Is Claudette suitable for short roots?
Anyone know, just asking because I've seen a pretty cheap Claudette Dessous in my size. I have really short and fairly narrow roots which are very close set.

Because I am obsessive, I had to try Ewa Michalak plunges again in larger sizes and the FB models in a range of sizes just to make sure it's a shape issue for me vs a size issue.
I have decided that EM will never work for me unless I lose a lot of weight and cup sizes. ... I'm pretty sure I've pinpointed why: the wires. The weird jutting out wires on the sides don't lock down against my body. Instead they jut out into my soft arm tissue. When I bend over this gets really bad and the gore just flops over because they aren't creating any tension against my ribs. Even the FBs did this. Also, Ewa isn't projected enough for me at the bottom and the apex even in sizes that are too big for me.
However, my Wellfitting longline plunge arrived and it does fit, although not as well as my Extra deep plunge. It feels so much better to wear than those Ewas. No jabbing!
Quality wise both brands are the same high quality, excellent fabric with a soft buttery feel (although the FB has a rougher powermesh lower part) but folks in my size range who are very centerfull and heavy there and have a hard time getting a gore tack (me in Panache) or get a flopping over gore (me in all other brands) are going to need to go Comexim plunge with a reduced gore because that's the only thing I've found that lets my center tissue out and gives it space.
Conversely, folks who need a high structured gore because their center tissue is light and fluffy and needs containment are going to want Ewa.
I am going to do a Wellfitting blog post, an Ewa pt. 2 post, and a brand comparison post soon which will be more detailed but that is the short version of my time wearing both bras.

so interesting how different we all are. My boobs are just so squishy that even Ewa gores are sometimes too low and I fall out. will you put in any pics/measurements/reviews for the individual bras?
I have pics and measurements here in bratabase. I will do reviews on the individual bras tomorrow or Saturday. Would you like me to share them as adventures, dbmamaz? I thought of you and Ivp when I wrote about that soft tissue, haha. I know that's your big fitting issue like too tall gores are mine.

Wanted to share my findings on comparing these two bras in 30E and see what other people think about these colorways.
Comparisons: http://www.bratabase.com/bra/di9vq/vs/bra/dibxj/ (does this work? I think it works?)
Differences in band length is hard to tell because my magenta Lily is well worn while the blue one is newer. However, I'd say they're both around true-to-size. The ... main difference is that the blue Lily has wider cups (5.5" vs 5.25") and longer wire length (10.1" vs 9.5") .. so it might fit a bit shallower while the Magenta is better for narrower more projected people. Curious now if the pink Lily with blue accents is the same. I believe I've heard the swan prints run larger in the cup.
I wasn't wowed by the blue fit, but I've been less happy with my magenta one lately too. Both have in-cup quadding, but I believe it's worse on the blue color. Gonna try them both on later and might end up posting a fit request.

Out of curiosity while checking my order on Comexim I decided to look at their size chart. I wear a 70H in their plunges and their chart puts me in a 80C or D... that would be a terrible fit. It even says "it will not be possible to fasten a 70 cm bra when you have 78 cm under ... bust." I literally have a 78cm underbust and fasten their 70 just fine on me.
So what happened? Why do brands that seem to know the ins and outs of fit have size charts and calculators that are terribly wrong? (I know Ewa's is wrong too). They give good sizing advice when you email them but their own advice doesn't match their chart.

I don't have an answer, but I've wondered the same thing. It seems strange to try to squeeze people into matrix sizes when your size range is so much bigger. They must realize that, using those size charts, almost no one is going to fit in the smaller band and larger cup ranges....
mmmkay so that's confusing because a typical European size 70 band is not 70cm at all, unless they mean unstretched. It's more like 80-82cm. So if we assume Comexim bands all run really snug, that's still going to make their 70s stretch to about 76-78 cm. Someone at HQ struggles with math!

I finally succumbed to Freya Fancies (longline padded). Sadly, the fit is utterly terrible for me. I have natural cleavage, but this bra (30GG) has such a wide gore that it pulled my breasts far apart, creating an unnatural (for me) and painful wideset effect. Though my UK size is generally 30GG/32G, these cups were both too small ... and oddly cut, resulting in quadboob and what I think of as 'squarification,' a riddle of physics, perhaps, where the bra takes a round object and makes square. How does a breast become square!?
Any suggestions for a pretty black longline bustier or plunge? (@Gossard Desire plunge looks smashing on me, but I'm traveling and don't have it with me.)

This is SUCH a great article, thank you so much for sharing it!
You're welcome! It has been on my mind for a while. It goes both ways too I think because I've suggested bras that I thought were narrow but they were average in smaller band sizes because of scaling.

This Nessa - Laguna Soft bra is so pretty. I feel like I really need to get round to trying Nessa bras for the first time!
If I wear 30G in EM and 30J/K in Comexim with straps moved in, then what size would I want in Nessa?
My boobs are fuller on top, very narrow, tall, medium projection and needing a lot of immediate depth as my they are pretty much upside down 7 shaped
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
Firstly, I've found that Nessa unpadded bras run a little large in the cups, so you may want to consider sizing down. They're also quite deep and narrow, and from the ones I've tried I think they could work with your shape (they were the wrong fit for me, but I'm definitely not full on top, so you may have more luck!). The bands are pretty inconsistent: I have a mixture of 65s and 70s.
I'm a UK 30E, and my padded Nessa bras are 65F or 70E. I could be wrong, but I think they use UK cup progression, without double letters.
So, I think you'd want something in the region of a 65I or 70H.
Hey all, what's the consensus on Pour Moi's sizing? I want to order a few of their bras (Cabaret, Obsession, and Contradiction if anyone has tried them) but it seems some people say they are small in the cup so I am not sure whether to go for my usual size of 32F or size up to FF.

I found my unpadded Pour Moi TTS in 30E. The band on the tight side and cups shallowish.
I ordered a 32F - Pour Moi » Indulgence Padded Bra (7300) and it was too small in the cup, the 34E - Pour Moi » Promise Padded Bra (5500) is about okay save the big band, 32F - Pour Moi » Opulence Padded Gel Bra (9000) was a bit shallow.

So, when I lean forward (or stand) to measure my vertical breast perimeter, I can obviously see where breast tissue is projecting out, but then I also have this 'flatter'/emptier breast tissue above the main mass that tapers upward (hope that made sense). When I am measuring vertical perimeter, am I including the measurements for breast tissue that is super ... flat and doesn't really need to be contained in the bra, or am I just measuring where the tissue is obviously projecting away from my chest wall? (or do I take an average)? Does this number have to do with how tall of a cup I need?

Just measure what needs to be contained in a bra! What you'd want in a bra is your obvious upper root - where it starts to project outwards. If you have some thin tissue over your pectoral muscle that's basically flat I wouldn't include it. And yes, it could affect how tall of a cup you need. If it doesn't project outwards from your chest when supported, then I wouldn't consider it tissue that belongs in a bra because, from what it sounds like, a bra tall or big enough to contain it would come up to your collarbones and be mostly empty above the shorter projecting tissue.
I looked at some pictures you posted of yourself in a bra and lcl0706 is totally right. When you are in a bra and looking at your profile there is the c shape attached to your sloping / shape that reaches to your collarbone. Just measure the c shape, not the / part. That's your chest. The c is your breast tissue. On some women with very tall roots their shape really does go all the way up to the collarbone and comes down in a smooth line when supported or when lying on their backs, but I can see an indent in that line indicating that's the end of your breast root.

I would really like to get one of Ewa's nursing bras, probably the Biszkopty since it would function like a nude t-shirt bra for me (I hope). I have one EM bra and I really like it, it's the Mojito in plunge style in 75GG/34GG. This size seems correct to me, especially since 34GG is also what I wear in ... Panache and other brands, but I've read so many reviews that EM bras are inconsistent I worry my plunge bra is a fluke! I did try a few other sizes of EM from Zathiya before I settled on 75GG (an 80GG and 85G I think, both were huuuuuge in the band and cup). Most people seem to wear a different size in the Polish brands than their UK size, but mine are exactly the same... it makes me suspicious.
So, what say you, Bratabasers? Should I go ahead and order straight from EM's site (cheaper, takes 4-6 weeks, realistically I won't bother returning) or from somewhere like Levana Bratique (US-based so quicker, offers returns/exchanges, costs about $12 more plus whatever I might spend in return shipping)? How much should I trust Ewa's sizing? Have I just read too many reviews and I need to stop dithering and buy one? I have a million boring nursing bras already, so time isn't really a vital factor, I'm just impatient for a pretty one.

If you can find your size in stock in the US in a nursing bra, welll, i'd try that. but if they are going to have to order it from poland for you, I dont see it being worth it?
also, are you already nursing, or are you pregnant? Because your boobs will grow again when the milk comes in . . .
My "baby" is 14 months old and is down to nursing twice a day. I don't get engorged any more, thank god. The size is pretty set at this point - I've been nursing continuously for about 3.5 years now, and I just decided I couldn't wear my old nursing bras (the "stretchy beige tarp" variety) for another day or I'd go mad.
I have loads of pretties to wear during the week when I'm at work, but I still want a nursing bra for the weekends when I'm at home.
And that's a good point about the ordering from Poland for me - I should've clarified, Levana has my size in stock, or at least their website heavily implies it: it is NOT one of the sizes that says "ships in 6-8 weeks."
I'm just internally debating which I want more: to save $12 or to get it right away. :P

Never tried a Curvy Kate bra but love the look of the styles they bring out.
My current best fits are Cleo Marcie and Panache Jasmine in 32G, Bravissimo Satine, half-cups and their Inspire Sports Bra in 32GG.
My shape is even-full on top, projected, wide roots, breasts are close set but splayed. Any recommendations for which bra/s to start with please? Don't mind whether padded/moulded or unlined! Thank you very much!

If you are interested in the 'newer' Curvy Kate bras like Bardot, Florence and Ellace, I suggest you try 32GG. the size is very similar to Bravissimo bras.
Cleo Marcie is my best-fitting unlined bra, but Curvy Kate Princess is also a reasonable fit and gives me a nice, rounded shape. It's quite pretty and girly, which you may or may not like!
I found that it runs a little large in the cups, especially in the continuity colours (beige, black).

found some decently made bras at Nordstrom, came home with a Natori 32d bra which I really like. Hopefully I'll still like it when I wear it for a full day. I'm just glad it was cheaper than what it would have been online. + it was on sale which was good. the gore fits very close to the chest, ... its snug but not amazingly tight, and the cups fit good without spillage or squishing, which is also great The only thing is its bright pink... which was one of the only ones on sale, so its see through, through white shirts. its also a bit rough where the lace is, which can make it kind of itchy, but not amazingly itchy. also, its (i guess moderately) supportive, which I actually don't like (my boobs like to be free). The biggest two reasons i got this bra though were 1) it didn't spill on my side boob, and 2) the top of the cup didn't need filling/had no gaps in the cup, AND 3) the bottom wire didn't dig in or worse, ride up onto my boob. I'm gonna wear it for a while and see how It goes... I'll update on how it goes.
Unfortunately I can't find the tag so im not sure the model number but when I find it I will add a comment with the model of the bra for any ladies with similar boobs that are interested.
the lady was also really helpful and nice which makes me want to go back and buy more bras lol. she new my size just by looking at my boobs.

Thanks to /r/ABraThatFits and Bratabase, I have happily gone from a 44D to a 38H at lightning speed! I have an amazing fit in both bras I received from this site and I have never felt better about my size <3 a big thank you to the team here!

Wonderful!!! :-) :-)
I have a similar story....was wearing a 44C and now happily in a 40H after finding this site and being fit and doing a ton of research. Of course now I own way too many bras lol
...A dream come true for big boobs? Or a bra nightmare? Has anyone tried it in a bigger size? I had the Daily Boost in the past and it was rather weak and gave a weird shape but it was perfect as a sleep bra
Still I kinda want to try it. Just for bra science ... and comparison to other bras Is that weird? Also I don't own a classic t-shirt bra because there are hardly any available in my size range.
I doubt though it will work very well for me. Someone please talk me out of it. I already spent too much money on stuff in the sales going on right now

I tried it in a fairly small size (32DD) and found it a very weird fit for me. It's narrow and projected, which is normally fine for me, but the wires were too short and the wings too low, so I didn't feel properly contained at the sides of the cups. Like most Curvy Kate styles, it also seems to require a very rounded or full breast shape, which I don't have, so there was lots of empty space in the upper cup.
Check out my review 40HH - Curvy Kate » Daily Dream Balcony Bra (CK4501). I found it to be much too shallow everywhere and it was definitely not seamless. I found the seam more visible than on other bras. I see you have worn Elomi Caitlyn. For reference, I fit Elomi Rita, a Caitlyn clone, in 40H, with minimal bottom wrinkling and full coverage on top. Rita had less showing seams than the Daily Dream on me.

I would like to know if I should order a 3HC in the same size as my plunges. Right now, I am comfortable in a 70N in lace or black mesh with 3x4 hooks. In otherstyles I am looking to buy a 65N because all of my bands wear out too quickly even though the cups are fine.
I have ... short roots and I am concerned that the 3HC will be too tall in the cups so I was thinking of ordering a 65M with straps moved in 3cm, a reduced gore to 6.5cm, a narrowed, overlaping gore, cookie pockets, and 3x4 hooks. All of these alterations work for me thus far, not including the reduced cups and the new gore style.
Let me know what you think or if you need more info.

I size up one in the 3HC and I think that's fairly common. The cups are shorter than the plunges to begin with.
@lcl0706 do you have short roots by chance? Even with the reduced cups in plunges I have .5" of gapping at the straps, and I can't go down a cup because i need to accommodate my center fullness.

I know Ewa Michalak has a line of bras her website calls Full Bust Reinforced Balconettes which appear to go up to a 40:19. Not exactly right, but close! Might be something you could try and return, if you've got the funds for such an adventure.
Hi Mavin! Cup sizing in that range tends to be a bit all over the place, what cup depth do you need in inches? If you know that you can do a search. Also what is your comfortable underbust measurement and do you prefer wired, nonwired or either one?

Why did I always wear thr wrong bras on the wrong size and thought it was my fault?
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
No list is complete, and that is 2 years old. But manufacturers dont even say what kind of book their bras fit . . . no one talks about it except here and the reddit and a few blogs
Yes. And that is why I am so happy bratabase and it's members exist.
☺ Evem though this list is old I love that blog and also this one
http://www.venusianglow.com/2009/08/please-dont-do-this-to-your-boobs.html?m=1
So, I'm not sure if it's ok to post this here or not, if not, please forgive me.
Today, I received my Ewa Michalak FB bra. This one is my second, and I odered one size smaller, so 100H instead of 100HH.
I contacted Kaska and because of my issues (the upper part of the gore sticks out, basically it can ... be seen in some T-shirts, the lower wires dig in painfully and slide down, there's wrinkling at the bottom of the cups. Otherwise, the wires sit comfortably on the sides. The band rolls up sometimes or slides a bit up, but this is not such an issue...), she suggested one cup size down.
Well, it doesn't fit.
I could live with it, if the fit wouldn't change five minutes after I put the bra on. My bigger boob wants to spill out of the outer side, I quadboob slightly on both sides, and the wires seem to sit on my breast tissue. Of course, the bottom of the wires slides down too. There's less extra space at the bottom of the cups then, but still.
Is it possible that I'm in between sizes? If so, which size should I order? Should I give up on the FB line?
I've tried their BM (100GG is too small, I think the gore tacked in 95H, but the cups were too small) and S (95HH looked best, and if I remember correctly the gore tacked, when the wires slid downwards, 95J's gore doesn't tack, and I fall out easily, but at least the wires don't dig in).
I'd very much appreciate any kind of advice.

It sounds like the original HH was too small, not too large. Can you add the measurements and pictures of yourself in both the bras and your measurements and do a fit request? I'm around the same size as you and I had problems with EM too so I feel your pain.
Well, I'll try to talk myself into it, I don't really feel comfortable with it, but I'm getting pretty desperate so...
Thank you for your comment (and I can't tell you how helpful your fit requests are, it's totally different to read those, because I think I'm close to your size).

Cleo Koko or the recent sister model might work. It was quite shallow on me. The original violet one is about one band size small.
Cleo minnie 30g fit well. It is a dream bra. I get fat slightly so my underbust maybe 31-32. What size i could get well in panache sports bra?
@panache @cleo
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
panache sport bra run tight in the band but very strech in the cup so ... maybe 32FF?
but you'd better check the size in the bratabase before you buy it
It worked for my short roots. However, the gore was too wide for my close set breasts.
