I bent the wires outward a little to better encompass the sides of my breasts, and I think the bottoms and sides of the cups fit pretty well. The tops of the cups are empty (expected, as I don't have the FOT breasts this bra wants) but the wrinkling doesn't show under clothing, so for a transitional piece to get me through as my shape keeps changing, I'm calling it a win. (I am considering altering the top lace panels to more of a sweetheart neckline in order to better fit my frame. Tucking along the seam and tacking in place looks doable.)
The cup shape is decidedly pointy, but not in a bad way. The side support panels hoist my (widely splayed) breasts inward so the nipples are pointed front and center, which they don't do naturally at all. It's especially weird to be able to lift my arms and NOT brush the sides of my breasts with my biceps. The band is comfortably snug on my 26 1/2" ribs and nothing digs or pinches.
I'm new to commenting on fit, so anyone please correct me if necessary. Just wanted to agree on trying a smaller cup though. The wrinkles below and lateral to the horizontal seam, seem unlikely to be resolved by alteration. Maybe that 28E will solve all? Still, if it doesn't show under clothes and you are comfortable/happy in it - that's all that matters.
I'm not sure that this bra will fit even after alterations, but it is worth a shot. I tried Dreamcatcher as well with similar results. You definitely look projected and full on bottom. Have you tried Freya unlined plunges? Curvy Kate's are just so full on top. If you do manage to fix it, please post about it :) I love seeing people's alterations.
I just returned my 28e to amazon, so maybe it'll still be $19.
prettyncharmuese how did it fit you?
The cups are too big here, try one cup size smaller. I am FOB and the Dreamcatcher works well.
PetiteCollegiate you just reminded me I have to put the pictures up. There was space at the top of the cup. I probably would have been okay with a cup size down. I would say, like most/all CK bras this bra is good for FOT
To be honest, it looks like all the photos on bratabase show a pretty awkward fit with this one. I think it's probablyjust an awkward bra. Even on the people who looklike they're in the right volume the fit is pointy. I had the frost/boysenberry one in 28F and it was really FoT. erispe what size/color did you have yours in? The way mine was sewed, I can't imagine it working for anyone full on bottom.
PetiteCollegiate - mine is petrol colour in 30D. This size is much smaller in label than what I'd normally get. Very deep cups, but wings could be higher. I don't get a pointy shape. Some tissue is not enclosed completely on the outer side. This doesn't show under clothes though.
I just had to put my Dreamcatcher on to check fit and it turns out that I've outgrown it on my bigger side. :( So now I really don't know how it would fit in the next size up. And I also noticed that the wire is shorter than the wire channel, which is why a bit of tissue is looser on the outside. When I push the wires outward in the channel, the fit improves. The bra now actually gives some crazy cleaveage, but also some quadding on my right side. I am confused about my boobs now, they look really tall rooted in this bra.
Wow that is a small cup for you! You're normally around 28E-F right? I did a fit check on mine to to figure out its ridiculousness. In my pictures, it sorta looks like I have tall roots too (which I definitely do not). I hate how so many brands have shorter wire channels than wires. That extra bit of wire channel is always so awkward at the end. i think you might do better to just try a different bra for a summer one. I loved the look of this one, but I think it's a weirdo.
PetiteCollegiate I am a sucker for petrol blue - the reason behind having this bra in the first place. CK bras tend to be wider in wires than I need. I might try this one in 28E or 30DD, but not really forcing it - just for science. ;)
Thanks, all. I put it on again today and it was even bigger on me than last night when I took the photos. I found a Freya on sale, though, so we'll see how that goes when it gets here.
Is there a list somewhere of bras that are a good fit for short torsos/short roots/short breasts/etc? Thanks!
To get more responses, you probably want to do a fitcheck. Some good ones for short roots are: Curvy Kate Bardot, Cleo Lily, Lulu Tout Fleur Rose, and for you I'd try some Freya unlined plunges. Try some 28Es in addition to the 28Fs.
spiderwoman not a comprehensive list but I am short torso-ed, short rooted, narrow & projected. Cleo Lily/Erin & Curvy Kate Bardot are my go-tos. You may also have luck with Cleo Lucy. I order my normal size in those. I can also do some Freya unlined plunge bras in a cup size down. Typically stretch lace & our shape struggle to get along because at least for me, I lack any upper fullness or height to fill out the lace. Ymmv though.
I have a similar shape and have found that balconette and demi style bras work very well. The Chantelle Merci Demi could be a really nice style for you. You may also need to bend over when putting on the bra or the scoop and swoop to get all of the lateral breast tissue into the cup and position the nipples forward.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I really appreciate the help.
Purchased this used but in new condition. The original owner tried altering the band and I can see in the material where she sewed it.
So after wearing this bra a few times I can see some straining in the band. I guess I shouldnt be wearing a 28 band in this brand. It's too bad because I think this bra is cute, but the band is too small for me.
This is the first bra in my new size I've tried. The band fits great (for the first time in my life) and the cups don't spill over. They are however too full on top for me and give an awkward pointy shape. The gore does dig in quite a bit. I think slightly narrower cups and a lower gore might be better for me. The wires on these cups are considerably wider than my IMF. The pattern is adorable, and the color is a fun summery turquoise. The straps are very thick and comfortable. Overall, the shape of this bra is wrong for me, but if you're FoT and projected (very projected) it may work for you.
This bra is pretty typical for the Curvy Kate Tease me's. The wires are absolutely too firm for me, and the gore is too tall and wide. It is much too painful to wear, and I didn't feel like altering extremely to make it fit better. It would suit someone whose a bit more narrow with some space between the breasts to accommodate the gore width.
This bra is very pretty but the lace does stick out a bit though thiner shirts and nipples can be an issue if I don't swoop and scoop enough, but the shape is mostly awesome for me. I am even fullness and average on the shallow/projected scale with wideish roots. The wires are wide enough and, unlike the other Curvy Kate unlined bras I own, it doesn't gape on the top.
This bra is simply gorgeous and fits me quite well, even though it's thin and nipples can be an issue if I don't swoop and scoop enough. I am even fullness and average on the shallow/projected scale with wideish roots. This gapes at the top a bit, more so now that I've owned it for longer (I'm on the middle hook) so I'd recommend it for those a bit more FoT because I don't feel that supported in it.
I am even fullness and average on the shallow/projected scale with wideish roots. The wires go out far enough for me and it fits quite well. However, it does sometimes gape at the top so it would be better for people a little more FoT, but not a deal breaker for me.
Like the 28FF, a complete shape mismatch, as evidenced by the horribly obvious orange-in-a-glass. CK, how I wish we understood one another! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
This is a fuchsia/orange colourway, the older model and fit. I read that the older ones run big in the cups and it is true. I have gaping in the upper cups. I think it can be corrected by shortening the satin ribbon.
I have the newer Thrill me bra in wine/navy (32E, sister size to 28FF) and its cups are a little bit too small for me. And this fuchsia/orange has cups too big in 28F!! I find the older bra fits more than 1 cup size bigger, I´d give it 1,5-2 cup sizes. It is very open + too big in the top. However, I altered ...it. I tightened the thread at the top and it reduced the cup volume about enough.
Other than that the bra fits well. Wires are wide enough, band is good on my 26 underbust, straps fully adjustable, and no poking anywhere. It fits fairly well on my shallow boobs.
ETA. I have realised that the wires are NOT wide enough https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> They cut in at the sides. This happens to me with all CK bras, bummer https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Read more 87 more words
Very pretty bra! It will suite shallow boobs very well. I have the Azure/Plum one I believe, which is one of the older colours and the wires are medium wide, and not too stiff. I decided to flip them in the underwire channels since they looked a bit funny and take in the gore. Now the bra is very comfortable, especially due to the interior of the cups, the band and the straps. It gives me quadboob but you can't really tell because of the frilly stuff, so I wouldn't personally size up but if you really like this bra and have deeper boobs... definitely size up.
I measure 26" under and 33" around and I would go 26F-->28E but I found the cups of the E to be too small so I went up one cup.
I really enjoy the band on this bra. It is not as insanely tight as the my "Desire" bra. It fits like a snug yet appropriate 28 band.
This bra is really cute but mostly for the bedroom or some very thick shirts. The lace is a little tacky and the stitching definitely upsets the smoothness under your shirts.
Some say that these styles are cut very wide and open on top, and I would agree mostly, especially with the Wild ...bra. This one seems to fit me best of the three I've got to far (Wild, Desire, Elegance).
About Me: I have pretty evenly round but semi-bottom heavy, close-set breasts and wide shoulders. Pro: I love the center gore--it's super low, which is hard to find in my size. Also the straps seem pretty far apart. Con: Shallow cups caused creasing on the bottom. But otherwise, the bra is sexy, lovely comfort-wise and shows off your cleavage. Just remember to go up at least one cup size or you will be super quadboobing or even flashing after scooping! Read more 96 more words
I am 26" under and 33" around. Very close together breasts so I need plunges like this bra! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Would be a 26F but usually happy enough in 30DD or 28s of some sort.
Some people have mentioned the cups being weirdly tall but I didn't notice a difference on this style versus the other plunges.
Fits just like the Wild bra, but a bit sturdier so I wear this one more often. Soft material. Low gore with cute buttons. Nice and tight band. No push-up padding. I think I generally would need a 28E as a sister size, but the cups seem to run small in this style and other Curvy Kates so I like a 28F.
I have the cherry colored Tease Me. Even though the straps have been altered they are still too wide for me. The center gore is always laying on my inner breast tissue. I don't mind that the cups are too wide but the straps and gore bother me so much, I don't wear this bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> It's really pretty
This bra is ever to slightly too big and just slightly to wide-set in the strap placement. The band is super snug and the shape works awesome like the smaller size I have did when I was smaller. I like the black/pink better, but this bra is pretty as well.
This is almost a perfect bra, but the straps are too far apart. The cups are slightly too closed on top, but also a bit too wide. I think if the cups were narrower that would help the strap separation. It's kind of cute even though I'm not into pink. It's not overly girly but it still feels sexy... if only it were slightly off!
This bra does not work under t-shirts because of all the ribbons and lace on it. That being said, it is really nice looking on its own.
I think top-heavy breasts would have a hard time with it because of the ribbon across the top of the cup. When I was smaller, I had no problem with it, but now that I'm up to a G, it makes the quadboob effect even worse.
I have this bra in 28E and love it! I bought this because I found in for less than $20 on amazon! It's great because I've been getting bigger and have begun to spill out of the 28E Desire. Tight band and lovely fabric!
