When I first got this bra I thought that it was a perfect fit. Although I noticed that looking at the front the cups looked oddly close together when wearing it. The wire does not cut into the breast tissue when I initially put the bra on (and do the scoop) but after a day of wearing it I noticed that the marks left behind by the wires indicate otherwise. I'm reluctant to continue wearing it for this reason. Although, it's possible that it's not staying in place because the lace on the band has stretched out and I need to start wearing it on the second hook. The straps tend to loosen while wearing it. This bra does give a great lift. The lace is pretty but visible under t-shirts. That is to be expected with this type of bra though.
EDIT: I've since learned that this bra is comedically small.
The promise of a petite bra sounded so good! I would never normally try a 34C but they said their fits were "different" so I took their site calculator and they said to try this. It feels sadly no different than a regular 34C. I couldn't tell any difference at all.
really? I felt like the little bra companies bras overall were much more *petite* that typical bras in that the cups were much more narrow and shorter than a typical bra. But they also warn on the website that the Yvonne is sized very similarly to normal non-petite bras. So, per all the comments on the site this is very normal for this bra from TLBC.
Ah, well I guess my issue with regular bras is not so much the cup side but things like strap width apart (I'm 5'1" with VERY narrow shoulders) so maybe this isn't the right model for me. I'll contact them and ask them what they think.
This is the best fitting bra I own so far. It gapes slightly on my smaller boob, but is perfect otherwise. The band is snug but comfortable for me (25-26" underbust) on the looser hook. Unlike the Lucia bra, this one is made for wider set breasts. I would definitely recommend this for shallow, wider set breasts. The TLBC website says that this bra runs looser in the band and slightly bigger in the cups than their other bras. In my opinion sizing down from your regular TLBC bra size is not necessary. The band stretches to 28 inches and I think getting an A would cause quadboob. One thing I will mention is that the straps are a bit short. I had to adjust them to their longest, but I am also pretty tall, so this might not be a problem for petites.
I really wanted to love this bra because it's TLBC's flagship and so darn pretty, but it doesn't work for my shallow, wide breasts at all. Despite the cups being very shallow, I get gaping on the top because the cups are very close together. The band fits comfortably on my 26" underbust on the loosest hook so it is good for people who need a smaller band size. I would recommend this bra to people with closer-set breasts.
It's a beautiful bra. I love the high wings. It fits my frame well: the straps are closer than in standard bras and the cups are close to each other, but still wide enough for the sides of my breasts. There is some cushioning in the bottom of the bra, which I wasn't what I was looking for. It also came with extra padding. It fitted nicely without the extra padding, but with it I got a quad boob effect. The band was way too large. These are non-standard sizes and I though I had get a 4+, but the 32 band fit better (I also ordered it in 32C). Unfortunately the 32C cups are too small. It's a pity, it's a very pretty bra, great quality. I would have bought a 32D if it existed.
This bra is extremely wide and shallow. It is described on TLBC's website as 'lightly lined'. It is not lightly lined: there is non-removable padding that takes up a significant amount of the cup, makes the available space contained by the bra very small, and that gives the bra a very pointed shape. The top of the bra slopes inwards quite quickly, leaving me to wonder what size/shape breasts it is meant to accommodate -- perhaps a projected 28C without much volume? The model I got was in a 'nude' color: it is a deeper, rosy beige. The straps are a lighter, less rosy beige. The straps are also very narrow and thin -- about a centimetre wide and flimsy. They are almost like stretchy craft ribbons. With that said, if you need essentially no support, think you'll fit into this shape, and want a pink-based, medium-dark beige bra in a soft and comfy material, the Lea might be it.
This is a beautiful bra that is actually made for petite women -- for the first time ever, I have perfect cup separation, a strap that buckles on the first row of hooks (even in my 28D panache bras, I could never start with the first row), and shoulder straps in the perfect location. Unfortunately, there is either vanity sizing run wild in the cup sizes, or sizing so shallow/filled with padding that it can only be called poorly designed (in this particular aspect). I expected this to run a little small in the cups on me (as I currently wear 28D in panache, which I have realized ...is around a cup size too small), but these 30C cups don't contain my breasts at all (whereas the 28D panache ones make a solid effort). The entire circumference of both my nipples (including the one on my smaller breast) stick out over the cup, although the lace can hide this. When scooped, the quadboob is strong. So strong that it's obvious despite the efforts of the lace overlay. The back and shoulder straps are very thin. I would not recommend this bra to anyone above a 28C/30B or with any amount of projection or fullness on top. Read more 98 more words
Too padded for my taste. But The Little bra Company's bras are the only ones so far, of the 12 or so I've tried on, that have straps that feel like they're comfortably on my shoulders, supportive, but not tight, and not falling off.
This bra is not my size but I will write a brief summary.
Found this in a Marshall's. Grey lace over a nude shade. Straps are detachable in front and back and fully adjustable. I measure 26" around the ribs tight and I tried this on and it felt fine band-wise. The cups are VERY padded. Padding is not removable. I imagine this bra would give great cleavage. Cups are close together and the gore is basically nonexistant. Band is mesh. The bra looks very high quality. I would wear it if it was in my size! Might be a good neutral shade for under clothes.
This bra runs a full size small in the band, but I'm not complaining because that means the 30C is a snug fit. It doesn't work under very thin tops because of the bumpy lace. The cleavage it gives is to die for but at the cost of comfort. It feels really really narrow* and close set and aggressively squishes my boobs together, which is admittedly what this bra is for. To be worn on special occasions. Oh yeah, and it requires occasional re-scooping throughout the day to keep the girls on top of the padding because they like to slowly, gradually slide underneath it where they end up being squished ...even worse.
* Edit: I realized that the wires are not actually too narrow. They do sit right at the edge of my root all the way around. It only feels too narrow because the pads put so much pressure on the sides of my boobs, it literally leaves red marks on my skin where the pads sit when worn for a full day. So as far as I'm concerned, it still doesn't deserve to be marked as a technical fit on the grounds that it really isn't.
I like this bra a lot, but the cups are far too small and provide very little coverage. When I swoop & scoop, my nipples are pretty much sitting above the cups. I wore this one all the time a few years ago and it is very comfortable and pretty. The lace doesn't show through unless you're wearing a very tight or thin shirt, but I will say that the strap design works best under t-shirts and not tank-tops, unless you don't mind really visible/apparent bra straps. I'm tempted to get it in a 30C because I liked it so much when I was smaller, but I'm not sure the cups will be deep enough.
I found this bra to run VERY small in the cup in comparison to other TLBC bras. I was spilling out of the 30C, which I thought would be a better size than the 30B - The Little Bra Company ยป Sonia (3743) which was also too small in the cup. Has anyone else found the cups on the Lucia to run super small? I kind of wonder if I was in a mis-tagged bra...
I know the Lucia is TLBC's flagship bra, but it was really uncomfortable and awkward on me. The gore is at least a finger's width away from my sternum and the other part of the underwires are digging in.
I really wanted to like this one because it gives good cleavage and is a good convertible T-shirt option for petite women. However, the cups are WAY too small for me -- I think I would probably need a 30D which TLBC doesn't offer. I like that the straps are close together enough that the straps never fall off, but this is just not the bra for me.
Amazing cleavage & projection but really doesn't lie flat against my sternum and I get some gaping towards the center of the cups. My breasts definitely look 'good' in this bra, but I know it doesn't fit properly so I won't be keeping it. Band rides up a bit in the back for me, but I have been wearing it on the loosest setting because I knew it wasn't a keeper and didn't want to stretch it. Would be good for someone with more natural projection and less wide-set breasts.
Just wanted to comment and say that I think this bra does not have enough projection for you. What you are calling 'center gaping' looks to me the bras wires are sitting well bellow your IMF and if you were able to get the wires to sit directly under the breast it would force the cup away from your body or you would get major quaddage. It looks like your breasts are sitting in the middle of the cup as opposed to the bottom. ^.^
I got professionally fit into a 30B in this bra and even though the bra calculator put me at a 28DD. The band felt very tight compared to a 30" bra from Lula Lu petite. The cup fit very strange on me. I'm full on bottom with shallow breasts. The top gapped but the cups could not hold my breasts when I used the scoop and tuck method. My boobs would get creased and a fold developed on my sternum and my nipples would peek out over the top. The shape is also a bit more conical and pointy than I would like. The material however is very nice and soft. The straps would not stay put where I adjusted them, however. There is only one hook for the closure.
It sounds like the wires were way too narrow for you and the cup shape did not respect your natural tissue distribution, so your boobs wouldn't stay in. Are you looking for a better bra?
Good luck with your search. Almost all of the 30B bras I own have more room in the cups than this bra, going by the measurements.
wendybien Yes I am starting to look into 28DD,30D range for balconette type bras. I am still a bit skeptical of being able to fill such large cups so I might try ones in a 30C range if that is the case.
runs_with_scissors Thank you! I must admit it is a rather frustrating/expensive endeavor.
Some of the calculators put me in a 28DD as well. I have a bunch of new bras coming in the mail soon (I might attack my mail carrier tomorrow, lol) so maybe my fit experiences with those will be useful to you.
runs_with_scissors That would be awesome :) I have a few coming in soon as well so we can share our experiences!
Just a general PSA here, don't confuse "large" cups with projected ones. Many women with shallower breast shapes are CONVINCED they have tiny tiny tiny boobs when really they don't (including a certain blogger who shall remain nameless). So they basically never look at cups larger than B when in fact they need a C, D or DD--just a very wide shallow shape with wires that extend out to accommodate the slope of the sideboob, instead of a narrow projected cup shape.
I'm not saying this is necessarily you, but just throwing that out there. Many somehow seem not even to SEE the volume of their boob tissue that is located on the outer side of the breast--which is naturally where the fullest part will be on a lot of women in this size range. I think our culture must be too obsessed with cleavage or something--so many people think if you don't have any fullness at the center then your boobs are virtually flat. In fact you can have less than 1/2 inch tissue depth near the cleavage, but 2-2.5" depth at the outside of the boob that extends up higher than you'd think and that, yes, needs to be supported. I have actually sat down with friends and taken a marker to a profile photo of them in a bikini and outlined their actual breast mass and told them YO, ALL THIS IS YOUR BOOB! They were astonished. In their minds "my breast" was the 45% that was covered by ill-fitting and overly projected bra cups.
wendybien Those are really good points! I think what is a little daunting is finding those bras that do support a wider shape and for sideboob. I feel that a lot of bras seem to cater more for projected shapes. But I am finally (through some swaps) going to try some bigger cupped bras and hopefully I'll find one that fits me properly. I also agree and even admit to falling prey to our collective admiration of cleavage. Thank you for taking the time to give us all that info!
Oh, you're welcome, I'm severely addicting to both bras and giving advice, as anyone who hangs around here can tell you ;-) Good luck finding the right cup shape and size!
What's crazy is that when you do have a lot of Center fullness there's hardly any options for you. I have a theory that very large cup sizes are center full which probably gives the idea that your breasts are not large if they are not center full but it doesn't go both ways.
This is the first sub-30 band bra I've ever tried, so my opinion of the fit is going to be a little skewed. It's a lovely basic bra, well made and sturdy feeling. I'm glad that some of the padding is removable, because there's quite a lot, if you want that! The cups are too small for me, and even as someone with rather shallow breasts, I get the "quad boob" effect. I was surprised at how well it seemed to stay up as a strapless bra, even with my fit issues. I also like the option of the dark nude color.
