First thing's first: the band is very tight compared to the other 30 bands I own. I've been using with the extender hooked onto the tightest set of eyes, so it feels like as if the bra came with 4 sets of eyes. In my opinion this feels nice and firm, kind of like the Cleo Meg when I first got it. When the extender is hooked on the second set of eyes, it also feels firm, although I haven't worn the bra all day at this setting so I can't write what it feels like. I will update this review when I get ...the chance to do so.
Would I recommend going up a band size? Probably not, since the stretched band of the 32E is about 5cm bigger than the bands of my well fitted bras. Although if you have a chance to try on both, you'll be able to make a better judgement on which fits you better.
The cups fit nicely. My breasts are fuller on top, and with this bra I don't get any cutting in at the tops of the cups. The shape is also nice and rounded with good lift. I would say compared to the Cleo Lizzie, it feels like there's less breast coverage with the cups. Overall, I feel well supported. I haven't had any problems with pokey underwires, but I'll probably need to bend the centre gore outwards as with my other bras I own.
Stylewise, I like the print a lot, especially the mesh portion. I think the colours go well together, and I agree with cbear that the clouds remind me of Super Mario clouds. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> My only real complaints are:
- I wish the cups were a mesh material like the Cleo Lucy and Lizzie. I just like mesh for some reason.
- The tag on the back is really annoying. The bra itself feels comfortable but the tag does not.
Update: I wore the bra yesterday with the extender hooked on the second set of eyes and I found that the bra was comfortably snug, I would say slightly more comfortable than with the extender hooked on the tightest set of eyes. Just for fun, here's the bra's stretched band measurement with the extender attached.
Tightest setting (like having 4 sets of eyes instead of 3): 76.5cm (approximately 30") Second set of hooks (like having 5 sets of eyes instead of 3): 78cm (approximately 30 3/4") Loosest setting (like having 6 sets of eyes instead of 3): 80cm (approximately 31.5")
Update2: I've been wearing the bra with the extender on the loosest setting so I feel that I should have bought the 32E instead. Read more 355 more words
I love the fun pattern for this bra. The mesh-like material is comfortable. I appreciate the fact they extended the pattern material onto the straps, instead of the usual boring straps. The fit is good. I just bought this bra but like everything about it so far. This is also one of the first Panache bras I've bought/tried on where the cups haven't felt too wide. Hurray!
Overall, this bra fits pretty great. I fill out the cups nicely and the lace doesn't lie flat which is a sign the cups are the right size (if the lace lies flat you're quadboobing!) I think the wires are a tad wide for me, even though I have a wide-ish(?) root. It doesn't cause any discomfort though so it isn't really problem. This is the first time I've had a bra that I haven't had to adjust constantly during the day - hurrah!
One con is that the seams show through fitted t-shirts (at least they do for me) so it might not work super well as a t-shirt bra for everyone. I don't really mind the seams showing but I felt I should mention it.
Very tight in the band, as noted elsewhere, and the cup may also run a bit large -- I seem to do best in a 32G in Freya/Fantasie/Fauve. It has lots of room on top but also quite a lot of projection/depth (not too shallow at bottom), and gives a very front and center, lifted, yet very round look. I'm very firm and dense, quite projected with both top and bottom fullness, moderately narrow root, splayed, and wideset; I'm always trying to avoid east-west as well as southerly drag. This is a very pleasing effect, available for a small fraction of the price of Empreinte.
(Note: Bratabase won't let me enter that it fits without doing the whole measurement rigmarole, but it does fit.)
It won't let you set fit information if you haven't added your profile(breast) measurements, this is because without them the fact that "it fits" is useless for the system as it cannot be used to compare with any other entry. When you add fit information it uses the profile measurements to know that this bra fits such numbers and that's what keeps the wheels rolling.
Oh, that totally makes sense. But I'm an ox with a measuring tape, I find it hard to get the same numbers twice in a row and it's crazymaking. I should make an effort though, I know.
First I tried this bra in a 38GG. So far, the wires poking my sides seems to be mostly resolved with this size. I still find the underwires a little short for me, but overall I love the look and fit of this bra, so I think we have a keeper! Everything is really well constructed, I just wish the underwire wasn't so much shorter than the channel! (Edited to add that I decided to return it, the wire poking wasn't actually better)
I had a really hard time keeping this bra up in my inframammary fold. At first I thought the bottom was too shallow - which is very strange since this is a highly recommended bra for Full on Bottom women - but looking back through my photos I now believe that the wires were simply too narrow for my root.
It is very similar to the Cleo Marcie (6831) , with the exception that it's top is a bit more closed off to better fit women who lack upper fullness. I have a pretty even shape, and found that in order for this bra to fit, ...my nipple absolutely could not sit at the apex. I'm simply just not flat above my nipple; I'm round.
Even wit my breast sitting in the cup a bit differently to accommodate that incompatibility between my breast and the cup shape, I still found that I had some quad boob at the cup rim and some wrinkling on the bottom (though this would be the first time I've ever gotten that because the lower cup was actually too big, as opposed to too shallow).
All around I think this is a great bra for a woman who has less upper fullness, more lower fullness, and a narrower root than me. The purple color is quite pretty, and I'm sure many women will appreciate the flower patterning on the mesh as well as the flower lace in the upper panel. Read more 137 more words
This is my second review of a Cleo Melissa. I also own a Cleo Melissa in 28GG, which fit well when I purchased it, but I outgrew quickly. While Cleo is Panache's junior/cheap line, the construction and design of the Cleo Melissa are top-notch - great shape, fantastic reinforced seaming, sturdy materials, true-to-size and an absolutely adorable pattern.
With many other bras, the jump from 28GG to 28H is often the tipping point into shitty pattern grading (wires mysteriously become an inch wider, cups run up way too high and shapes become all wonky). I clung onto my too-small Melissa for a couple months fearing that ...the 28H would be an awful fit.
I needn't have worried - if anything, the pattern grading is BETTER in the 28H. The wires and cups run up just high enough to contain all of my breast tissue without engulfing my torso or poking anywhere, the wires are a great width (narrower than Freya in this size), the gore is nice and narrow and tacks without digging in. It manages to be cute and delicate while providing great support to a bigger bust.
My only complaint is that, like ALL the Cleo bras, this only has two columns of hooks in the back, even in bigger sizes. The Melissa has a thick underband in front, I don't understand why that isn't extended to the back (especially in bigger sizes). Read more 131 more words
The band is a little stretchier for my taste (stretches to around 30 and I measure 27, so I usually need a true 28) but it doesn't ride up. I just prefer my pretty bands tight so I wouldn't mind it being a little smaller. I love the pattern and the seams don't usually show under clothes unless it is a pretty form fitting shirt. Definitely one of my favorites (so far!).
Edit: I have since experienced some tissue migration and unfortunately now experience a bit of quadboob in this bra (lace lies flat). Next time I will need to get 28F in the Juna cuts.
Very comfortable bra. This bra is recommended for shallow shapes, which I have. I have shallow (tall, starts near my collarbone), narrow, and close together boobs. Most shallow girls seem to have a wider root so a lot of the recommendations do not fit me too well https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />. The band is a bit looser so size down. The seams on the front is actually visible through thin tank tops and shirts. The underwires are too wide for my narrow root unfortunately and a wee bit too separated. The 28 F is actually a better fit because of the larger cup, however, I chose to go with the 28 E simply because I have very narrow breasts and the 28 F is too wide. Unfortunately, the 28 E is not deep enough for me, and it is actually still a bit too wide. Since its not deep enough, a part of my breasts are pushed out near the top causing armpit fat. Still, this is a very comfortable bra and I kept it.
Pretty bra and quite comfortable. I seem to be right on the border of 28DD and 28E in this bra. If there is any quadboobing at all it's ever so slight. This was my first try in my new size and it seems it had worked out.
So the George 30J arrived yesterday and the first thing I thought was "I must fit into a 30JJ Jasmine".
But I ruled that out pretty fast since this bra was way too tight for me.
Anyhow: The wires ended up immediately in the right spot just before my shoulder blades. They went quite high which I like since I have a long torso. But they were too narrow in the bottom.
I do have at least two versions of orange in a glass in this bra, possibly even three;
The first is rib cage orange in a glass from he wires needing to wrap around my very curved ...body and huge root. The second is the typical orange in a glass received by wires being too narrow on the bottom. orange in a glass. All this makes me having a little hard time to determine whether it has too little cup volume in the bottom as well. I am still not sure about that. By boobs has a little migration going on from the bottom and they are extremely shallow in my absolute bottom and then they get bigger higher up. They tend to fold/bend themselves on that shallow migration which looks really weird and makes every bra look to big on me, even when it isn't.
So I don't know if it's the orange in a glass or the fact that I'm very high on chest (with a lot of migrated tissue trying to get back) that simply makes part of my boobs end up above the bra. But since they are so shallow I just look soft all over my chest instead of having two pair of defined boobs. But if you look at the pictures from the side you can kind of see how my boob above it simply is bigger than the cup.
The bra has a three section cup with a high placed apex. The bottom sections reaches 17 cm up in the middle just where the two bottom sections meets.
The outer section of the bottom is cut tighter in a very smart way so that it would almost seem as if the bra would have a side support panel. It just doesn't need it. The fabric is for a better word "firm". In no way harsh or uncomfortable, just very supportive. It's very lightweight, somewhat see through and I really like it.
All this provides a very up front and center look.
My version is the light pink and the color is absolutely superb combined with my peach skin color. And the the uplift is superb. Ohmy what a cleavage. If the later versions of Cleo works close as good as this one I'm a Cleo girl from now on.
I have a little hard time to determine if it's open on top or not since the bra is too small for me, but I would guess it's not since the upper section is very small and feels pretty tight compared to the high apex. But I may be wrong about this so don't take my word for it.
Over all this is a really good bra. I might kill to get my hands on a 32J so you better watch out, or help me find one. I want to keep this one, but I know it really is too small.
Of all the bras I've tried I think the bra this one resembles the most actually is Panache Sienna. But that's only because the apex is placed similar high and rounded. I definitely look forward to try more Cleo bras so I think Alexa and Zia is on my list. Maybe even Marcie.
****************************************************** Update June 4 2013: I have retried this bra. It's going to have its straps altered and it will become my cleavage bra. The shape is perfect and I have decided I will live with some slight cutting in on top. It's an occasion bra anyway and I will make it wearable now finally <3 Read more 557 more words
I can't find that thread, so here are some questions How did you close the band? I mean, the cutting in isn't severe, and it may be just the band pulling too tight. You may want to try this with an extender. Now, as for a lot of your boob being outside the cup - that is not uncommon with cleo if your tissue starts high on chest. Theese bras probide less coverage than what you are used to. I'm glad you like the shape, I like how it looks on you :))) You might actually try the lucy too, I know you don't miind altering the gore :)
Vee: The tightness comes from my needing the wires so far back. So that's why I always need sizing up. It looks way better in pics than in person. I cannot scope in this bra.
Something just didn't seem to work well with this bra, I think it is best described as orange in the glass, it was too big and too small at the same time. very pretty though and the fabric felt super soft. Really wanted it too work though
This bras fitted me a few months ago. I haven't put on weight so I can't really say why it doesn't fit anymorehttps://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> My problem with Meg is that 30dd is to small and 30e too big. In 30dd the top of the cup cuts in, but the underwires are perfect. I've tried 30e, the underwires were a little bit too large and I couldn't fill the top of the cups. The cups are deep but quite closed on the top. It seems that I'm not compatible with this model anymore.
I love the look of this bra. I fell in love with the color as soon as I saw it. However, the underwire is a bit too narrow for me and it is uncomfortable. I wish Panache (Cleo) bras worked for me but they don't!
Band is tighter than yellow Cleo Lucy 32G! Cups are just as narrow. I bought this hoping to alter the center gore which would open the cups a little and stop the quad-boob at the center, but the band is too tight, which annoys me.
Quad boob at center because gore is too wide/cups are too far apart. Straps are too wide-set for narrow/sloping shoulders (was hoping the alteration would fix that too). Band feels looser than yellow one but the photos show it much tighter. Band feels as though it will loosen quickly.
I've worn it for about an hour at a time and the quad boob on the left is noticeable, which is not good for breast tissue and not good for cleavage as it looks weird.
At first I loved this bra, but after a few hours of wearing it I realized the underwires are far too short for my long torso. The cups fit nicely as well as the band, the gore tacked tightly, and is quite high, but nothing I couldn't adjust to. However, the underwires are almost an inch shorter than their channels, and I noticed just how badly they were poking me in the side after a few hours of wear. It may be worth mentioning that I have lost 85 lbs in the last year, so I have LOTS of squishy fat. I am still losing, so if the band looks a little snug, that is why. However, the underwires are pretty painful, I do believe this will get returned.
I ordered it, comparing it to my http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dhvih/ La Senza fabulous bra... but the shape is slightly different and the Cleo seems to cover more boob than the La Senza does... making the cup a marginal fit rather than a good fit. Really, just a tiny bit of quad boob with some imagination.
I considered ordering a 28FF instead, that would solve the cup issues, but it wouldn't solve the band issues. I have a 25.5in underbust, and normally 28 bands work really well (I'm not very fleshy, so there's not much to 'compress', so 28 bands work like a dream despite measuring sub-28). I'd need a 26 in this bra, and that of course doesn't exist. Even though I WANT to convince myself that this is 'fine'. It will end up somewhere over my shoulders before the end of the day.
Bye bye Cara! (And bye bye all other Juna-lookalikes with all your prettiness!)
This is a great shape bra for me. Fits quite perfect, and a good, lifted and projected effect. It's too bad I don't like Cleo's very girly stuff + that there's always only 2 hooks.
It runs large all over - so I may want to adjust the band. I think I would ideally do with 32JJ's from Cleo, but oh well.
