does anybody know if they use the +4 rule?
because i usually wear a 32 band and in their bras i tried a 34 (in two different styles) and they seem to fit like a 32 (or vintage fit).

When I line them up with my modern fit underwired bras they are approximately the same length...

Hi peeps! Not technically bra related - but has anyone tried Freya chemises? I am going to buy the Eden one but am unsure whether to buy a medium or large based on the fact I own both sizes in their knickers. Usually mediums are fine but I hate pants that give muffin top so have a few larges ... too. But I really don't want a chemise to be too tight, so am dithering. I'm hoping I can find a place with free returns and get both but just in case any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. I wear a 30F in their bras so also worried whether large will be too big on the top... Thanks!

I've recently determined that in addition to being pendulous, my breasts have more center fullness and are more full on top -- not by a ton, but by enough that I'm noticing it in all of my bras. And it's becoming more pronouced the more I lose weight. (It often makes me wonder what my breasts would have looked like ... had I never gained weight like I did as young as I did, but I'm 99% certain they were always pendulous, and I've made my peace with that, even the times I don't love it.)
After a summer of just dealing with the fact that my nude bras are visible in some of my favorite tops, I recently bought a dress at the thrift shop that is totally strapless. So I'm gonna start looking for strapless bras again, after more than a decade not in strapless bras.
Now that I'm wearing bras that fit, and know the hallmarks of them, I'm both optimistic but also quite nervous!

I'm tired of bras that do not offer much support. So I want to try Comexim out. Where I'm from, it is more expensive to ship the bra back than buying a new pair. So I'm hoping to get the correct size the first time.
I usually wear LaSenza and Calvin Klein 32DD; which are just a bit small in the ... cup and far from being a perfect fit. While the cups on the Bali 32DD are way too big for me.
Here are my measurements:
Underbust
comfortable 71.5 (28.15 in)
loose 75 (29.53 in)
tight 69 (27.17 in)
Overbust
standing with bra 86-87.5 (33.86-34.45)
leaning over without bra 91 (35.83)
Based on previous posts, I am currently leaning towards 65G/65H. Any recommendations?
Also, is there a difference in sizing when getting the plunge bra or the half cup bra?
Is it possible to get the half cup bra but use the fabric on the plunge bra? (Fabric I want is not available in half cup)

Based on your measurements I'd go for the 65G. Also what shape are you? Full on top, Full on bottom or even. Also are you wide or narrow root? I think the half cup tends to be wider. If your narrow rooted then I'd suggest getting a plunge with reduced cup and gore so you still get the narrower wires.
Also they'll do any bra in half cup or plunge if its listed has a half cup and longline versions are available upon request as well but I'm not sure if they charge a fee for a plunge being made a half cup or vis versa. But I know alterations like reduced cup and lowered gore are done for free.
The half cups are a wider than the plunges. Any of the bras can be made in a different shape (so you can make any plunge into a hc or vice versa. They have a single seamed and a double seamed hc. Some people find that the halfcup runs small, so you might want to take the larger size.

Depends on the size range. In FF-G and up they are deep, and average to wide. Often a wee bit too shallow at the center for a lot of people.
In 32/30F and under they can be oddly narrow, very projected and closed in at the top. Sort of projectile shape. Which is odd because that's a rather unusual shape for people who are that size.

so i ordered some 30DD's since it seems that their measurements are 8" deep and 5"ish wide, so it may work for my evenish, conical-ish shape???

After much debate, I'm pretty sure that all of my (Cleo ) 28F's are basically too small in the band and too big in the cup, even though, with my squishy skin, the band feels great. I've come to this conclusion by simply holding the bra to my chest without hooking the band, and seeing how the designed ... shape of the wire and cups mesh with what I've got going on. It doesn't, sadly. For instance, on both my 28F - Cleo » Lana Balconnet Bra (6981) and 28F - Cleo » Juna Balconnet Bra (6461) : the wires are perfect held up, but widen when I hook the band. (They're about an inch too wide, then. They dig in a little at the gore, but the no irritation otherwise.) The cups fit perfectly when the bra is hooked - however, if I just hold it up, they're obviously way too big.
The only thing I can think of is to keep wearing them, since they do fit, albeit oddly, until I find some more on sale. Right now I'm waiting on a Simone Perele and a Parfait By Affinitas Jeanie Plunge Molded Padded Bra (4801) in 30E and 30DD, respectively. Any advice?

I used to own the Parfait Jeanie in 30D. The band is extremely stretchy (felt like a 32), the cups are extremely broad and tall, and it's really shallow too. I have broad, tall roots and a shallow profile and it was too extreme even for me.
You are spot on about a tight band pulling back the wires of the cups. It makes the cups shallower and alters the fit. This works great for some people, not so great for others. It always irks me (especially with the stretched band measurement here on bratabase, which nearly always *does* stretch the wires in order to reach the full stretched length).
I am curious though, is the band uncomfortable? If so, then definitely go a size up. But if the band itself is comfy and supportive (ignoring the wire issue for a moment), going up to a 30 may lessen the support. The other risk with going up a band size (even if you go down to a 30DD or so) is that Cleo changes the cup fit around that size. It may end up too projected or too shallow despite the band and the wires fitting better.
If the 28F bras fit well apart from the too wide wire, and they are comfortable, keep them! Order more! A slightly too wide wire is better than a too small wire (support and fit-wise). If you like the fit, and you feel supported with major irritation, don't worry about it! You can always make it a "fuzzy fit" here on bratabase to differentiate between your dream bra (same fit with narrower wires) and these cleos (a good fit despite the wires being too wide).

I've been doing comparisons of my 28GG - Panache » Andorra Plunge (5676) and 30G - Cleo » Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) with Polish bras in my index size range, and I'm a little baffled. I'm using those bras for comparison because they're the most projected bras I have, and when I look at the ... cup depths for Polish bras, it looks like I'd have to go up 2 or 3 cups (by index sizes) to get similar/more projection.
I am looking for a bit more projection, and wires about as wide as my Marcie's since those seem to be the best fit with the exception of its tall gore. I do believe I've gone up one cup since I'm still quadding out of my 28GGs and 30Gs, or I may just be the same size but becoming more projected? I may need to re-measure to sort that out.
Still, I'm confused by how it looks like in several Comexim bras I would need a 60L or 60M to have more projected cups than I currently have-- that's well above my 28:10 and 30:9 index sizes, even accounting for the possibility of needing one cup larger in general. What gives? Is this pretty typical? I know I've seen other women my size recommending or stating that they take a 60K.

I can't speak for Ewa, but I'm often amazed by the ability of my Comexim plunges to accomplish in 8.5-9" of cup depth what it takes 10" for my Cleos to accomplish. So I would say, don't discount the index size quite yet. I need a standard 60HH, which is a 28:9, and the same index as my usual 28G. Keep in mind, BTB measurements for Comexims will more likely than not be influenced by the high popularity of the reduced cup and gore alterations, which does reduce the cup depth. I wish there was a better way to distinguish which bras are reduced.
That said, my unaltered 60HH's are all around 9.0-9.3 and my unaltered 60J half cup Sonia is 8.9" IIRC. I honestly don't know how it's done, I'm always triple checking my depth measurements when I enter the bras, because it doesn't sound right. I know miss wendybien has had some insight on "diagonal cup depth" with plunge bras, but quite frankly I don't consider a Comexim plunge a true plunge. An unaltered gore in our size range is around 2.5-3"
lcl0706 Oh! So you find you don't need as much cup depth to get the right fit with Comexim? I wonder if it's because they allow more projection all around, rather than just around the apex. I'll keep that in mind about the index sizes, though.
Lol I feel you on checking and re-checking depth measurements! I keep thinking there's no way Marcie feels as shallow as it does.
I know I would need a lowered gore, and possibly a reduced cup height since cups are often too tall on me. I'm also super tempted by the lovely shape I've seen their halfcups give, but I know gore-wise I'm best off with a plunge.

Hello all, I am actually alive in case anyone panicked! I've been mostly in a pit of despair and hissing at my bras when I think about them. In any case, I realized that I fit a 30E in the Marcie lately (so I now have 3 30E Marcies which I just keep wearing). So I basically will be trying ... to clear out all my bras. BUT onto business:
The new Comexims appear to be half-cups. They're really gorgeous. I don't think I want to try a 60 band again because I've been getting really irritated by all the elastic and a 65 band should give me more breathing room. I miss having a nice comfy Comexim on the girls. My best fitting Comexim is probably the Luna in a 60H, but as I want to go with a 65 band, the new size I should go by is a 65G, right? But if they're half-cups, I probably want to go one cup size up, correct? So should I get a 65H? Please and thank you, I appreciate any input.

Hi, my usual UK size is 30E just like yours. I have a plunge Comexim bra in 65G but in half-cups I definitely have to go up with cup size beacuse half-cups have more shallow cups. So I have 65H in my 65H - Comexim » Nude Demi Longline. So I recommend you to go one cup size up.
If you want a 60 band, try 60HH, it has the same cup as 65H.
I will second what AbracaBra said. 65G in the plunges, 65H in the half-cups.

I've noticed a phenomenon that seems strange to my very math-oriented brain. I can have two bras with bands that stretch to the same length, yet one feels tight and one does not. Specifically, it's my Cleo bras vs the Ewa bras I've tried. Both will have a stretched length of about 31.5 inches, but the Cleo bands feel quite tight, and the Ewa bands feel like I could serve to go down a size. Does the unstretched length of the band cause this difference? or is it because of the materials they're made from? any insight?

Anyway how long are these bands? I mean unstretched. I think it would be the reason why one is tight but the second isn't.
AbracaBra I'll go with my beige Cleo Marcie vs. my Ewa SM Ty Weisz:
the Marcie is 25.5 unstretched / 32 stretched. When wearing, it feels the tightest of all my bras.
the Ty Weisz is 25.8 unstretched / 31.8 stretched. When wearing, it feels the loosest of all my bras.
x_X so I guess it's not about how much the bra is stretching, since those are so similar by the numbers and they feel so different... my one other guess could be the surface area of the band, because the band of the Ty Weisz is wider than that of the Marcie.

Is there a way (other than eyeballing) to know how much too small or big a bra is for you? Like, is there a way to figure out how much quadboob is a cup size too small, or how much gaping is considered a cup size or more too big? Or if the bra is just a shape mismatch altogether? ... I had some trouble with ordering a bra that ended up fitting pretty well (except for the fact that the underwires sat a lit bit under my IMF), so I ordered another bra that had almost the same cup depth, and I had a ridiculous amount of quadboob. I ordered the latter from the UK and the cost of return shipping isn't worth sending it back, which makes me worry about ordering another bra and having the same problem. I'm pretty new to this, so any suggestions or tips would be extremely appreciated!

Well, plunges measure as less depth than higher-cut bras. And if a bra is too wide for you, you need more depth than if its not, because some of the depth is being wasted as empty space.
What did you have to order directly from the UK? Amazon is pretty well stocked . . . i mean not that I"m not about to order 2 bras from Poland lol
dbmamaz It was a Cleo Marcie. They were sold out on Amazon in a 28DD, so I got it off of eBay. I wouldn't have ordered it if the shipping hadn't been free, and unfortunately there were no free returns:( I think if anything though the Marcie might have been a tad too narrow, or at least a bit more narrow than the Cleo Neve. I just can't decide if the bra is one or two cup sizes too small:(

On my balconettes there is quadboobing on the top for both breasts but on my smaller breast there is slight gaping near the gore. As my breasts slide slowly out of my thorough scoop and swoop both breasts have gaping near the gore. The gore also sits on my breast tissue. I used to think I was wide set but I think it is just because my breasts are side heavy and the breasts tissue amount near the gore is so low.

Certainly sounds like a shape problem, but I dont recognize any of the bras you have entered (and i'm nowheres near your size). You probably need a more full-on-top shape (something that doesnt curve in so quickly on the top) and . . . gore is on breast tissue means it cant possibly be tacking, right? Its not flush against your sternum? So you might need narrower wires?
The gore sort of just slides on to my smaller breast and doesn't really tack.

Anyone have any experience with Evollove? Particularly the Rose Blush model. Couldn't find any reviews anywhere and I just ordered two online. I normally wouldn't order a new brand without feedback but they were on sale and I wanted to take advantage of the deal. The rose blush is a lightly padded/molded balconette style (not a true balconette I think) ... and I ordered in my usual molded size 30dd (in Wacoal and le mystere) I'm really hoping they fit as I had read another users review of a different model and she had said that the band ran very small. Any info is appreciated. Worst case scenario, they get listed on bratabase and some lucky girl gets some really pretty bras!!!

i tried several Evolloves and only sort of fit into a padded 3-cup bra.
the un-padded 3-cup bras were too deep.
i need super wide/ moderate shallow cups and the padded worked well enough to keep.
i wear 32D's and 32DD's, i fit into the 32DD's of Evollove.

for the "wrinkles AND quadboob" effect? Or the "quadboob but still gaping" effect? Seriously. Every bra cuts in near the gore, causing quadboob, but are often too tall or too projected on top, causing gaping/wrinkles respectively. I know orange-in-a-glass exists for too narrow/too deep cups that produce spillage and wrinkling, but those are in different places (starburst wrinkles at the ... nipple as opposed to the top gaping/wrinkling).
It frustrates me when I try to set the fit in bratabase and I'm forced to chose between "a smooth line", "wrinkles" or "cuts in". Why can't I chose both "cuts in" and "wrinkles"?!?! That's what this bra (and so many others) do! I'm guessing its because I have relatively short, center heavy boobs.
If this term doesn't exist, we need to invent one. Quad-gaping? Quad-kles? Tight-and-tall-top-seam? Shallowcentertallcup? Myhipsterboobsrefusetoconformtoyourstandards?

This sounds like my problem. If it fits near the armpit, I have quadboob at the center. I have very soft on top (almost like liquid) boobs, almost no projection, but on the bottom and in the center, they are fairly firm and projected. I have not found a term for it, or a bra that helps it.

Today's adventure!... Happened to be meeting family about an hour from home and had the chance to stop and dig around nordstroms rack for a bit. After searching and finding the only 30dd non padded bra in the store, a freya pansy plunge for only 17 bucks I excitedly ran to the dressing room. I am now positive that I ... need a 30D in non padded unlined styles! I was disappointed to not take advantage of the awesome sale but the cup wrinklage at the top was a total deal breaker. So for now it's 30DD in moulded styles and a 30d in unlined. Also tried a chantelle spacer and can confirm that what other bratabasers say is true.... My goodness do the bands run tight! Now to find some shapes that work for me!

Annnnd back to square one. No sooner did I write this than my new cleo zia shows up in the mail. 30D and quad city!! Although it is clearly sized waaaay smaller than my Natasha.
You sound like me a year or so ago. I was in-between sizes, some 30D's worked well, while others were waaay too small. Now I jumped a size, so somewhere in the 30DD/E sphere. Unlined CK's are generous in these sizes. I'd say that in the unlined styles CK runs half to a full size larger than Cleo, at least in the older styles - I have no experience with new CKs.

Hello Ladies.
I have the Panache Sports Bra and like the fit. I just find the cups too deep for me. I have the straps tight and racer back style to get the cups as small as possible. When I go down a cup size I find the wires too narrow - I realize I may have to suck it up at pick one of those issues to deal with.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a sports bra with cups less deep? I don't have a preference on whether it is underwired.

I have two coming in the mail any day now, but they are not those models.
I got the Strappy Amber Balconette bra in 32E for me (http://www.bouxavenue.com/strappy-amber-balconette-bra-red-mix/101043-40rx) and the Tatiana Cotton T-shirt bra in 28D "Blue Marl" for my younger daughter (http://www.bouxavenue.com/tatiana-cotton-t_shirt-bra-blue-marl/100151-70by)
The Amber Balconette bra looks like a vey similar cut to the the Grace Satin Balconette Bra. The one review on here for the Boux Avenue Strappy Amber Balconette Bra (101043) seems to indicate that it's a better fit for the wide, shallow types, but I guess I'll find out for sure soon. I will do a review of this bra myself as soon as I receive it.
I'm completely in love with the new Betty. The print is freaking amazing. Tutti Rouge's customer service sadly hasn't been so nice, but that's for another time. I'm wondering which size should I get. I'm normally a 32G, projected, narrow and FoB/even. For the moment I'm about to purchase the 32G in this bra too, but the wires seem SOOOO ... wide, that I beginning to think that maybe I should size down? But then, apparently the depth of the cups is even smaller (and guiding by the depth of the cup I think I'd be more like a 32GG, but I don't know if I'd be FoT enough to fill it). For the record, I know this bra isn't my shape, and whatever size I choose, the fit will be far from perfect, I think.

Subscribing to this post, as Tutti Rouge's sizing confuses me bonkers. I wanted to get a bra in 30FF, but when I compared it to my fitting bras in similar cuts it turned out that their FF cups are waaaaaay bigger (6cm) than my fitting FF cup, and the wires are 3cms wider. Then I compared my fitting FF to their F cup - now I would have quadraboobed. Umpfh.
From what I understand so far about TR, the only narrow & projected bra they offer is Nichole and it runs big in the cups. I'd love to try it, but not for the $18 USD shipping they charge. Otherwise, all measurements & reviews I've seen indicate their bras are some of the widest & shallowest bras on the market, & quite inconsistent in sizing. It's a shame, because their patterns & designs are perfect. If they would just redesign their fit a bit, or at least scale the larger cup sizes to fit narrower and with more projection, they could take over the sick-of-neon-animal-print Cleo market IMO, especially if they made the bras more accessible to the states & Canada.

After my success with the Elomi Sports bra I decided to give their regular bras a try in my current size. I used to own Caitlyn in the past and liked it for its very sturdy and stable construction and excellent support.
So I decided to get a 36K - Elomi » Caitlyn Underwire Side Support (8030) since I ... usually wear 34KK but they don't go higher than K.
The band fits well but I find the cups too big! I have empty fabric on top and some wrinkling on bottom. It looks decent and the fit issues don't show under clothes so I could technically keep but... do I need a bra that is the wrong size? I'd rather get 34K or 36JJ which would probably fit better.
But then when I tried on the Caitlyn, I decided to wear it for about 30 mins to try it out, take pics with and without a t-shirt then got distracted and somehow I forgot that I didn't change bras and fell asleep on the couch still wearing it. So accidentally I have worn it for 3 hoursI'm on the fence If I can still return it. It looks fine and still has that smell new bras have. Should I try to return it still?

If you fell asleep while wearing it, that seems like a good sign that it is at least comfortable! ;)
If it doesn't look or smell worn, I'd have no problem returning it. I'd give the underarm area a good *sniff* to make sure it doesn't smell there. You could always hang it for a day or so to air out and make sure before returning it.
I keep wondering if I should try another Elmoi when they come out w 32 bands, but I'm not so sure about the shapes for me. I would probably return it adn get something I'm more likely to fit - it looks a little droopy. idk. hang it on a hanger for a bit to air out?

Anyone have any thoughts on masqurade angie balconnette bra, cannot see any fit reviews or fitting photos on browse.
It looks really pretty and I want to get one but not sure if I should size up I have masqurade rhea and entice and they are awfully small cup wise on me.
I know they are not the same style/proportions it's the vertical seams I am after.

It seems to share cut with other bras http://www.bratabase.com/browse/masquerade/angie-5796/related/ so there's extrapolated measurements, maybe they could be useful to compare with your bras. Better than nothing.

I have one Amoena wired bra in 34; the band is ok, fits more like a 32 and the DD cup way too small (for reference I wear a G and FF).
