Wire Width Wonderings

How do you know if a bra's wires are too wide for you? I have seen one or two bras on myself where there was a bit of wrinkling on the side so I can be sure those are too wide, but when I look at all the measurements I've added to bratabase some have the same width and look ... fine while a few wrinkle.

I've noticed narrower ones are more difficult to get on but once on I can't remember feeling anything different about the width. And to continue with this how do I know if I'm scooping and swooping side fat and not boob into the cup? Is there anything wrong or is it causing problems if I am doing that now or choose to do that once I figure out how to differentiate between boob and side fat?

I am currently assuming that since none of the bras have felt like the wires are too narrow I've been wearing ones too wide and I'm going to try a bunch with smaller width, but is this wrong? I'm also hoping by trying narrower wires my boobs will get out of my underarm area and my arms will be able to comfortably lay on my side and not feel like they're being held out.

Appreciate any insight or thoughts you have!

Side note is there a specific brand of bra extenders that is preferred? Looking to get some!

  Of note: one can still get support if the underwires are too wide, it's a matter of comfort though. I prefer to wear some of the more narrower brands (Ewa Michalak, Comexim), more comfy and better lift, imo.
  
  As far as bra extenders, I'm not sure if there's even a brand? Like I think I just have a generic one, I'm pretty sure I got it from a fabric store, just whatever one they had there, I grabbed.
  
  OH ALSO, not sure what your size is, but usually there is a *change in pattern* around the G/GG UK cup size. This was true for the Panache Envy bras I tried; I noticed in the FF UK cup, the wires were more narrow. Well, trying G UK cup the underwires started to go quite wide on the side FWIW.
- Because of my weight I can not find an end to my breast root, I have found one or two bras that wrinkle at the sides (so clearly too big) but other than that the best I managed to determine (by squishing my boob into my chest and then all the way to the side) is 3 inches narrowerer than the wires of the bra I had on which would mean I need about 4.5-5 inch width, 14 inch depth, at 38h/hh. I'm having a difficult time finding anything under 7 inch width currently!

Molke?

I'm very close to giving up on bras altogether because it's just so much work trying to research what will fit and what won't, trying a million different sizes and none of them fits, returns, exchanges etc.

I have tried Molke twice in the past, and both times I found that the straps are too short and presses down on my shoulders in a spot that gives me a headache. But I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and solved it by getting the next size up in band?

- I'm short, so I don't have that problem, but I have noticed that the straps do get longer based on band size in the originals. Also, don't know when you last tried Molke, but there are other styles available as well. The Flexis have adjustable straps.
- bustyand Yeah I've seen the Flexis but they don't seem as comfortable/worth the effort lol. It's the complete boob separation I want.

- Yeah there are a few out there, but definitely not the same range than other sizes. It's got to be market demand.
  
  The major brands that make H+ bras usually change their model's design a bit for H+ or J+ sizes for different support, and that must be a bit of R&D.

Why does the wire poke my arm?

Sorry, I don't have any pictures so you'll have to guess. But I'd like to know some common reasons for wire poking the underside of arms when wearing a bra. Too small cups? Too shallow? Too small overall? This has happened with three different Elomi bras and I'd like to at least have some guesses as to why before I order yet another bra that's not going to fit. I'm 40K, or thereabouts.

- One of the reasons why I prefer Bravissimo bras is their wires on the side end about an inch below the seam and thus not exerting as much pressure on the side the way all of my previous Panache bras did. So yes, the cups may be too small or shallow etc. but it may also be a design issue.
  
  If you choose to experiment with Bravissimo, be aware that some models will have different wire widths depending on color. Their Jenna bra is one such example and there are others. I have the Jenna in both regular and narrow wires and can feel the wire on the side more on the narrow wired bra but it doesn't bother me at all and is certainly nowhere near.as bad as Panache.

I'm desperate to find a Molded Deep Plunge Push Up bra that's available online in sizes up to 36J. PLEASE. Similar in the style of the discontinued Cleo Neve.

Because of my chest, I wear a lot of v-neck t-shirts because I feel choked by crew necks, but it's becoming impossible to find a bra my size that doesn't show ... if I even *slightly* bend over.

Before in my Cleo Neve, my cleavage would at least be smooshed together, so no chance at seeing the bra even if I bent over.

But now with these softer cup bras I can find in my size, that focus on boob separation, more about projection vs lift, and have a higher cup line it's like you can just stare down the parted sea of my separated boobs and see the bra, cups and gore, if you're even just slightly taller than me, no need for me to bend over at all. I hate, hate, hate this fit and look on me - I just want my wall of cleavage back!!!

- It sounds like you might like Ewa Michalak plunge bras, presuming your tissue is narrow enough for them. Bravissimo also has padded plunges in this size (wider ones as well, I'd imagine), but I'm less familiar with them. Best of luck!
- Are you wearing especially wide V necks or just regular and/or deep ones? I don't know which bras you've tried at your current size, but it sounds like you've been wearing quite full cups (often deceptively labeled "balconnette") and/or brands where you have to size up to get adequate depth. Beware also of designs with very wide-set straps: you may be drawn to them if they come with an equally "wide" (open-looking) neckline in stock photos, but when worn, unless your own shoulders are super broad, they may not have room to sit where they're meant to, so angling them in = extra fabric and unpredictable cup edge shifting whenever you try to reposition straps.
  Have you tried brands like Elomi? They fit deep and make a lot of "deep narrow V" plunges that allow a V neckline while still offering enough containment to keep the breasts inside* the cups. If you have narrow shoulders, look for the styles that have a J hook (to connect the straps and create a racerback) for more secure centering of the bust.
  
  * Scaled up foam-dome plunges built like the Cleo Neve are rarely seen in this size range, with good reason--this kind of shallow "squash 'em to the middle" design just doesn't perform reliably beyond a certain bust weight. Shallow cups, angled cup edges, and lack of boob containment = distinct risk of larger breasts just climbing right out as the day goes by. This used to happen to me even in the 32FF/30G range so the higher up you go, the more easily the girls break free!

Ewa Michalak PLP?

Since my breast reduction and the pandemic (and thus working from home) I've been wearing bralettes instead of bras. However, I'm going back to the office (ugh). I've seen that Ewa Michalak has recently launched a new bra shape: the PLP.

I'm trying to see what the the differences are between the new PLP and the old PL. Apparently, thw website describes it as a low-plunge bra? Does anyone know anything about this new shape?

- It just came out yesterday so the information available is limited to the descriptions/photos of the bras and the comments on social media. It appears to be a shorter cup PL. The band looks like the newer PLM bands composed of a couple layers of mesh rather than the firm PL bands. My most worn bra style is Ewa PL so I am interested to see how the PLP compares!

I gained some weight (thanks birth control!) then I lost the weight once o got off north control, so I’m not even sure what size I am.

- I think they do? I ordered 2 sets and a pair of panties and it was $260 total not using paypal's conversion rate.
- I believe she still does. My order last September was around $278 for a bra and panties, and the shipping/fees were around $199 coming out to $477 Zloty. It’s was around $105 USD. There’s also a VAT fee and my bank also charges me a foreign transaction fee, if I remember correctly. You can always email and asks them if you have any questions. Is purchasing on the second hand market something you can do?

another short aggressive growth spurt without warning...

just when I think my boobs might have finally finished developing ... turns out MOTHER NATURE has messed up sense humor.... only putting my boobs on pause LONG ENOUGH to fool me into spending all my money ordering bras , tops, swimsuits ... arriving with express delivery in 48 hours on the 16th so im just finally having a try on late tuesday evening and a every thing is already one finger snug and seem to be swelling and tingling...to be continued

- It's a forwarding company. If you use myus.com you will have both an US and UK adress (separate shipping of course). I only use the US adress for shopping. Different levels of membership and fees depending on if you only have one package or if you will ship multiple packages together to your country. You would buy the items from a seller and use the adress the forwarding company has created.

Rant

Ordered another 22 bras, and guess what, none fit! What a surprise. All of them hurt in my armpit apart form one, but of course that one has a gore that is waayy too high and hurts there. Every single bra I try is up into my armpit, the strap starts way above my armpit. Hate having a short torso. ... At least I figured out I can handle a cup with maximum height of 18 cm and a gore with maximum height of 6 cm. Hope this makes looking for SOMETHING a little easier... I'm so desperate, defeated and sad at this point.

- Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I've tried that bra in both 34FF UK and 34G UK and the fit wasn't right for me. The cup is too high and touching my armpit.

- Debating that myself right now...do I do it? What if my boobs are just a bit inflated at this point in my cycle and the bra ends up too big in 3 days? What if I lose those last few pounds quickly and I only get to wear this bra for a month?
  
  I have had this Ewa bra for a few YEARS now that I keep thinking I should put up for sale, but occasionally I pull it out and retry, and sometimes it juuuust fits in the cups, and I think I should go ahead and get some wear out of it and then sell it used later, but then it is juuuust barely too big when I try again, AND I JUST NEED TO BITE THE BULLET ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

natori bras smell like chemicals?

has anyone else noticed this? i know a lot of bras smell like chemicals to me even when they are used and have been washed a 100 times. it's not my water either. but natori brand bras are the worst ones to smell like chemicals, so much so that when i wear them i get headaches from the off gassing. i suspect it's the foam they use for the cups and/or the elastic??? any suggestions on how to fix this? i can't use detergents with methylisothiazolinone or other related chemicals.

- I'm not sure...I think Panache wired sports bra smell like chemicals, too. Years after they leave the factory.
  I assumed it was b/c they pad the underwires, so it's some kind of foam smell from that. IDK.

- i have the non-wired version and it smells like chemical foam to me. but it doesn't smell nearly as bad as Natori's...

Happy New Year! Got an overbust but not ditching bras!

Managed to get back on here, I had some personal stuff come up, and I am also bad at keeping track of logins passwords, so I may need to upsate any bras i had listed here, (my applogies). In the past months I had lost some more weight, and gained weight and im excited to take some of my measurments ... again. I wanted to also share that I ]recently purchased and have been wearing a decent fitting overbust corset in place of a bra (Mystic City MCC126 which is a short pink zippered overbust) I wish that the bust area was larger, but I can still make it work comfortably. It lfits me better than most Off The Rack overbust corsets have. It giving me some considerations about a possible future custom overbust and what changes I may want and need in my next one to have it fit better. I have heard people ask if corsets can be worn in place of bras, and in my opinion the answer is potentially yes but, at least the type of overbust corset I had supports the chest differently than a bra does. The sillohette looks and while the support is totally there, it feels a bit different than my bras. Some people may an overbust fine and discover that they are just as (if not more) comfortable than bras are, while others migh prefer the way a bra cradles, lifts and seperates instead. To each their own. I find both comfortable, as long as either fit well, so I generally consider how one or the other may work and look best under what ever outfit I am wearing.

  I digress, I'm getting some level of breast support *just for an underbust corset* Is that normal, or will that level of support dissipate as I season it, and the corset adheres better to my body? I'm wondering.
  Questions I could ask...

- sometimes I've noticed with my overbust corset - it kind of presses on my nipples (I know...TMI) which mildly annoys me!!! Not bad but that's why I wanted to try the underbust ones.
  
  So, yeah, it is bust support, but it is different from a bra. Perhaps I wouldn't have this issue if I went "custom" though.
  
  I wanted an underbust corset so I could wear both bra & corset at the same time!! : )
  
  To be fair though, my bust measurement is right on the edge of not fitting for their Off the Rack overbust corset (from Rebel Madness, at least). So I might be pushing it with my breast size.

Comexim bras and bikinis on clearance for $21

I'm not sure if this is kosher but I noticed today when I was perusing breakout bras: they are putting some of the Comexim collection on clearance, this includes many bras & two bikinis. And the matching panties are only $10 extra.

I thought I would mention this b/c this is a way to get a very inexpensive 26 band ... (aka, hard to purchase sizes)

  Why would Topaz run bigger? Is these any way to predict if it is designed for a bigger chest or more projected chest? The notes on Lilly also said its extra deep plunge, would that make it a lower gore? I've read that Lavender's gore is taller than than usual, but the notes say it's a 'high rounded' fit. Should I take that to mean that all of the listed comexims that say they have a higher rounded fit are tall in the cup, or deep like the Topaz? Most seem not to have been added to this site.
  
  The comexim calculator is gone now, so I'm working out my sizing manually and worried about ordering on the wrong end for how I carry volume.

Having a heck of a time finding a sleep bra

I've found that as my cup size has gone up, I more and more appreciate sleeping in a bra. I recently got my nipples pierced and have gone from wearing one a couple of times a week to every night, so I can keep my nipples close and safe 😆

My curvy Kate in my dreams bra hasn't really been ... handling being worn every single night very well though, and I find that since there's not much cup definition my boobs still go into my armpits. It has these strips of fabric on the cleavage meant to separate the breasts, but I actually pull them all the way back so they prop my breasts forward. I don't think they're meant to withstand that though. Also, I have a 32J/JJ and the band definitely is a bit large.

And so, I've been on a mission to find another sleep bra.

Attempt one: A while back someone on Reddit posted the full embrace lounge bra, and it comes in 30N/O. The fit was more like 30 N/O-T A CHANCE. It cut my boobs in half so bad I looked like a cat and hurt like hell. I couldn't even get it off by myself. Returned instantly. Might be a nice bra if you're more like a 30K US.

Attempt two: I searched by measurements on here, and was fairly lenient because it's just for sleeping, and it seemed like the Panache Alisha in 30J would work. It seems to be discontinued, but I found an eBay seller with some for about $20. What a steal! I placed my order on Dec 8. By the 13th they hadn't provided a tracking number, so I sent a message gently asking for a timeline and got back... an out of office message. The automatic part of the message said they would be back 12/12, but the body of the message said they come back on August 12. I sent my message 12/13 and there was no notice when I originally ordered. The next day I got a message that it was already sent out on the 15th, even though it wasn't yet the 15th. They provided a tracking number but it's now the 19th and it still says USPS doesn't have the package... They aren't even that far from here, we're in the same state!

Attempt three: While waiting for the panache, I decided to try Molke. Their customer service suggested xs thunder for the narrower fit and supportive band. They sent the tracking number pretty quickly, after some weird technical difficulties with ordering on my end. However it has been about a week and there's also no movement, and the tracking website says there will be a strike in the next few days, which is a bit concerning.

Alas, my poor curvy kate seems destined to be worked to death. Oh how I wish I could walk into target and buy a bralette right now.

- Fingers crossed for the Molkes! My boobs are a bit smaller than yours, but I love mine. Shipping from the UK to the US does take a while, though. I ordered some shoes from there like two and a half months ago and had to exchange the first pair. I only just got the second pair a few days ago!
- bustyand that's so long! I'm glad to hear you liked it, I've heard mixed reviews but they look comfy and the pride one was super cute so I decided to go for it. I was a little confused with the sizing but their customer service helped so I hope it works out. I'm pretty excited for it. It looks like they made the tracking number, but it hasn't been picked up yet, but I guess it's December so I can't expect quick. :)
