I've been a fan of Chantelle bras for a long time, since you can usually pick them up at Nordstrom Rack for a good price if you scour the clearance rack. However, most of these were collected before I was in my current proper bra size, and as a result, all of my bras are 30D/65D or smaller. I have no idea why I was under the impression that Chantelle cups run large, so when I saw the Pyramide Lace Unlined Demi on Nordstrom Rack in a 30D, I ordered it, hoping it would fit despite the fact that this is not my current size.
As expected, ...the bra is far too small. I have only tried one other Chantelle unlined bra in the past, but since it was a 32B, the cups were ridiculously tiny. Still, I have the feeling that Chantelle's unlined cups run a bit small, because I do have some 30D molded bras that fit better. With that in mind, I would at least need this in my normal size of 30DD/E, or even in 30DDD/F.
Sizing aside, I am quite pleased with this bra. I have actually wanted to try it for over a year, but at its regular price of $84 and not being sure of my size meant that I didn't order it earlier. I wish I had, because it is lightweight, comfortable, and beautifully made. It's definitely not designed with the support of a full-figure bra in mind, so unfortunately it does suffer from a flimsy band and thin straps, but I think it is a lovely option for smaller cup sizes that don't need as much support from these parts of the bra.
The band measures quite small on the flat, but like Natori bands, it stretches quite a bit. The wings are made from single layer mesh and both upper and lower edge elastic are quite narrow. The back of the wing is reinforced with an additional panel of mesh to distribute strap tension at the band attachment, and I think having this extra panel is what makes the band feel stable to me instead of flimsy, since usually I hate bands like these that don't have wide, supportive elastic. There is only one row of hooks in this size, which I think is fine for the 30D, but I hope there are 2 rows of hooks on 30DD/E and up. I found the band to fit comfortably and TTS for a 30 since it is so stretchy and lightweight.
The cups are a 2HC construction, with a center vertical seam. The outer layer is made from swirl-patterned stretch lace, and the inner layer is lined with mesh. Seams are finished beautifully, so there are no scratchy edges. The upper edge is slightly closed off to sit nicely against the body, and has a strip of stabilizing elastic. Although the cup is definitely too small for me, it gave me a nice rounded shape and didn't seem to be overly minimizing, nor did it have a visible pointy seam. I think in the proper size, this would give a similar shape to Marcie, though note that the cups are narrower and shallower than Marcie in the equivalent size. In my experience, French brands like Chantelle and Simone Perele run narrower in the cup width while wires tend to be longer when compared to UK bras.
The cradle is finished with a crossover detail, and the gore is also very lightweight, being made of mesh with no additional tricot backing. The straps are twinned satin elastic at the front and plain in the back. The straps are not fully adjustable for this reason. The hardware on the Poppy colorway is gold throughout, and there is a small round gold charm at the center gore. The overall appearance of this bra is sleek, modern, and elegant.
I wish this had worked out! It is a lovely bra and so nice and lightweight, perfect for those days when you need a comfortable bra and don't need the world's most supportive band and straps. This may not be designed for much larger cup sizes, but I think this is great for core sizes. I think I will try to hunt this down in the next size and see how it goes. Read more 628 more words
This is a gorgeous raspberry color. I love the adjustable J-hook vs panache's single spot J-hook. It runs tight. Sits a little lower on the chest vs panache, which fits my boobs better. I usually wear a 30-32, so I need this in a 70 band.
Fits similar to the panache sports bra, but is a better fit for shorter boobs. Runs a little tight, and don't forget it's European sizing. Plan to swap this for a 70F.
The Chantelle Everyday Lace Wireless Bra was a random item I picked up at Nordstrom Rack while looking for something with a little more coverage than a standard bralette. This style is a bit of a hybrid between a soft cup bra and a bralette, as it has more true bra construction than a regular bralette, but less cup construction than a real soft cup bra. Surprisingly, I found this to be one of the most successful hybrid styles I've tried, and is also probably the only racerback style that I can wear comfortably without putting too much pressure on my shoulder muscles. I have ...been wearing the original Blush Pink colorway for about a year now, and decided to pick up another in Raspberry as I quite enjoy it!
The band on this style is meant to fit rather like a standard bra band, and is made of wide, plain elastic. The measurement on this band indicates that it is basically equivalent to a 30 band, which makes sense as Chantelle's size range starts at a 30. Since I am a 28 band, it is not quite tight on me to be considered snug, but is firm enough to be supportive. The back construction is very unusual as this combines a racerback with a standard back closure without having a J hook. The band itself opens normally, but the beautiful floral mesh lace wings actually come up and cross over to create the racerback panel, so you do end up slipping this bra over the head. However, the band closure means it is infinitely more comfortable to put on than a standard pullover bra, so I'm not complaining. The additional back coverage helps the band feel more secure. Furthermore, the band even comes with four rows of hooks!
The racerback portion on this bra is adjustable, which is a huge plus. I suspect the adjustable racerback and the soft lace used to create the wings and racerback are the reason why this doesn't cause me pain. Almost every racerback I try ends up sitting on my levator scapulae muscles and causes pressure that turns into pain after a few minutes. I think the design of this is fantastic and this is the only racerback in my collection that I can actually wear!
The cups are designed as a modified triangle cup with lace overlay over foam cups. The foam cups have a center vertical seam as is standard, but also have a second vertical seam closer to the gore. I think this construction works well to provide more projection than is standard in molded cups and in triangle cups in particular, but the only downside is that the seam creates a pointier shape. Under clothing, this can be visible, so I don't tend to wear this out of the house with thin clothing. I think that a full vertical seam would be able to keep the projection but create a more rounded shape under clothing. Size-wise, this fit me well when I was a 28DD and still fits me well at 28E. I think this would comfortably fit up to 28F/30E, so I'd say that size S is good for 28DD/E/F or 30D/DD/E. No, this won't be suitable for a full bust, but it's still pretty amazing to find a bralette that is designed for larger than B/C cups and actually provides adequate support!
My only gripe with this bra is that I do not like the overlocked seam connecting the cups to the band. None of the seams feel scratchy or uncomfortable at first, but after wearing for some period of time, I find that this particular seam ends up pinching or chafing me right in the IMF. Since we are used to underwire bras being constructed with soft, padded fabric at the wire channel, I think this bra would benefit from additional finishing at the band/cup seam to ensure comfort. Despite this, it's still a lovely bra, with beautiful floral mesh lace and much better shaping than a standard bralette. Definitely give this one a try if you don't typically have luck with bras like this if the sizing suits your size range! Read more 608 more words

I am a shallow and white rooted 30DD, sometimes the 30e. The volume of the cups is pretty decent but it wants a little more upper fullness than I have. Minor gaping on the right side. Still a good support.
The fabric is fairly soft, not stiff or scratchy in any way. It doesn’t have a ton of stretch, it feels similar in firmness of the band to the Panache Envy.
Edit: The gore hurts a lot after long wear for me, so the too-wide gore was an issue after all. Alas.
Summary: particularly good for slightly FoT or even shapes, true to size, attractive design, comfortable material, won't show under a thin shirt.
I am a slightly FoT 30D/30DD with very close-set breasts and immediate projection. I almost always have issues with molded t-shirt bras being too shallow or closed on top. This is not the case with this Chantelle. The memory foam cups are a very soft texture, super-pliable, and along with being cut for a more open shape they do indeed also mold to ...the rest of my individual breast shape very well while keeping it rounded. There is no padding and the foam is remarkably thin, but there is no nipple show-through like with their spacer bras. It looks very smooth under a thin t-shirt, basically invisible. The straps are sturdy, attractive, won't slip off my narrow shoulders. The gore is too wide for me, but that's true of almost every bra that isn't a plunge or a Comexim. Anyone whose breasts don't practically meet in the center is probably not going to have this issue. The band is true to size, but not as sturdy as I'd like. There is no mesh support behind the very flimsy and attractive lace so I fear it won't hold up to heavy use over time. The wing height is excellent. Visually, I love the satin casing detail on the outside of the underwire and the pale blush color that almost matches my very pale skin (I'm too light for most "nude" bras and as a digression I hate any time a company uses that to describe a color as if everyone is the same skin tone even in the same ethnic category, so thank you for calling this "blush"). All in all, I would call this a win. Read more 213 more words
This looks very comfortable. Thank you for your review.
Looks great! I love the details on the side of the band and the little criss cross at the gore. I love the feel of spacer foam but have not tried one that fits me well yet.
If you have a little space along the top and inside side edge of the cups, tighten the straps and that will make the cups fit perfectly. This bra converts to a raceback (must let out straps.)
I have been looking for a lightly lined plunge style to add to my collection as a "comfort bra" to wear when I need some more smoothing and coverage than an unlined bra can provide. I am also looking for something that is a true plunge and provides a low gore with more cleavage. I tried several Natori bras and while none of those worked out for me, I took a chance and randomly ordered the Chantelle Orangerie Plunge when I saw it on sale at Nordstrom Rack. Surprisingly, it fit!
Chantelle bras have typically fit me, though for a long time I was purchasing 30C ...instead of 30D before I learned to scoop. However, like many department store brands, Chantelle's bands aren't snug or supportive enough for my tastes. Honestly, that is the only flaw with this bra, as the band is on the flimsy side. If I wear it on the tightest hook, the lack of supportive wings and full band elastic means that it pulls the underwires right into my ribcage and causes them to dig in. The wings are pretty standard stretch microfiber, but the problem is that only the top edge elastic has any support. The elastic used in the band is super flimsy and springy, and because it is so narrow, even though it does run under the cups, it functionally does nothing. It doesn't provide any support. However, since I am looking for a comfort bra, this is OK, as the molded cups themselves provide enough support for me, and the band stays in place without riding up. The leotard back is a nice detail, and it's constructed with a single hook which isn't a problem for me, as honestly the flimsy band elastic is 90% of the culprit.
Now, the cups on this are a little wider and deeper than Natori Feathers, Flora, or Cherry Blossom in the same size, and the foam used is a bit thicker and firmer. I found that in Natori, I didn't have enough projection in the 30D, but the 30DD's underwires ran too high up the arms. I don't have that problem with this bra, which is awesome, as the cups fit me perfectly. So far, Chantelle molded bras in 30D tend to fit me pretty well in the cups. I also like that this has a proper lowered gore and is a true plunge. This gives me really nice shape with some cleavage. The lace overlay on the cups is smooth and soft, very similar to Natori bras. Mine has a shimmering crossdye effect that is pretty and sophisticated. Although the straps are narrow, they are firm and nicely textured, so I feel confident these won't slip. The only decoration on the bra is a small grosgrain ribbon at the center gore with an enameled C charm.
I wish Chantelle would design their bras with support and function in mind like the UK brands do, but I find that their bras are a really nice option at US department stores. If you can find a band that fits and aren't bothered by details like narrow straps, skinny bands with 1 hook, then I would really recommend this bra. No, it's not the most supportive option out there, but it is miles better than Natori when you want comfort AND functionality!
Kudos to Chantelle for consistency: I purchased two of these bras and they measured and fit almost identically! Read more 485 more words

ABOUT THIS BRA An unpadded, seamed, full cup, underwire bra with top stretch. This is the Chantelle Rive Gauche with the 3-part cup (3281), not the Riva Gauche T-shirt bra.
Purchasing: Purchased in black for $58.96 using Amazon free Prime shipping & returns (not Amazon Wardrobe). Available in black, beige, and peach only. (Other sizes have fun colors.)
ABOUT ME: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts * average projection (not shallow or very projected) * average-set (one finger width of space between breasts) * ...wide roots (extend to the mid-axillary line) * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full) * short root height, average vertical placement * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away) * conical shape (but will squish to round) * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame * front (anterior) rib flares
FIT:
Band rides up. Wings too short -- flesh escapes (but not painfully pinched by upper arm).
Gore is comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.
Straps are NOT too wide-set and adjust short enough.
Tail of Spence (ToS) is visible, smooth (not bulging) and happy (no painful cutting in but outer cup).
Cups: Wires enclose all breast tissue but cannot keep it inside the cup (probably b/c band is too big so wires not well supported). Upper cup is smooth on larger breast with tiny wrinkles on smaller breast (acceptable, if this was the only fit issue). Bottom of cup and apex are filled nicely (not too shallow at wire or apex).
Shaping: From the side, give an acceptable lifted, projected (good, not great), and slightly pointy shape. From the front, gives a wide (east-west) shape.
Appearance under Clothing: Seams show through a thin tee-shirt (despite marketing of smooth seams). Invisible under a boat-neck. Under a sleeveless shirt, the edge of the wing peeks out of armhole and straps show on shoulders.
ASSESSMENT & PLAN: * Tried this model because it is recommended for average projection and center pull straps. I choose this size (UK 32DD, EU 70E) based on Bratabase measurements (cup width = 5", cup depth = 9"). * I agree with these recommendations and measurements. * Also tried +1 cup size (UK 32E, EU 70F) but the poorly supported wire (band too big) allowed boob to escape under the wire (in the armpits) making the cups appear too big (but borderline quadding when all boob inside cup). * Band too big, cups fit, straps fit, tail of Spence happy. Want to try in 30-band, but not made. Read more 353 more words
ABOUT THIS BRA An unpadded, seamed, full cup, underwire bra with top stretch. This is the Chantelle Rive Gauche with the 3-part cup (3281), not the Rive Gauche T-shirt bra.
Purchasing: * $61.23 on Amazon with free Prime shipping & returns * Not available with Amazon Wardrobe. * Available in black, beige, peach, teal, grege, and red – all with a subtle tone-on-tone stripe.
Band: * One layer of stretch mesh. * Wing support: seaming. * Continuous band - wires lower than wings. * Back close with 3 columns of hooks.
Straps: * smooth elastic * soft (don’t stand up on their own) * full adjust * leotard back * center pull
Cups: * 2-seam (3-piece) full cup * Side support built-into cup seaming. * unpadded, ...average strength underwire * Inner and outer cups is edged with elastic. * Top panel is stretch lace (lined with stretch mesh). * All other panels are constructed of a stripy stretch mesh over a non-stretch, opaque knit. * Soft cups (no padding or molding).
ABOUT ME: petite with wide, horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts * average projection (not shallow nor super projected) * average-set (one finger width of space between breasts) * wide roots (extend to the mid-axillary line) * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full) * short root height, average vertical placement * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away) * conical shape (but will squish to round) * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FoB due to short roots and soft tissue * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame * front (anterior) rib flares (not usually a fit issue, but I like that longlines make them disappear)
FIT DETAILS
Band: * length: band rides up * wings: too short, yet too high (escaped flesh pinched between wire and arm) * Arm pushing wire down (out of IMF).
Gore: Tacks. Height & width fine.
Straps: * Not too far apart. * Adjust short enough.
Cups: * Width: Wires enclose tissue nicely AT FIRST, but boob migrates backwards beneath wire with movement. (Wires can’t keep breast inside cup likely a combination of average strength wires and too big of band.) * Top of cup: Tiny quad boob when all boob inside cup. (Cups look too small after boob escapes.) * Bottom of cup filled (enough immediate projection at wire) until arms push wire down (a wire length issue, not a space at wire issue). * Cup apex: fits (not too deep, too shallow, nor off-center) until boob escapes, then looks too deep * Side view: Mostly round, slightly pointy shape with some lift. * Front view: wide (east-west) shape * Outer edge of cup is way too high. Cuts into Tail of Spence. Elastic edge rolls into the anterior axillary fold.
ASSESSMENT & PLAN * Band too big, cup width & depth probably ok (if wire was more supportive), tail of Spence painful. * Also tried -1 cup size (UK 32DD, 70E - Chantelle » Rive Gauche 3 Part Cup (3281)): Band too big, cups fit, straps fit, tail of Spence happy. * Want to try in 30-band (EU 65-band), but not made. STOP.
* Tried this model because it is recommended for average projection and center pull straps. I choose this size (UK 32E, EU 70F) based on Bratabase measurements (cup width = 5.2", cup depth = 9.6"). * I agree with these recommendations and measurements. Read more 430 more words
This was the only store bought bra that I could find locally that was wearable. Bought it at Nordstrom Rack. I would preferably need a band size (or two) down and cup size or two up. My husband loves the revealing look though https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
The bra is very open at the centre, and maybe larger than the sizing implies, so it allows me to wear it. The short wires don't make the bra too wide. Does not poke my armpits. Low gore would allow wearing deep cut v-necks. Gore could be narrower. The gore is soft, and lifts up a little. The wires are short and do not extend to the gore, so the gore feels flimsy. Tiny bit of quadding when scooping and swooping.
I like the decorative ribbon design instead of lace. Modern design.
About this Bra This is an expensive, unpadded, seamed, full cup, underwire bra that disappears under clothing despite seaming.
Purchasing: * $72.49 on Amazon with free Prime shipping & returns (not Amazon Wardrobe) * available in black, white, and beige plus several fun colors
Band: * Outer layer of stretch mesh over an opaque knit lining. Both fabrics only stretch in the horizontal direction. * Wing support: no seaming nor boning. * Continuous band - wires lower than wings. * Back close with 4 columns of hooks (yes, 4).
Straps: smooth elastic, full adjust, leotard back
Cups: * 3-seam (4-piece) full cup * side support built into cup * unpadded, stiff, twisty underwire * Inner and outer, top edges of ...cup are edged with elastic. The outer cup edge elastic is less stretchy than inner and continues to the top of the band. * Top panel is black mesh that stretches horizontally only (unlined). * Outer (side support) panel is made of the same black, horizontal stretch mesh and lined with a beige non-stretch opaque knit. * The lower inner panels are both constructed of black, non-stretch lace over a beige non-stretch mesh lining. * Soft cups (no padding or molding).
About Me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts * average projection * average-set (one finger width of space between breasts) * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line) * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full) * short root height, average vertical placement * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away) * conical shape (but will squish to round) * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame * front (anterior) rib flares
Fit
Band: * length: stays in place with wear * wings: too short, boob escape
Gore: Tacks. Height & width fine.
Straps: * Feel wide but don't slip. * Adjust short enough.
Cups: * Wires enclose tissue nicely AND keep it inside cup. * Quad boob. * Shallow at wire. (But the snug band keeps it from sliding down chest.) * Apex fits. (Not too shallow, too deep, nor off-center.) * Give a wide, oval shape. * Nice strong, supported wires. Tissue doesn't sneak behind wire with movement despite the cup being too shallow. * Tail of Spence is enclosed after scoop & sweep, but pops out after any movement. Once out, cup cuts into.
Assessment & Plan: * Cups too shallow. Try +1 cup size with same band. * Update: This is the largest cup size on this band. The larger band rode up. Give up on this model. Read more 318 more words
The straps are very thin. This bra doesn't fit me, but I unfortunately own a lot of bras that are too small in the cups, and this is the only one whose straps are always rolling up into themselves. I don't know why this happens, maybe I am over-tightening it trying to get the lift I want from cups that are too small. Likewise, the center gore doesn't seem all that tall but it pushes into my sternum hard. There's very little padding on the channels. This may not be as bad a bra for someone it actually fits.
This looks very comfortable. Thank you for your review.
