Mignight Grace Heidi Halterneck Bikini Set from Figleaves in Ivory/Black Top Size 26GG + Matching Heidi Classic Brief Size 8 - This underwired halterneck bikini top features lightly padded cups for great shape and support, wide adjustable halterneck straps for comfort and a clasp back fastening. The matching brief is immensely flattering and features good rear coverage and flexible fit. The Midnight Grace Heidi bikini set combines stylish stripes with pretty polka dots and is sure to stand out! Designed to support and flatter a larger bust, this bikini set is glamorous without having to compromise on that all important support.
Please note that ...the tags of the bikini top state size 30G. However I had the original 30 band (which ran small) professionally altered and the result is a 26" or firm 28" due to the highly stretchy nature of the fabric. Therefore this is best suited for those of you whom are borderline 28" and prefer tight bands + G cup or the sister size down of 26GG.
I have measured the altered band as follows. Unstretched in a resting position from clasp to clasp measures exactly 52cm which converts to 20". Fully stretched to the maximum length from clasp to clasp measures exactly 66cm which converts to 26". Unfortunately there is not enough fabric to be let out of the band should you feel so inclined. The remaining detailed measurements are as follows : cup width measures 16cm, cup depth measures 23cm, wire length is 27cm, gore height measures 8cm whilst the wing height measures 10cm and the strap width of the halter ties measure 5cm for optimum support. It would be ideal for you to compare these measurements against one of your newer best fitting bras, as this will be the best method in determining if this will be a good fit for you (bearing in mind the highly stretchy nature of swimwear fabric).
This retro set was purchased immediately upon the launch of the Figleaves Summer 2012 Collection and proved to be an immensely popular style and rapidly sold out across the size range. This rare collectors item is BNWT RRP £46. The shop swing tag of the top was removed by my tailor during the alteration process, whilst the matching bottoms feature all tags attached and hygiene sticker in place. Bag a bargain and treat yourself to this stylish summer holiday essential! From a smoke/pet-free home. Read more 309 more words
Note: It's a bit difficult to measure the "band", so the measurements may be off slightly.
It was very difficult to get over my thighs and butt. So much so that I got worried it would be really small in the torso and/or I might tear it. But when I managed to shimmy it up all the way, I was very pleasantly surprised at how it fit me.
The body is slimming and I think it looked really cute on me, and I am someone who has an aversion to swimwear. Granted the aversion is likely because of all the terrible non-bra-sized swimsuits I've owned over the years, but I ...kinda felt pretty in this.
The wires of the cups sat a bit low, and I couldn't really pull it up much more than that, but they (the cups) seem to want to stay in place and probably won't slide down more. The "band" is also rather firm and helps keep everything in place.
The halter strap (removeable) is thin, and it does "enhance" the tail of spence by digging in. I might try to make a new, wider strap with swim fabric to cover that area a bit more.
The way the cups are cut and covered makes my breasts also sit a bit lower on my chest (which the low-sitting wires are, no doubt, helping with), but I am still projected in it and not flattened out in the cups themselves (the breast tissue above the cup is a bit).
The unfortunate thing is that I feel like most of the support and lift comes directly from the halter straps. I do like how the straps are wide though, so it covers the ...TOS and it looks pretty cute in person. It's not very easy to tell, but I think the width of the wires is spot on for my larger size. The volume appears to be correct as well. But on my smaller side, the cup gapes up top too much for my liking, even with some padding stuffed in it. I actually think I wouldn't mind trying this on in a 30E (if it was still sold) to kind of make up the difference a bit, and to see if I would feel more "supported" and rely less on the halter tie to control that. (I think I could deal with some quadboob on my larger side if it did help) Read more 119 more words
This makes my boobs look a little cone-like, but I love the projection. The center gore can occasionally dig in but I think I'm just sensitive to the scratchy fabric. I have to pull the straps in-when they are perfectly vertical it's practically off my shoulders.
Like most of the other Bras made for FigLeaves.com, this one also doesn't have straps that adjust long enough. The amount of shearness of the fabric makes me a bit self-conscience about seeing my nipples too.
I so badly wanted this to fit. It would be a great everyday bra, soft, comfy… But the cup was too large for me! I wish they had the 30C :/ I decided to try the sister size but unfortunately it didn't work. Sadness… haha
The first thing I noticed was that the fabric used for this bra is really soft! The straps are delicate and soft on the inside, and so is the rest of the bra. Stretchy band, but more or less true to size for a 30. The cups are very small/low, so they barely cover my nipples. They're also very open at the top edge, so they fit my shallow breasts well. Since the vertical seam on the cup is angled down/low, it actually works alright as a t-shirt bra. I'd be interested in how one cup larger fits on me, but this one is adequate and doesn't cut in, plus the lace would camouflage that if it did a little bit.
Edit 5/14: So, I've been experiencing I guess some tissue migration, and where this was on the edge of being too small when I got it, it definitely is now.
i got this in a swap, so im not sure the usage. it appears new with no stretching or signs of wear. i love all the polka dots and ribbons on this! sooo cute. thats about all this bra has going for me- the fit is completely off.
the band does feel good. its snug and comfortable and made of a sturdy and wonderfully smooth material that reminds me a bit of swimsuits. the mesh cups seem to have maybe a bit too much projection? The wrinkle at the upper part of the vertical seam, even though they lay mostly flat at the top edge of the cup. This ...may also have something to do with me needing a lower apex.
the wires are WIDE- nearly 7 inches! when clasped on the loosest hook, the bra cant even lay flat- ive posted some pictures of that. some of the cup issues i'm having may be from the wire width. the straps are also ridiculously wide. the gore feels good.
im not sure who this would work for, but its really beautiful. hopefully someone finds it to their liking! Read more 77 more words
Fit: Runs small in band and cup (So I would say this fits more like a 30FF than a 32G). I sized up from a 30G because the band ran very tight and I was still figuring out my size, and while the band on this one is much better, the cups are still too small--perhaps a 32GG would fit me better, but sadly I'm sized out.
Fabric: Excellent! I really like the fabric, both the mesh lining and the cups themselves are very soft. It's thin but not transparent. The fabric over the underwires and the elastic in the band are also soft. Underwires have a bit of give to them. With a proper fit, I expect this bra would be very comfortable.
I cannot comment on how well this bra holds up since I have only tried it on, but it appears well made. Straps are fully adjustable.
Cup width was small for me and the cup seemed to form a slight point at the stitching. Other than that, the basque looks very beautiful and fit very comfortable around my waist.
It seems both the band and the cups run small on this bra. Fits like a 28C, really. The embroidery is noticeable under t-shirts (my nips don't show but the embroideries do..). The metal(?) ring pieces that connect the straps creek. The straps are thin.
I drooled over this style for ages. I usually wear a 28E/30DD, but whenever I checked, they'd be out of stock of any of my reasonable sister sizes. When I finally spotted a 32D one day, I decided to go for it.
I'm glad I did! 32s are usually too big for me, but this fabric doesn't stretch too much and I feel perfectly secure in this. (If you have larger breasts or you find you need a super-tight band, this may not be the case for you.) The cups are described as "padded", but I'd say it's more like a thin foam lining for modesty. The foam gives some shape but doesn't add volume. They are soft and pliable, not stiff molded cups.
My only minor issue is that the cups are a little too projected as I can't quite fill out the apex. Thanks to the fabric, this is an invisible issue.
Soft, pretty, and a nice shape. Unfortunately it's not the right size for me--too small of a band, too large cups. The band runs small: it only measures 27-28 inches.
Although my breasts fill out the cups, I find the shape of the cups to be odd. The cups seem to sink in along the seam of the cup and bottom of my breasts--see photo.
The band is also too small for me. My underbust measurement is exactly 30 inches, but I have to exhale and stretch the bra all the way out to fasten it. Perhaps this is contributing to the wonky shape the cups give my breasts?
I like the look and the feel of this bra, but the fit isn't right. The cup wrinkles just a tiny bit, and the band is too loose for me. The left breast is also on the verge of quadboobing, despite the small bit of wrinkling. I don't think I'm meant to wear Midnight Grace bras. The band in the 32F I tried fit fine, while this one I have to wear on the smallest hook despite being brand new.
Same design as the swim suit I reviewed, only in bikini top form. Again, it's a lovely item, but didn't really fit me to begin with (cups too small), and now with the addition of migrated tissue (which I didn't know about at the time of purchase), it's about 2 cup sizes too small. It's good quality. Never wore it due to ill-fit, but the cups are spot on for 30FF-the band only stretches to 29" though, so it was a bit tight at the time of purchase. I love the floral motif and the polka dots. I love me a good polka dot. It's comfy despite cutting into my boobs, which was a nice feature. I'd say it would fit a larger 28G (someone who likes a bit of a looser band or is in between sizes).
Oh Figleaves. I love you, but this bathing suit is a failure. It's really cute and I love the floral motif, but even if the cups weren't too small, the rest of it is WAY too tiny. I don't think anyone over a size 2 (maybe a very tall and slim 4) could wear this comfortably. I could barely squeeze into it at my smallest, when I was around a 4 (currently a US 6/8, UK 10/12). Everyone who reviewed it said the same thing, but it was too good of a deal to pass up, plus I was much smaller then. The band I think is also closer to a 28 than 30. I couldn't measure it to make sure though, as I didn't want to damage it. I don't fit into any of their home brands anymore, but I hope they've improved the fit of their other swim suits since this (which I purchased about 2 years ago).
Do you blog, Mariel? You have so many gorgeous bras! I imagine you've got a beautiful wardrobe too.
