    Fits

Finally ordered some new bras, and for the first time in about a year and a half I've got some that fit again!

Some important info: I had a baby in June 2018. Before pregnancy, I generally wore 36H/HH, and had very short, very narrow roots.

Now: a bit wider and slightly taller roots, a bit more full overall. Still need all of the depth at the wire I can get. ABTF calculator suggested 38HH. My shape before meant that it would tend to overestimate my size by a cup, now I think it's either spot-on or maybe a slight underestimate.

I tried some 38H Elomis and they were too ... small. Ordered some 38HHs and ta-da!

I like this bra. The color is slightly darker than my skin tone, but not enough to really be an issue. I like the pattern on the fabric and lace; it's just enough for some visible interest but not so much it's overwhelming. The gore is high for a plunge, but that's to be expected in this size range really. The band is very TTS, which means it's actually a tiny bit tighter than I'd prefer, but it's not uncomfortable at all, and I'm sure it will loosen up a bit as I wear it more.

The sides are a bit too high, but it's not uncomfortable, it's just a bit annoying. It's a wider bra than other recent Elomis I've tried, but that's fine. I don't need as narrow a wire as I used to anyway. I do have the same issue I did with the 38H Elomi Morgan I tried, where the side support sling causes some vertical in-cup quadding, but it's very slight and not visible under clothing. I think that might just be one of those things my breasts do now.

This bra is really comfy, though, and I'm really happy with it. It's nice to have ones that fit and feel good again.

I am finally realizing that a stretch lace upper panel is fairly key to a great fit for me. I have been so pleased with the fit of my 38HH - Panache » Jasmine (6951) (with extender because the style does not come in a 40 band) that I almost resigned myself to exclusively wearing it and its’ similar cuts Panache Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) and Sculptresse Chi-chi Full Cup Bra (7695). It’s—by FAR—my best fitting style, but those darn Panache tall gores are such a buzzkill on my high-root frame. They peek out of even the most modest of v-necks or ... scoops.

All the other Elomi styles I have worn have fit so-so on me. They have a tendency to be a bit too wide in the cup, with extra space in the outer cup and not enough allowance in the middle. Is that what's called an east-west issue?

Anyway, I'm supposed to be discussing the Elomi Jocelyn Plunge Bra (8750) which works well for me because of the stretch lace upper panel. Not as quite perfectly as the Jasmine, but very close. And it's a plunge! Hello v-necks, I've missed you!

The other Elomi styles that have worked or nearly worked for me were Elomi Betty Plunge Bra (8170), Elomi Caitlyn Underwire Side Support (8030), Elomi Energise Uw Sports Bra With J Hook (8041), Elomi Rita Multiway Banded Bra (8011), but in each of those I have spillage at the top-center almost regardless of cup size.

With the Jocelyn (as well as with the Jasmine/Envy) I am able to wear a smaller cup size than I'd otherwise wear in Elomi or Panache, and the lace accommodates my extra fullness. And with the smaller cup size comes narrower/shorter wires which also fit my frame better. A win-win!

I tried the Jocelyn in a 40HH and also a similar cut (Elomi Edie (4000) ) in 40H, and I was quite surprised that the 38HH fit without an extender. It's either very stretchy or I've gone down a band size. Time to remeasure, I suppose https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

Beautiful bra, with full coverage but not a super high gore to ruin a v-neck. Fabric was a bit stiff when trying on but probably softens with wear. A bit too much room in the bottom of the cups for my boobs. Felt like I was being pressed down and even then there were a couple of small wrinkles in the fabric. Would be better for someone with lower fullness in their breasts.

It is not the perfect bra for me, but it is really comfy to wear when anything doesn't fit.

    Pros:
    — really comfy, it gives the right pressure to hold everything without trying to murder me because the wires can't keep their shape
    — stays pretty well in my inframammary fold (mostly in the centre), I don't need to re-adjust every 2 minutes
    — straps don't try to merge with my shoulders

    Cons:
    — the wires are too wide, so there is a bit of empty space around the armpits
    — I think my roots are a little too short to perfectly fill the upper part of the cup, but the gap is really tiny

Conclusion: Elomi Matilda has too wide wires for my breast and not enough space "in the front" (projection?). BUT I can keep it all day long without pain, and that's a good point for me!

  5. Etta Bandless Bra (8840)

I initially thought this bra fit, but I have since learned how to properly understand what fit looks like and know it is way too big! This is a great example of what a too-big bra looks like on large breasts. Notice the following in my pics:

    1. Wrinkling in underarm area
    2. Unsupported, unrounded shape in cups
    3. Wrinkling under cup
    4. Wires lower than breast root

If your bras are fitting you like this, especially under the cup, your cup size is too large. Keep sizing down until the wire is fitting your roots perfectly, even if you start to get quadding as you go down. It feels counterintuitive, I know, but the quadding will often go away when you hit exactly the right size!

I decided to try Mariella, as it's based on Morgan (I believe), but prettier. Also it was on sale cheaper.

The fit is similar to that of my 38HH Elomi Kim, but the wires are a bit narrower and there's better depth in the bottom. Band is nicely snug, gore tacks, no quadding. As with the Kim (and the 38H Morgan I tried before), there's some vertical in-cup quadding where the side support sling ends, but also like the Kim it's very minor and not visible under clothing.

Looks-wise, it's purple, which is my favorite color. I cannot decide if the pattern on the material is pale pink or beige, but it's pretty neat. I especially like the vertical stripes/ladders on the stretch lace portion - it has a lot of visual interest.

This is currently my best fitting bra.

    • overthestars ,
Please pardon my ignorance, what is a "banded bra" ? First time I come accross the term and would so much like to better understand.

Thaks, have a glorious day !

    • This page will explain better than I can - basically the band runs all the way around the bra, under the cups and gore.

    • overthestars ,
Thanks, now I'm clear on that terminology. Have a glorious day !

    • Nice review! I have Mariella in 34JJ, and your description seems spot-on. I think of Mariella as the love child of Kim and Morgan, haha.

This particular bra is less pointy than other Elomis I have. I'm wearing it with an extender because it is a sister size down from my usual Elomi size. I think my larger breast is slightly too big for the bra, but it's not as bad as other brands, because I think Elomi generally runs a half cup bigger than other brands. I might also turn this into a half cup plunge by cutting off the netting on the top and the wires in the gore. I did it with another Rita but it's too small now. It worked much better as a ... half cup for me than a full coverage bra however. This bra also has closer set straps so it's very comfy for narrow shoulders. It has a J hook to convert to racerback as well.

This bra has the typical soft Elomi wires that stretch back and mold to the body so if you need wider wires and prefer molding wires this is a good choice for you. Keep in mind that the projection forward may change as the molding happens however, especially if you have a lot of forward projection rather than side projection.

This bra has a awesome side panel, basically it's narrow on the side of the cups, full on the bottom and a good shape for me on the top. The bottom fullness makes for a rounded shape with a soft point. The cups are a little wide, but because the shape brings the side tissue forward this isn't an issue in the fit. The bottom fullness of both my Elomi's has been a dream. This runs true to size in the cups, and a bit small in the band, the band is firmly snug but the fabric is so soft it's not uncomfortable. The straps seem to be set in closer to the center of the cup then bras this size in other brands that I have tried. All the elastic is tight but not in a not enough fabric and they are skimping and it's over stretched kind of way, in a this is heavy tight woven elastic that will never give out, kind of way.

Bra is lovely. Made very well. Everything about it is high quality. The band seems too small for me and maybe the cup is too large. I was fitted at a popular bra store that is found all around the US. I think the girl who fitted me was still learning. I had that impression only because we tried like 20+(not an exaggeration) different brands and sizes. This bra came the closest to fitting. I was pooped by that time so I grabbed the bra and ran. All that being said, it's not the bra's fault. I intend to try in a different size. It's still the best fitting bra I have right now.

When I first put this bra on (before seeing myself in it), I was sure I had a winner. However, the gore is too wide for me, and the bra sort of "spreads" my breasts out somewhat and so I do not like the looks of this under my shirts. Too bad because other than the gore it fits.

The more I wiggle into this bra, the better it fits. At first I thought it was huge, but now I think it's just a cup or so too big. When I lift and scoop I fill out the cup pretty well.

I love how this bra looks. It's pretty stiff, but gives good support and shape. Its a little scratchy, hopefully after wearing a while it will soften up a little.

My problem is wrinkling in the cups. While they're not so big that I have gaps at the top, I do have wrinkling along the bottoms and sides. I have no idea if any of that would ... go away if I wore it all day and let my boobs settle a little. I think this bra would be better for full on the bottom boobs, which I don't have.

The center gore sits flat and is comfortable and not too high.

A first I thought this bra was so big it would automatically get sold. Now I'm not so sure. I think I'll fiddle with the straps and more scooping before I give up on it. I still think one cup size smaller would be better for me.

As with most bras, it's both too wide and too far apart for me. Still, it's comfortable and those issues are not a problem for me. The fabric at the bottom is a little loose, but I don't know if that means there's not enough projection or too much. Either way, it does not bother me at all. I don't like how sheer it is, but the fabrics are okay. It looks nice on, as well.

I love the look and feel of this bra...if only it fit. It's terribly unfortunate that they don't make this longline version in a larger band/cup than 40H. It's a beautiful peachy pink. It's definitely sheer enough to see nipples, so if that works or doesn't work for you, now you know. I like the longline style of this bra, but the wires are a bit high on the sides for me, however, I have high roots, so, I'm not a great barometer for average root havers.

There wasn't space to include a custom measurement, but from the top of the gore to the bottom of the longline lace is 16cm/6.125" & from the top of the wing to the bottom of the longline lace is 19cm/7.5". These are the measurements for the size 38HH.

The only Elomi bras that work for me are the plunge or the half-cup. This plunge seems to be on the same base as all the others. Has a relatively narrow gore that tacks well. For an Elomi, the wires aren't quite as wide as the full cup ones (those go half way to my back!). The projection is solidly forward.

This bra looks and feels very luxurious. Interestingly the cup is not all made from spacer fabric, the "side sling" portion is a non-stretch fabric. The cups are very tall and give a minimised look, quite east-west.

It is pretty comfortable, although it gives me a slightly pointy effect. The seams are visible under some clothing, and the almost-horizontal seam across the cup wrinkles a tiny bit even though I believe I have the right cup size.
