I bought this bra in 32DD as they did not have a 30DDD. Band was a bit looser than many 32's I think, but I liked the bra style and other aspects enough that I made some alterations so I could keep it. That being said, I will not make too many comments on the "band fit" because of the alterations I made and will focus more on other aspects of the bra and its style.

I have the bra in both cappucino and black. Initially the cappucino felt a bit scratchier and less soft than the black model (maybe due to dyes used), but this evened out with ... some washes. I do prefer the look of the black one, the gold/bronze undertone to it makes it a bit more interesting than just plain black or the cappucino one!

Full cup coverage, but the lace and bow details make it more feminine rather than "grandma". While not "over the top va-va-voom sexy", I find these are lovely everyday understated feminine and sexy bras, and I wear both of them regularly. I also like the contrast stitch detailing on the straps.

Center gore is wider, which may be an issue for those with very narrow breasts. It really dug into me before I adjusted band, but once I had the "right" size it is very comfortable and lays very flat against my sternum so if you are in right size for you, it is probably fine.

Gives a very rounded and separated look, breast tissue is well centered to the front. I don't have any escape of breast tissue into my armpit, etc. Based on the stretch lace, and the cup style, this bra probably fits those with fuller/rounder breasts best. There may be quite a lot of wrinkling or empty space at top for those with less rounded breasts.

This bra was the winner after trying on what felt like a million bras with two fitters at Nordstrom. I had initially come in looking for more of a tee shirt bra with molded cups and ended up with this after realizing that none of the molded cups looked remotely natural on my post baby breasts. The fabric is soft and the lace feels very high end. The semi sheer cup makes for a smooth look under clothes while still offering some coverage for nipples. Does a good job of lifting and separating for how light it feels. It does a good job of not feeling like an "old lady" bra.

I love this bra! ! Love the fit, color, support & SO comfortable you forget you have it on! The cups give me great support, and the band, although lit looks narrow, is comfortable. The cups are not really push up, but they give a good “lift”. The 3 part unlined cup (vertical seaming) has a lace/ tulle top but its situated so there is not much show through. I know it says unlined but it DOES have a thin mesh lining on the inside. Its cut pretty low in front- I can get some pretty impressive cleavage going with this bra! I feel ... sexy whenever I wear it.

The straps are set wide and don’t have much stretch in them ( a good thing!),, It has a racerback option, but I don’t use it unless I'm wearing a tank top.. It has a 4 hook closure which I really appreciate. The underwires fit me perfectly and don’t cut in at all. I have pretty full ( but natural) breast tissue. It breathes well- one of my favorite bras for hot humid days.

My bra does not have a label with a size on it. I measured it using the bra sizing calculator. How do I find out what cup and band size it is now??
I’m very new to this 🙃

If the bra does not have a label with a size on it, then it's best not to be added to Bratabase since its measurements could be distorting other results :(

    • You can't know for sure just by measuring it, especially if it's not new.

Just got this bra and so far I'm liking it. I sized up a cup in this bra because I've had experience with Chantelle running shallow in the cups. It's surprisingly comfy to wear throughout the day. My primary concern is in the materials - the mesh feels like it may not hold up very long. I also wish there were two rows of hooks and thicker/sturdier elastic along the winged portions.

Overall, I'm glad I picked a few of these up on discount at Nordstrom Rack. I'm hoping these hold up for awhile.

Most bras have straps that are too wide-set for me and too wide/high of a gore. This is my perfect bra for support, fit, and shape. This is my second time buying the Rive Gauche -- I also have it in the 34E (US) and that band is a little too tight now that I've put my nursing bras away and brought my normal ones back out, so I went up a size and I'm confident I will love this one too!

    Hasn't set fit

Last Friday I had a few hours to myself while my mom and aunt were visiting one of the local attractions as part of their package tour coming here. So I went to the only specialty lingerie shop in town to see if they would remeasure me so I could see how it was compared with my calculations (spoilers: she didn’t measure me...she trusted my knowledge and evaluated the fits on what I was trying on) as well as possibly try on bras in the said sizes, and I also wanted to try a few sports bras on again, including Anita which was suggested that I knew that ... they had and larger cup sizes in the Chantelle sports bra (this one I’ll be reviewing soon) because the had tried a 65F over the summer and it felt like maybe the cup was too small and I was not able to try anything else.

This review is going to be for both the 65G and the 70F as I liked both of them for different reasons. For some reason, I don’t have as many pictures of the 70F on as I do the 65G or the 65F from the summer.

To clarify, the black bra is the 65G, but I have tried the light grey in both the 65F and 70F. For the purpose of this review, I will only be focusing on the 65G and 70F as I had previously thought the 65F was a little bit small, and that was 4-5 months ago when I was smaller than I am now.

I really love the shape and feeling of this style. It feels more secure and supportive than the Anita compression bras, though I will say it feels like it is a bit heavier than them.

Both sizes felt good in the cups and measured between 9-9.5”. I feel like one was closer to 9 and the other was closer to 9.5”, but as sister sizes they should have a comparable depth, so I’m going with 9.5” with both. I think that it’s maybe better to overestimate than under in this style of bra.

My biggest problem deciding which of the two is best is the band. On the 65G, the band was quite snug. Comfortably snug, but I was concerned that it might feel too tight after activity or in the summer with the heat. The 70F was definitely looser and I was easily able to get the hooks in the middle down up comfortably. For whatever reason, the fitter thought that it was the best first of the two despite being sister sizes.

So, the 65G is a little bit snug, and concerns are whether heat or activity swelling is going to cause it to be uncomfortable. That said, if I had it now and was wearing it inside for basic stuff, it’s possible that it would fit looser (loose enough) by summer.

The 70F felt good in the middle hooks which means that if I felt swollen, I would have room to let it out.

I’m not sure which size is the better size to choose. I did try another one in a cup up the fitter thought that it was too big in the cups.

As the bras are quite pricey, I don’t know if I would go for it or stick with the equivalent size in Panache or Fit Fully Yours since they are all about the same shape and style.

I’m open to feedback for others about the sizing. A word about my activity...will probably be walking (walking for the purpose of walking, so not strolling walking), the occasional jog if my ankle is not bothering me, and maybe light exercising at home.

    • That sounds like a fun bra investigating outing! These 2 look pretty similar in the pictures. I am not sure if it is a trick of the light, color, or even the way you are holding your arm, but it seems to me like the black 65G might be a little closer fitting to your breasts, in a good way. I personally like snugger sports bras, but for mainly lower impact activities like walking I dont think that is as important. Overall I would say go with the one that you wouldn't mind putting on. If you feel like the 65G is so tight that you are going to dislike wearing it, then go with the 70 :) Or go with either of these sizes that you can find on sale :)

    • No, I felt like that too, I felt like I preferred the 65G but was too worried that it would be too tight once I got active.

This bra is so sexy. I still don't understand why Chantelle discontinued it.

The lace overlay is not attached to the cups so it gives you some wiggle room, that's why I was able to get away with a 32F instead of a 32G.

Still mad they never made it in a 30G lol.

My shape: shallow mid-height forward-facing teardrop-profile with lots of immediate projection, low apex, tall shallow upper roots, side-full very wide and shallow side roots, very close-set center tissue, and very firm tissue that doesn't play nicely with other shapes

This review is for the "perfect nude" colorway. It's an ok nude on me, although a bit too dark because of how pale I am.

This bra fits very similarly to my black 65G - Chantelle » Mercy Spacer (1747) , of course. The band feels wider - 3 hooks per column!! - and definitely tighter. It's not especially stretchy, which is nice, but I do feel ... the fabric creak across the wires when I take a deep breath. It's a "padded" cup the way Freya Patsy's are padded; that is, more like foam-lined for modesty rather than any volume-adding cookies or anything. Unfortunately, it's also thin enough in this case that it doesn't do enough for nipple show-through.

The cups are a little tall and they do cut in some on my tall roots, but it's not too bad. They don't have enough immediate projection, which is fairly obvious in the photos and you can see the fabric buckle at my IMF. The side cups (between the strap and the outer wire) are also too tall/wide and chafe in my armpits.

The center gore is too tall, but that is almost every gore I've ever met. I suspect I have a bit of natural symmastia, which means that any gore will rest on the breast tissue there, but usually it's not so bad that I can't tolerate it. I can tell that this one will get poke-y as the band stretches, though. Chantelle, please stop doing this with your gores. It drives me crazy!

I can wear a variety of wire widths, depending on their height, without being bothered by the narrower ones sitting on my shallow side root, which is a flattened curve (like the Nike swoosh) that reaches almost back to my shoulder blade. This wing is a good height on me because it's tall enough to keep tissue from escaping, and the wire width follows the edge of my primary fullness well enough that I don't notice it.

Ok overall, but not ok enough to be worth the full retail price I was accidentally charged. Back it goes!

    Didn't fit

My shape: side-full, close-set, center-height, forward-facing teardrop with tall shallow roots, max immediate depth, wide full side roots, and self-supporting very firm tissue.

Alright, so two days in a row now I've planned to write this review (finally), and both times I put this bra on and had no discomfort whatsoever, which is saying something since this is usually my most uncomfortable bra. Third time's the charm? Anyway, I've had this bra since last summer and just never got around to reviewing it. It's the suede colorway, which is a pretty good nude for me, if slightly dark, although I am pasty, and I have it on the tightest ... hook, which is still snug.

Reasons it's uncomfortable: mostly the wires. Chantelle's gores and I just don't get along, because they're too tall and too wide and they poke and I can't seem to find a model that doesn't, aside from the push-ups which don't suit me at all. The wires are usually very firm, and extremely so in this bra, so any time I slouch, lean sideways, bend over, or even breathe deeply, the bottom of the curve presses painfully into the ribs that must be just underneath. (Except for, y'know, today for some reason.) Also, the fabric of the band is two layers of mesh, which doesn't feel as stretchy as the elastics at the top and bottom edges of the band, leading to some minor bulging and the sensation of the elastics digging in. Superficially, it's not the softest bra ever, but it is smooth under clothes and some might prefer its matte mesh finish.

The cups, while not uncomfortable, have several signs of not being quite the right shape. They're too tall for me, with the proper apex sitting ideally about 1.5cm higher than mine (and in that case would better suit someone with a more projected and shorter root on top), so instead the un-padded cup collapses and the extra fabric wrinkles down by the wire. I think there's a little more apex projection than I need, too, but mine is moderate anyway and that's not really noticeable while wearing it. The immediate projection at the base is good, although still not enough, causing the bra to scooch down during the day. They're a hair too far apart for me, and I'm not sure if the top edge didn't cause some faux-quadboob on my tall roots when it was new, because this is the most closed-off of all my current bras and the T-seam cup style never works for me in any others.

Good stuff: The wire channels have almost 2cm of space in them, and shifting the wires out helps immensely at the sternum and also at the wing, which would be tall enough but needs the backup from the wire because of my Super Side Boob trying to escape. Ladies with shorter torsos may find that the top edge of the side-sling panel chafes, however, because it is tall, but it makes me feel nice and secure, especially considering that the band tapers down to 4 (4!) sets of 2 hooks. The straps are fully adjustable, which is great, and also in a wonderful spot on the cups, which means no buckling on the top edge of the cup and no armpit blisters!

As many other reviewers have noted, this sports bra is very, very similar to the Panache underwired sports bra. I love the fact that this one comes in solid colors - some of Panache's solid/print mixes are hard to match (hey, it matters to me! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> ), and the bra I'm reviewing is the Peacock colorway, which is a deep, vibrant aqua. I love that it's not on the lighter, pastel side, but that it's not too deep and dark either.

Now the fit...like the Panache underwired sports bra, I do feel a little room at the apex standing up, and this ... translates to feeling more room at the top of the cup when lying down (e.g., to do abs) - I notice this more in this bra compared to the Panache model. And again, I could try a cup size down, but I was in a bind and needed something so I pulled the tags off and said screw it. It's not noticeable enough to be uncomfortable or what I would deem a bad fit - just maybe not the most ideal. I'm wondering, being projected and FOB, if this might be a better fit for shallower or FOT ladies? The cups are tall enough in any case that the issue really isn't visible and doesn't become a big deal.

It feels slightly less supportive, secure, and bounce-reducing than the Panache model, but I haven't yet tested it for high-impact cardio yet (just out for a walk), so we'll have to see. Issue could potentially be solved by using the J-hook to convert it to a racerback, but, I doubt I will ever be flexible enough to make that happen, so I personally don't include that as part of these reviews.

It's very, very comfortable - so comfortable, in fact, that when I put it on I thought I had received the wrong item by mistake as I couldn't even feel a wire anywhere! It has the same design as the Panache underwired sports bra with a tall gore that extends up past the end of the underwire - so again, for me, I'd feel comfortable wearing this out of the house with no top for a run - cute, sporty, but no visible cleavage (or nipples, which I prefer to not have visible).

So I just reviewed this bra in the bright blue "Peacock" colorway, and as sometimes happens, the bra fits slightly differently (in this case, better, for me) in a different colorway. This "Raspberry" model fits about a half cup size smaller despite all of the same measurements listed on the tag - much closer to my 30F Panache Underwired Sports Bra (5021) than this bra in the other colorway. I'm wondering if they were manufactured at different times/facilities as the tag styles are slightly different? Who knows. This model feels more secure and less gapey, with no noticeable fit issues at all for me.

I did find it ... odd that I ordered this bra (and the other color) in size 30F through Amazon, but the UK size on the tag reads 30E and the US size 30DDD (which I understood to be UK 30E equivalent). So I'm guessing Amazon is using the EU tagged size of 65F for their size selection of 30F that I ordered - just something to know.

Overall, positive review. I am in love with the deep, saturated raspberry hot pink - again, would totally wear on its own outdoors for a run in the summer. Appeared to wick sweat and control bounce well while doing mountain climbers, jumping rope, etc. during a 40-minute plyometric workout. No visible cleavage or nipples which are things I prefer to not show in sports bras. There's some orange contrast stitching, but to my eye it's not noticeable in the front unless you're looking very closely, and I like that it's not distracting from the solid-color appearance of the bra even where it's more visible on the straps.

I love my chantelle sports bra. Panache is fantastic, but I think the Chantelle cuts just a hair little lower on the chest and I love the J-hook for racerback (the panache hook is right up on my neck but the J-hook I can move to between my shoulderblades).

    • 1

Yes! I do think the Chantelle is just a bit lower. I think it's nice that it has the J-hook for the racerback option, but I'm totally not flexible enough to hook it behind my back, or to put the bra on with the J-hook fastened and then do the regular hooks behind my back once it's on. Glad you like it though!!

    • This color is so beautiful, too. Glad it fits even better :-) Thanks for the sizing information.

    • 1

Well this looks like an exact copy of Panache sports bra :O Btw I just bought 2 Panache sport bras from a clearance yesterday ;)

Good for you that the bra fits and works well! :)

    • Yes, it's so similar to the Panache bra! The materials are a little different but for me, the fit and the construction are very, very close, nearly identical, like many people say.

My shape: tall shallow-root teardrop with wide Nike-swoosh side roots, lots of side fullness, forward-facing, center-height, very close-set, and with very firm tissue that doesn't get on well with any bra that won't give me enough immediate depth at the wire.

This review is for the black colorway, although I'm assessing it as it fits now, even though I got it almost a year ago and just somehow forgot to do one.

I remember trying on my first Chantelle, the 70F - Chantelle » Rive Gauche 3 Part Cup (3281) , several years ago now, and while I know a lot more about how bras are supposed to ... fit, and I look for so many different things than I used to, there is no change here: Chantelle's gores hurt. At least on me, they do. To be fair, I've only tried on a handful, and one of them was really a plunge style so it's exempt from this, but so far the rest of them SUCK. The wires are too tall, the wires are very firm, the cups are too far apart, the gore itself is too wide, and no matter what I do, I can't get away from it. I think I'm going to wait awhile before trying another Chantelle again in favor of other brands I've had better luck with. Hopefully the next experience will be better.

I overlooked the stabby gore because it wasn't nearly as bad as the Rive Gauche had been on me (which I guess set my watermark!), and I needed a plain black bra, since I didn't own one. The band fit well, although I remember quickly moving hooks, and now I can pull it away a bit. I suspect I have also lost a bit of weight in between then and now, since I've been happy in mostly 28 bands, which could also be it.

I also got it because I like molded cups. They aren't the best for being able to judge fit, but scratchy nipple seams are my arch-enemies, and one-piece cups are almost always super comfy on me, in spite of inevitably being the wrong shape. On the other hand, like every other moulded-cup bra I've tried, they are too shallow for me at the wire, so the bra scooches down to find more space. The top cup edge also causes a teensy bit of faux-quadboob on my super shallow upper roots, but it's not something I feel while wearing it.

Having firm tissue means that, for the most part, I don't notice when cups are a little too narrow, like these are, and I would likely have gone on not noticing if not for having to adjust it a lot during the day now. I also notice when it shifts down because the wing is already slightly short for my preference, and when it's even lower the wire digs in there, too. 3 hooks on the band is nice, though! Unfortunately, the stretch lace makes it prone to The Bra Bulge, just like powernet, so it never really fit me smoothly even when it was new.

The straps are good and adjust long enough for me, and I like the stitching detail on the split front.

I bought this bra at the same time as my @Natori Hidden Glamour full fit contour bra in 32G. After wearing this one for about an hour, I think I like my @Natori a little more. But here's my review:

    Pros:
The gore comes up a little higher like a full-coverage. I really like this feature because it offers a little more support.
These are lined cups, which I think offers more flexibility for variation between breasts.
    Three rows of hooks! Yay!
The lace on the side panels is gorgeous.
I still have a lot of room for adjusting the straps for when they inevitably stretch.
This is indeed a spacer bra. I have close-set ... breasts so I almost always have cleavage. This is probably the first bra that has actually kept the girls apart. Haha. I'm hoping this will help minimize boob sweat this summer and reduce the cleavage breakouts (acne) I get.

    Cons:
It is a little more snug than I'd really prefer but I'm hoping that this will help extend the life of this bra.
The sides of the cups do very slightly cut into my armpits. I'm used to wearing sports bras that do this so this is really only a minor annoyance. Plus, I have a little bit of arm flab that affects this.
I anticipate that the lace covering the underbust will curl given time and potentially show under thin tees. I will try to update this review with wear.

All in all, though the bra is a little more snug than I'd prefer, it's still a great bra and still pretty comfortable. I will probably keep this bra for two main reasons: 1) it's the only other underwire bra that actually fits me, and 2) I'm really hoping the spacing helps with the summer boob sweat situation.

P.S. The name of this bra is actually "Merci" Spacer, not "Mercy."

    Update 2/23/17:
After wearing this bra a few times, I decided to return it. It was too tight in the band to be comfortable enough for me to really wear. I think if I were at my old weight it probably would have fit better but oh well. If I lose a little weight, I would probably try to buy this again. It was still an awesome bra.

This looks great on you! I'm actually planning to buy one in 65G that I've been watching on Ebay - the "G" scares me, but with how they size it's actually UK "F" right? Do you think the cups fit true to size? I wish there were more measurements for these!

Does spacer refer to the fit of the bra (in that it spaces out your boobs) or the material? I always thought it was about material, but I think your explanation makes sense. I've noticed several bras with "spacer" in the name lately :) My favorite are Simone Perele spacer bras, and Fantasie has some too, if you're looking for similar bras.

    • I think she was joking about the alternate meaning of spacer! A spacer bra definitely means a bra made of spacer fabric.

Comfy basic bra with wide straps that DON'T dig into my armpits! There are two strap attachment places at the back, so one can wear the straps narrow or crossed over. It works.

My boobs are naturally a bit east-westy, and this bra doesn't reorient them quite as well as my Change Lingerie bras, but it's got more coverage on top and is thus better for running down stairs – no boob escape! I'm quite center full, so the top of the gore doesn't quite rest on my sternum, though there's no quadding.

This bra was pretty blah on looks. I ordered it online, and it appeared to have more solid of material on the bottom half from pictures I saw, but sadly it was thin mesh/lace with only a layer of lace over mesh on the lower portion, with double mesh for side support. So flimsy feeling and very little support overall. Sadly, the single layer of mesh on the very top caught on something and tore a little my first time wearing it. This was through my shirt (which was completely fine), and I didn't notice until I went to take it off that night.

Aside from the material, it is rather comfortable and the underwire does not poke into my underarm. The cups just barely fit me, and seem to run a tiny bit small on this one compared to other Chantelle bras I have tried.

    Fits

I got this bra from another user. I have wide, even breasts with tall roots.

This bra is quite similar to the Panache Sport, so if the Panache Sport fits, there is a good chance this will, too!

The accent blue thread against the black bra is super cute. There is an optional j-hook in the back to convert to racerback. The main difference between this and Panache Sport I have is that half of the outer cup is a matte mesh (like the gore section) rather than the soft/sleek mesh. Even the gore height and the height of the underwires in the gore are the ... same. The cups maybe feel ever so slightly less firm? The Chantelle bra seems to be ever so slightly more projected in the bottom of the cup.

Following is the end of my review of the Lime Panache Sport, as they are very similar:

The underwires are strange--they feel much more flexible than normal wires. It is hard to feel them at all. I didn't realize that the bra was actually sitting well below my inframammary fold at first. I tried adjusting it upward but I find it more comfortable a bit below--however, it's hard to tell where the wires even are due to their strangeness, and I'm not sure the wire placement matters as much for a sports bra.

It gives a nice round, and uplifted-but-slightly-minimized shape. I would definitely wear this as a normal bra on some days.

EDIT: I have worn it several times for sports, alternating with my Panache Sport. I do think there is a little more space in the top of the cup than in my Panache Sport, and I wonder if a 30D would be too small or if it would fix the issue. The extra space bothers me a bit! If I can get my hands on another Panache Sport, I would love to resell this bra. It is not a favourite any longer.

Also, the plastic rings (I presume) are SUPER squeaky! I always notice it every time I put on the bra. I'm not sure how it hasn't gone away yet! I don't notice it after exercising, but I'm not sure if that is just from not noticing, or it actually going away!

I will add measurements and photos soon. This is a great alternative to the Panache Sport underwired bra. It is equally comfortable (maybe more) and I think the fit is a bit better. Many different sizes of the Panache work for me (30DD, 30E, 32DD), but none of them seemed perfect in the cup. This one is a little more moldable to the body. If you find Panache sport UW a tricky fit, try this one!

eta: after wearing I feel this one is a tad big in the cup (a little orange in glass). The 65E is the best fit a little small in cup; still not sure which one is best for me.

label sizing on this bra is odd; this one says 30E UK, 30DDD US, 65F EU and 80F FR on the sales tag, but the bra tag says F cup for all.

The shape of the cups just don't really work for me. I am shallow and somewhat FoB. There was a bunch of bunchy fabric in the front and top of the cups, suggesting that it's better for more projected shapes. The top did lay against my boobs though and the wire width was fine. I'm going to stick to the 3646 version.
