This is the first Curvy Kate bra I've ever tried. There are some good and bad things about this particular one. Firstly, the straps are set really wide ... where the fabric of the cup ends really digs into my armpits, if that makes any sense. The wires are pretty much situated right in the middle of my armpit, but they don't poke or dig. It's the elastic and the fabric that is rubbing against me, so it's a little uncomfortable. I'm also not used to unpadded bras, but so far the fabric itself feels nice. I fill out the cups nicely, I just wish the wires weren't so wide and the straps set so far apart. Are all Curvy Kate bras like that? Edit: I used one of the helpful bra alteration tutorials to move the straps over a little bit, and I removed some of the excess fabric from the armpit area. The bra fits a lot more comfortably now, though the straps are still a little farther apart than I would like.
Alteration detail: Starting at about 1/2" above top of wire channel on outsides of cups, the fold starts. At the base it is a point. At the top at the strap, about 1/2" is folded in under the strap. This, in essence, takes out about an inch at the top of the cup at the strap.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quickie initial impression: Holy cow. I think it fits. With the alteration (dart on arm-sides of cups), I get a little quad boob. I think if I take the stitching out it will fit perfectly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update: I still haven't taken out the dart. The right cup gives me slight quadboob. I think the wires are too wide for me on this bra now.
Band is a bit stretchy for me, but still a bit tight upon normal wear giving not the most flattering fit (photos not great, I do odd things in photos).
Cups too small, wire not sitting below boob, but up on it, and/or quad boob majorly an issue.
My first impression seeing it was that the pictures don't do it justice (and it is way more see-through in person!). My first impression putting it on was that the band is very sturdy and does not have as much give as I am used to. My underbust is about 31", so it might be too tight for a real 32". My next thought was that the straps are very wide set, even for me (and I am pretty broad-shouldered for my size). My next thought was that it is a really nice looking bra, and it is sad that it looks like I just can't fill it. I tried adjusting the straps to be tighter, but it is just too big, which is a first for me as a busty girl with little ribs. I look forward to getting a better size for my body. It's about as comfortable as you would expect a pretty bra to be (a tad itchy) but I think after a few washings it could be better.
Very pretty bra, the lace detail is gorgeous but the cups are WAY too shallow for me. The lace was also kind of itchy... I'm sad that this bra hasn't really worked out.
The cup shape doesn't quite work for me. There's wrinkling in the upper mesh part of the bra. If I pull the cups up and to the center, the wrinkling goes away, which means I don't have enough upper tissue/projection to fill the cup.
I liked this bra a lot. I have a bit of a fear of unlined bras as I tend not to like the shape they give, but this bra gives a very nice, round and somewhat minimized shape. The bra fits my boobs perfectly if I don't scoop and swoop correctly, but as soon as I pull in all the migrated tissue from my armpits, I get some quad-boobing from the ribbon detail on the top, and I can never seem to fill out the bottom of the bra. Whether this is a shape issue or a size issue I'm not sure of. The wires also seem to ...be slightly too wide (not wide enough to be uncomfortable, though) b/c my boobs tends to fall into the sides as the day goes on. The straps are only half adjustable, and as a narrow-shouldered person I thought this would be a problem, but I found I could adjust the straps to a fine length without a problem. The band is firm but stretchy, and if you like a really tight band I would suggest sizing up although I thought the 32 was a perfect fit. The wire height on the sides was also fine for me. For me, the biggest hitch in this bra is that the ADORABLE velvet polka dots are raised, and that can make it quite noticeable under thin shirts. But overall, this bra is very comfortable and very cute. Read more 134 more words
The band on this bra fits fine, probably a little stretchy/big for a 32. I usually wear a 34. The cups are a bit too wide for me, and possibly the wrong shape. I like the shape it gives my breasts, nice and round and lifted. Unfortunately, I don't fill the bottom of the cups so it's probably the wrong shape for me. Also, it is a bit small, the center gore does not lie flat.
I really wanted this bra to fit as I was trying to choose between the Smoothie and the Deco, and I think the Smoothie is more attractive (I love the animal print).
I tried the Smoothie in 30G, 32FF and 32G, and this one (32G) definitely fit best out of the three, but still wasn't quite right.
The band was okay on the loosest hook (I would prefer it a smidgen tighter for a new bra, but the 30 band had been very tight on me). The cups were roughly the right size.
However, I couldn't quite position the bra and my breasts to get more than two ...out of: tacking centre gore; filling the bottom of the cup; no overspill. I could have the bra lower on my chest and have a tacking centre gore, but leave space at the bottom of the cup. Or I could have the bra a bit higher, so my breasts filled the bottom of the cup, but the gore wouldn't tack. And in either position, it took a lot of swooping, scooping and adjusting to get a smooth line at the top of the cup (some combination of overspill and gapping was more common).
If the Smoothie had been really comfortable I probably would have accepted the fit problems, but it wasn't. And as the centre gore wasn't as low as the Deco (30GG) I was comparing it with, the Smoothie showed more under the low-cut dress I tried on with them. Read more 144 more words
At first, this bra gave me a very weird torpedo-y kind of shape, and I did not feel like it had enough support and lift. I am even to slightly full on top, and there was too much fabric in the upper part of the cup. I altered the cups to bring the upper part of the cup (the pink part on my blue and pink bra) to meet the strap so that it would give me more lift and change the shape. It's much better now - more rounded and supportive, even though the wires are too wide for me.
I bought this bra in "nude" to wear under a wide-neck, low-cut dress at a wedding, and it did pretty well for that.
PROS: Well-made. The cut is perfect for wide-neck dresses -- I have quite broad shoulders and I really liked how wide-set the straps were. Very feminine. Doesn't feel like a 'big' bra.
CONS: I ordered at least 2 cup sizes too small, a newbie mistake on my part -- but having never worn a bra that fit before, I didn't seriously believe it was possible that I needed a cup size as big as I did. A scoop and swoop brought me spilling out of the top, and I have ...bottom-heavy breasts! The band was a little looser than I expected -- I think if I were to reorder larger cups I would also downsize to a 30. Bottom-heavy as I am, the cut just wasn't good on me. I like something with a little more lift. I think that's a function of the typical Curvy Kate style, not a fault of this bra.
I ordered a bland color because that's what I was looking for, but I'd definitely go more colorful if I did it again! Read more 84 more words
Unfortunately I bought this bra before I found my "actual" size, which is 2 cup sizes larger so obviously this bra is not going to fit me. Other then that the lace is a bit scratchy and the band is very stretchy.
This bra is gorgeous and intricate while still being subtle.. nude isn't always pretty!
The band was a challenge to hook, being a little tighter than my other 32G's, and having 3 to hook. However, once I got it hooked, the band felt great. It felt very supportive and it stretched just-enough when I pulled on it, the band would not be uncomfortable.
That being said, the cups were AT LEAST a size too small. There was definite quad-boob before I even tried to swoop/scoop myself into place.
The gore was another interesting piece. It was lower than others which was Great for my closer-set boobs and it didn't bother me/feel weird, but it seemed to be wider than I'm used to, and held my breasts a little farther apart than I'm used to seeing. This was not necessarily a bad thing, as it as comfortable, I just would have to get used to a slightly different look.
