likes to autocorrect things all weird, and I forget to check haha.

    • The fabric did loosen a little bit with wear, but I think it's part of this bra's shape…

Cleo's supposed to have fairly wide wires and Lucy good for FOB shapes, so I decided to give it a go. I think I'm pretty happy with it.

I did not expect the fabric to be as thin as it is, though. Maybe it's just because it's white, but it's VERY thin. I can see my nipples pretty clearly through the material, and they are not much darker than the rest of my skin. It doesn't bother me much, but still, that was slightly unexpected.

Aside from that - the band fastened without any issues; it's a bit snug but it's also brand new so that's not too ... surprising. It's not uncomfortable by any means. No real wrinkling on the cups other than a bit on my smaller breast but I've come to expect that anyway. Wires sit wide enough that they don't seem to be on any breast tissue - they're comfortable. Both the gore and the sides don't come up high enough to be annoying; still higher than I want but I guess I need to just cave and buy some plunges for low-enough gores.

The shape is...wow. It's very high and very rounded. Like, it gives me serious "cakes on a plate" boobs. I knew that Cleo is known for high rounded shapes but I kinda didn't think my breasts were possible of the shape they're in while wearing this. Looking at the pics I took, it almost makes the front of my breasts look slightly flat, but I didn't really notice it like that while I was wearing it.

I wish it had a three-hook enclosure instead of a two-hook, but oh well. I'll live, I suppose.

Overall, I'm thinking this one will be a keeper. It's cute, it's comfy, and I need more than one bra that fits me properly.

Adorable 3-part unpadded balconette style. Front and main part of cups is a red-red background with scattered (random, not ordered) white polka dots. Back and straps are solid red. Top section is white mesh with red embroidery with unfilled circles in the field and a wider circle-y pattern (rows of filled and unfilled circles) along the edge. Pale yellow with yellow polka dots ribbon bow at top of center gore. Scalloped edging at the bottom of band that matches the scalloped edging on bothsides of straps. Straps are fully adjustable with a pattern in the center lines. Elastic along entire bottom of band.

(Acquired new w/tags; sewn-in size ... tag is the rip-off kind)

Wore it for the first time today. Here are my thoughts...

SHAPING: Definitely pulls my boobs front and center inside my frame.
BAND: Too tight new. Wearing with an extender. Hope it loosens after being worn a few times.
WIRE: Is sturdy and not too high for my short torso/high-set boobs.
CUP DEPTH: Almost perfect. Fits my right boob fine. Tiny bit of flapping at top of left cup.
CUP WIDTH: At rest is too narrow, but when wearing it encloses my boobs fine.
APEX/CUP HEIGHT: Seem fine, which is crazy to me.
STRAPS: Slightly too wideset, but stay on my shoulders easily. They don't cut into my underarm crease and are on the inside of my narrower-than-it-should-be frame.
AESTHETICS: I LOVE this pattern. Red + polka dots + geometric lacey is perfect for me.

OVERALL: I'm loving this bra on the first wearing.

This bra is comfortable. That's the first thing I noticed. It lifts and centers the breasts a lot. I think the lift is what makes it feel comfortable. My breasts feel supported! I like the color and the thicker fabric feels sturdier than mesh.

I would say this is a good bra for women who like to keep their breasts within their frame, if that makes sense. Mine aren't that big or wide--or naturally centered, for that matter--so this extreme front-and-center position looks weird to me. Plus it gives me a really pointy profile because the cups are so deep.

I'm ... still undecided about keeping it because of this. On the one hand, it's pretty and comfy and supportive so I want to see if the pointy-ness will relax with wash and wear. On the other hand, I know that the depth has a lot to do with the shape and that can't be changed... unless I alter it. I'll be reading this obsessively for a while to see if I can muster the courage to try to alter it: http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2012/08/how-to-make-pointy-bra-round.html?m=1

  18. Lily Balconnet Bra (7351)

I declare Lily a perfect fit for my projected, even top/bottom but centre-full boobs. Wires circle my breast tissue almost perfectly all around.

The band runs only slightly looser than the Marcie family of cuts (it's brand new but closing it on the second hooks feels better), and in my regular Cleo size, everything fits perfectly except the gore does not tack. Going up a cup size (keeping the band the same) resolved this, and now everything sits where it's supposed to be. And the colour scheme - the navy colour with the red, green and blue parrots, the pink/orange straps and mesh detail on the cups, and the lemon yellow bow, topping it all off: it's adorable. I love this bra!

  19. Melissa (6991)

I love, love, love the Melissa. It's a perfect fit. It's the most perfect fit in all of my brardrobe. My boobs fit neatly into the cups, it has exactly the right amount of projection, immediately at the wires and at the centre gore, where I need it, there's no tissue escaping anywhere and the top edge lace lies flat on both of my breasts, even on the smaller one. I don't even get angular boob like I do in Marcie in the same size. The band is a perfect length on the loosest hooks and doesn't slip down, ride up or cut in at all. It's also ... unbelieveably comfortable - if it weren't for the support and uplift I wouldn't even know I was wearing a bra. I also did the ultimate test by wearing it to a very rowdy punk rock show and jumped around like there was no tomorrow. And guess what - everything was right in its place at the end of the night, without ever readjusting! It's possible they hired unicorns and fairies to make this bra. It's seriously that good. I also adore the blueberry print and the gorgeous lace at the top of the cups. I'm in bra heaven.

  20. Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831)

    Didn't fit

Brings the girls up to new heights. Material is a bit scratchy. The seam for the underwire on the right side has a weird sharp edge that cuts my arm every time I try this bra on. I can't decide if it's tight or if all the bras I've owned up to this point have just been too loose in the band. I think I could go up a cup size if they made a K.
