I found this bra on Zulily and decided to try it after hearing about how narrow and projected it is. I personally don't agree with either of those statements.
I find the wires to be way too wide (almost an inch and a half wider than my Ewa Michalak SM bras). It is also shallow enough at the bottom that the cup visibly collapses and has empty space. I love the look of the bra, and its much prettier than I expected. I'm a bit dissapointed with the fit though.
I agree in our size range curvy kate is not narrow and deep .
Ivp I knew that in general CK is usually wide in our size range, but I had heard good things about this particular model. I guess UK brands version of narrow and projected is still not narrow and projected enough for me
Darn! It is a pretty bra. Hopefully you can still get some use out of it :)
I think in the G-H size range ppl have been saying that. oh well, glad you tried so I didnt have to!
Yes it looks very tall, wide and shallow-based in this size range. I'd be curious to see measurements to compare it to other brands.
In the 30H it is significantly narrower and deeper. apparently it is not true in different size ranges
wendybien I added measurements. I'm very short rooted, so I'm not sure if its a tall cup or if it just looks tall because its on me. The width measurement is definitely wider than my other bras but it also doesn't take into account how soft the wires are. The unstretched band measurement is mostly cup, so with the soft wires there's some wire distortion (I even tried it with an extender and that doesn't help). So it fits wider than it measures if that makes sense
Sounds like the stretchy band and soft wires are exacerbating this problem then.
I fell in love with this bra while browsing Amazon, and it was on sale in my size. The sale was a major factor in ordering since I hadn't had much luck with the last Curvy Kate bras I tried. I'm so happy that I decided to try the Ellace, it is an amazing fit for me. It gives a great round and lifted shape without being minimizing, and is very comfortable.
Looks fantastic!! This is my most comfortable and supportive bra: the elastic!!! I SO hope my size's price DROPS soon, too. So glad you like Ellace, and got a GREAT price! :-) :-)
Oh. I've had great results using red as a nude--crimson may work. I'm certainly willing to try :-)
I'd like to try Ellace, too. Great fit for you!
erispe I absolutely love this bra, and I'm picky about unlined. It's also the only non Polish bra that I am wearing on a regular basis
OK. I'm convinced. Let's see that pay-pal balance :)
I'm totally in love with the bandeau style for bikinis, but given my small band/large cup size range I pretty much resigned myself to the fact I'd never have one for myself. Then one day when I was longingly fawning over some bandeau bikinis, I found this one in my size and had to snatch it up while it was on sale https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Online, the color can vary from a light blue to a light green depending on which site you're viewing it from, but it's really more greenish. I'm not big on the pattern itself since I don't typically go for floral ...designs, but it's okay. The band's definitely a tight 28, which is a-okay with me since I hover closer to 26/27 inches anyway, and the tightness provides more support. Despite it's tightness, it's very comfortable due to the soft layered material the whole bikini is made of. The cups are an average width, but still not narrow enough for me. It can be worn in four styles; strapless, normal straps, cross straps, and halter. The loop to attach the halter strap can be cleanly tucked away behind the gore when not in use, and stays there pretty well. The straps just barely adjust long enough for me to be able to wear it in a cross strap style, but that's my go-to style for sure. I haven't been brave enough to wear it strapless yet, as I get a little more sag than I'm comfortable with, but it would likely be okay to do so. The gore and cups tack pretty well, and although I was worried about the click-into-place style hook in the back, it's stayed secure so far.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it, and definitely stoked to have a well-fitting bikini after years of wearing bikinis so small they basically just covered my nipples. Read more 207 more words
This is my first Curvy Kate unlined, and let me tell you, I'm loving it! I've been wearing it for about three hours, and it's very comfy! I have some significant asymmetry and this bra is taking it in stride; it looks great on both sides. It's got a very natural look and feel, but not in the matronly full coverage bra way. It's more of a low and wide bra. It looks great under wide scoop and square necklines. It isn't bumpy under a shirt. My right side is a tiny bit pointy, but otherwise, this bra is very ideal. Band is firm, straps supportive, and cups ...wide enough for my average width roots. It's fitting right in my infra mammary fold, which is a challenge because my lower root shape is kind of flat, so I have a small space at the bottom of a lot of cups-- not this one! The only other ones that fit right in there are Cleo Ellis, Bella, Lily, and Meg. So my new Gia has just joined an exclusive club.
EDIT: About a year later, I have bought about 10 of these in various colors and sizes as I've dropped pounds. It's my best everyday bra. Read more 96 more words
Okay so I just got this bra the day before yesterday (Jun 10). Before I say anything else, let me state that I have not ever found a bra that fits me mostly well. I usually wear a 30J but I'm somewhere between a 28JJ and 28K. Mostly because of my full on top breasts. I find that I have to wear bras with stretch laces to accommodate them, but even then I can have some serious spillage going on.
Okay, on to the bra. I got mine in black and champagne and I love the look of it. From the little beige/champagne bows against the black strap. To the ...elastic lining at the base of the bra. It provides a nice contrast that gives an oomph to the overall look of the bra. Material wise, it feel very sturdy.
On to the fit..Remember how I said I was pretty full on top? And that sometimes I'm still spilling out of the tops? Well no such thing here. If you're talking about spillage being directly above the lace. There is a part in the bra, where the mesh component meets the lace. At that part there is a bulge where the lace is. However, due to where the cut is, it is not obvious when worn under a blouse. I suspect if the lace had started higher up then it would be more noticeable. The true test however comes from when I wear it for a full day. I'll be sure to let you know how that goes. As for the band, it seems pretty firm and true to size, so that's another plus for this bra. The straps are also fully adjustable.
My only real complaint are the heights of the cup, it is directly under my arm pit, and it rubs against my right arm especially. This could be because I'm short (4ft 11inch) so I guess average height ladies won't have that much of an issue with it. I don't know how this would fare on a full day of wearing which is why I haven't specified comfort as yet.
All in all though, I think the bra is a pretty good bet. Read more 253 more words
This might be the prettiest bra I've ever had! Also the shape is amazing and round. The cups are more shape forgiving than earlier seasons of Curvy Kates. I think I need the raspberry color, too!
This bikini top is sooo comfortable but a little roomy up the top. I'm probably slightly bottom heavy for this cut. The band felt true to size and comfortable however looking at photos it did ride up at the back. The back clasp also twists around itself . The bikini is padded which gives you great shape and I honestly sometimes wear this as a bra, it looks that good! I didn't like the colour at first but it's grown on me. I think it looks good with my red hair.
Did you ever had the back clasp come open on you? This style of back clasp popped open on me while i was in a hot tub and I've been scared to wear a suit like it since!
Looks great on you, the colour is indeed very flattering with your hair!
Perhaps not a perfect fit, but I can totally agree on lowering standards for bikinis 😊
wild_muses Not with this bra! The clasp is very strong, but it has happened to me before with another bikini - mortifying!
I really appreciate your swimwear reviews! I am anxious about swimwear pieces from every single conceivable angle, which you cover on your blog. It's awesome!
learningaboutbras Thank you so much for your kind words! I try so hard to show all the things I review here and on my blog from all angles so that people have a very realistic idea of what it looks like and if it might work for them. It's fantastic to know this is useful to you :-)
I continue to be a big fat sucker for purple and CK's designs. I find this bra more similar to Bardot/Madagascar than any of the older CK styles listed under the "same cut" links on the page. It's definitely far more open on top than Bardot is though. Almost (technically) too small for me, but workable.
Are you going to keep it? It is so beautiful and looks great on you. I have been in love for this bra for a while, but given my past with CK unlined bras, I have been afraid to try it...all have been failures. I agree...older CK styles I have tried have been too wide and shallow. Recently, I have had luck though with CK's padded bras Daily Boost and Arizona. They seem quite a bit narrower and more projected. I might try this in my ususal CK size of 30H given how great it looks on you (if I can find it...maybe on sale)!
Thanks! Yeah I'm gonna keep it. I think a 28G woulda solved the problems with my left side, but also likely been too wide and too big on my right. And it's not like lefty is making an escape all day. I've just gotten extremely picky!
This was my first 28D bra after I got fitted! I was so excited and thought I'd buy this online as there was a sale.
I absolutely love the bright orange colour with the cute and sexy details to it! It fits me really well but will not fit someone who is top heavy. So shallow breasted ladies with a wide root/bottom heavy will probably find that this fits like a glove!
The only thing is that the bra is Abit stiff and the wires dig in a little..but then I'm quite bony so prolly not a problem if you have some padding..!
The bra definitely looks seemless and give a good shape under t shirts! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Update: I have worn this bra many times now and it is definitely comfortable. There are some slight gap underneath the right cup though as my tught Breast is smaller than the left. The wires no longer dig in and the bra comfortably holds up my girls https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
You better lotion up, ladies (and gents), because this bra believes that "Beauty is pain." The embroidery, while cute, snags on everything. Including air. The straps have adorable bows on them, which is fantastic ... for highlighting exactly where my Tail of Spence is. This is probably due to the fact that Curvy Kate has their bra straps set wider apart than I prefer; however, it was pointed out to me that most of their bras are designed for holding up way more weight than I have. Unfortunately, the eye catching embroidery and dainty bows barely make up for the odd material. It's reminiscent of a ...cheap Halloween costume, and the cup edges by the wings might as well be plastic. This means I get to decide between having the straps at a useless length or feeling like the world's slowest tattoo artist is working on my chest..
Super cute, though.
Update: After wearing it around the house last night, I have to say I really like the fit. The stiff material held everything in place and the once I finally got everything adjusted properly it became less uncomfortable. Still wouldn't recommend wearing this during anything more active than doing laundry. Read more 95 more words
I tried that one and felt that it was a bit cheap looking too. I'm not sure what the issue was but it's definitely cuter in pics! The cups are really wideset. Overall, sort of an odd bras.
I also felt that the Lovestruck (and the Roxie) were made using industrial materials. I find that while Curvy Kate makes fine bras in what they refer to as their "core size range" (32DD - 36GG), they are not always considerate of people who are smaller or larger.
I wish that their smaller sized bras were less heavy duty. Most women who are in the 28D - 30E range don't need such heavy duty materials (thick straps, heavy underwires) for a bra that gives them lift and support.
This is the 2nd Pebble bikini top that I have bought. My first one two years ago had the misfortune of the clasp breaking, and it made me so sad. This print/color combo really suits me, and I was pleased with the comfort and appearance of the bikini. I happened to see another one on eBay for a pretty low price, so I decided to give it another go since I still had the matching bottoms. I'm still afraid that the clasp may break again, but I will only be wearing it to lay out at the pool at my condo complex. Luckily, my home will only be ...a few feet away. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
The bikini fits quite well, despite the wires being too wide and too tall under my arms. The gore is much wider than what I usually prefer, but it's very low and sits below where my breasts touch, which actually makes it fit okay. The cups are a tad bit too shallow at the bottom, so my boobs float up and cause them to fold over just a bit. However, these fit issues are just minor and in no way change how I feel about the bikini (as long as the clasp doesn't break again!) Even if the clasp does break again, I plan to replace it with a regular hook/eye fastener this time. The shape is actually quite nice, so I've included pics with a t-shirt so you can see how well it would work in bra form (this bikini is based on the Smoothie, I believe). My boobs felt secure even when I got into the pool, instead of trying to float out of the cups like in another bikini I own. Read more 185 more words
My usual size is 30K, but I think a 32J is probably actually the best size for me in this at the moment. My underbust is my narrowest point, as I have a rounded tummy and a V-shape ribcage, so about an inch above and below my underbust will measure closer to 32 inches. The band does ride up very slightly at the centre of the back, but it doesn't actually move, and any tighter would be too much for my tummy and result in the band flipping up all the time, so I'm happy with the 32. The ...gore doesn't sit flat at the top (not sure if this is due to an issue with construction, or just gore height on my close-set boobs), but I don't get overspill or gapping, and I get fairly decent cleavage. The straps are fairly thin, though I don't seem to get any issues due to strap placement. The sides are a little high, but again, not too bad. Saying that, I don't find this bra particularly supportive. It feels wonderfully supportive if I push the gore flat, but with the gore lifting slightly, I do get a lot of bounce moving around. Definitely more of a looker rather than an everyday bra.
It being a longline skews the measurements slightly, so: measurement from top of the gore to level with the bottom of the underwires: 13cm; measurement from top of wing to level with the bottom of the underwires: 13.8cm. So overall I would say the cups are average width, shallow depth, but open on top with a fair amount of vertical volume (i.e. a good cut for cakes-on-a-plate cleavage). Disappointed that the band only extends about 3.5cm under the wires in this size - I'm guessing this is the usual issue of them using about the same length band for all sizes, resulting in larger cups taking up most of the longline space. Still, it's longer than most bras and still looks cute. The colour is a lovely bright pink, and I love the pink mesh overlaid onto a light base for the cups. The floral embroidery is definitely a nice change from the usual way floral is done, too.
All in all I love the look of this bra (I wasn't expecting to find a decent fit in a longline er...ever?), and it's definitely a fun piece that I'll likely incorporate as outerwear this summer, but if you're looking for a supportive, everyday bra, this might not be the one for you. I tried to capture the bright color of this beauty, but it was really hard to get the color to convey on my phone camera as it is in person. In person, the color is brighter and a richer green. The poppy detailing is close to a burnt orange. It's truly stunning, and unlike another I have owned before.
The band is the most stretchy of the 3 different models that I bought, and is the only one I can wear comfortably without an extender. The cups run TTS, and, while the materials doesn't much much stretch, it is accommodating ...to FoT breasts. It fits my larger breast perfectly, and is slightly loose along the top above the seam on my smaller. The wires are certainly too wide, but there isn't much wrinkling along the wires and it isn't at all noticeable under clothing. With this, I get a very round shape that is slightly minimizing and held close to my body. This will be great to wear for clothes I would otherwise fear my boobs busting out of the top.
Bonus: on top of the great shape, the bra is crazy comfortable. I definitely recommend!
The first noticeable thing is the band is quite tight; definitely requires an extender for me (currently between 32 and 34 band size). The cup is TTS, if not a touch small. If I had any more volume, I'd definitely be quadding. The top is not stretchy at all, but still accommodating to FoT breasts. I generally get at least some amount of cut-in with all ...UK bras, and don't at all with this. The material is really soft, matte microfiber. The band has some nice detailing that keep the bra from being too boring.
I wasn't crazy about the shape without a shirt on; however, once I tried a shirt on over top it, I really get the whole 'upfront technology' CK is touting in their recent models. The shape is very round and all kinds of uplifted! The wires are a bit wide for me, and I do get some wrinkling by the wire, but it's barely noticeable in my larger breast, and it's not at all noticeable under clothes.
Ultimately, I decided to only keep the beige color, as my lingerie drawer runneth over at the moment and I only have one other 'nude' bra in my current rotation.
Notable difference between the beige and black colorway:
- the band on the black is smaller - the wires on the beige are a touch wider - the cups are a bit smaller on the black - the materials, especially around the wires and band, feel smoother and less irritating on the beige compared to the black Read more 188 more words
I am seriously in need of beige myself but I was thinking about getting another Comexim Basic or 2. Value and looks per dollar, how do you feel they compare?
While the Basic fits better in terms of size and shape, I'm glad to have both. Basic, on me, is provides a more perfectly round and a bit compact shape; however, Daily Dream has softer and smoother materials and provides more of a boost and lift to the girls. If you want 2, I'd say get one of each. Basic's shape is more subdued, and Daily Dream will put the boobs out there. Other than that, they're comparable for value. Aesthetically, bra alone, Basic is better. Daily Dream is not a seduction bra by any means.
This bra is super pretty with lots of details. The lilac trim goes all the way around the band, which is a nice touch. The mesh feels very soft and high quality and I love the materials, although I found a few loose strings in this bra which concerns me a little bit. However, I checked, and there are no rips or anything because of this. It is SUPER sheer, except right behind the underwire on both sides where there is a soft satiny material! I think the bra on its own is very attractive, but if your breasts point outwards like mine, this bra will really accentuate ...that (and it shows through the bra bigtime). The fit is definitely improved from previous Curvy Kate bras. Much more projection and uplift with a narrower underwire, and I find the band and materials higher quality and more comfortable. The cup is a little small compared to other brands that I wear (mostly Cleo) and you may want to go up a cup size, but the band is true to size. It seems like it might cut in on top if you are FOT - I'm pretty centered and it's pretty close. Overall, very nice, love the new direction Curvy Kate is going in! Read more 104 more words
The gore hurts because it is so high, and there is slight gapping at the tops of the cups. This bra is good for people who are FOT, have average or slightly above average projection, and don't mind a pokey gore.
FYI: Even, wide, centered breasts and broad shoulders. 33" around and 26" snug under gives me 26F but I wear 28E/Fs and 30DDs because it's easier to find those.
I love how low-cut this bra is. I need low-cut bras because I have nearly no space between my breasts and any underwire between them is uncomfortable and stabs/pushes my breast tissue all over, which is unattractive and not good for maintaining shape.
There is not any push-up padding in the bra. As with all my padded CK bras, the cups are shallow and wrinkling occurs at the bottom. I went up one cup from my typical sister size, which I ...generally do for CK.
The straps are entirely adjustable (and quite long if you need length, but not so long that I adjusted them and the plastic part ended in an unusual place) and seem sturdy. They are a bit wide for my taste. I like that they can be criss-crossed or whatever, but I wish they weren't so wide! Now I cannot use any other removable straps on this bra (thinner ones or clear ones or cute ones) because they will not fit onto it (the strap holding area is too wide of a piece of fabric on this bra).
You cannot wear this bra as a strapless bra and expect support. It is too flexible in the cups.
The seams on the cups or the black-on-black pattern haven't been visible in appropriately-colored tees (medium to dark colors).
CONCLUSION: I've had this bra for over a year and I hardly wear it as it's not really cute and the cups are kind of pathetic, but it fits fine. Good for racerback tanks. Read more 169 more words
Ahhh, Curvy Kate....always just SO CLOSE to fitting but not quite there. I do love the looks of this bra, and am in love with red colorway with the subtle leopard print. And the cute crystal charm at the gore. I'm such a girlie girl, and the more "bling" and glam on a bra the better! Lol!
Unfortunately, the wires on this are just a bit too wide for me, and there doesn't seem to be enough immediate projection at the base of the cup (getting a bit of orange in a glass on both sides). The wires come out and around pretty far under my arms. And ...I'm getting some slight quad boob. But, as always, I LOVE that there are 3 rows of hooks on CK bras! Very supportive and sturdy, well-constructed. Surprisingly, the gore is rather comfy for my close-set girls. And this bra gives them an amazing shape under a shirt!! I had similar fit issues with the Entice, but I had that in a 28GG. The 28G seems to fit better, oddly enough, but the Smoothie gives a much nicer shape on me. It's totally wearable, and you can't see any of the fit issues with a shirt on (maybe a little of the quad boob). But I get a great uplifted, rounded shape. I just wish the wires were a bit more narrow with a little more depth. Read more 127 more words
