I'm brand new to seeking abtf and this was in my first haul of Freya bras, and UK bras in general. So I may not know what I'm talking about! Haha That said, I found this bra to be very wearable comfort wise, and well constructed, so I decided to keep it. I find the band too large for me, however, and it does ride up soon after putting it on but since it's far better than my previous go-to bras/size, and super soft/comfy it's staying for now. I definitely need a 30 band and sadly the sister size of 30E in this bra, and in the longline version were slightly too small in the cup leading to some spillover as it cut in along the top and pushed my tissue around in strange, unexpected ways giving me a bizarre shape - such as a large "dimple" in the bottom of the bra, for example!
I don’t remember when I bought this bra, but I’d wager at least a couple of years ago because I am on the tightest hook now, and when I first bought it, I was not swooping and scooping, otherwise I’d have seen the slight quadding that I get from this bra. That said, it’s not a lot of quadding, and not noticeable underneath clothes. I’m not sure if going up the cup size would be too big in the cup. I’m not sure if it’s a result of a cup size problem or a cup shape problem.
Theoretically, this should not work with my shape, which is ...narrow and projected, pendulous, with soft tissue and short-ish roots. But my bra friend with more experience and knowledge than I, said this bra fits me better expected and that it fits as well as she’s seen (I think I am rephrasing her properly here...she might chime in with her thoughts).
The band on this one seems nice and firm, and didn’t seem to stretch too quickly. The straps are a little bit wide, but I do appreciate the leotard back. The cups are heavily molded, such that, I agree with my friend who calls it “boob armour” because it really holds the girls in place. It’s a bit too much in the summer when it’s hot though. The gore is nice and low, but that’s to be expected with a plunge. It does minimally slip down from my IMF but it’s less than some. I can deal with it because of everything else. The cleavage I get with this is insane. Seriously. And the polka dots? Swooon. I heart polka dots.
I would definitely get this one again if I can find the right size. Only as I’m now finding some 32 bands too big, I’m considering this in a 30 next time, but unsure what cup to get with it...E and have the slight quadding I get in this one, or F and risk the cup gapping too much. Anyway, I do love this one. It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s pretty good. Read more 246 more words
Your one of the lucky ones! This Deco looks GREAT on you. Deco seems to work well with women with soft tissue, and your roots seem to be just the right height. If you want another Deco stick with the shorter Deco's like this one, the Charm and the Darling. If you want another one in 30 band I would recommend sticking with a sister size, the 30E. The 30F would be inevitably too tall and wide to fit as well as this one.
Looks great on you! Can't beat that cleavage! :)
Thanks so much LeProfessor and Wilderness1 for your comments. It was lcl0706 who saw me in it as I was going through my bras and fits with her in fb messenger, and she was surprised that it was this good. I think that I will stick with sister size. I think that a cup up would be too big. So charm and darling are the ones to stick with...got it! Yay! And yes, I adore the cleavage of this one. I'm just really sad that I'm on the tightest hook now so it's lifespan is coming to an end soon. But I'll rixie this if I can. Thanks again ladies! 💖💖
I like the Offbeat Side Support, so I decided to try the plunge. While a wear a 32E in the side support style, the plunge fits much better in a 32DD. However, the band of the plunge is much, much longer! (We’re talking multiple inches.) So, I’m going to try sister sizing to a 30E in this one. I do measure as a 30 band, so I think the plunge band actually fits truer to size.
Shape is rounder than the side support version, which I like. Cups are narrower, but they’re significantly deeper, too. (In the side support, I ended up bending the wires to make them narrower and give the cups some additional depth.) Gore is the teensiest bit shorter in the plunge. Straps are narrow set enough, which is great!
I noticed the same thing with mine. The 30G side support fits like a 28 band and I have to use an extender. Freya bands are usually stretchy so I was surprised!
Yes, I was surprised at how very snug it is, too! It’s shocking how different bras in the same brand can be.
This bra actually isn't a bralette, but an ordinary underwired bra giving the appearance of a longline bra, with the "longline" part being just decorative lace with no additional band or support. Two hooks connect the bra itself and three more hooks connect the lace. It seems to have been designed for straight ribcages, as the lower hooks don't fit snugly against my slightly V-shaped ribcage. Those who have a A-shaped ribcage or a larger abdomen will probably have problems hooking the bra without tearing it apart. As usual with Freya, the band is quite large and stretchy, and the 32 I bought fits more like a 34 ...in most brands. The cups are a bit on the smaller size with Freya. Wires are pretty wide and apex projection is pretty good, but immediate projection is a bit shallow, and the cups are somewhat closed on top. I'm very projected, full on bottom with narrow roots, but the bra still fits pretty well, so it seems to have a pretty forgiving shape. It should fit average projection and width, full on bottom or even shapes best. The lace on the cups has no stretch, and although the cups don't have a top elastic, they might be too closed on top and in the center for tall roots or very close set shapes. The fabric is a little bit rigid and scratchy on the cups, but the bottom lace is soft and stretchy, and the bra is comfortable. The antique rose colored lace is beautiful and makes a gorgeous lingerie set. Read more 152 more words
This is a great bra!! It lifts you sky high and gives amazing cleavage. The shape is wonderful and it's pretty comfortable. It fits well, but not as well as it could because the band is a little big for me. Because of this, I would definitely go down a band size/up a cup size the next time. The cups fit nicely, though I could use maybe a little more coverage.
It keeps my boobs in place even when bending over. However, since it lifts me so high and pushes me in too, I notice a little more jiggling when I walk. Also, the top of the cups are noticeable under most shirts, even though it's supposed to be seamless. Still, these are just minor issues that might be fixed if I got a 30E. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bra!
My shape : pendulous, very projected, short roots, narrow roots but wide set, full on bottom, outer full. Bras are often too open on top for me, too wide and shallow or both. It's really hard for me to find a bra that isn't too wide and shallow. But this bra fits great. It isn't the most narrow, but it's got a lot of immediate projection and is quite closed on top. It's definitely not a bra that would fit a FoT shape, tall roots, or a wide or shallow shape. And this is precisely what I was looking for. And this is such a pretty and sexy bra. ...No need to buy anything from Victoria's Secret if this lovely bra fits ! It's also just as comfortable. The plush materials of the straps and band are just as soft as a Victoria's Secret bra. Not the sturdiest, as the band is really large and stretchy (I recommend to sister size down), but it's so soft. However, the one thing I really don't like is the single hook. Especially with such a stretchy band. It doesn't feel very secure and I'm a bit too afraid to wear this bra at work ! And TBH, this is the reason why I waited for so long before trying it for the first time. I'd certainly have already bought several of these if not for this single hook. Why such a design choice for a DD+ bra, Freya ? I don't get it. Please change this detail ! Read more 145 more words
Wow, a single hook? That's terrible! Glad it fits you otherwise!
I also have FoB and projected boobs. Not like you, most of the bras that made with lace in my reference size just cut into my breast tissues. And I also have problem with the gore, 2.5 cm separation with 5 cm height is way too wide for my close set. But I think maybe you just have a average set rather than a wide set if the gore really fit you.
Wilderness1 yeah it’s part of the gateway back style but totally agree that the DD+ should have 2 hooks.
smjwzhan I have 4 cm of separation between my boobs, they're also very narrow, fortunately they're very soft so a narrow plunge bra manages to bring my breast tissue to the front. Any higher gore than that ends up too narrow on top and fits awfully. Unfortunately many plunge bras are too shallow or too wide and I wish there would be more plunges with different cuts as they look like they're almost all cut the same. I'm struggling to find anything like this in my country.
Stella85 , I have a similar shape to you and was considering this bra. However, the single hook was putting me off as well - it's certainly not very secure! I wonder if you could sew an extender onto the band above the single hook? (attach each end underneath the gateway part). Or use old bra parts you already have, if you save that kind of thing. Of course that would be a lot of trouble and it might not be as easy as I'm making it seem, LOL!
Stella85 It is also not easy for me to find a perfect plunge. Some of them have too tall cups, the others are too shallow. But I've heard that the Bravissimo Satin Plunge can be right for FoB and projected boobs. Maybe you can try it.
The first time I tried this bra, I was trying to hook it in the back, and I had not really noticed that it was one hook - until I couldn't find the second hook to hook. I was far more confused than I should have been. *snickers at self*
I got the rouge color. The wires may be a bit too wide, but it's hard to tell. The fabric, while beautiful, is not super comfortable as it's kind of scratchy/not soft. The gore doesn't tack on me. I plan to try a 30DDD or E/F.
With no mesh lining inside the cups, this is a truly unlined bra. I was quite surprised to discover how tight the band is. It's as large as a 34 band, which is my usual band size, but it lacks the stretch. It feels really tight at the underwires. Not quite painful, but close enough to feel somewhat uncomfortable, which is made worse by the stiffness of the underwires. This must be the least stretchy band and the stiffest underwires I've seen, worse than my Cleo bras which don't feel uncomfortable at all. The cups are moderately narrow and have a lot of projection. Almost all bras are too ...shallow for me, but not this one. The cups fit well on the bottom, but the lace, which has practically no stretch, is seriously wrinkling on top near the apex. It seems like this bra requires much taller roots and a bit more upper fullness than I have. The fit isn't too bad for my FoB and narrow shape, but it's not great, aesthetically. Which is strange as projected high apex plunges almost always fit me perfectly, but for some reason, not this one. This is a really cute and joyful bra though. I've always loved Spring styles and vintage prints, and the white lace and the floral print seem to be inspired by 80s nostalgia. If only it was as comfortable as it's pretty.
Edit : after 2 days trying this bra on, it's definitely too uncomfortable at the wires, the wires are a little bit larger than I'd like, and the cups are much too wide on top for my short roots. I could have sized down for narrower wires, but it would be a bit too shallow for me then. I guess there is no way to make this bra feel comfortable for me no matter the size, so I'm just going to return it. Read more 207 more words
It’s hard to write a review for this bra because it’s heedeously old and stretched out and I don’t really wear it much anymore. But it’s here because I used it for learning how to measure and compare to a bra I was considering buying from a friend. She measured her bra with me measuring this via Facebook messenger. It’s a pretty nice bra but when I got it, I didn’t know about swooping and scooping and so my larger breast quads a bit in this. I wish I had more to go on, but like I said, it was good while I wore it.
After failure with 32E I got this beauty in 32DD (but Id definietly prefer in 30E! so if anyone has it and wants to get rid of it please contact me!). I must say that im highly surprised! If this bra would be hard padded like EM CHPs it would give exactly th same effect! It has 2 vertical seams, the separation of cups could be narrower but its fine. Band is very comfortable and it doesnt have boning so I can wear it. The wires are quite narrow but not as narrow as my lovely EMs. Overall im glad that Ive tried the bra
Im really surprised as usually Freya doesnt work on me. This bra is trully red, and looks quite sexy - would be great for a 'hot night'. The wires are narrow, the cups are deep and creates this rounded but pointy from the side look. Bra overall fits well - there is no digging into my boobs, straps are not too wide however the band could be tighter as Im closing it on the tightest hooks. Im not really sure about this bra, as it fits well but at the same time i have so many bras and this one is like okay only and also I have already one other red - cleo lucy, so need to decide which one Im going to keep with me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
I think this bra is for people who are full on top. The gap at the top is unreal. The moulded style of the cups makes this bra very specific in shape and is not very flexible.
I've really been looking forward to getting my hands on this bra, ever since I read on missunderpinnings.com that it is meant to have longer underwires, and that should solve the only problem I typically have with Freya plunge-balcony bras: the wires being a bit too short on the sides. I saw on John Lewis's website that they have the Enchanted in stock, so I went along to my local store, and there it was! Instant gratification! (They have Curvy Kate on their website too, but never any in my local store.)
I picked up my usual Freya size of 30E and headed for the changing rooms, ...but when I put it on, the band was much too tight and the hooks were being pulled out. The wires were very distorted by the stretching too. Luckily they also had a 32DD in stock, so I grabbed that one instead, and it fits perfectly. It gives a remarkably rounded shape, and even jumping up and down wasn't enough to dislodge the band! I shall keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't stretch out too quickly.
Anyway, taking the measurements of the Enchanted, I find that its underwire isn't actually any longer than the one on - for example - the Secret Garden (which I have in a 30E) but it is fine, and contains my boobs on the sides perfectly well! As a bonus, it's also a very pretty bra. The orange highlights on white are very reminiscent of the Cleo Lucy (last season's colour, I think?) but the orange is a bit more subtle. Now I just need to get hold of the aqua and beige too - oh, and the black and pink when that comes out next season!
Edit: On actually putting it on in earnest and attempting to wear it while making breakfast, I found that the Enchanted is in fact too large for me in the 32 band after all! One side of the band turned over and the back rode up a lot. I still love the shape and the design, so I shall explain the situation to the sales lady at John Lewis and see if I can return it and see if there's a second 30E in the store with a band that's more suitable than the first one I tried. This bra looks a lot bigger on the outside because it has permanent push-up pads inside. This bra left deep marks after wearing it all day. I find the push-up pads make it harder to get the bra on properly.
This bra gets better with extended wear. When I first got it, the band was uncomfortably snug, to the degree where it was torture wearing it for any extended amount of time because it did not give enough when breathing. Nothing was helped by the high gore, digging into my sternum. After lightly bending the gore outwards it became wearable, but it took close to two months of constant wear before the band started loosening enough to be comfortable.
As for fit, I wish it had slightly higher underwires on the sides because I have bottom heavy, wide set breasts that are naturally inclined to settle low and wide ...apart unless something stops them. When newly adjusted, the 32DD cup is on the small side, giving me a slight spill over effect due to the lace along the top cutting into the breast which is an indicator that ideally a 32E cup would probably be my size but because of the low sides breast tissue migrates during the day, emptying the very top and overfilling the bottom making the bra look too small on the bottom, too large on top.
To summarise, if you have breasts that are naturally more centre heavy and not too round on top and don't mind a very snug feeling band this would be a very good option. The material is wonderful, soft and breathable despite being lace. It looks gorgeous. It holds up remarkably well, considering it is now over a year old and has been my go-to bra for the last year. I had this before I realised I am really really not a 32DD and got properly fitted. When all my boob is in the bra, I'm spilling out and the band is riding up. Of course, it's because I am actually a 30FF. Even so, the band seemed loose for a 32. It makes me sad to get rid of it because it's very pretty and is a nice cut. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Band size too big, downsized to 30E but that was too tight so had to add an an extender. Kept the two of this size I have because they're just so pretty :') and they fit well on the 2nd/tightest hook without causing discomfort. After one wash they seem to have shrunk a little (or I've gained weight...), which was actually quite helpful and improved the fit.
The band on the offbeat runs extremely snug! I pretty much had to use an entire non-stretchy extender for the cups to not warp.
I have average projection at the root, I felt like the bottom of this cup was filled out well. The wires seem short on the outer cup, I had breast tissue spilling out into my underarms. The cups seem to be a little narrow for me as well.
The gore felt fine, it tacked and there was no digging and the height was good for my inner fullness.
I have even fullness/lean full on bottom due to soft tissue (effectively full on bottom) and the top ...of the cup was emptier, which caused the stretch lace to curve along the top in an unflattering way that showed through under clothes.
The offbeat gave me a pointy shape, which I don’t prefer, and the way the stretch lace laid on my smaller breast was unflattering to me.
After this, I tried 32E and then 34D. The 34 band was much more aligned with my measurements. The offbeat is such a cute bra that I really really wanted to make work, but unfortunately have concluded it is not the bra for me :[
