SO this was the first Bra That Fit ("Fit") that I ever owned. Before, I had been wearing ill-fitting VS 34DDDs with gores floating, like, an inch off of my sternum that *still* gave me quadboob. So I have a special fondness for this bra as the first one I ever wore where the gore actually tacked close to my sternum, lol. I almost actually cried.
However. Several months later and a better understanding of what a good bra should feel like later, I have to conclude that this bra is *slightly* ill-fitting. The band is a little loose; the gore-- and let me just say that I prefer to have my gores very closely tacked-- floats off of my sternum by probably a quarter of an inch, I get a bit of weird wrinkling in the bottom of the cup, and when I stand up properly, I have a bit of quadboob even when the gore floats. So honestly, I probably would have better fit into a 30G. However! It's a lovely bra, and very comfortable.
Bought this bra hoping it would be a daily nude bra that conveniently doubles as strapless. Despite being the same size and brand as my best-fitting bra, this one was very uncomfortable and unflattering on me. The wings and bottom underwire of the bra are lined with silicone which, while useful to keep the bra in place while strapless, is pretty uncomfortable especially due to the snug fit. I suspect the shape of my breasts are incompatible with the bra, as the bottom underwire is at least 2cm too low from the bottom of my breasts, and when the straps are on or I inhale, the cup cuts ...into the tops of my breasts. The fabric is very soft and smooth (but arrived with some small pilling on the cups) and I give it props for the many notches you can move the straps with, but definitely not for me. If anybody is interested in taking it off my hands then let me know- I’ve only tried it on twice (2nd time for the photos lol) and the tags are attached! Read more 73 more words
This is the best fitting bra that I own, and I’m so glad because it’s also my favorite one that I’ve ever seen! Not only are the print and colors exactly my taste but it’s the first bra to ever properly fit me, and my intro to proper bras. I’m still trying to find other bras that fit as well as this one, without any luck so far. The fabric is thin which makes it cool and breathable, but I don’t have the confidence to wear it with tight clothes as my nipples can poke through if not kept perfectly aligned with the seam. It conforms to the natural shape of my breasts, and it keeps them a bit separated , so I’d stay away from this model if you prefer a more pushed-together, round shape. Overall incredibly comfortable and I love wearing it under baggy clothes the best.
Naturally nude color. Wires seem to be narrow enough for me. Cuts in under my arm/front of chest/where my pectoral muscle goes up into my arm (frequent problem for me). It wrinkles quite a bit toward the center/top of the cup, perhaps because I'm not full enough on top to fill it. The gore goes up a bit high on me, but I can't decide if I find it uncomfortable or not.
I got the blush color. The gore tacks, but the wire is a bit wide for me and cuts in on the left breast (my larger breast). There's also a bit of gaping on the right/smaller side. It cuts into my underarm/front of chest, which is a frequent problem for me.
band is really snug, if not adjusted properly, digs into left rib painfully. straps are disgusting and scratchy, just go strapless if possible. gore sits comfortable, underwires encapsulate boob completely can't feel the silicone linings at all (which is pretty amazing) fits on loosest hooks fits left boob perfectly, right boob is slightly too loose & needs some padding to equalise appearance & reduce gaping. overall, pretty good https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
The bra is very nice and one of my first purchases after finding out my new measurements. The band is uncomfortably tight for me (28F) so I'm considering going 30E.
I love this bra if it werent for one huge con: the fabric. Its soooo itchy, its actually scratchy. It made my sensitive skin burn where the straps touched it. I love the high gore, almost straight beckline and lift this bra gives. The style, the color, the round, wide, slightly projected breasts are great. But i cannot stand it for 2 min!
I should've known to trust the random Amazon review I read before buying this bra that it is a weird fit. I purchased it anyway just to try, and couldn't agree with the reviewer more. This is one weird bra.
First, the cups are made from a lightweight but stiff mesh that stands on its own. Not the soft and comfortable mesh from Cleo Marcie and Curvy Kate Florence, but something with inherent stiffness. Since the cups stand on their own, I can form them into shape without anything to fill them out, and truly see how oddly they are proportioned.
This is a standard three ...piece cup balcony style as found in many of the UK brands. However, the cup here is extremely deep and juts out horizontally for a very deep bottom cup. The side of the cup is shallow, but the cup is very full at a point that is off-center and towards the gore. The top of the cup is extremely closed off and the elastic sits flush against my chest while the rest of the cup is a baggy mess.
The band also seems to run big and doesn't feel firm or secure. I don't know what kind of breast shape this would fit, but certainly someone with extreme fullness and short roots as the style doesn't work for shallow shapes, and the tight upper cup would cut into tall roots. The Freya Starlight Side Support is a nice bra with a lot to like. However, it's just one of those styles I don't absolutely love, since I paid full price for it. Thus, I decided not to keep it, but would still like to comment on this bra's positive points.
First, this bra reminded me so much of the Agent Provocateur Sidonie from AW 2011. A classic, retro-style bra made from rigid, open black lace, Starlight doesn't have the gorgeous daisy lace pattern of Sidonie, but it has a far nicer cup construction and supportive design. This is a three piece cup with side panel ...that is solidly constructed. The band is firm and supportive, and the gore is much taller and more stable than Sidonie. Design details are minimal, with just a tiny ribbon tack at the gore, and subtle gold hardware.
The main problem with this bra is that the lace is SO stiff and scratchy. I thought the lace on Freya Fancies and Freya Daisy was stiff, but that's nothing. If you close your eyes and touch this bra, it feels somewhere between a burlap sack and a fishing net. It's not uncomfortable to me once it's on, but it makes handling the bra very unpleasant to me. The stiff lace also affects the fit, as it doesn't sit as smoothly on the body as a softer material. Ultimately the lace for me was the dealbreaker on this bra, and while I'm sure it will soften up with washing, I just don't want to deal with it.
The other point to note regarding this bra is that it is the exact same cut as the Freya Rose Tapestry Side Support Bra. That particular bra gave me serious orange-in-a-glass issues due to the narrow width of the underwire, while this particular bra fit me fine as the cup width was about 1 cm bigger. Thus, this cup construction plus the rigid fabric is not very forgiving in the fit. There also seems to be something unusual about the grading of the cups when you get to larger cup sizes, based on the reviews of others. Other than that, the band felt secure and comfortable, and I had no particular fit issues in the 28DD, which is my normal size. 28D is one size too small for me and didn't fit in the cups, but I would say this runs true to size.
This is a lovely retro-style bra, but I would definitely recommend you try before you buy to determine if the shape and fabric are for you. Read more 336 more words
