• If the cups are tight I don't think sizing down would help. You might try a 30G. The wires might be getting over pulled causing tightness and gaping in the outer corners. Of course going up probably won't help the width but it might if the wires are being disorted. Strapless bras are the worst!

• You might try the Cleo Neve strapless. Very narrow. But be sure to read reviews and size up in the band.

• Have you tried the search by measurements feature here? Enter some of the most meaningful measurements from the Bijou in your size and see what else comes up.

• Since Elomi seems to be a good fit for you in general perhaps want to try Elomi Carmen. It is a plunge style.

• Unlined vs molded/lined makes no difference in terms of support. Support comes mostly from the band, so the important thing with support is for the band to be tight enough.

• Unlined bras are designed to give support to all sizes including larger busts. The support comes from the band and the underwires and the shape of the cups formed when the individual pieces of the cups are sown together.

  I usually wear a 36JJ and almost all of my bras are unlined and the couple that are lined are not molded but are made from lightly lined pieces that are sown together the same as the unlined bras.

  Molded bras generally do not provide as much support for larger busts as they just cannot support the weight of larger breasts the same as a bra that is created by sewing pieces together to form the cups.

• I have tried EM Onyks and Lilia and both of them are very closed on the top, so they tend to be a little bit smaller.
  I wear CH and CHP in the same size (65D or 70C), the CH is more open on top and for me the CHP is slightly smaller and can sometimes dig in.
  But I guess this can vary from model to model so it might be the other way round for you.

• CHP Lawenda definitely runs big and CH Onyks runs small/is more closed on top. That would explain your discrepancy in those two.

• I had a positive experience at Johari in Montclair. They didn't have a huge selection in my size (~30E), but they do carry a good selection of brands and sizes, the store is clean and decently sized, staff was friendly/not at all pushy, and they seem to do accurate fittings.

Cheap minimized strapless for the win?

Thanks to Amazon's great return program a took a big desperate gamble and got a lilyette minimized strapless bra. It think it's staying up pretty well. It started raining on our dinning table outside and we ran out to move it under the deck and it stayed in place. Of course stayed in place is a good ... finger's width under my imf and the gores float. I think pinching the bottom of the gore together might solve that the floating. The bra is also a couple fingers wide but it wasn't bothering me. I think because it's not padded in any way it actually makes those fitting issues less uncomfortable and less noticeable to me the wearer as well. This might be the best strapless option for me I've tried. The band can't loosen up anymore or I'll lose the bra but that can be altered. I sister sized up two bands but it's the smallest one they carry. Sorry for the poor picture quality. If I decide to keep it I'll update them.

• I keep wanting to try different floris knock-offs . . . floris was my best until i gained some. I'm sad you dont have any pictures of the Floris and Georgia on you for comparison!

• I will try to put up photos, but basically... Georgia will never work for me because the fabric is even sturdier than the Floris fabric, meaning there's not just space in the top of the cup, but... Like, there's half an inch to an inch of fabric that sticks straight up away from my breast tissue toward the sky. I think it's a taller bra than Floris. And either it doesn't have as much room for center fullness as Floris, or the stronger fabric makes it less accommodating for center fullness. Either way, Floris in 32H almost fits me -- I might be able to go up a cup size and make it work, but Georgia didn't work at all. It was too shallow but also had way more room in the top of the cup that I don't fill.

  Based on my success with Envy and Jasmine, I'm thinking I could probably wear the new Thea. I just can't decide whether to try 32H or 32HH. In Panache, only the Envy is comfortable/wearable to me in the smaller cup size, so I think 32HH is probably closer to my "true Panache size."

  I also wish I could wear Andorra or Clara, but Andorra is way, way too shallow and tall for me and... Well, I think Clara in 32HH sort of fits me, but it didn't feel supportive at all. I've gotten rid of most that don't fit me by now, but I'll try to put up some photos soon.

• Oh no, I didn't even think of this! My rib cage is also a little flared (you can see it pretty well here: http://bra.pe/I4Dm/ ) but I'm fairly high set so it isn't usually an issue because my band always sits above the flare. I ordered a couple of new long lines in my regular band size though that are on their way and those might be problematic 😬
  I guess since its not really an issue for me and I don't know exactly how you're shaped I don't have tons of advice, but you could maybe try a bra with a thinner band. I don't know exactly how you're shaped though, so I'm not sure if there exist bras with thin enough bands to fall above where your flare is

• I have this problem too! I find that Panache Superbra models tend to be the worst offenders, just because the bottom of the band is so firm. This coupled with very little outer fullness can make for some strange fit problems.

• Well, since you dont put any measurements or reviews or pictures on your bras, its hard to get any information. It can mean wrong shape. You could try an extender while they break in. do they dig in right under your boobs? or under your armpits? or between your boobs? You can bend them to be more comfortable sometimes. do you notice any bras being worse or better than any others?
  

• What I'm talking about is when it hurts right under the breasts. I get the armpit pain all the time and am very familiar with what that means, but that's a totally different annoyance.

  I was just kind of venting and hoping for general advice, I guess. It happens with many different bras, so I thought there might be a commonly known reason or solution that isn't specific to certain types of bras. I thought of an extender, but they make the straps further apart, which I definitely never want.

  It's hard for me to find the time away from my kid to get good pictures for fit checks, and they're not even always helpful. I know I definitely can't tell anything from looking at my own pictures or looking at myself in the mirror.

• The measurements have become my best friends. Cup separation is my indicator of fit now, but like you, I didn't know until I started measuring ;-) Thanks for all the measurements you've added: you help so many of us. :-)

• If it helps, I have a Deco Honey in Jade (30GG) that seems to have a tighter band than 'regular' Deco.

  Cup projection is better than the regular Deco (in Charcoal, same size 30GG) though. The Charcoal Deco really buckles in the bottom of the cups, while the Jade Deco Honey feels similar in size, but hardly buckles.

  Anyway, that's my experience - for what it's worth. Good luck!

• I know the bands run loose and the cups large in the past with the regular decos, have you tried comparing your current bra with a beige deco?

• Do it for bra science! I see those commercials all the time, and never know if it's legit or not. Seems too good to be true, but some of their designs are super cute.

• Look them up on The Lingerie Addict. They are legit in the sense they won't steal your money and disappear into the ether, but quality, etc. were iffy at the beginning. Not sure about their current situation.

Can anyone with EM experience help me?

I'm thinking of making the plunge and buying my first Ewa Michalak bra but am a little bit lost on what size to get. I was looking at the S and CHP styles. I'm not sure if I should just convert my band size and use the same cup size or if I should use the calculator on the site.

I ... generally wear a 32J with the following measurements:
Tight underbust: 29.5 in
Loose underbust: 31.5 in (this isn't quite loose, but is how I'd want my band to fit)
Leaning forward measurement: 45 in
These measurements give me a 75H on EM's calculator online, as opposed to a 70J by just converting the band size. Which do you think would be a better starting point?

• I wore a 32J in panache (floris and envy) when I first started wearing EMs. My first order, I bought 70J - Ewa Michalak » Sm Fiolecik (642) and 70HH - Ewa Michalak » Bm Bibi Beżowa Perła (533) . The 70HH was way too small in the cups . . but the 70J was way too small in the band! However, I can still fit the 70J with an extender, even tho I grew a bit.

  I have started ordering 75 bands just to be safe. Well, except I ordered one more 70 and it, too, was ridiculously small. BUT . . . there are 4 rows of hooks and her bras are slow to stretch, so usually its safe to go up a size - but . . i think your ribcage is smaller than mine.

  Does CHP come that big now? In S you do want to go up a cup size.

• dbmamaz The CHP stops at a GG I believe, but it looks like there are some that can definitely be custom ordered in a J cup and some that don't specify what custom sizes she'll do, so if I wanted one of those I figured I could at least ask.
  Zathiya has an S Colette in a 75HH I'm thinking about ordering since they do free returns so I can send it back if it doesn't fit (it seemed easier than ordering directly for my first one). Do you think that would possibly fit or do you think it would be definitely too small in the cup?

• Me, too. But I believe it has to do with my breast shape. My breasts are a bit conical, and cups are round, so if I were to wear cups that just touched my apex, I would have empty space around my apex within the cup. So I wear 1 cup size smaller than my "calculated" cup size, and the depth is about a quarter to half an inch smaller than my breast perimeter. This causes my tissue to be more rounded and fill the cup completely without having gaps or spilling out anywhere. :)

• I think TECHNICALLY, since boobs are compressible and optimal support is achieved usually with a little bit of compression, almost everyone's ideal size is a little bit smaller than their perimeter, but it's kinda scaled... So, if you are in a small band small cup size range, the difference is so small you might not even be able to accurately capture it in your measurements--you could have a perimeter of 7.27" and your ideal cup depth could be 1/10th to 1/4 inch less than that but frankly that is such a slight difference, you'd never really notice.

  On the other hand, the bigger the boob, the greater the number of inches of possible compression, so with 15" perimeter depending on the individual's breast shape and density, that might correspond to an ideal cup depth that is 1/2 inch, 1 inch or even 1.5" smaller.
