  1. Selina Bra (LN436)

    Fits

Purchased in early 2019, this white Selina seems very utilitarian. It is white. Very white. White all over. Fit and comfort is very good all things considered. My boobs in this bra are more front and center than other bras I have while also lifting just a little bit more than what my Alana's give me. Like my other Selina's, I feel like this minimizes me, more than my Alana's do.
The one remarkable attribute of this bra are the wings, which to my mind are the smoothest, softest wings of any bra I have had. In terms of luxuriousness, these wings compare quite favorably with my Panache Melody's ... which I seldom wear. In spite of this softness, I cannot feel anything from the wings while wearing it. The Selina has potential as a great t-shirt bra but it is not boob sweat friendly.
I also have the Selina in the white/grey colorway and they both not as luxurious as the Selina Lace.

    July 2020
After another hot and humid day, I was taking/peeling this white Selina off and noticed something for the first time. I had mentioned in the initial review that the wings seemed extra soft and so fully expected to feel that softness after unfastening the hooks but what happened surprised me. I was able to feel the inside and outside of the wing material slide against each other, which suggested there were 2 fabrics to this wing. I am not referring to the upper and lower seams but the panels, if you will, of the wings. I have never noticed any of my bras, ever having more than 1 fabric unless there was a lace layer overtop. What was even more surprising was that there 2 very different levels of softness to the wings and perhaps even more surprising was the softer of the 2 materials was on the OUTSIDE of the wing. No wonder I could not feel anything different in the wings when I first reviewed this bra. The material the hook and eyes are fastened to are very special, the thickest and at the same time softest material I have ever noticed in a bra. It's taken a year but I have become very happy with all of my Selina's and especially with Bravissimo.

    Oct 2020
I thought it would be interesting to compare my original measurement data for this bra to what they are today.

    .......................................... original / current / difference
    band length un-stretched..... 33.00 / 34.00 / 1.00
    band length stretched........... 39.50 / 39.50 / 0.00
    cup depth.............................. 17.75 / 18.25 / 0.50
    cup height............................. 11.00 / 12.75 / 1.75

The 1.00 inch change seems unusual, perhaps not originally measured correctly
The 0.00 inch change in stretched band length is possible
The 0.50 inch increase in cup depth is possible
The 1.75 increase in cup height seems excessive but possible

The results of this re-measure are within the realm of possibility. This white Selina is softer, more comfortable and as supportive as it was when I first got this in mid 2019.

It's been 3 months since I last wore this bra...

The band on this white Selina has the softest wings I have ever had in a bra although the softness is something I cannot feel while wearing it. The material supporting the hooks and eyes is to die for, it is so soft and luxurious to the touch. I do find it odd though that both the grey/white Selina and the Selina lace that I also have do not have the same softness in the band or the closure material.

I do get a very nice, round uplifted shape with this and my other Selina's. I used to think I this was a minimizer for me as it seemed to push my boobs further up and in compared to the cakes on a plate I get with my Alana's but if I measure my bust perimeter (bra on of course) I get equal measurements!

The one thing that does bother me though is the fact that I still get substantial wrinkling at the vertical cup seam. It's almost like this Selina is saying I can't fill the bottom of the cup... "are you serious Selina?" lol.

    • I rarely wear this white Selina and yesterday was the first time in over 6 months. This bra is still as sturdy and comfortable as when purchased. I do love the shape I get as it is not at all pointy and quite frankly seems to attract less attention than some of my other bras.

For the first time, I have noticed how much I like the straps on this bra which contribute to the sturdiness and are also very comfortable. They are wide in terms of width and carry the perfect amount of weight but they are also set maybe a half inch too wide on both sides for me. For this reason, I wish I had purchased a 38 band but am skeptical of the cups being good enough as the cups on this 40 band are already a smidge too small.

I really like this bra. This is the best-fitting molded cup I have found. It's pretty and comfortable. My cup size went up recently, so now I'm popping out on one side. I wore this comfortably for about 7 months before I grew out of it.

I have a slight orange in a glass effect, I find the wires to barely cut into my breast tissue and the cups to not have enough space, causing wrinkles. However, there is very little discomfort and it still fits pretty well.
I will not buy a size up because the cups are already too high, I’ll just keep this one.

    Didn't fit

The Melrose bra was never one of my faves but I had a few over the years as I could get a hold of them pre-loved for very low prices. This bra was in a bra bundle with some other 32K Bravissimo bras. I thought it will be my least fave but it's actually very supportive.

my shape: full on top 3/5, center full, tall and average wide roots

The band feels a bit tight. I have to break it in with an extender. The cups are decent fit on bottom as I have barely any wrinkling. The top section however is not so great on my boobs. This bra ... has a large top section and a low apex. It's best suited to fob shapes. So naturally it doesn't do so well on my fot shape, It does flatten my upper boob and gives a slightly downward pointy shape.

I really dislike this kind of shape. It's a shape that full on top boobs get in full cup bras that are not built for this shape. I actually was so upset I did not want to wear it again and sell it right away. Then on another day where almost all of my other bras failed I put this one on again. What is positive about the bra is it's sturdiness and the good support it gives. I think I will keep this bra and wear it when I'm home around the house under a loose sweater or so. For that it will be okay as there are not too many other fit issues despite the sad shape it gives.

    • Ooh yeah that shape, I’m not a fan either! I end up with it in bras that are too shallow and I sized up for depth but especially with short roots there’s just no oomph up top! But for house bras I’ll settle too ;)

  5. Alana Bra (AU01)

The Alana in mint colorway was my favorite until Bravissimo released the papaya . I purchased 2 in early 2016 along with a mint 38L and I wish I had bought more. As usual, Bravissimo refuses to re-stock their Alana fashion colors so once they are gone, they are gone. I get my usual Alana fit and comfort, including days where
the 38 band is more important than the 40L cup, and vice versa.
I also have Bravissimo's Georgia in mint and while I like this bra, I prefer the mint Alana more.

    June 2020,
The band is getting close to being stretched beyond comfort, the result of my wearing this ... colorway more than any of my others. I am thinking of moving the wings of my 38L to the 40L cups but my sewing skills are fairly poor and so I hesitate at the chance I may ruin both bras.

    Aug 2020
The band and straps have suddenly lost most of their elasticity and so this bra has lost most of its comfort and support. Wearing this on the tightest hooks now results in a loose fit and can I easily fit 3 fingers underneath the band. Interestingly, the cups continue to provide comfort and support.

    Sep 2020
I thought it would be interesting to compare my original measurement data for this bra to what they are today.

    .......................................... original / current / difference
    band length un-stretched... 34.00 / 33.50 / (0.50)
    band length stretched......... 40.00 / 42.00 / 2.00
    cup depth.............................. 17.75 / 19.25 / 1.50
    cup height............................. 14.50 / 16.00 / 1.50

The (0.50) inch decrease in the un-stretched length was initially surprising but is likely the result of 50+ hand washings.
The 2.00 inch increase in stretched band length is not overly surprising.
The 1.50 inch increase in cup depth is very surprising.
The 1.50 increase in cup height is extremely surprising.

These results lead me to wonder whether Bravissimo deserves its reputation of being small in the cup and a buyer thus needing to size up. Yes, a bra will initially feel small/tight but will it expand with break-in? I plan to explore this further.

Note: I do not use the cup over knee technique to measure cup depth as I think a more meaningful and relative data point is when a cup is occupied by ones breast. I think it makes sense that depending on bra style, bra cup dimensions can also vary during the life of a bra.

Purchased in early 2019, this white/grey Selina is my least favorite Selina. Fit and comfort are similar to the white Selina and Selina Lace, which is very good all things considered. My boobs are more front and center compared to the other non-Selina bras I have while also lifting just a little bit more than what my Alana's give me. Like my other Selina's, I feel like this minimizes me, more than my Alana's do.
There really isn't anything remarkable about this bra and the pattern of this colorway can be visible under the wrong top. This somewhat indifferent attitude almost steered me away from .investigating the Selina white ... and Selina Lace but if you read my other reviews, you will see how much I love them.
The Selina has potential as a great t-shirt bra but it is not boob sweat friendly.
I also own the Selina in the white colorway and they both not as luxurious as this Selina Lace.

    July 2020

I wore this Selina yesterday for the first time in at least 3 months, maybe 6, and was very pleased with how the day went. I had a bit of a hop in my step and I think it was because of how I felt wearing this Selina. I felt like I had boobs of steel! I had one of those days where I wore the bra the whole day and was in absolutely no rush to change out of it. The bra did not feel like a band with straps and 2 cups but rather like a complete, well designed mechanism for supporting my boobs. It was almost like my boobs were 2 pounds lighter and I felt like my posture was way better, more upright than usual.
I have worn my Selina's a lot the past few weeks. With these Selina's, I have found some of my best bras ever and they were right here, sitting in my drawer the whole time!
I am still not too fond of the star pattern though as they do show through on lighter colored tops.

    • Great review! Would you say there was a size difference between the pattern Selinas and the solid colored ones?
I recently got the navy star print one second hand and love it. Ofc it's discontinued so I cannot get more... :(

    • Hi alisa.
My initial measurements of my white & white/grey Selina's were identical. Since then, the bands have stretched out a little differently, with the white/grey stretching out about 1 inch more than the white, which hasn't changed much since day 1.
If you like your Selina white/navy, I highly recommend trying both the White and the Selina Lace. The wings on the white/grey are pretty standard in terms of feel. For the Selina white, I simply love the dual layer material on the wings although I do wish the softer, smoother side was on the inside. The Selina Lace is a very different bra in terms of measurements and appearance. The un-stretched band of the Selina Lace is 2 inches longer while the stretched band is 1.5 inches longer. The un-stretched length difference is really obvious when I lay the Selina's on top of the Selina Lace yet they feel similar when I wear them.
For me, both Selina's are great everyday bras but I find I get a little excited knowing the Selina Lace will be my bra that day. The Selina Lace is likely the most luxurious bra I have ever owned and given our size, there aren't many to choose from.

This Cobalt blue colorway may be my least favorite Alana. As usual, this Bravissimo 38 band is perfect for me but the cups are a little small, with quadding on both sides. The straps seem to be the weak point for me. The strap material is only average and stretches a bit more than my other Alanas. The strap separation is what is my main complaint as they tend to fall off my shoulders when on the loosest or middle hooks, a problem I do not have with my other 38 band Alanas.

    • Getting close to the end for this mint Alana. The straps are no longer comfortable as they have lost most of their elasticity and the band has stretched to the point where the tightest hooks still leave me feeling a little unsupported.

I have no complaints for this mint Alana as it has been among my most heavily used bras in the past 6-7 years. Like all of my Alana's, this is definitely not the most luxurious bra available but it was comfortable enough, practical given the price I paid and reasonably long lasting.

    • I have 2 of these 40L mint Alana's and I think I may have confused them with my previous comment. Neither the straps or the band are close to being fully stretched out on one of them so I will conclude this one is currently ok after 7 years! I looked pointier than usual in this bra yesterday but my top was loose enough to mask this, more or less.

I have not purchased an Alana in close to 5 years (I think) and the price has gone up considerably, from £28 for my very first one to the current price of £36.

    *REVIEW*

    - BAND: true to size. My underbust is about 83~85cm so 32band is little tight for me, this bra is the same. The fabric is soft. never itchy. very very good.

    - CUP: padded cup, super shallow. I noticed this bra has 4-piece vertical seam, thought this will be shallow. So I got 1 size up but it makes quad boobs a little. 32HH may be better for me yet quading is not that annoying so this is my favorite go-to bra.

    - DESIGN: low-gore plunge bra. I have short root, close set so high-gore makes clear red marks on my sternum. The half-moon-shaped ornament on the center is also good. I love this bra.

  10. Selina Lace (LN640)

Purchased in June 2019, this is the 2nd of 2 Selina Lace bras I own. As one would expect, the fit and comfort are the same. My boobs are front and center while also being lifted just a little bit higher than what my Alana's give me. Like my other Selina's, I feel like this minimizes me, moreso than my Alana's yet when I measure, my breast perimeter is nearly identical.
This blush pink colorway is a light creamy pink and I am appreciating this more and more. I also own the Bravissimo Erin bra which is described as being a pearl pink colorway. In comparison, the Erin seems ... like it is completely faded out. This Selina Lace looks luxurious with the lace covered wings and the copper/gold colored fasteners and I now consider it to be my favorite non Alana bra. Lately though, I do notice the gore to be folding onto itself but since none of the gores tack on any of my bras, this isn't a major problem. I find my arms brushing the side of the bra a little, which I do not recall happening when I first purchased it.
I also own the Selina in both a white and white/grey colorway and they both not as luxurious as this Selina Lace. I also have the matching high waist panties and the combination just adds to the luxuriousness of the bra. Much to my surprise, I recently wore this bra with a medium dark blue t-shirt and was please with the result.

    Highly recommended

I returned this before I measured it so I don't have measurements sorry.

The band is true to size. Pretty average wires. More narrow than most Panache I own. The cup is okay but sadly much too shallow for me and there is a huge gap of emptyness in the bottom of the cup, so I had to return it because of that. It has pretty wide set straps that would definitely slide down on me. The gore isn't as tall as like, Panache is, but it's not a low gore either.

To say I’m disappointed, would be an understatement. This has so many fit issues for me and I’m so sad because I waited so long to get it, and I had extremely high hopes for it. The cups, they’re just big on me all the way around, too wide and too tall, and they give such an unflattering shape. Almost torpedo like. The center of the tanktop buckles when I bend over because it comes up so high. The band rolls under the wires inward and is extremely irritating. But the band seems TTS for a 30. The fabric is quite thin for being so expensive. You can see every lump and bump, but at least it has a very feminine shape to it. So it comes in a little at the waistline. The straps are adjustable, using the same fabric and the rest of the top. It is well sewn tho. It’s two thumbs down for me overall. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

Looks really interesting on the cups but they do look pretty big. Will you try to smaller size?

    • Calluna I thought about it, but then decided not to. They just don’t give me the rounded, or natural, look. The band rolling under the wires is just too annoying to overlook. The one I tried a a few months back did the same thing. It’s just not worth the money to try again. It’s a bummer for sure.

you know what sucks is that i have 3 of these (all ov15) in my usual 32D size and 2 are new (bought within last 3 years) and 1 (that is 5 years old), and the older one fits SOOO much better and it's cut shorter, which fits my short torso better. i kept the new ones cus, like you, they took sooo long to get to me, i just had to keep them. the way u describe how urs fits is how my 2 new ones fit. so if u can find the ones made years ago or older, they fit great, i had no fit issues with that one. ugh. no consistency anymore. :(

    • 1

hopeforthefuture Thats good info to know and I’ll just keep hunting for one that fits. Yeah, it’s a real bummer and what’s interesting is how long it is. I’m 5’5” and long waisted, and this bunched up from the extra length. If they were so great back then, why did they change it. :(

Check out my review of 32JJ - Bravissimo » Lacey Bra (LN486) to read how awesome this bra is. On this review I will compare the construction of this 32HH to the 32JJ and why it does not work.

32HH features narrower shoulder straps that are fully adjustable. The top of the cups is made out of stretchy fabric with no extra lining. The cup edge features an elastic band that tends to cut into breast tissue. The band is more narrow than on JJ+ range and only features a 2x3 closure!

Why did I not like this bra:
First the cups were a bit on the smaller ... side. I think I could have made them work if it weren't for the elastic band that cuts in. But what I disliked the most about this bra: it did not feel as supportive as I would expect a bra in this size. 32JJ and this are worlds apart. The narrow band with only 2 hooks is more for looks than support. Some prefer that so it looks more elegant than "industrial" look of larger size bras - look up my 32JJ Lacey it looks just as elegant as this!

Apart from my personal issues in this particular size range I really recommend the bra above a J- cup and in smaller sizes. It is good! Just be wary if you are around HH-J range of how the bra changes.

It is a full cup style of moderately stretchy lace. It provides a minimized, natural, but very round shape. From the front it is slimming, but not front and center. Basically its a very rounded all over shape from the front. It gives a very round, somewhat minimized shape from the side. I really appreciate it distributing my tissue out and compressing it some to my body. If you want a more projected look, another style would better suit you, or size up in the cup. I also really appreciate the softness of the lace, the smoothness of fabric under clothing, and the short wires. I am center ... full and close set, so the wire gently rests on my tissue slightly but I do not find it uncomfortable. The cups are tall. I do not notice any gaping or real issue, but a lower cup would be more comfortable overall. The straps are also more centered on the cup, so they are not wide and irritating. The bummer is the band seems slightly large. I'd love to size down to a 28 band, but they only offer a 30. The stretch lace on the top of the cups have a thin elastic strip to keep everything contained. I find it to be comfortable and I don't need to adjust while wearing it. The wires are a little wider than I need, but they are comfortable and do not poke or dig. I think this is either for those who are firm and shallow, or soft (as long as you seem to take on the projection of the bra and not force bras down at the wire). Because the lace is closed on top, this is not going to work for FOT shapes. Close set folks may also find issues, although the wires are softer and do not cause pain for me resting slightly on tissue. For me, this is the bra I would sacrifice perfect fit for the minimized, round yet natural, overall comfortable fit and look for.

A full cup style, this one that has somewhat stretchy lace on top. The top stretch lace is not nearly as stretchy as something like a cleo Hettie, but definitely was not firm. There is a thin elastic strip at the top of the stretch lace, which for someone soft like me is a nice addition. The downside is that it was a full cup style. Too much bra that came up too high for my taste. The wires do not poke and are comfortable. The cup is tall, as one would expect a full cup to be. The gore comes up high, but is fairly narrow and ... doesn't begin to move outward until the bottom of the cup where the wire goes into a curve. This bra had great support and good projection (although slightly less than the bravissimo Selina). There is slightly less projection somewhere in the cup - either at the wire or apex, making it have a bit more of a round shape for me. Still is a very natural shape, but has no indication of a point at all. It gives a narrow, up front and center look and very projected from the side. This bra would be good for those who wear the Panache envy, I think. Similar in structure, but I think it is a bit rounder than the envy in profile. This was a true to size in the band. The fabric is a nice allover mesh and there is a silky lining inside the cups. Comfortable for sure.

A balconette that has a stretch lace upper. This bra gave a really round shape, upfront, narrow, and supported. That being said, the straps...THE STRAPS. So uncomfortable. They came up high on the sides and were very wide. They rubbed just in trying the bra on and I found them to be painful. They would absolutely chafe me. If this is an issue for you, do not buy this bra. The upper lace was also very thin and stretchy. I did not have any real issue with it other than it just didn't feel supportive there to my soft tissue. I felt as though I could fall out ... of the top. For someone less soft than I am, this could be a winner. Wires were not an issue and stayed out of my armpit area. Gore was pretty narrow. Wires and gore were less firm and "intrusive" than that of a Cleo balconette. Band was true to size. The bottom of the band has an extra addition of some lacy elastic. I found it didn’t lay flat and rolled up, so while it isn’t an issue, it’s useless. This could work for a variety of sizes and needs, it just depends on what you find comfortable.

    Hasn't set fit

Me: 30F/32E. Center full, close set, relatively even when supported, tall-ish roots. Not particularly narrow - average to wide roots. Soft tissue. Shoulders are on the slightly narrow side so some balconettes have straps that are too wide for me.

Not a ton of lift or "centering" but an alright shape, although pretty east-west. Wires are very low on both sides so I can see how people with wide roots might have tissue spilling out on either side. It actually plays nice with my soft tissue - I don't spill out (usually with something wirefree I'd spill into the center). Comfortable, breathable, nice for summer.

    Didn't fit

I got this Bravissimo Sleep top on sale. I always wanted to try one. This particular one had a few reviews that said that it runs big in the cups and could fit up to JJ/K cup. So I thought I could try a 32HH/J (I usually wear a 32JJ in Bravissimo).

Sadly the top does not work for me. It is a regular cami top with a sewn in wireless bra with lightly padded cups.
I don't like the padding of the cups, it feels constricting. At the same time I feel like the band does not do much. There is no lift or shaping from the ... band / cups. If I want some uplift, I have to shorten the straps quite a bit. The shoulder straps are quite narrow which I dislike. Also there seems to be not enough room for my boobs at the sides of this bra top, the straps are placed weirdly on my frame and they cut in my arms.

I think that the top is a size mismatch for me. I know I should not expect support like from a bra on such a top. But the padded cups feel constricting and really uncomfortable. I cannot imagine wearing this for sleeping. It would bother me. I once had a 32JJ-K - Bravissimo » Padded Sleep Bra (NW265) the bra was a similar padded cup construction (much thicker than the bra underneath this top though) and it did not work for me either. So I doubt a bigger size in this top would fit me better.

    Didn't fit

I have to write a short review on this bra. I just reviewed my 32HH-J - Bravissimo » Bravissimo Pj Cami Top (NW254) and remembered this bra that I had tried a few months ago. The bra was a huge failure for me. I'm have been searching for a comfortable Sleep bra for a very long time and I was always curious about the supportive Sleep wear from Bravissimo. This bra is the first of their sleep bras that come up to K-cup.

(I usually wear a 32JJ in Bravissimo) The bra was a huge failure on me. It was so weird that I don't really ... know if the bra is just the wrong size for me or if it's supposed to fit like that? The bra is insanely tall. I have really tall fot boobs so I would not mind a tall bra, but I have so much extra room in this bra. I also don't know if I have to wear the bra at my waist like (like a top) and like that I can "fill" the top with my boobs (and some of the bottom of the band acting as band)... When I wear the bra at my actual underbust there is so much empty space on top. I wonder if it's supposed to fit like that to allow for movement at night when you are sleeping. Despite the roominess I still found the cups constricting and not comfortable to wear. (I just have this problem with every padded bra. I don't know if I ever had one in the correct size and that is the problem or if I just can't wear these types of bras?) I would not recommend this bra unless you like similar padded bras like Panache sports or other Bravissimo sleep bra offerings.

    • that looks dreadful!

    • I wouldn't mind the ugly look if it were supportive and useful as a Sleep bra but it wasn't.
